Dang I'm 19 but I still feel old reading this. It's fluffy and have so many comedy parts. It's good as a Highschool story. I think 19y/o is the right age to read this right?! It would be awkward reading this at the same ages as the MCs. (Considering there's a papapa ya know hahahahah)

Great read for those who are missing youth and school life! ;W; The development, both in the relationship of Xie Yu and He Zhao, and of the characters themselves, was so satisfying; it makes the readers want to cheer them and the rest of their class on. It's a little slow at the beginning, but there's lots of comedy and shamelessness (especially from He Zhao), a really great heartwarming story of teenagers trying to do their best and enjoy life.

well, its a good novel, the writing was good enough, maybe around the top 10 MTL that I read... from one ch to the next one was smooth. its easy to read, light not too deep story also a little bit humor there.

its a campus romance in anyway, but what good is the story really going around campus story, class, friend, study, and school... it didn't tell much about story outside campus.

Okay, maybe what I want to express can't be expressed the way I want but I still want to say what I think about this novel.

words cannot describe how much I loved this novel! The relationship was written well and it had me hooked right from the start, not only that but the characters were so well written and its one of the few novels where I wish the side characters showed up much more.

if reading school, comedy bl novels is something you'd enjoy, then ur missing out on alot by not reading this one!!

Finished reading this in just two days and I liked it quite a lot.

A story about two boys who pretend to be dumb and compete with each to rank bottom despite being really intelligent. The characters were written extremely well. Their relationship development was quite nice to read, from strangers-to desk mates-to friends (?) -to lovers.

Talking about side characters, everybody were nice. Like class 3 students who were first afraid of MCs but later become close friends, and my absolute fav Old Tang. Everybody needs a teacher like old Tang... more>> in their life. Such a selfless and kind teacher who never gives up on any students despite how hopeless they seem. And lastly the black water street. I really loved their familial bond.

Overall a nice story but there were few chapters that was just boring so I had to skim through it. All in all a must read story if you love romcoms with mc's who have equal footing and no angst.

Ok, the short version is : I reccomend it if you like slice of life esque comedy stories, and slow build romance.

So. I adore this story. I've reread it three times now, and I loved it every time. Like, slice of life isn't actually my thing, but I still loved this all the same?

Xie Yu is a pretty cliche character (silent cool type) but I appreciate the small unique characteristics that the author gave him (his godly luck) and he was never a bore to read nor had I ever... more>> lost interest in him while reading. On the other side, He Zhao is a character I find very refreshing and fun (?) I can't explain it in words, but I found him very funny and just plain interesting to read (the way he reacts and does normal day to day activities is just so... wow???).

Their interactions are where it is at. My favorite trope is "they act like a couple, but they aren't actually a couple" and this novel nails it to a T. Not only that, their interactions are always super fun and hilarious to see unfold.

The side characters (their friends, teachers, and even 'antagonists') are also quite memorable. I did not have a single problem trying to recall which character was which, and that's a complement (especially for chinese novels).

The pacing is pretty slow (much slower than most novels I would be reading), but I found myself not noticing while reading. I didn't mind the slow pacing because I enjoyed the journey and the way it was translated made it felt pretty compelling. Though I get how it could be too slow for some people (tip : don't read it all in one sitting, it will get boring that way).

Some people would find stories about high school life boring (and I get that) but I read this right when the pandemic hits and I lost two years of my High School to it... I guess you can say I was nostalgic for my high school years and that's why I liked it so much?

It was a surprisingly nice read. The story was unique and interesting. There are a lot of novels about school life and genius students, but I have never read about MC and ML, who were so determined and worked hard to take last place, not only in the class but in a whole grade. It was really funny but, at the same time, heartbreaking. The reasons as to why those two young people decided not to receive good grades despite their abilities were sad. I loved the MC's and ML's characters and their interactions. MC and ML figured out their filings pretty fast, accepted them without panic, and got together easily. The fact that they liked people of the same s*x didn't bother any of them, which was also pretty unique for this kind of story. Side characters are hilarious too. Interactions and relationships between characters were heartwarming. The atmosphere that is created in this novel is wonderful.

This story has a perfect pace; things are not dragged out, and there were many funny parts, yet there were serious and sad moments too. I really loved it and would recommend it to other readers too. <<less

One of my favorite novels of all time!! Luckily I read it before the original site got taken down lol and I downloaded every chapter cuz I just loved it sm XD It's a bit slow and confusing (lol) at first but I swear it's such a great read

this novel was actually so lovely. It didnt drag out unnecessarily long like a lot of others, and it wasnt a painfully slowburn. It's something I feel can be reread again and still enjoyed in the future.
