She had somehow ended up transmigrating into the book as the supporting female lead, who was beaten to death! Deeply in love with the male lead, she’s fated to be beaten to a bloody pulp before even holding hands with him?!

First things first, she needs to survive and latch onto the big thigh of a patron. But the supporting male lead is a true gentleman and feels nothing for her stunning, alluring body. That’s alright! She’ll latch onto the old madame or the male lead then!

But why does the supporting male lead look at her with increasingly odd eyes? And what of that Wulin Alliance Head with the personality disorder? You’re just a random bystander, what are you getting involved for??

Finally, the male lead could bear it no longer and dragged her back to the Prince Li Manor…

I highly recommend this novel to at least try it out yourself, because the 2 star reviews I read on this site are subjective to a really high extent.

5 stars from me until around chapter 200.

What I like about this novel:

    • Our MC knows about the tropes of transmigration novels (f.e. White lotus flower female led) and therefore there will be funny situations created about the s*upidity of the tropes and cliches of these novels.
    • A lot of creative (for the most time) misunderstandings, that causes the MC to shine in a good light, which causes the reader to have a good feeling and sometimes a good laugh at the scenes.
    • Realistic ML for his position and the ancient times. Regardeless, there is character growth and he changes, because he loves the MC. Be aware, he is still a man from ancient times, so he will be possesive. The social values from ancient times are different, than our values. Yes, I look at you, 2 star reviews ;D
    • I can't put my finger on everything, but I had 99% of the time a good fluffy and cozy feeling while reading it (until around chapter 200).
Sadly the novel changes at around chapter 200. The MC and the coldblooded ML are too kindhearted to some enemies or to s*upid (why use an easy way to kill, if it could be done more difficult and with a chance for the enemy to escape?) to kill them and just let them live, which caused more heavy trouble/drama later. Also at around this chapter, the story about a growing relationship between MC and ML is mostly done. The story now is more about helping the ML to defeat enemies on the battlefield, rescuing the ML, betraying etc. Basically, at around here, the cozy and fluffy feelings are gone. There is a lot of drama, because of very obvious plotholes and infuriating, s*upid, forced and utterly ridiculous plotlines, that shouldn't happen, because it goes against everything the novel told you about rules and society.

I'm not motivated to finish this novel, since it shifted its focus from romance to a military/strategy/DRAMA novel and the author doesn't know how to write a a military/strategy/DRAMA novel.

I have re-read this novel multiple times. However, I can't bring myself to give it 5 stars rating.

It truly is an interesting read, as it started out with the MC being a concubine, which made it difficult for her to survive in ancient times. The many ways she try to bring the "heroine" and ML together is really cute. The ML is domineering and can be overbearing.

Spoiler

The consent is questionable for the first time the ML slept with MC. Following that first time, I can't really tell in terms of consent, as it seems like ML was rejecting it because MC is bad at it. Hence, the resistance is because of how bad the ML is at it than her rejecting the ML and not wanting him at all. I suppose the only way he could get better is with practice?

It does get really unrealistic at some point, which is why I gave it a 4. Later along the story, the MC knows warring strategies, which is totally strange. MC studied horticulture, but understands warfare and how to create gun power. This is a tad too much for my liking.

Overall, their interaction is rather funny, as two clueless people getting together. <<less

In many ways, this is silly, and in more ways, it's just fun~ This was a fun read. Definitely recommended for readers who like the transmigration genre but with a non-blackened MC.

Loved it... there's violence, r*pe and other stuff that may be too much for people. But considering the time period, it is the reality of how life really was. I'm impressed by the author's decision to incorporate these type hard to swallow scenes in there, despite this being a romance novel. Then again, I'm a 30 year old woman, who can handle this type of novel lol

This is such a joyful novel. I feel refreshed after reading it. Novel is light, calm and comedic. It made me laugh, chuckle and feel giddy while reading. It has so much fluff, I love it.

i wanted to read more about their children when they grew up but the extras didn't have that. *Sigh*

This was a very fun novel.

As far as emotions go, it kept my attention the entire time. The beginning was nerve wracking and twisty, the middle was very entertaining and unique, and the ending was a fluffy solid ending. I'm very satisfied with it. Many smiles and giggles. Almost tears at some parts, too. Very comedic, but there is the very real potential for tragedy in every chapter.

As far as pace goes, it starts of a bit bumpy, but if you stick it out, the novel smooths out once the... more>> ML and FL solidify their relationship.

Plot is fantastic. It's realistic without being gritty. There's a few stretches here and there (they live in a novel, after all), but the emotions are all very accurate and easy to emphasize with. Nothing is ever predictable, and things surprise the characters more than the reader sometimes!

The characters are adorable!!! This is the main reason I read the whole novel. The MC is reasonably capable and has some wits without being OP, but her flirting and strange ideas are a hoot. Her thoughts jump around, and she's easily excited and frustrated. It's easy to laugh even when bad things happen due to her attitude of "who's this poor sap throwing a tantrum? Don't they know they're breaking 15 laws??" Or "I just survived death, slept in mud and cold for days, cured the plague, and you're asking me to make soup??? I want to sleep???" Its very dramatic, but surprisingly relatable.

ML gets his fair share of positive traits as well. Even with his ancient times setting, he really does (eventually) care about our MC, and he doesn't really do anything condemnable before or after that. He has a good head on his shoulders, respects the respectable, punishes the people who make trouble, and protects his people. He has normal goals, too. No OP powers here. He's just a respected general who wants to survive with his family in the turmoil after the war is over. He's a good guy. He does speak sparingly, but he's used to giving marching orders, not reading poetry. Plus, I think he does it mostly to mess with MC is the second half. XP

The translation is also really good. They worked really hard, and did their best to not only translate accurately, but keep the tone and flow! Their comments community is also very positive, as they deserve. Massive kudos to everyone on their site. Ya'll deserve the world for making this story beautiful. ? If you read all this and still aren't sure if you should read it or not, just give it a try. Reading this review probably took longer than reading the first chapter will.

Sorry for the long post, here's a 5 potato rating (lol) :

First novel that I've finished reading so just because of that it already has a place in my heart.

Other reasons made this gain a permanent place in there. It's adorable. Our MC is adorable. Our ML is weirdly adorable (after a certain point of time). Huo'er is an overdose of cuteness.

It's a super light read with a diferent kind of transmigrated MC. Her objective is not revenge or being the strongest or even "live life to the fullest", no no no! Her only objective is to stay alive!! And be... more>> low profile!! But mostly stay alive!!!!!

Our MC is a female-lead-that-it's-not-a-female-lead and it's terrified of the male lead. The fact that she's a concubine that always run away from her husband instead of trying to craw into his bed it's what made the ML interested about her in the first place. That and the fact that she looks crazy (she speaks to a cactus, for chrissake). And that's more of less the beginning of the story of How I Met Your Moth... oops how she tries it all to run away from the ML.

Ps.: Supporting male lead 1, I don't like you. No reason, you just creep me out ¯_ (ツ) _/¯

Ps².: Random passerby Wulin Leader version 2, you're so cute cute. You should have been adopted by our MC <3

Greatest mistake of the author:

Spoiler

NOT killing that b*tchass fake female lead (not our MC). Ohmigosh, she's sooooooooooooo annoying!!! And worst than a c*ckroach!!!

The story overall had a good premises. Regarding the fact that it was about a female who transmigrated into the supporting lead in a story placed in ancient times. In order to not to get herself killed she devised a plan to keep herself safe from the male lead and original female lead of the story. Due to supporting female leads never end up surviving in these romance stories.

The story was promising in the beginning from making us laugh due to the clumsiness of the female lead. Also due to... more>> her being naive to the feelings of others. But as the story progressed the story kept repeating herself. From her getting injured AT EVERY POSSIBLE MOMENT! I know what you're thinking, the female lead could just be that fragile. However they kept using her injuries as to lure the men which was fine the first couple of times. But when the "getting injured" scene keeps replaying I can't help but be frustrated. It seems like a lazy device to further the story. But it felt like it was keeping the story stuck in the same place and never letting things move forward.

Overall the story was good until things kept repeating itself and I frankly got tired of the lack developement of the story. The story has 200+ chapters but I just can't keep myself reading this because the story doesn't excite me anymore. I really wished the storyline had more twist and turns which would keep me on my toes. It just wasn't what I hoped for.

If you like a weak female lead I guess this a story for you :)))) <<less

Good story with a lacklustre ending, I'd imagine this story had a good 100-200 chapters left to finish explaining plot elements. Disappointing but that wasn't the focus, the focus was the romance in the story which I think was done very well! I just pay too much attention to the details...

This LN is good for light reading and passing time. MC is just being herself and tries hard to achieve her goal, ML is... fine, the interaction between MC and ML was really fluffy.

Spoiler

The only thing I should point out was the 'reverse Harem', all the supporting character end up liking MC and would do anything to help her, so if you don't like reverse harem tag, you should move on and read something else

Okay so I haven't read all of the novel only up to about 50 or so chapters but at this point I'm done. It had a cute beginning and as others have said around 100 or so chapters that's when you should stop. From what I have read though it was a pretty nice, enojoyable read. However I don't like is the direction it's going and have suddenly lost all will to read. Maybe I'll come back to this in the near future or maybe I won't. One of the best transmigrator novel here. The MC is a herbologist who was reading the novel story before she was transmigrate into the body of a more-beautiful-than-doll concubine then slowly replace the position of female lead. With her beauty and knowledge of plants she mesmerized the ML and his family and supporting male leads in the first two third of the novel. In the last third of the novel, the MC transform into a formidable general who was loved by many. The supporting characters are also written with more... more>> ambiance and not just there as plot.

The translations is smooth as what you expected from one of the top chinese light novel translators site. And the readers community (who call themselves as the Bushiis) is amazing. There are tons of fanficts in the comment section and in ToC that will warm your heart. <<less

I have mixed feelings about this novel.

The first half or so were a comedic novel about a woman who transmigrates via cactus and her trying to navigate the plot as a cannon fodder. I thought the plot was relatively lighthearted and the character interactions were funny with misunderstandings galore.

Then the 'romance' starts setting in and the story gets more serious for a good while. At that point, the novel really starts to get bogged down. The MC's relationship with the male lead is based on a facade, the facade of... more>> her being a meek and fragile woman of the times. She can't communicate with him properly because of genuine fear and she never really shows her trueself. And he falls in love with this part of her.

Next, the story gets more serious and the MC gets more and more explained super powers and the antagonists get much more ridiculous and annoying. The c*ckroach antagonists drag on for so long and the MC gets such random deus ex machinas that it feels like the author wrote the story into a rut and just had to plot hole a way out.

Additionally, by this point I genuinely preferred the two side male leads (esp the 3rd one who she met very late but I felt was the best suited to her because they interact without a facade, he comments on her inability to talk freely with the male lead btw and I agree)

The last fifth of the novel perks up the story again just because it gets back into a more light hearted mood and delves straight into face slapping, the relationship does become much sweeter because she does show her true self and their interactions get much more enjoyable. It feels like the novel isn't taking itself too seriously and that's what makes it fun to read.

Overall, I almost prefer the 2 chapter side romance of her maid to the main characters romance. The first part and very last part of the novel are the best parts, The middle is draggy and full of eye-rolling moments and distracts from the general quality of the novel. <<less

This is honestly one of the best stories in it's genre.

The MC is great, the ML... becomes better. I love that the premise of the story is actually less about surviving and being successful and more about just trying not to die in a miserable way. The second half got a little bit complicated with other characters but by then I was already rooting for the main characters.

I just found out that I haven’t rate amd review this nice novel while search for new novel to continue my day.

I enjoy this novel a lot, very funny and had some logic in it. MC is not some go-lucky-everytime MC like in other novels, she suffered no less in author’s hand and that’s what made me like it.

ML is so cut for his first love and other MLs also not bad, they have their own prospective and that’s the unique fun about this novel. The author must had a... more>> hard time thinking how to build each of the main character’s thought. <<less

Boy is this novel a disappointment. The author may have created the weakest and most pathetic MC in all of literature. She is so fragile it borders on absurdism. Consider this, the MC has been injured, sick or unconscious for all 40 chapters that I have so far read, she cannot walk unsupported, literally broke her nose by bumping into the back of someone, and has fainted more times than I care to count. She has fainted from thinking too hard.

I honestly cannot find comedy in reading about a girl... more>> suffering physical trauma, self inflicted or not. I also cannot understand why fragility and physical weakness is considered as attractive traits in women. Call me a feminist but I personally think a fit and healthy woman who looks capable of surviving childbirth is very sexy. It is downright depressing to read. Had to put this one down early <<less

Just picked this up and finished it in five days and I have got to say, hands down, one of the best transmigration novels I have read on this site so far. I love this novel because it’s not the typical transmigrator novel where the girl is trying to become the top dog there and whatnot, the female MC just wants to survive and she’s smart enough to do so by applying what she learned in the modern world.

Spoiler

As someone who reads a bunch of novels and watchs a bunch of Chinese historical dramas, I found it hilarious how she’d think back to books or dramas she’s watched and try to overcome her problem. I wonder if I was ever transmigrated, would I survive with my vast knowledge from reading novels and watching dramas haha

[collapse]

I do also love the romance between the mains. It’s not too forced like how it is with some transmigration novels out there and I do like that it took time for them to warm up to each other and be comfortable, like how a real relationship would’ve developed where they were in an arranged marriage; not like in other novels where they fall in love so quickly that I wonder, “So why does he like her again???”

The character development is quite nice too. But towards the end it started to get a little bit draggy for me, but overall I really liked this novel and would definitely recommend this! <<less

Honestly, I really enjoyed reading this novel. The translation to English was great, and the consistency in the updates almost made me cry tears of joy (how many translators do you know that promise to update every day and actually keeps up with it? For me it's a handful at best). I first started reading this novel when it was only at 10 chapters and now it's finished, and I can't be happier!

The main character is an interesting person who is slightly naive but also extremely calculating when the situation... more>> calls for it. She's definitely not a cowering bunny who needs protection from the ML. Most of the time, she takes care of her own problems or manipulates the people around her to take care of her problems. The number of misunderstandings between the ML and the MC is ridiculous but in a rather comedic way (mostly misunderstandings on the ML's part who still believes MC is a delicate flower who needs protection despite multiple example proving his wrong). Despite the general heaviness, you would expect in a novel like it, it was actually rather light-hearted for the most part. The relationship between the ML and MC developed slowly, which I liked, and I enjoyed how doting and protective the ML was for the MC in times of crisis despite knowing she could take care of herself. The MIL I could do without though. Despite seeing the good relationship between the MC and ML, she still pressed him to have concubines or to have MC as a concubine and get the main wife from a noble family. However, this can probably be blamed on her traditional mindset and upbringing (though I'm still not a fan regardless of excuses). It took the ML personally speaking to her, for her to stop requesting more females to enter the household.

Something that really interested me was the rather harsh reality the novel explored in the life of a concubine. Unlike other novels that portray the life of a concubine through rose-colored lenses, this novel shows the truth of what it was like to live as a concubine. In truth, concubines are just property who live and breath and eat based on the whims of their master. If the master of the house isn't satisfied with them or they made a mistake then they can immediately be beaten or sold without any repercussion to the household. Any modern woman in her right mind would never agree to be a concubine and for good reason.

Overall, this is definitely a novel that I would recommend reading! Despite the 295 chapters, I guarantee you'll finish it quickly. I've already read this three times and it's still one of my fav reads. <<less

I don't understand why people rate this story up to 2 stars only and accused the ML to be abusive.

This totally a good story if I can say. With some cliche and twist, it ended at nearly 300 chapters.

The ML is quite domineering as he is the general but his interaction with the MC is quite hilarious and sweet. I don't understand why some people say he r*ped the MC but for me no. If someone like the man to be like prince charming, gentle and kind, this is... more>> not the one you should read.

I truly like the MC. She slowly adapt to the new world and not suddenly act. She also knows what to do with the one that have feelings for her.

Overall the story quite fun but it is better if there's more story about their children. <<less
