Everyday, the Demon Lord is Escaping His Marriage

Everyone in the world knows that Demon Lord Hua Che was cruel and vicious. A single disagreement could cause him to slaughter someone’s entire family.

What raised everyone’s hackles, even more, was how he had kidnapped the Immortal Lord Chu Binghuan, before shamelessly forcing him to become his Daoist companion!

Everyone cursed him, calling him shameless and disgusting, but he completely disregarded them. Hua Che only gently and cautiously tried currying favour with his crush, his white moonlight.

However, even until death, the only things he managed to obtain from Chu Binghuan were the words “shameless”, and “we’re irreconcilable enemies”—these kinds of hurtful phrases.

Luckily, after being reborn, Hua Che finally understood: that stolen melons were not sweet. During such an excellent era, wasn’t strolling with a cat or teasing a dog also fun?

First, he had to go to Chu Binghuan’s family to break their arranged marriage.

However, the lofty Chu Binghuan, who was originally devoted to cultivating and always disdained his wooing, suddenly had a huge personality change. No matter where Hua Che went, he would follow, and it was impossible to lose him!

Hua Che borrowed a certain person’s words and said, “Shameless!”

Chu Binghuan: “You and I have long had an engagement, and we’ve even slept in the same bed. This is a matter of course.”

Hua Che continued borrowing someone’s words: “We are irreconcilable enemies who cannot live under the same sky!”

Chu Binghuan: “Then the two of us should travel beyond the sky, becoming the perfect immortal couple.”

Hua Che: “……”

Good short read. Both lead's lives were too tragic in the past, and they were both reborn.

Spoiler

Fortunately, the truth and misunderstandings were resolved.

[collapse]

The interactions of their master and the disciples are cute and funny. My favorite is definitely 6th disciple brother. Everytime he's in the scene he's always shouting his favorite line 🤣

Mtled the whole thing so my comprehension may be lacking

This was quite a simple read, simple as in the plot itself was simple to understand and the story's objectives were clear cut, a more enjoyable read compared to more complex cultivation novels (or one's that are deliberately convoluted to appear more sophisticated:")) enjoyed the banter among the characters too, also happy that our MC had one supportive friend who really believed in him all throughout (without any backstabbing:")))

Overall, the story does leave much to be desired, especially on the... more>> ML's part as what I got from his character development felt more anticlimactic that what I was expecting.

Kudos to the smart MC for his hard carry lolol <<less

My main feeling after getting to this point is - disappointment.

The beginning was hopeful, the premise is good, but the execution is just a let down. The MC is an interesting character, has an actual personality, tries things out (even if they don't succeed), so following along his journey should be wonderful but he is surrounded by flat and uninteresting figures. And that includes the ML.

I'll ignore the inconsistent timeline, it's common in these stories, I'm even used to the righteous side being different from the 'bad' cultivators only by... more>> what reasons they use to kill people. But the ML is just s*upid.

Spoiler

Things started to go wrong with one misunderstanding after another, and the timberline is unclear but the MC spent between 100 to 300 years dead, and during all this time the ML could find absolutely nothing about the truth? He just for the sake of appearances tried to discover details but quickly gave up. How did the 100 years, at least, of thinking the MC is dead not made him cherish him when he appeared but now that there is a rebirth suddenly it's all different?? You can't open your mouth once to actually explain anything? And you're 300 ears old?

They are both supposedly the best of the best but they couldn't find a solution to any scheme. Be it the MC with the curse placed on him, or the ml, the great doctor, with what his mother did to him. If swinging a sword doesn't solve an issue then they are helpless to do anything.

[collapse]

Having an ML who just goes with the flow of everything he's told or is done to him, and suddenly becoming helpless to fight against it all when it's convenient to the plot is annoying. It's said that he researched some things but it's all pointless because not a single thing is actually helpful, only exposition for the reader. I tried holding on until we get to the story of MC's mother because it didn't make any sense what happened to her, and I found further disappointment. In any case, this story treats women as many historical Chinese novel do, their only wotlrth is in their purity and any sons they give birth to. The ml's mother is the only female cultivator actually mentioned up to this point, otherwise they don't appear to exist. And she's not the most sympathetic character to say the least.

I feel bad for every single woman in this world. Even the mom of ML. And to add to the inconsistencies, it feels like a beginner cultivator is not much different from an expert considering the main characters don't bother hiding their expertise and no one notices anything.

But the most egregious fact is that in the novel your worth is in your ancesty, not your own actions. If your ancestry is questionable then no matter how great you are it will never erase that sin. In fact the child should pay for the sins of their parents.

2 quotes from the novel that pretty much illustrate my issues :' People of a different race could never be trusted' and 'A mosquito flew by your side, it didn't bite you, but you would still want to kill it'

The first is in reference to a child of a devil cultivator who tries to do good, and the second is a righteous cultivator referring to regular mortals. <<less

Started out really strong. I loved the plot of chasing a lover openly!!!

Hua che reminds me a lot of wei wuxian even chu binghua is similiar to lang wanji, thats why I rlly love them as a couple from the start.

Both being OP is also very nice. And the whole yearning aspect of both over two lifetimes is just heartbreaking.

... more>> However, the plotline and the writing style after the first 20 chapters or so began to regress. Sometimes I wouldn’t understand that they switched from the past to the present already.

The plot became too rushed and left no time for some emotions to grow. Moreover some plotlines felt a bit forced.

Spoiler

For example Chu binghua becoming a demonic cultivator and lu yaos ending was a bit disappointing.

[collapse]

So all in all I still love the idea of this story but the execution was lacking. Bit the couple dynamic saved it all a bit, bit just because I am a sucker for these types of couples. <<less

funny but weak in terms of plot. Honestly, the more I think about it, the more unsatisfied I feel by some of the story decisions. The whole point of the first life was all the sects hypocrisy and blind prejudice but the MC side-stepped it because of an unexpected reveal about his lineage in his new life. Like. That didn't fix anything? I'm glad for the MC but also, that just weakens the overall plot and setting of the story. It also doesn't make much sense for MC and ML... more>> to not talk for the 3 years they were together and chalk it all up to a 'misunderstanding', and ML to feels super bad. Like. Use your words? At all? Again, the author tries to give a reason but it's so weak and kinda pathetic and illogical if ML really did love MC that much. most of it pretty fun and light hearted.

things go a little too well this second time. Cause and effect were too different and MC met genuinely good people second time around so it makes sense, but also it's hard to reconcile how differently everything went and so easily.

Okay MC attracted aggro in his first life. But he's still the same good and caring person he was? It's not like he behaved that differently so why suddenly he has friends this time and didn't in the decades last time? Where were all these 'good' sect leaders last time? The supporting cast is very good, a genuine silly Sect all working together. Going from the dogblood and angst and curelty of last life, this new life feels like a lovely dream but honestly MC deserves it after so much hatred and revenge. The best thing is that it's short so things move fast and we don't spend too much time rehashing the drama from the previous life. <<less

4 stars since it won't let me properly rate it.

This is one of those stories that has you on the edge of your seat with its mystery and have you smiling silly with its happy moments. And that's not just with the main characters but with the surrounding characters too. There's so much life with each character that it's so easy to picture everything in your head on how the scenes are acted out.

And alot of the characterization is with the actions that the characters do and say. No long... more>> paragraphs of what people aren't, just the actions that they take.

The thing that keeps it from being a full 5 stars is the plot itself. The author has a tendency to jump back and forth between the present and flashbacks. While that in itself isn't an issue, the transition between the past and present is separated by a paragraph break where it just jumps into a flash back and jumps back with almost no forewarning. It's very easy to miss and becomes a little disorienting when reading. And this is consistent throughout the story.

Another thing is the ending. The ending is great!! I liked how it ended. But the way all the loose ends were tied seemed a bit rushed to me. I feel like the author got a little impatient and rushed through the loose ends because they were a little too excited to write out the climax of the story. Like you see the finish line and you rush to cross it only to trip a little over your own feet.

I feel like if the author took some time to flesh out the loose ends more, it would have been even more wonderful. But I can't complain since this is genuinely a good story. <<less

Not sure where to begin, but I did enjoy the novel. After around ~40 chapters, it was clear that the author had decided they wanted to start wrapping up the novel. The only problem was that instead of slowly solving the plotholes, they decided to just tackle everything quickly with the remaining chapters.

I really wish they just wrote like 5 or more chapters to stretch out and make the story flow more, rather than make it seem like 'ah this part fits here conveniently, ah here's another plot twist and... more>> a jawbreaker for you, ah and now this is happening, nope now that's resolved.' The ending just felt a bit rushed.

Spoiler

Ah, main lead gets into the demon way! Oh no but with the power of love, he's back. Then it turns out one of the members is an ancient spiritual beast, their master tamed the disciple as a pet?? The main 'hyped up' villain gets killed in 1 slash because oh well, main character got buffed up at a convenient time because we're nearing the end of the novel. My jaw was quite literally dropping with the direction of the story.

[collapse]

I mean storywise though, pretty excellent and deserving of its rave. If you've read the full novel, you'll understand all the actions and why they do what they do. (Again, everything's just tossed towards you at the end, which frustrates me.) <<less

Short but satisfying. How the author managed to squeeze in so many twists and plot points in so few chapters is amazing. The world building and different characters/sects was not complex but somehow detailed enough with sufficient build up that I got invested. It was even wrapped up beautifully.

Was hoping for more crematorium wife chasing, which there was a bit but not a lot. The romantic aspect was peacefully resolved at a natural point that made sense. The initial heart twinges were good, had some teary parts, a few laughs,... more>> and the misunderstandings were well built and resolved. It’s a bit reminiscent of mdzs but with a comedic undertone at points that I greatly enjoyed.

There were some time skips towards the end that made it a bit abrupt, but the fluff and revelations were still cute. Some things were convenient plot points but executed well enough that it didn’t matter much.

Would reread! <<less

I think this story is a pretty good cultivation danmei, especially with the relatively short amount of chapters.

Both MC and ML have likable characters and despite being OP, each have their own flaws, which they do their best to fix with their second chance at life.

There were also minimum dog blood (in term of MC and ML's relationship) in this new life as ML was very straightforward and decisive in chasing after MC and while MC had decided to part ways with ML, he acknowledged that he still loved ML... more>> and did not go to the extremes to avoid ML's advances, ergo, after resolving the misunderstanding between them, they quickly got together.

Not to say there aren't any conflicts or angst, there's plenty of that, especially once everything about their past lives is revealed but those grievance were resolved properly with either revenge, forgiveness or acceptance of let bygones be bygones.

Also, the way the author tied up the loose ends between MC and ML was quite unexpected despite the foreshadowing...
Spoiler

I thought they would resolve it by having a proper talk but well, I suppose magical memory travel isn't too farfetched for a cultivation novel, but as someone who advocates proper communication in a relationship, I was a wee bit disappointed.

[collapse]

Although there is a huge plot hole of how no one questioned ML and MC's OP-ness despite the possibility of possession being a very likely thing in a cultivation world setting but it can basically be ignored if you turned off your brain for a bit everytime other charas go: "Unbelievable! They're so talented despite their age!" Without any suspicion whatsoever...

Other than that, the important side characters also have their own personality and stories, although that fell a little on the wayside towards the end, I'm guessing the author was rushing the end in fear of adding unnecessary fillers/author's block. Like, some character/drama/new plot points were introduced at the end but it wasn't properly fleshed out so it fell a little flat. So that's a bit of a bummer but in the early and middle part these aspects were covered pretty well, I think.

Overall, it's a nice story for you to binge if you want stg fluffy but with interesting plot, minimal misunderstanding (at least in present life, the last life was filled with misunderstandings) and OP main characters^^ <<less

Just the 2 stars for some side characters.

I dropped this novel because while I could have continued reading it, a particular line just stopped me dead in place and made me close this novel.

ML's uncle suffer injuries and could not manage the sect, the position of handling the sect fell to ML's mother but she couldn't do it because wait for it, uhm, " she is just a women ". That's it?

The excuse that ML's mother couldn't step up be she is "just a women" is rushed writing and casual... more>> misogyny, which I am so so tired of seeing in these novels

That is the problem with this book, if you want to write a story filled with tragedy, redemption and love, you have to flesh out the character's personality. This feel as if author was trying to get from one point to another point as fast as possible without giving any proper explanations about anything.

As if author had a checklist of plot points that needed to be finished off and they were rushing each and every one of them. It could have been good novel if author put more time to flesh out the whole thing. It was promising.

New sect bros and new master of MC was pretty good though so 2 star for them. And end casual misogyny in novels <<less

It was good before with the translation from saykhulations. And very much mediocre when you read it with MTL. And since I finished it with MTL, the story is very mediocre and there's a lot of plot hole, rly like a lot.

So my own conclusion is go read something else, there's a lot of novel that read good with Mtl, so save your time.

I like and enjoyed this series, it's a short read filled with fluff and angst, just a balanced amount to keep me entertained.

The MC's character is also very entertaining, I felt what is lacking was that perhaps there can be more character and plot development for the side characters.

But overall, I don't think it's very cliche, perhaps I didn't read too much novels. But I think it's a good casual read.

It started fine, and gradually turned into a big mess. You could see where the plot was going from a mile away from how unoriginal it was; and yet the weird writing style still gives you whiplash from how abruptly and disjointedly things happen. The ending is beyond rushed, with a time skip just to reach their "marriageable age" and all.

I think the only character who made an impression on me was Shang Wanglian (the right guardian) , mad respect to him for leaving the demonic sect to work in... more>> a noodle shop and live peacefully. As for the rest? Just another mediocre, cookie-cutter story. <<less

Started reading this novel coz of how cute I thought the premise was... but hoooo boy, was I wrong. It was an unexpected wild ride, and I enjoyed it THOROUGHLY.

The story is actually well-told, considering how short it is, it actually felt complete and just a great read all throughout.

Very Mo Dao Zu Shi esque, but still unique in its own right and the characters were well-told. Some angst really hurt, but knowing that it was from the past life before the rebirth made it a much better experience imo.

I... more>> do love the dual perspective when you finally start to understand both the MC and the ML's side on things and their thoughts and what really happened from the beginning.

The side-characters were THE BEST, especially their master in the Ling Shao Temple and the disciples there. It was delightful reading about their experiences together and it made it such an enjoyable journey overall, albeit short - but sweet. <3 <<less

I liked every characters.. And the plot is very engaging, , although I disliked the ML at first.. because how dare he treated our MC like that.. But then the whole story was revealed.. I don't like how the ML's mother always looked down on MC.. I think in this whole story, I have only one character I really hate.. That's the ML's mother.. Lu mingfeng and his son are not even that hateful for me.. What they did is hateful but their characters, the feeling they give off is... more>> not as hateful as ML's mother to me.. The plot twists, the misunderstandings, the angsts are all nicely done.. It's a HE btw..

the side characters are there to bring warmth to MC.. Like Sasa, his master, his apprentice brothers, although some did not much screen time.. My absolute favorite character is their master.. He's funny, kind, warm and level-headed.. Would I recommend this? ABSOLUTELY.. It's short and the plot is very good.. <<less

I read the mtl of this story and really enjoyed it. I was really excited to see that this story was fully translated, but I was a little disappointed in the translation. Don't get me wrong, I appreciate the time and effort the translator put into translating this story, but I would have liked it better if the translator would put their notes and definitions at the end of the chapter instead of right in the middle of the story. This story is wonderful to read. All the characters are quite well developed even though its very short. I binge read in 1 day. The story kinda abit like mdzs, but this one not written so heavy, as I guessed it’s a very short story. MC is abit of a misfit here. But he did gone through alot from heaven to hell. So... It's a really nice short read. If you're looking for something sweet, fluff, and short. It's quite nice. The world building isn't very complete like the author kinda threw away the world's logic whenever needed. Time lapses are kinda weird too. But other than that, it's quite a good read.
