Hoping to read a lighthearted story, which this story is, but the lack of plot is super annoying. The palace politics are just so bad and there are lots of plot holes in the strory. Even the reasoning for why the MC can get pregnant is never explained.

It's not a terrible read. But it is very mediocre. And so much details and information were simply not there or were extremely lacking.

Actually, I could've given this a 5 star rating for just lighthearted fluff read if it was just the first half. Because there was light bit of drama and then MC and MC's family working hard to solve their immediate problems and finally settling into a steady life.

But the author had to attempt to insert political intrigue into it, which they weren't good at. But they did... more>> kind of save it because they focused on the MC who was not a part of the intrigue and was honestly kind of heartless level of ignorant and skimming over it considering that the ML was center of the storm. Which, yeah, it kind of just became wtf is this? What am I reading? This is neither fluff and cute nor exciting and brain-turning. But it wasn't bad enough to force me to drop.

And then the author kept adding details about side characters that could've been emotionally moving, but it all just fell super flat because they never get mentioned again.

The only thing that got "resolved" in the story was ML's political intrigue that we never get a single bit of details about so nobody actually cares. Everything else from family status to friends to side couples are just left hanging, never to be tied up.

All in all, very lackluster. Readable if you run out of other options, but not something I'd recommend to others. <<less

This novel wasn't anything spectacular. But it has good stuff and decent conflicts.

Like I surprisingly end up Love the realistic feels in the family dynamic this novel has. MC's father is the Very Strict Asian parent type. But even when he look down on MC for being 'useless' son at the beginning and then suddenly pregnant out of nowhere and give this another 'burden' for the family, he still take care of him like a parent do. He cares, he wasn't abusive! And he also care for his new grandson.... more>> When there's more family conflict inside, he listen to MC's suggestion to separate from his other son family. This is the realistic Asian Family Feels where things may not be harmonious but it wasn't exactly bad Bad.

Also this first time where I read Transmigration being Irrelevant. ML is a Transmigrator, his existence is relevant, but him being Transmigrator is Irrelevant for the readers or story theme. We know or we don't know that fact won't change anything.

MC's character is good here. He wasn't OOC for being the Useless to Hardworking person. The circumstances demand this, and since he wasn't bad person in the first place, and does have strict scary father, so he does what he can. And he did decent job! And also when he did almost gambling again, ML stopped him. So there's another factor and reason why he's becoming more Good.

The Schemes and Conspiracy thing is about the Royal family. And it does made me worried. But everything cleared in rather satisfying way.

I won't say this novel has Faceslapping moments, but the bad or annoying people get what they deserved. Both because what ML doing and then the rest are simply Karma. I'm happy with it.

It's definitely not perfect novel. But it still surprising Good novel and I Enjoyed it rather nicely! I Love the CP, Love the Children, and Love the Ending.

The story is 4 stars at least, but the nice ending makes me gave 5 stars. <<less

Lackluster

Exile doesn't feel like a novel but more like a summary of a long novel. There is nothing new and original about it. The writing style is very mediocre. Neither the plot is interesting nor are the characters. The transmigration of ML holds no meaning. MC and ML's relationship started with r*pe because ML was drugged but how this came to be is not explained at all. And MC just accepts ML as his partner without caring that he is a r*pe victim. If this is not romanticizing r*pe then... more>> what is? In fact, many things are not explained and just brushed off.

Also, ML is the cliche type, you know the one who is only thinking about harassing MC all the time. He even gets jealous of his own son if his son gets more attention from MC than him.

Also, ML calls MC, who is clearly a man, his wife. I so hate this everytime an author does this. If you want a wife, marry a female. It's not funny or cute, seriously.

And all the characters are sooo... boring. I just can't see them as characters, I can't give a f*ck about them. Even the children didn't catch my attention, where normally I love reading about children in stories.

Also, in the whole world, only MC is a male who can get pregnant. That's absurd, since no explanation is given as to why he is different.

In conclusion, the novel is nothing outstanding, only mediocre at best. <<less

It’s great. No angst. Some of the plot is a bit silly (not realistic or practical).

But it’s more about their interactions with each other and their family that’s the highlight of the novel. So one can ignore the impractical plot. It’s a nice relaxing read.

Feeds you lots and lots of dog food ahh 😖 makes you wanna go get yourself a partner and few adorable but bear kids like theirs haha

Rating: 3/5- This book’s high points are the babies! So cute and chubby and sweet! Otherwise it’s mediocre at best.

It’s a very badly written story with a constant feeling of rushing through a half baked idea. I read it to pass time mostly but I genuinely enjoyed the babies in this book.

I usually love reading about dads with kids so this book caters to that really well.

If you’re looking for a solid plot or good writing or likeable characters, you won’t find any of that here. Nothing really made much... more>> sense at all. I did not understand why anything happened in the first place?

Why did the r*pe even happen in the first place? Why was the r*pe ignored? How do you fall in love with your rapist? What did they even like about each other? How can only one man get pregnant out of the blue? Was it genetic? Did he eat something? Is he a ger? What was with the Emperor? What was with the princes? What was with the prime ministers? What was with the transmigration? What even...?

I could go on and on and none of my questions will have appropriate answers because nothing made sense from start to finish- except the babies!

So my advice is to just read it for the babies- they’re cute! <<less

Okay, I've tried to read until chapter 18 and I can't force myself anymore. There are plot holes everywhere and the airheaded author doesn't care enough about this novel to make it an understandable read. The relationships in this novel are ridiculous and I can't ship the pairings, even the main ones. Also, even the (supposedly) more serious side about this novel is wishy-washy at best because the way the author 'solved' the problems is confusing and half-hearted. The two stars are for the translator team.

Dropped.

This is a quick read and the characters are really sweet. Because it's a short read, it also leaves something to be desired.

Initially MC's is pretty lazy and easy going, but over the course of the novel, his character becomes a little convoluted. At the same time, ML's origins are a mystery that is never revealed. Only a few snippets of his past are shown, although it's implied that he came from some type of modern society.

The plot is fairly straight forward without any big twists. Ending was decent but... more>> left a lot of loose ends.

Spoiler

Where did ML come from? Did ML ever tell MC he was a transmigrated person? What's up with the unexplained mpreg? What happened to the side couple? I need to know!!

Prodigal son meets transmigration prince.

ML got MC pregnant. They didn't explain why MC got pregnant but the characters in the story just accepted it as MC have different physique. (but I think it's because of ML though)

It's pretty realistic how the characters reacted to the events in the story.

... more>> And it's good thinking that we got to see different pov than the usual transmigration story.

The story didn't focused entirely on ML and MC side.

The elements of the story blended beautifully. Although it's really short, the ending is satisfying.

After the climax, the left it stagnant. It didn't fall and the author just stop from there.

Although I am hopefully wanting more. But thinking about it, it better to stop from there.

Just like MC father said, "this is the best outcome for his son"

Over all this is a great novel.

So satisfying...

Super recommended!!! <<less

I really liked this story. It was sweet and fun to read. For once the mpreg actually followed the timeline of a normal human pregnancy along with the morning sickness and other symptoms. The story also touches on realistic child resting with the kids not always being perfect angels. There are sleepless nights, wetting the bed and tantrums.

The transmigration was so rarely mentioned it seemed absolutely pointless. I barely remember it being mentioned. The first half of the story involves the two main characters getting together while the second half... more>> touches on imperial court drama.

If you aren't interested in children or mpreg this story isn't for you. <<less

Please I beg you. Please update more !!!!!!

I especially like this story of family. Not the r*pe scene. Cause he was more or less r*pe while he was drunk but then the guy just left him that jade button. Which is like a goldmine if you mis. used it.

But I bet that person did not know that he got pregnant. Cause ahem...'he is a guy'

But the plotline is very interesting. I hope you update more.

I really love this novel and always come back to this novel once in a while. Its semi slice of life, "a mundane slow living in a village, while you suffer a while, life begin better later" is what I describe about this novel vibe.

Yes MC is pretty dumb but its kinda his charm, he know he's dumb but he'll try. While ML and MC has a rough beginning, ML helps MC alot (but not in a dominant way like most ml's)

The ending is good but had room for... more>> improvement, like there's some sideplot left unanswered. <<less

I want to make something very clear: while the tag says r*pe. That is not what happened. Neither person said no to it at any point.

Spoiler

Main character (MC) gets drunk and starts stumbling his way home late at night because his family standing just went down the toilet due to someone else’s schemes against his father, the prime minister, and they will be exiled to the dangerous borderlands in a few days.

Male lead (ML) gets dr*gged with an aphrodisiac due to someone’s schemes and runs away, finding himself alone in an alley while suffering the affects.

ML is gay and sees MC, finding he fits his type to a Tee and is extremely beautiful in his eyes. While neither are in their right mind, ML drags MC into the alley and acts on instinct. MC doesn’t fight because he’s too drunk and the author makes it seem like he just lets the tide take him and goes with the flow for the next few days. Afterwards, ML proved to be a bit too rough and didn’t do enough preparation, so MC is injured, but MC sees it as nothing more than an inconsequential bug bite. Annoying, but whatever.

[collapse]

It was a one night stand. Both parties see it as such. MC is a bit miffed about it, but when they meet again, his reaction makes it fairly clear that it wasn’t something that really bothered him or gave him PTSD as true r*pe would. It only annoyed him because he’s a guy and he’d never considered himself gay and it happened with a complete stranger who didn’t (couldn’t) stick around after (some misunderstandings were involved there). After they fall in love, it’s clear that the only real negative of their first time was a lack of preparation. ML actually winds up making it up to MC before they even meet again, and MC actually owes him when all is said and done.

Now, for the review. I am someone who enjoys dog blooded stories with the MC face slapping like there’s no tomorrow. But this is a nice reprieve from all that. The MC is, well, st*pid as all get out. He starts out as tr*sh who’s only good point is that he doesn’t sleep around. He reacts to his pregnancy as most men would in that situation; by freaking out. It’s actually fairly accurate on that side of things. He does, however, grow with fatherhood and changes gradually for the better. There is very little real drama, and problems are solved fairly quickly. While the main problem (exile) drops to the back burner for the bulk of the story, they do explain why and eventually address it.

To make a good comparison, “Exile” reminds me of the anime “Mushishi”. Not in the characters or storyline, but in the underlying feel of it. After watching many, many dramatic anime, “Mushishi”, with its lack of drama and easygoing storyline, creates a nice haven to relax with. “Exile” does the same for the BL world. It’s not here to keep you on your toes or showcase face slapping and intrigue. It’s simply a calm story about an odd circumstance. About first love and awkward times and growing up. Neither character sets out to change the other, but they wind up doing just that. Not big changes, just little tweaks. Pushing each other to be better versions of themselves. MC gives ML a home to belong to in this world, and ML shows MC a better and more respectable way of living. <<less

2.5 stars, dropped at Chapter 50.

Somehow I read on and off through 50 chapters over several weeks before realizing I didn't care enough and finally dropped it. The story itself isn't bad, but it's not very good either. Readable and generic are maybe the words I'm looking for—nothing new and nothing memorable, not particularly interesting or exciting, nothing unexpected. Things happen and that's about it. It's kind of like eating plain toast for breakfast on days when you're in a time crunch or lazy and haven't gone to the market... more>> to get groceries—it's fine and sufficient while also being completely unmemorable and not something you like enough to seek out if you have more time or better options.

It's been a while since I dropped this and honestly I barely remember anything because it was so unremarkable. About all I remember is that the protagonist had all the agency and charisma of a piece of damp tissue paper—things just happen to him and he's like oh noes woe is me I'm preggo and bad things are happening to my family, alas! And then they have to move and he has his kid now to serve as a convenient plot device and link to the mysterious ML who knocked him up.

The ML as I recall was kind of annoying in that overbearing possessive stereotypical way, but I remember so little I can't quite recall if he was the cold mechanical ruthless type or the just as annoying smuggo manipulative type. I think maybe he was more of the latter? Either way, he wasn't interesting enough for me to remember which type he was, which is pretty sad. I think at the point I dropped this there was maybe more plot stuff finally starting to happen involving vague political stuff on the ML's side but it wasn't nearly interesting enough to keep me engaged. But maybe that didn't actually happen and I'm confusing it with other period novels because this one was so generic. Idk, man.

1 star for being readable, 1 star for the occasional vaguely entertaining scene, and ½ star for nothing being standout offensive. Yes, that half a star reflects some of the horrendous stuff I've read recently—boy have my standards been lowered. <<less

it went downhill because I've noticed that

Spoiler

the ML doesn't have a plan (or perhaps he did but the author did not care to elaborate)

He is so short-sighted and unambitious. It really irks me to death. Considering that you have a husband and 2 infants to care for, how can he not think of a way to better their life? Given that his Consort Mother is prone to bullying people, and has verbally assaulted SCB?

His husband be living in fear and anxiety in his own home smh to the point that they just moved houses to avoid it.

The face slapping ain't that satisfying either, It makes you go "That's it???" He just lets his mother do whatever the fvck she wants ngl

All he does is fool around with SCB, it really worries me if he's gonna get him pregnant again, he's so irresponsible.

He didn't even marry SCB so he really can't call him his wife, maybe baby-maker or boytoy is more appropriate it's so annoying

Really irked me so much I started skimming from chapter 85 and decided to drop by chapter 89.

the story is decent, with some plots. There are some conflicts, but not that eventful to be called conflicts. It's a light reading, if you can just ignore all the lack in plotholes and do not think to much, you'll be able to enjoy this novel.
Spoiler

true is, the ML is a transmigrator person from modern world but tje author didnt even care to mentioned why he was transmigrated over, or at least the cause of his death, and the reasons he transmigrated to this world. Is there any tasks? If not why made the ML as someone who transmigrated, he can just be a normal guy.

next, MC can get pregnant? Why??? It's weird but the author dont even give a reason. And the people surrounding (the characters in the novel) just accept this as if it's normal?
honestly the stuff with the official palace matter in this novel is confusing hahahaaa so I just read them without reasoning, just to get them over.
none of the side characters got their story/ issues solved or completed. Kinda regretful.
