The FL is a trainwreck. Obnoxiously scatterbrained. Completely lacking any form of situational awareness or discretion. It was sort of funny until she accidentally garnered the affection of the ML, whilst trying to hit on his friend. ML thinks that she's stroking his ego and wanting his attention without being overtly s*xual about it.

That's the worst trope for me when the ML essentially falls in love with a personality who doesn't exist. It's not like she's secretly cultivating feelings and just not expressing them because he's the ML. She genuinely... more>> doesn't care for him or for anyone. Mind you this is reasonable, but I'm here to read a romance and some drama. Not this. Maybe the story will get better, but I'm already tired.

If anything, 2nd ML and ML have more chemistry. The author had some weird hints about it. One is like the moon, the other the sun. 2nd ML likes to paint his friend's eyes on the beautiful women that he paints...

Anyway, read it if you want. I'm being meaner than my intention. I just like a more mellow, ordinary, intelligent, and discrete FL. No smugness. A little denseness is fine as long as she is actually emotionally capable of reciprocating the ML's feelings. <<less

This novel started off interestingly but halfway reading, I can't bear it anymore.

This is one of the poorest ancient transmigration novel I've read.

The original FL was engaged to the ML aka the Prince but she run off because she didn't want to marry the Prince due to rumour that he is barbaric, cold and violent etc.

... more>> Well, as of chapter 163, she kept on running away from him and repeatedly r*ped and sexually harassed by two supporting MLs.

It was to the point that the Luo dude break into her manor and r*pe her but her family still can't do anything. They then blamed the Prince for being cold (like wtf?) and kinda forced him to still marry her because it's the emperor decree.

So the original FL shamelessly trying to marry the Prince restore her dignity.

I can't stand her character written so poorly. They way the author make up the scene of her getting r*pe repeatedly is like doing some sort of fun game. Total bullshit.

I'm gonna dropped the book because seriously I'm just bored and sick of the s*upid plot. <<less

Well story is good.. I love the MC..

But on this part I'm getting bore because MC is so clueless about ML feelings and she is all relying on the face of previous owner.. How can someone be so naive when you come from 21st century ?.. And she is definitely bigger than ML in age but still she acts like a teenager. But still I love her and the story is really good.. So I am gonna read ahead.. You'll either enjoy it or be completely bored. I think it's probably worth reading once. A few things about our female lead really annoy me in first half, like how she has improper contact with second male lead. She knows the rules, etc, for this time period, but she still lets herself be put in situations where she has contact with other men. Among all the other novels I've read, this is a solid 5/5 for me! This is the only novel which I was able to read 3 times from the beginning till the end. If you are a big fan of transmigration novels, this one might be for you. I really loved the FL's character development in this novel since I am really into "cannon fodder" stuff and this was my best read. I really liked the plot development since at the beginning, the FL lived as a frightened concubine who... more>> just didn't want to attract too much attention which is quite different from the usual jack of all trades flashy entrance from others. The ML was also not an unreasonable character which makes it easier to love him. If you are looking for something interesting to read, this is on top of my recommendation list! <<less

It's a good read, FL is really cool as a transmigrator She's quite down to earth, not so OP and the story is the tipical marshal family drama, side characters are really nice and MC is the smart-foolish-cute type

I think the difference on whether or not this a "good" story or a "great" one really depends on how many stories you've read that feature the "side character turned main character" storyline before you started reading this one. It's not badly written, and in terms of light reading it's honestly pretty good. The first two books were really nice and MC was both competent and likable. I enjoyed watching her foil the schemes against her whilst maintaining a low key presence, I especially liked how she really tried to... more>> stay on the good side of the FL and trying to stop her from running away.

But the story gets tiring as the plot marches on. The FL turns from headstrong to simply inconceivably entitled, s*upid and only serves as a foil to make MC look good. MC herself turns from likable to boring, the story will never let you forget that she is the most Beautiful Concubine™ in the story and embodies all the qualities of a "perfect woman" in that time period (gorgeous, pure, kind, gentle, blah blah blah). The ML is very two dimensional, his personality could be summed up with aggressive, straight-laced and cold. Some chapters are a even a waste, for example MC fakes pregnancy symptoms to help ML's mother feel better/get excited over something happy. She then goes to explain to ML it was fake, but ML storms off angry, goes to drink wine for like.01 seconds, goes back home, then listens to MC's explanation of why she did it. This all happens in one chapter and does nothing for the plot or character development. Ive also found words missing from sentences several times, and while it wasn't a huge inconvenience I think it should still be said considering I paid for this book.

With everything said and done it's definitely not a bad story at all. The plot is interesting, the characters have a very strong start in the beginning, and overall it's a really nice story if this is your first ever "side character turned main character" story. However due to the sheer length of the story and filler chapters, it's easy to get reading fatigue and thus I must stop here for now. <<less

Love love lovvveeee itttt!!😍

I remember dropping this because of too much frustration due to the ML always being interrupted when eating the MC😉 Glad I picked it up again. Too bad the translator already published it in the Amazon.

I don't really get to read too often novels where MC is a little timid or a white flower, always the overpowered or super scheming type so DCF is really refreshing!!!

This story had a mixed review where one side stated that this story was just so so and another side stated that this story was quite good. After reading this, I decide to choose a second side that praised this story as quite good. Maybe I'm a bit biased because I'm a transmigration novel maniac but still I think this story was quite good and enjoyable.

This story started from MC that acted as a bystander and treated the world she was transmigrated at only as the world of a novel.... more>> Her goal was simple: to survive until she could come back to modern world. She also tried so hard to make ML and original FL (Lin Qianzi) fell in love with each other like in the original script but unfortunately, Lin Qianzi didn't appreciate it and chose to run away from her marriage with ML.

In order to survive, MC also tried to find herself a backer so she had a place to go when ML decided to send her away after his marriage with Lin Qianzi. She set her eyes on 2nd ML, Song Jiaoyue, who was also ML's best friend. But Song Jiaoyue didn't want to risk his friendship with ML and rejected her advance. In the end, MC could only try to make ML didn't hate her by acting as a harmless bunny so he will let her leave unscathed in the future. But accidentally, her action made ML fell in love with her instead.

I really enjoyed how MC acted as a white lotus in order to gain old madam and ML's sympathy.

But it's still a bit annoying when she kept getting hurt for more than 100 chapters and met physician more than meeting ML.

Usually, the other transmigrator in other transmigration novel often standed out above the masses, thanks to their cheats. But MC chose to be low profile although she had a cheat too.

Her cheat was a bit cute. It's a cactus that could act as a wiretap and could also predict the outcome of some events. It also could communicate with other cactus around the world.

Unfortunately, in the end she also forced to reveal herself in order to save ML's life but she still didn't stand out as much as the other transmigrator that was also her past life's archenemesis, Su Yun. The battle between the 2 transmigrators were also the highlight of this novel.

And don't forget about Lin Qianzi. I don't know what's wrong with her brain. She kept blaming ML and MC for her misfortune when it was she who brought it herself. I hate how she took the men who loved her wholeheartedly for granted.

Such as Luo Yunzheng and Ji Zhangsu. Both loved Lin Qianzi to the bones. Luo Yunzheng even had a child with her but she still run away from both of them and chose to be with Duan Yunyin, the enemy prince who only wanted to use her for assassinating ML. It's kind of sad too because they didn't have a happy ending like other supporting ML. Luo Yunzheng lost his child (thanks to Lin Qianzi) and didn't end up with anyone else till the end of the story. And Ji Zhangsu got banished by his family because they were afraid to get implicated by Lin Qianzi who was Ji Zhangsu's ex wife.

ML and MC's other 2 suitor (Song Jiaoyue and Yu Kuang) were are likeable character. I almost wanted MC to end up with all of them (ups, forgive my reverse harem fantasy).

ML had a cold and boring temperament but he devoted himself for MC and didn't have any concubines beside MC. Song Jiaoyue was a nice and romantic guy but he had many concubines at home. Yu Kuang had a split personality but his other personality was so cute. I personally think that he was the most suitable man for MC because there's not much drama in Jianghu (aside from assassination attempt) and Yu Kuang also a devoted man himself. Too bad they're not meant to be. Well, at least Song Jiaoyue and Yu Kuang had their happy ending. <<less

This is quite literally one of my favorites among favorites. I’ve read it 3 times now.

As far as translation goes: Being volarenovels, the translation quality is top-notch.

If you want a transmigration (isekai) story that takes place in a romance novel, than this one is for you. The story contains a good mix of action and romance, delivering a smart and well-rounded plot, a great ensemble of characters, and some fantastic comedic use of overused tropes.

Although the MC has some unbelievable abilities, she remains grounded enough for readers to still relate... more>> and is not so OP that every obstacle she faces is met with ease. In fact, quite a few times she finds herself in some rather compromising situations and it’s really thanks to her foreknowledge as well as hard work and a bit of luck that she manages.

For example, she has knowledge of how to make grenade/bombs because her cactus is like a Google index, and she knows the plot of the novel, but she still has to figure out how to escape her captives in one piece and even with the grenade knowledge she is using gunpowder in a logical way — like how ancient China did. It’s not like they brought completely new weapons and technology into the ancient era, if that makes sense.

While the romance itself is great, especially for those who like devoted couples, what really sets this story apart from all others is the comedy. Without giving anything away, basically it’s an author who knows the genre and tropes of romance transmigration stories and uses it to its full comedic effect without any in-your-face slapstick or 4th wall breaking.

A true cannon fodder classic. 5 stars. <<less

I always avoid reading this because the reviews says that she's like rabbit and tamed whatsoever; and I do not like a passive character. But, she's not really passive as I thought. She progresses from going with flow and just focusing in her safety to having her own initiative; from reserved and timid to freeing herself (personality). Her response and agency actually makes sense. You don't really get used to ancient times real quick so, it makes sense that she will ore reserved at first.

Not a big deal (just my... more>> preference), but I wish there are more scenes with MC and luo y... ng (forgot his name). Their dynamic is cute. They are both frank with each other, not holding back their words.

It was a super fun read. I find both of their relationship and the growth so funny and fluffy.

Do I recommend it? Yes BUT I personally find the whole thing leaning more on fluff than the whole political and war thing. So if u don't mind then go ahead.

ALSO, now that I think about it. It kind of gives off this 'chaotic vibe' like there's a lot of things thrown into the story that is not necessary for the plot. Well it's still a fun read.

To be honest, Bai Xiangxiu... more>> is very irritating at first. I understand that girly needs to find a way to avoid the bad end but I just find the way she chased SJ annoying. I felt bad for the ML. I understand her ok but I just cant help but feel bad for the ML. Also ML has been rough (even tho most of it is due to his lack of exp in relationship) on her at first.

Also the orig FL (Lin Q) is mental. I do feel bad for how it turned out for her. She's naive alright. She's s*upid too. But I kind of want her end part to be at peace or at least have her resolve her messy mentality.

What I like about FL is that she knows when to stand her ground. She knows how to make use of her acting skills and the time to use it lol. And also that doctor who ad-libbed for her was so funny.

At some point it will get boring and seem like a drag but personally I think it's worth reading til it's end. Also at some point Song J becomes pathetic. Dude really had it rough with all his regrets and whatnot but his situation really just appeals pathetic to me. I like Yu K tho. <<less

Author seems to be out for blood for original FL and had her r*ped by almost everyone and pinned it down to her despicable character. At first, Original FL was really dumb and naive which lead to her early demise. But ofc she was a victim since she was r****. A pity that the author didn't treat her well and just utterly destroyed her in the end.

Author really like vigorous men that are out to r*** their women. I think FL was pretty much r*** but the author had a leeway saying it was a "rule" that she wouldn't get out of bed after 3 days whenever they'd do it.. Also, since this is a CN, a lot of aphrodisiacs were used leading to r*** for various characters. I also have to point out that one of the villainess said why should men be the only one who can f*** around while women can't? I totally agree with her but since this was set in the ancient times ofc this didn't conform to society.

What I find annoying about this novel is the double standards of the author. While Lin Qianzi is vilified for allowing the supporting male characters take advantage of her, the FL is simply exonerated by the ML and all the supporting male characters after her for doing the exact same thing:

[She sleeps in the same bed with an adult man, his mental disposition regardless, not once but twice which is unacceptable whether in ancient China or modern China.]

I really liked this story. The drama and the action plus the karmic justice!

The MC might have been weak in the beginning but this is because she was in the body of a woman who grew up sheltered plus she was from the modern world where stuff like mu*der doesn't happen in front of everyone, plus she did try to keep low key to protect herself from the other women so as -not to end up dead as the original did.

She did evolve and grow and became a very strong... more>> character, her development was great!

I love the other cute ones who loved her also

but she stayed true and loyal and though others persuade her she stayed faithful. You could tell the ML and she really loved each other and soon became like an old married couple fused with newlyweds even years after the marriage.

I love that everyone got what they deserved.

5/5 stars for the translation and the story, I was hooked after reading the first 10 chapters and looked elsewhere to read it online, it is also available on Amazon for kindle/ereaders. <<less

This was such a fun read!!! It was lighthearted without too much drama (well there is still a few deaths here & there but compared to others this is pretty light). I love that the FL (Bai Xiangxiu) wasn't the outrageous & ambitious "only-i-can-save-everyone" type and was just wanting too live a peaceful & lowkey life. I was much curious about her original body tho, since she didn't actually "die" to get transmigrated but her soul out of nowhere did and there was a part in her dream (her consciousness... more>> slipping back to her modern world self) where she was taken at a hospital at some point, so I am pretty curious if she actually died or she stayed in coma or woke up in a dream eventually in the future because these weren't really answered unlike the other girl
