The novel started out okay but way way too similar to svsss, except MC is dashixiong instead of shizun.

Characters have no depth. MC at first is relatable then he’s just dumb and there’s zero growth or change despite 3 years then 10 years.

Plot is barely there to get the story going.

What I remembered most:

• • I originally dropped this at chapter 64 then picked it up again from the beginning; the main couple gets together pretty quickly (though chapters are indeed short) and I need more of a slow burn action to keep my interest

• • the focus was split pretty evenly between the relationship between MC and ML, and MC and his brother

• • so sorry to Chu Sheng lovers out there, he's a nice and tragic guy but I could not give a **** and would have traded him for 20 more chapters focusing on Chu Yu and Xie Xi's relationship

• • people have called this a s*um Villain knock-off but I don't totally agree. I liked this story a lot but s*um Villain developed characters more deeply and readers can tell that Luo Binghe is living with a lot of self hatred and insecurity and struggling to be his authentic self while still being strong enough for his love; meanwhile, Xie Xi's character development doesn't get much deeper than "he's powerful but very sticky and possessive towards his love. He's insecure but shows it in 1 way: to pout and coerce MC into papapa"

• • great ideas that s*um Villain fleshed out were dropped quickly here: the big bad demon villain was gone within 2 chapters, Chu Yu never fully had to understand the emotional impact his disappearances had on his loved ones because the impact wasn't much more than being extra sticky, and issues with cultivation or injuries were either treated relatively lightly (telling rather than showing us that the issue was supposedly bad) and were solved in a handful of chapters

At first I thought it was similar with SVSSS but after reading it and comparing it, THIS NOVEL IS MUCH BETTER.

The ML and MC's character and love is much more developed and believable. The story is interesting, I even thought that the story is already completed around chapter 20++ because this part is where they were already together, but the story is much more deeper and interesting. It also answered all plot holes.

Very similar to SVSS, but I actually think this one is better because the romance is more solid.

The story is nothing new, but is very enjoyable for a light reading. There are a lot of cute moments, its very fluffy compared to other cultivation novels. The main couple is adorable, and there are other three side couples who are very interesting too. Gotta say that the gong is a red flag sometimes for being too possessive, but that`s standard danmei for you lol.

All in all, it`s worth a read.

A simple but fun story about a senior disciple. Very humorous in tone. It reminds me of s*um Villain, but shorter and much more lighthearted. The ending is good though I would have liked more side stories, especially about the brother.

This is just a cute and simple novel about a shidi and his shixiong. The main character is quite nice; I like him. Don't expect deep philosophical thoughts, or anything like that. This is more like fluff. It's the good fluff, so give it a try if you're looking for a completely translated work that's simple and lighthearted.

I'll give this a 3.8. There are a few times that I feel certain conflicts and information are just left unaddressed leaving the reader to wonder what on Earth happened. It is a good story though. The timeline does jump around a bit but it is still very much worth a read.

tbh I definitely see the svsss influence, but both novels have their charms this was a decent read in its own right. I needed a lighter read like this after reading something like Thousand Autumns :P

The story is good and it have its own charm, though it have a little similar outline of SVSSS like transmigration and raising the protagonists, both stories have their own charm. So there is no need to think of them as similar stories.

Here ML is clingy but in a good way and he'll never hurt MC. Though initially MC finds it hard to accept that ML loves him, he'll adapt to it and recognize his own feelings but it'll be slow and steady. They'll be in relationship for the more... more>> than half of novel so it's fluffy and adorable.

In SVSSS, MC won't trust ML for more than half of story. Here it's different, they trust each other and love each other, but the events always separates them. But they'll unite every time. And it has a HE. And the system is here just for name sake to help MC, it's not a strict system rather the system is the captain of the ship😂.

This novel is a bit like the knock-off version of s*um Villain's Self-Saving System. There is a plot, but it's pretty flimsy. (Who reads these novels for the plot, though, am I right?) Not bad, pretty good and I like it, 3.5-4 for me. It's funny enough and cute but I feel like there are a few points the author could have made use of to push the novel into the memorable/great category. One of which is the comments box. The MC goes for long instances without checking the box when it's common sense to check it frequently. Also, I feel that if you're gonna write smut, then you might as well write it all the way, or skip it, else it feels like a cop out.

I didn't finish this novel. It's good and the translations are well written. The problem that I have is that the romance is too fast for me like 'you seems different, I love you!'. Just because someone's changed, you will fall in love? Where's the logic in that? Because of that, I feel like their love for each other is not genuine. It's too sudden.

Hmm.. I get the 'The s*um villain's self-saving system' vibes in this novel really. Like how the both male leads have unstable personalities. Both main characters have also almost have the same personalities that I'm wondering if this is somehow their next lives. Anyhow, this was a good novel, a pretty funny one actually, and I enjoyed it.

Not recommend it if you come for serious plots in detail with well-done and convincing characters' development. I was disappointed by how the characters are so bland. It is okay for a fast-pacing light read in ur leisure time.

This is actually my favourite novel, in that it has all of my favourite tropes. And I've re-read it many times. A possessive love interest, who gets jealous and was the first to fall in love? Yep! Yep! Yep! Sign me up!

In terms of literary prowess, there are better novels out there, but to be honest, what this story and how it was written offered me was exactly what I was after when I first found it. I must be on my fourth or fifth re-read of it now.

Chu Yu, our (shou) MC is a typical shou transmigration protagonist. The utter shock at being loved by the ML (gong), Xie Xi, who is a pretty typical representation of a lowkey yandere love interest (he is very sticky to Chu Yu, once he falls).

If you're looking for the next booker prize, you won't find it here. If you're looking for happy, healthy relationships, eh, you'll find an eventual happy one here. The ending isn't diabolical to Chu Yu's health in any way, but I would not call their love the epitome of realistic healthy love.
