The premise for the story is great. That was what attracted me into it.

Unfortunately.. The storyline is a little draggy and a little chill. I'm quite disappointed that I couldn't complete reading this : (

A modern cultivation world, with 2 interesting protags and a lot of fluff between the two. I liked the author's fast-paced writing style. The author managed to build some pretty complex and multi-layered side characters for such a short novel. Most characters in this novel give the impression of being smart, mature and are not simply painted black or white. MC's father did not just accept that his son had a total personality change and checked him out. ML also investigated and smartly tested MC. The original young master He... more>> was a weakling and a wastrel but he was still surprisingly protected by his family. Different from the way the Wen family treated ML, who was discarded the moment he became weak. Side characters like He Feng, HeFeng's mum, Qin Zhao, Gars were also interesting. They did not always act according to their respective affiliations.

As for the r*pe tag, yes, there was r*pe but it was not treated superficially by the author

The r*pe caused trauma not only to the victim but also to the MC who witnessed it. The mother of the victim personally took revenge, at the cost of her life, endangering the whole world in the process. The victim took 50yrs to heal and chose to forgive in the end. For readers who say the r*pe was just a plot point or glossed over, I cannot agree. For readers who think forgiving is unacceptable, then it's your biased opinion. Do not impose your morals onto others.

Despite being a short novel, this is a fairly decent read. MC and ML are so adorable together, and I wish this was a bit longer. It was kind if interesting to see supernatural elements involved in this, although the novel didn't go in depth with it. Alas, owing to the length of the novel, there isn't much world building and the plot isn't super extensive. However, there's a fair amount of mystery -- although it gets resolved pretty quick (I mean how long is the mystery gonna be, this... more>> is only a 60 chapter novel). <<less

This is a short-ish fluffy read, what I loved most was the lack of an evil step-mother, step-brother or cousin, instead it had a good step-mother and relatives. And although there are some inconsistencies, as other readers said, they don't take anything from the story and the translator does a great job as well.

Good for a short story, I like He Zhou he's pretty cool. I may need to re read because Wen Renyi was super looking forward to seeing HZ face but I can't recall reading the result of when he finally did or even if his sight recovered fully. Some small things was definitely skipped over but I feel it would have been worthwhile to read them. Felt quite small and predicatable but still an enjoyable read. Thanks for sharing the work.

This novel was generally okay. The plot moved fast, at times too fast. This is especially the case when it comes to the ending which felt rushed and therefore a bit anticlimactic.

Aside from that, I often felt like I'm missing something or some things doesn't make much sense/the logic is so flimsy it hurts my head.

Like how did a thirty-something -almost forty year old demonic sect leader/successful businessman meet and fall in love with an eighteen-year old university freshman? The eighteen-year-old was also massively naive and believed every threat without needing any evidence. He also forgives his r*pist/ab*ser way too easily.

I didn't understand how quickly and easily the ML fell for the MC either. He didn't even have the excuse of falling in love at first sight because of the MC's good looks.

Another thing that bothered me or rather disappointed me a bit was how anticlimactic the ML regained his eyesight. I had hoped for some special moment where he lays eyes on his husband for the first time and basically falling in love once more. Nothing like that happened.

Instead he regained his eyesight gradually and I am not even sure when exactly his eyes were completely healed. They just were at some point.

The way how antagonists are done away also took all the tension out of my sails. Dudes keep doing the same mistakes and the same crimes actually. How many times did some random kids/people get taken hostage and needed to be exchanged/saved? Blackmailing, hostage-taking and threatening is like a plague running rampant throughout this novel. It gets old real fast.

Well, at least this novel was better that the last one I read.

One of the few I can't rate mostly because it wouldn't be fair. I saw this on my recs and I was sure I'd read it before but couldn't remember how it ended. Until I tried reading it again and realized I'd dropped it already several times before 😅. Dropping this again and leaving a note to self so I don't try to reread it again. Dropped it for a reason. It's not bad. It's just not for me. Dragged a bit.

It wasn't the best but it's still okay. It's a simple story, slight repeating in the book. I'm mean there is a limit on story type I guess. However just read it to pass time and some injection of sugar. Best sugar in the book actually I feel come from the translator.

Kudos to the translator for the EXTRA HARD WORK 😈😈

An interesting novel to pass time.

First, thank you translator for your work! The translation is really good, and I enjoyed the novel till the end. But some things and details about how the autor wrote the story could be more developed, and for that I felt that it wasn't that grand of an ending. But the characters are nice, the powers and the modern era mix well and overwall I love the way they slowly starts loving each other, that was the most pleasurable part for me.

If you are looking... more>> for a modern cultivation novel to pass some time, you should definetely give this novel a chance! It's short and HE. <<less

mannn I'm halfway through and I really love this novel,

curently im at this international competition and cant help but imagine those anime scene where all power and fire sparked from the characters 🤣 I loveeeeee this 😍✨✨✨✨

somehow I keep on imagine HZ power like Hellsing (anime), tbh it's a scary comparison 😅

and I keep getting the same feeling as I did while watching/ reading gdc before, hehee I wish there are more 🥰

Great start but it got boring in the middle. The problem with the novel was that half way through the story it suddenly changes track from Rom-Com to supernatural mystery. I haven't seen story that combines cultivators with other supernatural beings like

I usually don’t rate novels but I have to for this.

I didn’t care what the reviews said, the moment I saw pretending to be weak and calling him daddy, I just had to read it. 😂 I really enjoyed the story, the translation was also very well done.

The relationship between He Zhou and Wenren Yi was also very wholesome and constantly pulled at my heartstrings. I was swooning throughout lol. The translator also added their own nsfw fanfiction and it was so good hehehe 🙈

I only wished it was a bit longer. 🥲

This novel is relatively short with chapters but each chapter have long word counts. But for me, the story/plot was well-executed and very fitting to my tastes. The story progression was not that fast-paced but also not slow-paced to the point it was being dragged down.

I love MC and ML the most. They are just too OP for this world and guess what? 2 OP main protagonist character wedded together was just so OP just sometimes I feel reluctant to even read the next chapters. However, it was a good... more>> choice to finish this novel as I found out their dog-food PDAs and face-slapping revenges are just too satisfying and sweet.

Y'all read ML waiting for MC's consent everytime when doing 'dual cultivation'? It was so cute and moving that ML has such very good s*xual restraint. LMAO

Not only the main couple, there were also side characters that I enjoyed so much as well as their potential ships...which were destroyed by the plot tbh TT

    • The 'Gars and Auster (?) ' ship sank when Gars died because of the villain so bye-bye my lovely potential ship. 3_3.
    • Then there was the 'He Feng and Qin Zhao' ship that I almost never wanna ship them at all because QZ r*ped HF in the past just because QZ took 'fancy' in HF and thought that r*pe was the most feasible solution to court HF at all... But thankfully they worked out in the end and HF gaining advantage over their relationship was so satisfying. I hope QZ would spend his life loving and caring for MC while repenting for his actions from the past.
    • Finally, the 'Ye Xiao and Ding Zhi' ship. I though that they have a potential to be a couple after the plot but damn... DZ did not even appear on the chapters later on even in extras while YX was already shipped with that disciple of him called Fang Zhi (?) LMAOOOOO... The YX and DZ ship sank before it could go to sail.

It's not as bad as the review says for me atleast... I personally quite like the story... But yeah there's a lot loopholes that author failed to explain... But the setting for wuxia in modern society is really a turn on... It's my first time reading such setting and I really enjoyed it... Hope for more such settings.... So if you're in wuxia novels which is also a BL then do give it a chance... Try it

It's pretty good and cute. No annoying misunderstandings, the MC and ML are both likeable and sweet. The only thing disappointing was the ending because it felt so rushed. The antagonist's screen time was at most a chapter worth. Like, I'm sorry, what? I expected a lot more from him. But unfortunately, the MC and his side were OP that everything ended swiftly.

It didn't bring me satisfaction.

The novel sets up a mystery in a very elaborate and round-about way, but around chapters 35-40 things start to rush towards the end and it felt a bit too simplistic upon completion.

This was my first modern cultivation novel and I'm pretty happy with it. At first, the protagonist is OP and the love interest is blind and mysterious, but they end up being both very OP. They're both incredibly handsome and rich, as most of their family members. I was pleasantly surprised to see the settings change frequently, but... more>> the author doesn't put much effort in the description.

Actually, the overall writing style is just good, not excellent. The overall tone is mellow, I think because of the detached, lofty attitude of the protagonist and love interest, but there are pretty entertaining moments.

I absolutely adored the amount of casual PDA and the emphasis on consent. Pity that there are no steamy scenes by the author, the translator kindly supplied instead. <<less

The things I love the most about this novel is the He family! (Of course our ML is also very sweet well he's a wolf in sheep's clothes)

He Zhou (original) is a waste for family because he body couldn't cultivate and his rebellion personality but father He never stop caring about He Zhou and try to give the best for him even if he bring shame to the family and mother He although she's a step mother she didn't hate He Zhou eventho he is very cold... more>> to her.. Tbh I'm touched by this because I'm so used to a evil step mother and parents who ignored their child just because he is a waste and always cause trouble~

Both of the MC and ML are OP..maybe too OP than the others '-_-

Although this is a cultivation novel but it isn't too complicated because the author didn't delve too much into the cultivations and just explain the basics idea of it so for someone like me who usually got confused with cultivations plot this is very easy to read.. I think the author doesn't want to create too complicated plot with dark grudge and revenge..

I totally recommend this for someone who want to read some light cultivation plot with no extreme angst.. but will I repeat this.. I don't really think so.. because there's not enough challenges like each time the enemies come and challenges MC and ML they solved it very easily!! Seriously even when fighting the last enemy it only took MC a chapter to defeat it (well two since the translator separate chap 60 into 2 part) see how easy it's for them to solve the problem..

Another thing is I don't know if this is author mistakes or translator mistake.. but sometimes the name change for a while and back to the right name and sometimes the cultivation rank was wrong.. in the early chapter they said MC cultivation is already in sky rank but later while both MC and ML trying to save people's trapped in an array MC said he's earth rank... I was a bit confused at first but I brush it off as a mistakes..

Well I ought to give this novel a 3.5 star but the page doesnt have the function to do so. So I did a 3 or maybe 4 star review I dont really know hahaha.

Anyways, at the first half of the story, the plot is good. The 'quick cultivation' people always complain about is actually justified and part of the plot. I just pity the soul trapped in ML's body since he never got the chance to have his background and existence be recognized fully in the story.

Nevertheless, the quick... more>> cultivation is justified in my opinion. Since I had read a LOT of cultivation novels I got the gist on how cultivation goes. Usually in order to advance a realm it takes a minimum of 50 to 100 chapters especially in the beginning which becomes longer as the MC progress. This leads to a good hundreds and thousands of chapters in a normal cultivation novel.

Here on the other hand, the plot is quick paced, the latter part of the plot is a bit rushed. Although the quick cultivation is justified since the novel is meant for romance not fantasy, it still gives me a feeling of rushed ending hence why I minus the 5 stars rating with.5 making it 4.5.

Then the author tends to repeat the MC's background way back on his previous world too much. Like most of the chapters have repeated the MC's situation. I mean yes, its good for persons who get to forget the MC's circumstances in his last world but atleast the author should change how he/she (I dunno the gender of the author) portray or tell the same thing in the novel. Not to mention that there are others as well that are repeated which somehow made me complain and skip it. This minus the 4.5 stars into 4 stars.

Lastly, the plot is good, however I think that the plot is wasted since the battle fights and the ending is rushed like I mentioned before. Somehow the ending became sluggish and doesnt give readers the feeling of shock and excitement. The quick cultivation is also wasted on both sides and the disparity between both parties are unjustifiable. The opponent is clearly living for like so many years in an array gathering a lot of comrades hut somehow the MC who just got to the world for like 1 year defeated an opponent who may have completed his soul but clearly still powerful in terms of strength and resources. I thought that the final battle would give me some shiver but I just skipped it until it finished. The way how the MC also revealed his powers is kinda blah, a bit normal well I think the last quarter of the novel is a bit dissatisfying which made me give this novel a final rating of 3.5 stars.

But for those who wanted to try it, feel free. I think this should be more fluff rather than drama and action since some things are not explained well but I think the novel is good to read. <<less

i'd be honest the beginning was good but afterwards I got little bit bored.. I had to skip some scenes and the ending was just fine.. Nevertheless this is still a good read to pass the time~
