However, that village is ruled by Humans, and the Elves are treated as livestock. After becoming 14 years old, Syril, who regained his past knowledge and experience, stands up to help a girl, who is his childhood friend. The last chapter I’ve read is chapter eight of volume two. Other than the information found on the synopsis, another premise of the story is building a community to stand up against their oppressors. The Kingdom Building tag led me to read this novel, and I'm surprised that only a few novels have a Kingdom Building tag.

I’ve rated it three because the execution of the story felt flat after volume one. If I’m going to rate volume one only, I could give this a four. If I’m going to rate... more>> volume two as a standalone, I’ll rate it two. Due to this reason, it’s imperative to split my review into two sections to be more objective; one portion is to review the first volume, while the other is to review the second.

The first volume of the novel felt balanced most of the time. The exposition at the beginning flowed well and it’s not a too-much-information moment. I’ve read worse prologue than this. The pacing is good but there are times when the story content is unnecessary. For example, there are irrelevant expositions about potato farming or unnecessary dialogues between the protagonist and the supposed-to-be heroine; either doesn’t characterize the characters or add value to the plot at all which I tend to skip. Don’t get me wrong, I did enjoy the science during the potato farming session or other information – which I don’t know the degree of verisimilitude – but it’s not the information I expected on this novel. What I want to learn about is the world surrounding the protagonist’s community; the political landscape of the setting; exploration about other characters within the community. The magic system is well thought out but not explained well. I liked the battle near the end of the volume.

Volume two is a nightmare. I’ll be honest, I skipped a lot of dialogue and narration; I even skipped a whole chapter which is about cooking. In one chapter, there’s too much unnecessary dialogue; I could count one or two dialogues that is necessary. There’s too much inspirational dialogue which I found redundant and unnecessary.

What stayed consistent throughout the novel regardless if it’s volume one or two is the character development. It is nonexistent except for the antagonist at early chapters – the antagonist vanished on later chapters too. It could be due to the protagonist being overpowered since the beginning. As compared with tensei shittara slime for other side characters’ development, this novel felt flat.

I just hope volume two picks up the pace or I’ll drop this novel. <<less

It's an okay read if you have nothing better to read just that the ending s**ked, that's why I'm giving it a 2 star instead of 3.

The story started off okay with decent world building, if you can ignored the fact that no one in the village even bothers to question why the MC knows the things he does and can do things no one else can, other than being a "genius" l, as a kid, then go ahead and read it.

The worst part in my opinion is that the... more>> description clearly states:

The story of the creation of an ideal country begins in that one village, a place where all races can coexist. Elves, Fox-girl, and various other Heroines.

but that doesn't really even happens and this is why the ending s**ked.
Spoiler

After declearimg thier village as a new country and going to war with the human country that ruled them, you'd would expect to see more world building of turning their small village into something that can actually be considered a country. But that'snot what happenes. Instead after the war with the human ends that's basically the end of the story. After the war it skips into the future where he already has a bunch of kids that are alraady grown, which I find it s*upid because the author could have spent more time into this work but rather than keep writing this they rather end this story prematurely and connect it to their other story that shares the same universe.

[collapse]

Also the MC is supposed to have all these cool and powerful other life-experiences/personality that he can tap into but that basically stops after the war
Spoiler

the ones that he did use sacrificed themselves during the war to save everyone because they were disappointed in the MC for being too much of a wuss and after that they never show up again and the story skips into the future where they hold no relevance for the few chapters before the story ends

[collapse]

A word of advice if you do decide to read this, IMHO, skip the what ifs chapters as they are boring and a waste of time, especially those leading up to the end of the story <<less

It's a fun-enough nation-building story at the beginning, with interesting fights and technology leaps. But the further it goes on the more the author tries new and less-interesting ideas.
Spoiler

Now we're stuck with a past-life lover commanding Imperial forces attacking the village.

[collapse]

We don't need any odd complications, they're not interesting and just confuse things. Do something like: imperial noble was running the situation, when MC rebelled, noble hid the situation until he couldn't anymore, then it was revealed. Now a more powerful army division is coming to fight the village.
