D-list celebrity Zhong Ruanxing had been embroiled in controversies over her sultry figure ever since her debut. Smear campaigns and malicious rumors clung to her like a shadow. Years of oppression from higher-ups and sabotage by rivals made it difficult for her to shake off her reputation as a femme fatale, severely hindering her career.

Song Jingxing, CEO of the prestigious Song Group, graduated top of his class and stirred up storms in the business world with his capabilities. An aloof presence at the pinnacle of power, his interpersonal relationships were a mess, with even family keeping their distance. People loathed his attitude.

A freak accident caused these two very different people to swap bodies.

What they thought would be an arduous ordeal turned out to be an unexpected boon. Each found they could easily resolve issues that had plagued the other.

The celebrity living the CEO’s daily life: Greeted his family affectionately, treated subordinates with care, gave employees benefits, complimented his secretary’s new hairstyle—starting the day with vigor!

The CEO as celebrity: Trampled over rivals, tore apart enemies, sent lawyers after antis. Whoever dared provoke him would die! The CEO was whipping the entertainment industry into shape!

Much later, netizens posted:

[Who is Zhong Ruanxing’s backer? Her resources are too good now. From nobody to A-lister, whose thighs did she hug to get here?]

Online influencers hurried to speculate about the magnate behind Zhong Ruanxing.

Until the famously aloof CEO of the Song Group responded: I’m pouring resources into my own girlfriend. Got a problem with that?

A light and good read. The intro explains most of the plot and of course FL, Zhong Ruanxing, and ML, Song Jingxing, end up falling for each other due to their developed admiration for the other. The reason for their body swaps is never fully explained. The plot is full of face slapping as they end up helping to resolve each other's problems.

A revelation near the end of the novel was kind of weird since the plot veers from the feel good aura of most of the novel. Maybe the... more>> author has some ideas but changed their mind. Here is the spoiler on it.

Spoiler

Towards the end of the novel, it is revealed that ML's parents were mu*dered. ML's grandpa made the wrong decision by covering it up since the culprit was ML's eldest uncle. In the end, the uncle is tricked into confessing to the mu*der and is arrested.

Wow! I went in not expecting much and fell in love! ❤️ The best part of this story is the detail and thought that the author put into the characters. It's truly a character-driven story, and the body swapping is the foil to show off those characters and how the FL helps the ML grow. Thoroughly enjoyable; it will be going on my list of books to read again. 🤓

Yeah generic shoujo domineering CEO x commoner celebrity. As other said less face slapping but more SoL. Interesting part is the body swap arc. With different gender, personality and life experience, they trying to live as the body should, either in work and social relationship.

Very short sweet chapters. Only a little dogs blood plotting with a male love interest but the focus is the developing feelings between the leads and their life’s improvement.

Surprising enjoyable. Quite chill for the genre, not a lot of face slapping as the synopsis suggested and more toward the SoL of both character living their lives in both body in their career and together.

Reviewing as of C112

Plot: 3.7/5 - It is a decent plot and keeps me engaged enough that I want to come back and read it. It does sound generic with all the face slapping, cold CEO and everything, but the way the romance is building up between the ML and FL is sound and doesn't seem too rushed.

Characters 4.2/5 - Except for a couple of extras who appeared in the book for may be a page, pretty much all the characters are well-developed and are believable. There is a depth... more>> to most of the characters.

Language - I am reading the translated version of the story, and the translations are pretty good. I did spot a couple of grammar mistakes here and there, but they weren't obvious enough to take me out of the story.

Over all it is a decent story. <<less

It was funny to read about their interactions with each other. Could have been a bit shorter and more dynamic. I missed some side stories.

4.16 Stars

Date Read: 5/6/2024

Personal Enjoyment: 4/5

This was a very stress-free smooth story. There were no high highs and low lows but a pretty even and tranquil 7.5-8/10 journey lol. Which is pretty good because this is a pure romance story and I don't have good impressions of romance in light novels! Heck, I normally straight up dislike romance in light novels because they are done so poorly with insta love everywhere, male is superior, toxic masculinity, love turns original good, strong, smart, proactive characters to typical damsels in distress, top... more>> and bottom dynamics, etc, etc. But here, while a lot of the usual tropes are here, all my negative feelings were avoided just because of the premise! Switching bodies XD. This means all the classic tropes happen to the wrong person hahaha. This also gives this layer of credibility to the couple's romance because it forces them to over-communicate to handle all the other person's affairs. This makes the romance way more credible. And the slow opening up of the ML is just so logical. I totally believe his changes because I was there every step of the way through each text, phone call, email and video that he had to expose himself to friendly human contact. This is exactly the show-not-tell writing that is highly missing from the romances in many other light novels.

Short Summary: MC and ML wake up to find they switched bodies. ML wakes up in a crisis situation but calmly deals with it because of his temperament. He contacts himself and they communicate and work together to make sure each other's life doesn't fall apart by this swap. Over time, after constant communication and teamwork, the optimistic and lively MC who still kept her self-confidence and self-love even after going through the entertainment industry + her loving family slowly provided a safe and warm environment for the emotionless and self-isolated ML who cut himself off from his feelings because of a tough childhood, to open up to the world again.

Plot: 4.2/5

Love the premise. And all the different obstacles faced by the couple. It provided a lot of depth to the usual shenanigans because the characters experiencing them are on the opposite side of the typical character. The progress of the romance plot was good. Some of the scenes weren't exciting to me personally like the variety show and the ending climax investigation but it served its purpose enough to progress the plot. I do feel that the setup for the investigation could have been set up and foreshadowed a bit more though. And I would like a bit more closure with the Song family in the end.

Writing/Translation: 3.7/5

The translation I read is from akknovel. Quite readable and no need to guess the meaning of the sentences at all. However, lots of pronoun and character name mixups. It was confusing for a bit when explaining the Song family members and familial relationships. So to help with that, in the Song family, there are the grandparents. They had 4 kids, the oldest son, Jiawen, 2nd son Jingwu, the deceased 3rd son who is the ML’s father and the youngest daughter, Rusi. All of this generation has kids. The oldest has a son Jiaci who is married and had a baby. And a college-aged daughter Jiawei. The 2nd son has a son, Song Lecheng who runs an entertainment company. The 3rd son has a son Jinxing the ML and a younger daughter, Shuling the ML’s sister, also college-age. The 4th daughter has a college-age daughter Wenyin.

Pacing: 4.2/5

Pretty decent pacing the whole story. Nothing felt rushed or slow. The author knew what they wanted and how and what to do to get there.

Setting/Worldbuilding: 4/5

It wasn't too vague but not detailed enough. However, this is more of a character-focused story so the settings were acceptable. Lots of different places were shown like different houses and places to act.

Characters: 4.5/5

Lots of different characters with their own motivations and personalities. Lots of different side characters too. Feel's somewhat realistic and grounded. Love the MC and ML.

Romance: 4.5/5

The romance is pretty good. I wouldn't say I really felt it in my feels as there weren't any big ups or downs but I greatly appreciate the whole romance and did not feel put off at all the whole way which is remarkable for me. The growth was very nice and I love the humour sprinkled throughout their interactions. It is especially effective with this emotionless ML because each smile, joke and laugh feels very cosy, healing and like progress is being made ;)

3.5 tbh. Well first of all, the translations are MTL I'm pretty sure. So do that with what you will. Second, this is definitely the best body swapping novel I've read in a long time. Very very interesting when they body swap and live each other's lives. I feel its much more meaningful that both of them know there is a purpose to living each other's lives to heal or help each other.

But where it gets I think kind of tragic because I think the whole portion where they have... more>> bodies swapped with each other is really top tier writing is the portion afterwards where they go back to their own bodies. That is where we cannot distinguish the difference between a unique and interesting novel with compelling events to generically written hot girl and iron tree guy w emotional issues melting for dis 1 girl. I want to tell you even that although the main character finally gets to act in her own body again after so long, we don't even get any specific details about her acting like we did when the guy was in her body. That's crazy. That is crazy guys. You know what details we do get though? Her going to a variety show. That's f*cking crazy. She's an actress and the first thing you let us see in true detail in her body is her going to a variety show for the love romance progress of their relationship.

But the whole thing is that they didn't even need the variety show... It's because the author refused to allow the two people to be straight with each other without the reality show. Let's be honest, they could have equally said something to each other without the reality show. But they didn't because the author wanted the reality show. Why? I have no idea but like I guess for her popularity. I don't know LOL. This entertainment novel was so good before this, before they swapped back to be honest.

Perhaps it's because their romance takes center focus that all of the details you were focusing on family life are more vague when they swap bodies back. It's weird when you really notice it. To be honest the ML with his mental illness as well is unique even though the effect is the same, which is a cold guy who can't talk about his emotions. It was unique because we knew why and we could kind of see him struggle with it. However, once they swapped bodies back, The writing just was like not as detailed enough and all he felt like was another generic code ML who finally melted to like somebody and learned social cues. We did not get that progression that we were getting before. I think it would have been better if we saw him go out to his psychiatrist or psychologist? I don't remember which one it was. But we didn't get that scene. We did not get that progression we were feeling when he was a woman. What we got was generic. Even the romance progression is kind of like I don't know generic. It's enjoyable sure. But I've read so many like this and I feel like the dialogue and writing just deserves to be better. At least as good as when they were swapped bodies! Like where did the details go guys... Where was the novel that was the rest of the novel?

I think because this book was so good to begin with, that. It's quite disappointing when you realize what happens, after the swap is done, is just typical, but not even written in detail that much or original. To be honest, the writing gets a little cheesy. It's kind of weird because it wasn't like that before. It's fine if it was before and I would have accepted it but cuz that wasn't the precedent then it's weird

Spoiler

it's too funny LOL. Why is it that after I wrote this review that they switched bodies back LOL. Now that they have confirmed their relationship, they have to deal with living in each other's bodies. Again.... Damn it. Why. Is it because they're Romance is too cheesy? Without any sense of flavor like the body swap? My God. I kind of just wanted to see them date though and like figure out their issues as themselves and I wanted to see her act in her body in detail. I don't know. Maybe this will save the novel but I just feel like it's a crutch right now

i LOVED it. It is funny, cute and have a lot of character developement. The relationship between FL and ML grows with the story and doesnt feels rushed at all. The body swap element just adds to the story development and it remais a mistery till the end, but im not mad about it. It is not just the main characters who grows but the mayority of the secondary characters have some development.

it is a sunny x grumppy kind of novel which I love.

Plot is great, but the translated is inconsistent, some chapters are well translated, but some chapters seem like mtl, and it is common for names to get jumbled. However once you get past that, the story is pretty enjoyable. I do kinda wish we got more of them as a couple tho, it felt very slow burn

the mu*der plot came on too suddenly, I was shocked to find out that ml’s eldest uncle was the mu*derer who planned ml’s parents’ death. I wish the author had spent more time developing or foreshadowing this, rather than spring it onto us and conclude it within just a few chapters. It feels like ML never properly got his revenge, and his eldest uncle obviously wasn’t regretful.

On a lighter note, this is crazy but I lowkey shipped Bai yinyue and Cheng Yaowen lmao, I would’ve love them to go from bickering to lovers (yes ik he’s a psycho but a girl can dream)

Definitely a very enjoyable read.

The swapped main characters had very distinct personalities, and in general, it was very well written with maintaining consistency between them. The author did a good job slowly developing the ML's emotional side without having him do a drastic 360 personality transplant. His doting / care for the MC was also well-written, though the MC was very dense on that front.

Really enjoyed the interesting twist with who the final villain was. And the character development of the ML's family where some of the canon-fodders became more multi-faceted and redeemed themselves

The story is pretty interesting so far (especially on the ML-inside-FL's-body side), but the translation leaves much to be desired — the name swapping more specifically. And I don't mean the FL & the ML, because it's understandable. It's random characters getting their names swapped (eg "FL" and her agent in c27) that's making the reading experience less satisfactory.

For errors like this I would usually post a comment to inform the translator, but there's no comment section. Alas.

I love this novel it is funny and the storyline is good definitely will be reading it again but I wish the author did write some side stories like their wedding and how many child will they have, also about Shu Ling love life and Yin Yue love life. So I will give in novel 4.8/5 and recommend to the others for it to read it.
