The plot is pretty average (I think).

This is my 2nd LN after Overlord so I'm very new to LNs but I gotta say this LN felt very mediocre, the MC is ruthless when needed, cherishes his friendship, savage, OP but the plot later on gets boring!

the 1st girl was pretty innocent and this guy keeps getting more wives....I feel bad for YanChenYu. I mean it was okay till Wu NingZhu but after that It's getting ridiculous! I have dropped 2 times due to this harem plot but..... still it's my 1st Chinese LN so I wanna complete it!

I noticed that most reviews are not really recent and some did not read more than 1500~ chapters.

Objectively the novel is not the best, because it is repetitive, one-dimensional characters, OP as hell main character, draggy descriptions about how pills are created, etc.

There are a lot of arguments to call this novel bad and were also said in other reviews. So now you wonder why did I gave it a high rating? 1. The novel is to be honest pretty damn entertaining if you read a few chapters/arc from time to time. (So I do not recommend to binge-read it)

2. The antagonist Nan Bei Chao is actually pretty fun to read. Every arc I could laugh about

the fact how Nan Bei Chao is getting hyped up and then is getting rolled by Jiang Chen.

3. The dog (Big Yellow) was the most irritating character in the beginning, but even this character grew on me. Making me feel that this novel would not feel totally complete without the tr*sh talk of Big Yellow. Since it makes every fight hilariously comical.

4. I really like the aggresion in how Jiang Chen was destroying every enemy. Like it was most

of the times so brutal that I would laugh a lot.

In my opinion you only should read this novel if you just want to kill some time + you must not take this novel too serious, otherwise it would be really anti-fun. And like other reviewers said do not have high expectations. Just go into the novel to read some violence and sometimes have a good laugh. So this novel is good for people seeking a casual read.

O and btw, there is progress in the story but really slow:

The personality of Jiang Chen does not really change through the whole story (no character development), but he does get more dragon marks, collects his sword and his saint bones. And in the end ascends to immortal world. Where he actually "resets" his rank and for the first time actual needs to "cultivate". Even the dog gets his own background story. And his dad was mistreated in the immortal world (what never happened before, since Jiang Chen was top OP). So the story is not 100% boring/repetitive like some reviews make it out to be. It has honestly not a deep plot (pretty shallow and generic), contains cliches and is predictable, but that is not really a problem, if you read this novel not too serious (what I mentioned earlier).

It started over at chapter 1000. Cultivation levels started over but only Immortal name was added in front of them. Nothing is explained about cultivation

At king realm something you need to learn law of spaces to travel faster but when MC went to immortal world in their immortal king realm they need to learn law of spaces to do the same sh*t again

You could easily start reading from chapter 1000 and only miss things that I could explain in 2 sentences.

It was quite good at the start but as you get deeper into the story you see a repeating pattern for the plot lines

The MC is s*upid.

The author has purposely left obvious ret*rding holes in the story just so that the villian can come again and again to cause more trouble

Like the same villian escapes like 4 f*cking times.

Literally there is this same villain for 1000 chp

Every enemy is the same, arrogant character. If they had the same color robe you wouldn't be able to tell the difference.

He's the apex from the beginning, so nothing about the character changes besides his cultivation level.

... more>> Author is formulaic for every fight. Three bystanders say some form of "he can't do it, the other guy is so strong." "The other guy has done this and that, how can MC be a match." "Idk, he's done THE EXACT SAME THING BEFORE. Maybe, just maybe he can pull this one off."

Pros:

Funny characters and brotherhood.

I love an angry, savage MC.

I wanna see how strong he gets and what new powers he will unlock. <<less

This is one of the (very) few harem novels I will read. The MC focuses more on action than women and although he does get sidetracked sometimes by a pretty face I can ignore it. His fighting and skills as he levels up is very fun to read about and it doesn´t jump up too fast in my opinion. The author is bale to make it look believable as he gets stronger which is pretty rare in cultivation novels with OP MCs. Big Yellow is a great character too! He... more>> matches the MCs shamelessness perfectly and is just as strong and memorable. And maybe even more well known.... It´s a great book so far! <<less

It was nice at first but as it get further into the latter part, it start to get really repeatable plot non-stop and how he even fall in love with one of the wife in his harem still baffle alot of reader especially considering that girl did barely anything beside forgetting her memory and getting save then forget memory and save again just to tell MC, I will never trust you till even further part ahead then she be like I am sorry like wtf ???

Nothing like those other PG novels with s*upid main characters that lets enemies get away again and again.

I've only read 1000 ch so far and honestly do like it it's not all about obtaining women have like 20 wife's by now the plot might be alittle off but the more u read the more u just start to enjoy it it's a great novel but like every novel has it moments of being great and lame tho personlly I hope he ends up with more then 2 wife's lol

Somewhere there, I dropped it due to being the latest chapter at the time.

The comedy was particularly great when introduced but slowly dies on you once the gag is reused at so many points. It only had one love interest at this point but seeing that there is a harem tag, I left at when it was okay to leave.

As many have stated, the premise from one plot to the next is really regurgitated. Literally a path of character carnage in the sense that the author tries to kill off... more>> as many names to avoid being told they forgot about this person half way into the series.

With over 4k chapters and ongoing, it's not worth the read from a statistical point of view. <<less

I read more than 2200 chapters, I don't remmember exactly where I stop.

Well, I have stoped this novel for now. There are a lot of chapters I was a little tired. But I really like the MC, but he just like to cultivate and the girls stay aside, not that much important. But he really feel for his friends e lovers, just dont touch the lovers, why? I don't know yet, maybe the author don't like this kind of novel.

I remmember that the people with great talent also ascend to higher world with him, like Han Yan, Monk, Monkey and Big Yellow dog. There is a great chapter that all the friends are reunited and fight a enemy who wants Jiang Chen, it's very epic.

Yes, the word makes the novel is "epic" with a epic MC.

But as some other people also said, the author really repeat the plot, yes. He ascend weak and quicly become strong, kill enemys, be strongest and then, ascend... But it's not that bad as they say <<less

DEFINITELY ONE OF MY MOST FAVORITE NOVELS WITH MARTIAL ARTS THEME.

Out of all the novels I read in this genre, this is definitely one of my most favourites one. I know some people complained about the fact that it has the same plot as other novels but in my opinion, it has some points that make this novel fun.

The first thing is MC. He is ruthless and knowledgeable. It may seem like he kills rashly but I like how he eliminates the enemy before they come back for their s*upid... more>> revenge. Unlike other MCs, I saw so far he definitely is the most refreshing one. He schemes, He is shameless, He is so fun that made me read the novel until the very last chapters. I also love other Main characters (MC Friends) they all have their unique characteristics and even though they don't appear in some chapters, the readers can't forget them. They may disappear for some chapters but there is a good reason for it and it is not like MC keeps forgetting them.

The other thing I like about this novel is that MC Harem girls are not clingy and they all have strong characteristics which, made me enjoy the romance very much. (I'm not a fan of harem girls tbh but this novel is an exception).

There were a lot of fun moments between the main characters which never made this novel boring, yes, I admit sometimes the whole killing\chasing thing was boring but Fun chapters after that were worth it.

I definitely recommend reading this novel and try to know this MC that is different from typical MCs in this genre. <<less

Dragon Marked War God is a very good novel in terms of world building and cultivation but unfortunately when it comes the the MC cultivation method its very limited and not well done, the MC is shown to have a very powerful physical to the point where its absolutely incomparable to anyone of same cultivation level, and even above his own which is one the of the reasons he can fight people above his cultivation level, but as the novel goes on its shown to be very bad because even... more>> though his body gets absolutely insane in terms of strength, his combat ability seems to never be able to go past a few levels above him in terms of cultivation, if the made the MC have this insane physical cultivation technique, why not use it more often and portray it better?

The MC cultivates a physical cultivation method shown to increase his strength by 10000 jin (5000kg) every *mark* he creates through cultivation, later on he cultivates tens of thousands or even over one hundred thousand marks (currently he has over 1.5 billion kg of strength (300k marks/3 billion jin) yet his enemies which are a few levels above him seem to be able to injure him and survive a strike of that force, its insane since that amount of strength could destroy continents or even a moon/small planet, yet somehow if his enemy is a realm above him, he can shrug it off because he's a realm above so he must be powerful right? And the requirement to level up his cultivation becomes even worse over time, requiring even more marks for every level up, right now he needs 50k marks to levelup, but what if it becomes 100k? Or even more as the story goes on, that level of strength in a body should make him insanely strong and be able to make him fight a realm or 2 above him, but no its only even 3 or 4 cultivation levels, which is very s*upid.

Romance wise the MC doesn't have a "harem", he only has 2 women whom he met through reasons which are completely understandable as to why he fell in love with him and they have good character development in my opinion.

All in all definitely recommend this to people who like constant adventuring/fights and less focused on management/business etc type novels. <<less

So pretty much a really good novel, it’s not slow nor too fast. The protagonist is smart and powerful and the cultivation art he has is really epic, transforming into a dragon. The part with Nan Bei Chao was a bit annoying, not dying after all these tries but it was revealed later that he was no mob character but most likely a BOSS. There are not too many filler chapters and although it may seem it’s going kinda fast with its chapters, Jiang Chen hasn’t stepped into Immortality yet so I think the author did a good job with a big novel, not too slow like Martial God Asura or Against The Gods but also not too fast so you can’t understand. I recommend it!

This novel is all around pretty good there's enough comedy and other bits that it is not to horribly repetitive.

to an extent 3/4 of the story is " who do you thing you are, you offended my clan you must die." the writer seems to be attempting to weave a long term plot agenda the build up to it seems to be a tad slow so far but with the comedy and other parts often covering for the progression speed. Since the story line that the writer appears to be... more>> building is going slowly its hard to tell if they have a large amount of plot background to build up or if they are wondering a bit to get to the proper story only time will tell. This is the kind of novel where you skip read 50% of the chapter yet somehow it still feels oddly enjoyable. If the harem tag is turning you off... how should I put it. The women fell in love to MC because he's super reliable (aka God-grade plot armor). Moreover, they somehow miraculously clicked with each other so meh, whatever.

It's like reading Li QiYe tbh, only less OPed and less dramatical. A truly braindead-inducing story, nonetheless still amusing for your palate.

One of my favorite novels that im waiting for it's everyday release :D

For me its fast pace compared to other novels that has the same genre. MC is the GREATEST SAINT UNDERNEATH THE HEAVEN so he's super OP. Always has a plan for different scenarios specially for the worst scenarios, well most of the time. Then theres the... more>> 10/10 comedy. It gets me everytime. Lol. And no b*tchy heroine well not for now maybe. And many more.

This novel is so good in so many ways.

It's sooo good. The more you read, the more you want to go to the next chapter to read more!

I can say that this novel is one of my top five best novels that I read so far.

The way that te main character deal with the problems that pop's up is so thrilling and funny that I always have cramps while laughing.

The reincarnation that the writer uses to base his novel is very good because the way he uses it I've never seen anyone using before. The ruthlessness of the MC is quite common in novel recently, but in this novel it has a special flavour.

ok in just gonna start of saying that the most exciting parts in this novel for me is when he's cultivation those dragon things. What I don't enjoy about it is that it gets really repetitive at times. Goes to sect meets arrogant young master, beats young master. Goes to new place, meets arrogant people, beats arrogant people up. What I don't like is how all the strong characters that the main character meets are all phsycopaths. Another thing is that the yellow dog (the comedic relief) can be annoying... more>> as hell sometimes. What annoys me the most is how people (who rate it highly) keep trying to justify the main character killing people. Ok I get that and all, but the author made it so that people who don't kill are considered weak and tr*sh. Clearly in one of the tournaments the main character didn't kill someone and than everyone starts calling him weak and pathetic.... basically everyone who exists to annoy jiang Chen are destined to die. This is my opinion and all but the side characters are incredibly dry. They exist to glorify jiang Chen's existence

ok so this part has nothing to do with the review but what I find funny is that the one star reviewers think the main character's a d*ck while the five star reviewers try to justify main character killing people.

Last thing I have to say is that everyone's entitled to their review. Stop calling each other ret*rds because you find someone else's "opinion" different from yours <<less

Yeah it sounds better than other xuanhuan, but god, just knowing that it's better than xuanhuan only makes it worse. It no longer has that strange, disgusting vibe to it that makes you expect less and the fact that it's halfway there stops it from being so bad it's good it's just plain bad. It's like that man of steel movie. It's not a problem that it's bad, it's a problem that it's raising ppl expectation before taking a gigantic sh*t on it.

Read it if you like, not that many... more>> xuanhuans have an average rating better than 4 so this ought to get something right. 3/5 out of me, on grace point that I don't like xuanhuan in the 1st place. <<less
