You just need to tough through 100+ chapters or so then the translation becomes great and let me tell you the novel world building is great!

The little details you thought is just fillers will be explained later on that it blew my mind how the author has already prepared everything.

Most side characters are not one dimensional and makes you want to laugh at their antics. All in all it's a fun novel, give it a try!

It's also funny seeing Hwangho developed to a mother hen character, but my heart breaks for him in the original universe

i've only been reading with mtl but so far everything is good. The main character, Jo Euishin is very level-headed and calculative, albeit having little flaws here and there. That's normal, and honestly those little things are what made him an interesting character. The characters are also overall very distinctive from each other (some stories have very similar characters bcs the author doesnt know how to write multiple roles).

The story is fleshed out really well, the background and setting of the novel is okay, not that hard to understand, and... more>> there is also character developments of multiple characters. The narration of the story is smooth, and the development of the story of each arc gives room for the story to expand more.

If you like self-sacrificial characters (eg tcf cale, orv dokja), and also comedic side characters who banter a lot, good fight scenes and unexpected expected plot twists, give this a try. <<less

I really enjoy reading this novel, something I don't feel much lately since I feel today's novels rarely give refreshing storylines or plots.

Just like the other reviews have said, starting with the MC finishing the national mang-game and being transported to an alternate world where the game took place as a reward, he then try to save the people in the game, especially his 'playable characters'. The story is very interesting, there are many surprises and very importantly for me, the characters are well thought of and fleshed out. Readers... more>> can know their aspirations, worries, fears and perspectives and can see how they grow bit by bit, so watching their interactions is enjoyable (and that includes the villains and people with obscure affiliations). I applaud the author for this aspect (although sometimes I want to smack Cho Eui-Shin when he's being a stonehead).

The translation itself at the beginning is not good, one review said it's better to just use google translate and unfortunately he's right. But later the translation got better and I hope the translators keep the good quality so the novel can be enjoyed properly.

Now I've read to the latest chapter and am sadly waiting for the author to update the novel... <<less

Everything was great. The pace of the story is quite slow.

The best thing for me is the emotion that the story conveys.

Our main character is gorgeous, amazing, unique.

... more>> He's OP but not alone. He always tries to find people who can help to solve the problem.

There is no obvious power system, however his blessings seem to be the most powerful in that world.

The special thing about our main character is that he is a 'mother ' (in my comparison)

If Kim Doja gives me the feeling of a trusted companion or 'hyung', 'oppa', or 'ajussi' then Jo Euishin/ Jo Uisin or whatever the MTL refer to this protagonist, he gives me a feeling of a mother.

A mother who always cares, wants to take care of her little babies. Be proud of the achievements of your children, suffer when they suffer and do not mind the sacrifices.

The relationships of friends, family, and colleagues in this story are prominently written. Their interactions are worth reading. People can feel long and bored. However, it's sad that each character has a sad story in it.

However, this is also a funny story, not dark, there are lovebirds that can't be speak, lol. <<less

Pretty good but I decided to drop it. The story, characters, and the flow is pretty good is just that the MC is too OP, there's barely any tension or build up cause you know MC is gonna deus ex machina his way around it. I know 50ish chapters is too early to decide but from the way the story is flowing I can already tell what kind of story it is and it's not for me.

Spoiler

MC has this power called "Player's Vestige" wherein he can pull out a character card and borrow their power (and appearance if he so wishes). It's just such a BS power since it solves every problem in the story, build ups and tension is practically 0.

PV also scales differently than his actual skills so he doesn't even have to train, he just pull out these OP character cards and be done with problems. To give credit, MC still trains his innate talent but knowing he has PV just cancels it out for me.

[collapse]

Also the translations is quite bad, it's literally just MTL and not even edited. Waffle did an amazing job but so far they've only done up til 40. <<less

I've been reading this novel since it's been recommended to me, and I was shocked to see the reviews here that I had to make an account and give my own opinion. I'm new to reading light novels, but this novel really hooked me in. The MC is brilliant, the plot twists make actual sense, and the relationships between the characters are well-drawn. It's a lengthy novel so if you're unconvinced that the story is worth a read, check out c278 to change your mind.

I had high hopes for this novel, but unfortunately it did not live up to my expectations. The world building is lackluster and the characterizations are shallow. The author seems to rely heavily on the main character's thoughts and feelings, leaving the other characters underdeveloped. Additionally, the constant inclusion of unnecessary and irrelevant details makes for a tedious reading experience. I tried to push through and continue reading, but ultimately had to give up after only 30 chapters.

Starting point: a nationnal korean game became a well-known failure, booed by the whole gamer community. MC is a hardcore fan of the game, played it again and again, played all the characters and tried every playroute, but it always ends tragically. MC did his best in life, but after finally getting a job, learns he has a terminal disease and holes himself up to play the game until his death. After ten years of playing the game, the final chapter is uploaded: everybody is dead. MC is very frustrated,... more>> dies then wakes up in the game, as a side-chara, one destined to die that day due to a monster. He will do his best to save all the characters of the game and change the ending, with his suspiscious cheat skills and narrow knowledge of the future tragedies.

The story is very cool: it totally owns up to it's tags, it's funny, there are fights and school life like studying and making friends, the science-fi elements don't really matter but the fantasy elements are interesting and complex, it makes for good world building. The side-characters have a personality.

MC is OP, which is necessary because he has to deal with many schemes right off the bat, but has room for growth and the info he has can only help him at the beginning. His personality is a good responsible smart guy. He loves the game and feels a responsability for all the characters, he loves them and wants to help them. <<less

It is far too early to give a decent review but here are some of my thoughts.

The story has a strong start, which kept me invested and immersed. I could actually feel the emotion behind the MC, who was left struggling and hopelessly dedicated to a failing game. This particularly appeals to me as I’m always playing failing games like the MC did.

The transfer to the main plot was executed more beautifully than most other world transfer stories.
Spoiler

His presumable death was slow, painful, and depressing. It felt amplified further with his neighbor attempting to save him. The use of dreams as a transition made me feel a little light headed, which somehow made the experience more wild? I can’t tell if I was just too immersed or I drank something awful earlier.

[collapse]
I can’t describe it well, but it’s better to just read it firsthand.

However, when the main plot with (a lot of) game elements begins, my immersion was kinda broken because I was heavily confused with what was going on. The MC seems to know what’s up, since this is apparently just a rerun of the game’s plot, but I’m still confused with the setting, the surroundings, and the people. There is little description to imagine off of. The story tells that it’s a middle school or something, and there’s a test going on. But the only person we know at all is MC. I just nodded through the rest of the chapters thinking, “Yeah so MC is doing this and these other people want to survive and are doing stuff. I think.” This would probably work better as a manhwa so I can get a better sense of the surroundings and characters. Despite the current plot being confusing, it also feels a bit predictable right now, and a bit cliche. Honestly it kinda feels like the Novel’s Extra.

The overall story in good and the power system is unique, but why on earth does it have so much useless content? This is a world near the apocalypse but people care so much about non-combat things like music, school drama reporting and traditional Korean arts.

The worst part is that it doesn't even relate to their abilities (like Min Geurin has a running skill instead of magical painting skills? Lena's violin training is simply for leisure and has nothing to do with her combat?) There are so many painting arcs... more>> but it's not even superpower-related until we finally get to one specific painting that was commissioned to be a hint of some kind.

It just keeps repeating the same useless daily life segments over and over again, side characters (esp. The Silver descendants) often feel like NPCs repeating the same dialogue and playing their little role as a collective group with no individual aspirations.

I get it, it was funny at first and gives the whole school a very wholesome and harmonious atmosphere. But not when I have to sift through dozens of chapters just to get rewarded with one tiny sliver of combat by the MC. And it usually ends very quickly with the MC never being pushed to using his combat versatility to its fullest. In fact most of the time we see these otherworldly rifts open but the protagonists don't even go inside, they just defend from the outside. There's no strategy despite him being a chess player, and the author is always too lazy to write out combat strategy or rift conquering strategies. From my imagination, it just feels like the rift contains some monsters and a boss monster, other more powerful characters enter it and kill the monsters, then they come out and see our MC's group defeating some arbitrarily ranked monsters that escaped from the rift. It's boring, and senseless to dedicate so much time towards non-relevant school life and traditional Korean arts.

When I first read the beginning (btw the tutorial was very well done), I imagined the rest of the story would continue like that- where players need to strategise in deathly stakes with a bunch of random cards they hold. But no! Afterwards, the combat gets very generic, the power system is not well explained, and the MC gets power ups very easily. We always feel very safe because there are a bunch of extremely powerful Jin carrying out the real plans (which is justifiable because MC saved them with his past knowledge), but nonetheless there are no real stakes.

Seriously what is all the daily life fluff for? Why does it keep repeating unimportant scenarios? Why are characters having arcs with violins and painting without their superpowers having anything to do with it? Why does action only takes up 1% of the word count? It's such a shame given how interesting the tutorial was. <<less

[/"hero heroine this that they are so amazing", , the side character who ships the heroxheroine would get annoyed because the MC "getting in between the ship" is that his fault?? Okay it was funny in the beginning but it got annoying when it kept coming up on the latter part of the story.

the author also loves dragging the story in circles sometimes, okay I get it there should be some kind of logical thinking to get to a point (?) but it drags on for too long sometimes, so there's pacing problems.

good points are there's alot of focus on the side/support characters which I loved but also sometimes hated when annoying characters would get sm screentime, hwang-ho, baek-ho, junyeol, jegeon, yuri are my personal favs, and ofc uishin is my baby, I really adore him.

overall good story building, rational, smart, powerful and self- sacrificing MC, amazing supporting characters but pacing isnt it sometimes, some annoying npcs/side characters, pointless hetero couples, MC should be given some growth when it comes to prioritizing himself, he puts himself down too much so its frustrating to read. I mean its been over 1200 chapters for me so i'd like to read some more character growth instead of him always putting up his playable characters before himself yeah trauma is trauma after all but a story this long should have some more character growth he did yes but not enough in my pov

This is really one where you have to grit your teeth to get through the awful translations. This story is great. Probably one of my favourite novels I've read so far. After reading 1000+ chapters here's a few reasons why I would recommend this novel.

  1. The MC, Eushin and all the other characters are written with such depth it's amazing. The author writes imperfect characters that grow as the story grows. There are a lot of characters in this novel, and they all have different personalities that make them seem more 3-dimensional, and not just your typical side characters. Overall, it's an enjoyable experience to learn more about characters other than our MC. Eushin may seem OP at the beginning, but he has flaws that make him more of a likeable character. If you're a fan of kind or self-sacrificial MCs, who would do anything for his people - this is your novel.
  2. The pacing - This story is pretty long, and slow-paced but I enjoyed each of the story arcs so far. I'd say there's quite a balance between fluffy every-day life and action/mystery. The chapters are long, and the arcs are longer. It's definitely a novel that goes deep into lore and character backstories.
  3. It's an Academy story that doesn't have a major focus on 'love' or absurd harems. This is personal preference, but I found it refreshing to read a story that has no romance (for our main character anyway) and focuses on deeper relationships between family, friends, enemies and one's self.
The con: the terrible translations in the beginning. I believe it gets better after 100 or so? I couldn't find any translations after 800-something so I've been translating it myself since then.

TLDR: Recommended read If you can get past sh**ty MTL translations in the beginning, like the academy, game, action, no love (for the MC) genres. Great characters and... more>> sub-characters. Long arcs, but interesting stories. <<less

This novel is bad. And the high ratings may be because the bad translations hid the terrible plot and plotholes.

The premise is the MC plays a very hard video game. The game has several thousand NPCs that you can pick from. Each NPC has ONE divine ability that's unique to them. MC plays them all but always dies at the end.

He then gets teleported into the game as an "extra". His default divine ability is an SSR extremely rare ability that lets him perfectly use every weapon and weapon skills... more>> in the game. Then he has several other hidden OP abilities, including seeing anyone's stats, changing the future from his decisions, and being able to talk to the world's creator. But his most OP hidden ability? Remember those thousands of NPCs he played? He can now use every NPCs' unique ability in the game. AND he can shapeshift into those NPCs whenever he wants. <<less

I love this novel - it is my favorite novel from the ones I read. Translation from LKT is very good.

It's an academy novel with a system, slice of life moments and very interesting characters. Side characters all have their backstory with character development - it's very nice to see so many characters that have that here. There's a lot of hints and foreshadowing in the beginning and the plot is very good. MC is a bit self sacrificial (he's very afraid of death though), and sometimes oblivious (he's smart,... more>> but he's not very good at reading his own emotions).

For those of you wondering if there is romance, there isn't. You can ship characters that have good chemistry, but there's no characters that are in love with our dear MC.

P.S. My favorite character is Kim Shinrok. I won't explain myself haha. <<less

This Novel is well worth the slog through the first few chapters with bad translations!!! Don't let others turn you off of this hidden gem please! The characters are well thought out and the story is fantastic. If anyone is interested in found family tropes this is a story for you as well. I don't want to be that guy who fusses over translation quality but goddamn did it ruin it all for me. The first 70 chapters felt like a slog to go through and I found myself creasing my brows all throughout just because of how some things just doesn't make sense with how it was initially translated unless you use a good amount of your brain juices to fill out some things by yourself.

While it is certainly not Google Translate quality, it's quite close to that (at least the first... more>> 70 chapters). I guess it also doesn't help that things in this novel are hard to exactly translate, especially the skill names lol. What the heck was that mouthful of a skill name, anyway?

Overall, I think I'd give this novel a chance some other time but as of now, my brain is too tired trying to interpret stuff, what with things changing names almost every chapter and etc. They say 1st impressions is important and this novel botched its first impression off rip lol. Looks good but the first 70 chapters needs to be revisited cuz goddamn is it atrocious. <<less

Unfortunately, some chapters still have a very bad translation. They say they'll fix it alongside the daily update tho, so don't worry.

Beside that, this novel is awesome as heck! It's a story about Isekai, where the main character, Euishin, get transported into a failed game (they called it failed because the game don't exactly have a fanbase with how crappy their story is, hence no one want to use real money to gacha. Or even play the game itself) and he decided to help this world reach a happy ending... more>> instead.

I like how the author foreshadowed things from way, way back then and always remembered every single details that turned out to be important in latter chapters. Everyone is important. If author give em a name, then they'll play a role sometimes soon. All the characters have a unique personalities. Even Euishin acted like a clown sometimes. He's definitely a fanboy, always on his 'playable characters' side no matter how cringey they are lol.

This novel is still ongoing and per chapters is actually kind of short. My suggestion is that you should wait till this novel updated for, like, 10 or 20 chapters before you continue on reading. Because some of the cliffhanger are kinda mean!

Will edit this review when the novel is finally complete <<less

12/10 I love this novel so much, pls read you won't regret

Although the pace is a bit slow sometimes, it really feels that the author really think through every part of the plot. Every conversation, every passing mention of past events is full of hidden clues of the mystery that surrounds the whole tragedy inside the game that MC played. The characters and their interactions are also well fleshed out and interesting, each one has their own story and roles.

Also Eushin-ah 😭😭😭 Our smart, humble, helpful, observant, quick-witted, a bit... more>> of frustratingly a lovable idiot sometimes, super kind MC. I love how he sounded really like an otaku whenever he rambles about the OG game in his heads, and how weak he is to praises.... so cute... I just hope everything will be HE, I really really want him to be happy 😭😭😭 <<less

The premise is great. BUT the novel slacks off when introducing characters, it barely gives you any idea of what a character looks like, it only bothers to give you stuff like, "He had white hair" and such. The amount of characters which lack detailed or atleast general descriptions of their appearance is just baffling. (Spoiler, it's every character). The vague explanations of the events/battles doesn't help either, they've so far neglected elaborating on it. The fights feel stale and lacking as it doesn't give you a sense of danger... more>> since the battlefield seems like a plain empty field. (There's barely any effort on describing and at most only one or two words are used to describe the whole place and that makes it difficult to imagine the fights). Honestly I love the premise, but I feel that the story is moving far too hastily, we've gone through several events which showcase the protagonists abilities but so far we haven't been given a proper measure of his abilities (His limits, what his ability requires to activate, etc.) nor have we been given a proper technical explanation as to how exactly it works. So, it's enjoyable, but it's currently overrated! (I don't believe the people who compliment the character writing when they've read the Multiverse translation.. But to each their own). <<less

Holy Molly.

The translation is killing me. I actually died and revived just to put a review solely to complain about how horrendous that translation was. What was that???

The story is actually very good. Based on little things I got, digging through whatever that translation was, I'm sure I got great plot and all that. MC is the type that I like so much and he really back up his words.

It's just... What the fck is that translation? I'm just glad that seems like new translator is taking this and do... more>> a way better job that whatever the previous one was. I'll wait a bit more till they reach the last chapter that I read. Good luck, new TL-nim! <<less
