If you have ever stood under a large tree in a raised but quiet part of the city in just as the sun burst from behind clouds and rising mist, you might understand how this novel felt to me. It was like a breath of fresh air in an oversaturated genre. The strength of the writing shone through like gentle sunlight. The characters are fleshed out and well written despite it's compact chapters.

The world is typical for the entertainment line in modern times that it presents. Though, these are some... more>> fantastical elements to the relationship of status and the media, for the most part it presents an organized world that tries to resemble how urban novels are characterized in general.

The main character is over-powering. That's pretty much in line with how he is written and how the author wants to show us. Though, as the author loves to put it, it is facade. In day-to-day interactions, he is cunning but slothful. We, the readers, may be able to know this about him but the world outside of his close circle believes in this reinforced image of perfection. In many ways, he is the embodiment of the ideal modern Chinese gentleman - priviledged but persevering and well-educated, talented but humble, and famous but with a strong moral foundation and integrity. This character is embedded time and time again in the minds of the readers and his audience, that even when we see the parts of him that should contradict it and offer a fresher take, it is overshadowed by the halo the author had placed on his head. In many ways, this single point is lost through the continued raising of the pedestal. This character setting is very much in line with the sentiment of treasuring heritage and cultural history that is common to the trope.

What I do enjoy the most from this character is their view on family, love and fame. I enjoy how they navigate their family life with charm, and their sentiments about love and the lasting nature of it. It is in these instances that the author really shines. This beautiful and simple humility that can be felt in the first chunk of chapters brings with it a good framework for understanding the socio-economic criticism that happens within the novel.

The main lead may come from new money - often linked to ostentatious displays of wealth and misplaced grandeur- that in other novels with similar tones is portrayed as greedy and licentious. The greatest villain in this novel comes from an old family with great wealth and a rich history. Where one bred a perfect gentleman, the later bred a beast in man's skin. In many parts, the author tries to say that money is not an ultimate evil, the presence of lack of it does not mean ubiquitous moral loss or degeneration. Instead, it is in the devoted upbringing, cautious familial love and the constant polishing of character that defines whether priviledge becomes poison or panacea.

That does not mean that all people who are afforded the same circumstances as the main lead will turn out like him because of the unique circumstances he himself experienced. This dyes the vat, so to speak.

There is nothing much to the romantic partner in way of character building. In part, this is due to his singular devotion as a ⭐ cold president who is also a soft devoted lover becase of personal familial trauma that makes it so he is also sad but kinda protective ⭐ stock character. He does something well, though, he doesn't ask for answers or explains to many things. He is steadfast. It's ideal in that way but, at the same time, makes him a one-dimensional character.

I do enjoy the way and pace their romance progresses. It's subtle but also very pronounced in how it wants you to feel. There are lots of small hints and the acuity of our main character to see but there is also hesitance. There are no grand gestures, which makes their love a shining example of humble acceptance, gradual progress and the shared willingness to cooperatively build a life together. No one gives in and no one loses out.

This is what has kept me praising the novel. It's this subtly the romance was written, how people around them view their love, and how they venture into building a life with each other.

It's perfect. And because it is perfect, none of the main cast really develops as individuals. They don't grow but are presented. As if the author went to a potluck with "handmade, homecooked" pizza straight from the delivery box. All the did was transfer it onto a stone tray and gild it with cheese. This might be the preference of the author but it doesn't make the characters as memorable as they seem without the blessing of missing out on forgetfulness soup in their past life. (No, that's not a spoiler. If you read the novel, you would know. Don't gripe about the arbitrary.)

If there is anything that I wish the author had explored, it would be the socio-political aspect of it all. They placed the pair in unique socio-economic positions that have clear political implications. In their avoidance of it, there is no resolution. In many ways, the last bonus chapters revolving this is arbitrary at best. As if it was done for the sake of compliance and an inherent disassociation with the idea in and of itself.

It's not genre breaking or thought provoking. It's just yaoi OP romance done very well. (Plus some idealism in the social conditioning aspect, that I acknowledge adds a bow to the story but also really stunts the growth of the character and the expansion of the romance plot.) <<less

A chill story w smart MC that Reborn from the past.

MC is smart and does not have revenge unless provoke and though act elegant and good on public but lazy and cunning (when crossed) inside

ML fell for MC and show it, respect MC decision (when MC 1st reject ML confession) and help MC when ask (shameless MC that publicly declare he hug thigh)

So far, so good.

Correct me if I'm wrong but basically, while this is transmigration, I feel like it is more of rebirth. In Transmigration novels, they generally died and Transmigrated into different bodies who had original owners that died. What I cleaned so far was MC was born into this world aware of his previous life which is quite an interesting concept.

MC can be petty and can be ruthless but is also reasonable and his thoughts and logic makes me love him even more. Don't even get me started on... more>> MC's parents and their family scenes. Ahh, I love that.

Its somewhat similar to 'Very Happy' Qian Shao shares a similarity with MC of the mentioned novel except our MC here is much more open about his personality of not making his displeasures as is. Both MLs from the two stories also are somewhat similar. <<less

Yue Xia Die Ying's novels never dissapoint me. They are usually the smooth sailing type of story, but I think I prefer these more. I read stories for amusement and these type of light stories serve me well.

I think it's kinda weird how their relationship starts, but okay their progress still make sense. The MC is really blessed and I love how vindictive he can be. ML is so cute ahh he stole directors fan for our MC xD I felt ML is like a kid when he confessed to MC so cutee!!

ML met MC before when he became sucessful I think he had gd opinion about him and wanted to make frndship with him he was excited and lil bd at making frnds so got rejected by mc

as for him ignoring MC when he 1st saw during mc's 1st drama I think he was not sure that was the guy who helped him as mc's... more>> makeup was like old man? The characters feel flat to me. I don't feel much emotion towards the MC. He lacks depth. If the author sprinkles some back story on how his previous life impacted his behavior in second life I think he'll be a more well rounded character. I feel like the author just include his past life as an excuse to make the MC op to the max. The romance is also not really hitting. The ML feels like he's just... there. I do like him more than the MC though.

i finished this story with the hopes I could see my “very happy” babies. But they were nowhere or im just blind and forgetful. Anyway, I love this story. This story is the complete opposite of Very Happy where the plot is heavy but still beautiful. This story is so Mary Sue but im not complaining since the MC isn’t the typical braindead mary sues out there. He does everything with reason and I like that about it. This story is a smooth sailing story which is easy to read.... more>> I would recommend this to first time danmei readers but I do warn that there are some themes in the story that may need to have trigger warnings.

Aside from that, I love this story so much. Not heavy on the romance but still love it. 10/10 recommend. <<less

Face slapping part exaggerating so much, its too much its kinda make me sick of it.

When MC win an award in other country Im really done with it, Ik its indeed this kind of novel but cant the author make it a bit realistic ? Like its understandable if he just win an award in his own country but he win an award in other country against alot of western actors and being newbie at that. 👀

Thats aside, I reaalllly like ML. Not like any other this type of ML... more>> who usually so cold & aloof to the point they only goes 'Enn' or 'Mmh' when talking, he actually able to communicate, I really like it when he conveys his feeling toward MC. MC is personality is good and he is so mature. But I think he is too OP ? Well of course as someone who is reincarnated, being OP is a must.

MC's parent is soo sweet, I like them too. I like their ways of thinking, how they view the world. They're open minded, but realistic. Of course as parent they want only the best for their kid, and its great they able to understand MC.

Last extra chapter caught me off guard, ngl. Its soo beautiful, its soo touching. Like its the pov of other peoples toward MC & ML relationship, glad so many people know their actual relationship but choose to keep silent and dont make things difficult for them, they even pray for their happiness and longlasting relationship. Well kinda disappointed they dont end up getting married and come out to public like others showbiz novels. Its okay too tho, maybe they just wanna live in peace and as long as MC & ML know they care, love and respect each other, they dont care how the outsider view them. Its good ML is so understanding, not demand anything from MC and not overly possessive. And theres a part where a fan of MC stopped being a fan after saw MC & ML kissing, this really upsetting. Why would you stop liking your idol just because he is gay ? Not to mention its already 21st century and she is a younger generation. She even jumped ship and resign from ML's company just bc of that. Sigh... 😩

The author is somehow kinda... childish ? Toxic ? Well I know the author loves her country so much, but is it really necesary to bringdown other country like that ? 🤷🏼‍♂️

Initially I'd like to give this novel 3 stars bcs I think its average, the face slapping part is just too much and repetiting its become boring, + dont like when author bringing down other country like that. But that last extra was really good, and I like MC, ML and MC's parent relationship and way of thinking so much so I give it 3.5 stars👍👍

And maybe it would be better if you read it after reading some angst novels. Lol <<less

Gary-Stu BL story with focus on face-slapping first and side of romance (nothing explicit). No unnecessary misunderstandings, typical villains who pit against MC only to be slapped in the face, and not a lot of dog food to be shared. It's a pretty typical face-slapping entertainment BL novel.

I like how MC is able to solve most of his problems by his own skills and without having to rely on ML, but ML's name and reach is so powerful that MC automatically gets respect from most with brains (i.e. Not the... more>> antagonists). So I guess he does sort of rely on ML for some minor things. And MC's past isn't really relevant to the present story except that he retains skills that make him outstanding, for more faceslapping, and to gain fans. There could have been so much more potential in utilizing his past. Shame. I wish we got to see more of MC and ML interacting and spreading dog food everywhere, since most of the focus is only on the face-slapping and solving the problems MC faces. It just felt like they were supposed to get together because they're the best of the best people in their country. One thing I hugely dislike is the author emphasizing nationalism (and not patriotism) and making strange stereotypical comments about characters from other countries under the pretense of how the characters in the story think. Some parts made me uncomfortable to read. But of course, the author wrote for the Chinese audience first, so it's understandable that they want to push some ideas and views to align with their targeted audience. Not to mention, this is a fictional work, so I'll give it a break and not apply IRL logic. It's not a dealbreaker tbh.

It kind of felt boring but calm and satisfying read, overall. But I do think this is a good break from reading other angst-filled BLs. Good way to waste time, and I mean it as a compliment. Great translation too with notes at the end to explain some things that someone unfamiliar with Chinese culture may not know. Would recommend! <<less

MC is very OP. There are many face slapping scenes in the novel and to be honest its quite satisfying if this is something you will enjoy.

The romance part is good. It's a little bit of a slow burn but after they got they together it's super sweet hehe. I really like the ML tho. He's super sweet and attentive unlike his outer appearance.

It was a fun read. The MC was really endearing and likeable. He was very talented and smart. The ML on the other hand was very understanding and dedicated. This novel is one of the very few ones where the parents, the reporters and most of the netizens were not portrayed in a bad light. 5 stars for the romantic development, which was the only realistic thing in this completely fairytale-like Gary Sue novel.

The main CP truly started out as good friends before gradually falling for each other the more they interacted. I'm convinced that the MC likely realized his feelings first before the ML did. The progression of their relationship was very natural and most of all, I love how the ML has more "life" as compared to the typical cold-aloof-CEO gong trope.

So although the rest of the plot was very fantastical, I still... more>> enjoyed reading it a lot. I was even wishing for more moments of the main CP. Sadly, the ending leaves much to be desired and the extras don't scratch the itch either. <<less

It’s lukewarm.

Objectively-speaking it’s not bad at all. MC has a great personality, is practically OP, & his relationship with ML was built up nicely. Everything was consensual. But it wasn’t a novel that kept me on my toes; it was a story that I could pause to read 200+ chapters of Bleach before coming right back where I left off. &Amp; That for me, doesn’t give me much incentive to read further on. To each their own.

Simple and uncomplicated.

Things I liked :

Not too exaggerated, both the ML and MC are good but the golden finger that MC has is all due to his rebirth. The author gives some time gaps for the story to develop like a drama being made and then it's post production.

No sudden plot twist of knowing each other from last life. I kept waiting for this twist that the ML was the Emperor in last life but the author gave no such indication which made the story sweeter.

When talking about the reason why the Prime minister didn't marry in last life, there are no lofty ideas of the Emperor being in love with him or him being in love with the Emperor. There is a semi logical reason which I like over the normal trope.

Things I didn't like

Wish there was a bit more excitement. The ML clears out all the problems before anything can happen.

It's said that it's an open secret that the ML and MC are together but no one dares to publish it. That felt odd specially cause anyone who does publish it would know that the backlash to these would have been immediate so I am sure that would have been someone willing to risk it.

Conclusion :

Fun little novel which is not too boring but did have a bit more potential. Both MC and ML are respectful and nice which was a good change. <<less

Good novel, great translator who makes a lot of effort.

MC is extremely OP, extremely perfect, the most OP/perfect dude on the planet. He is reincarnated from ancient times so he knew a lot of skills (like calligraphy) that were surprises to the modern world. But that's okay, OP MCs are more acceptable to me than OP MLs to be honest.

And yes, this ML is very OP as well, but the MC is the focal point of the story.

The plot isn't slow, but it was very fluffy and light throughout. MC... more>> is too OP to really be caught in any issues or challenges in the story but I did still enjoy reading it. It must be the difference between good and bad writing or good and bad translation that made the story enjoyable despite the lack of challenges for the MC. <<less
