The cousin that Jing Huan has been closest to since he was a child was labelled as “the other woman” in a certain popular online game: only after devoting herself did she know that the other party was a jerk with a girlfriend.

After several days of being bullied online by people in the game, his cousin went abroad in a fit of anger and sorrow.

Jing Huan couldn’t take this lying down; he decided to take revenge for his cousin using the same method as that guy – buy a character in game and kill that slag guy thousands of times online.

With his strength and skill as the Great God when the game was first launched, wouldn’t he be able to kill that guy and force him to quit the server in minutes?!

He went online, eager to fight, but made a discovery after conducting a round of investigations — this slag guy was the number one DPS server-wide, number one on the expert ranking list, number one on the wealth ranking list, number one on the popularity ranking list, and number one on the fame ranking list.

Conclusion: Can’t screw him over.

Jing Huan felt despondent. He was just about to give up when he personally witnessed his dormmate’s online relationship end right after meeting each other in real life. The other party had sent fake photos and changed their voice, and had even cheated him of his money, triggering his dormmate so much that he was almost admitted to a hospital.

Jing Huan felt enlightened as a sudden realisation dawned on him. After comforting his roommate, he moved the high-priced voice changer back to his rented house overnight.

Honestly, there isn't a need for me to write a review considering how many people have already so I won't go into depth and just say a couple of things. Firstly, I have a habit of dropping novels a dozen or two chapters after the couple gets together but this is one of the 1/3 or 4 cases in which I actually finished it normally without starting another novel in between. Take it however you will. Nearing the end I got a bit sick of the writing style, or maybe... more>> it was the translation. **The translation wasn't bad, it was good!** It's just that I'm nitpicky about some details when reading danmeis that are completely inconsequential to other readers, such as frequent usage of 'very' and 'ing'.

Would I recommend reading this?

It could be just me but I've gotten tired of characters being rich - they can afford everything they want and not have to worry about it. It feels a bit unrealistic and was ticking me the wrong way when I was reading this. But if you love rich characters, go for it! All in all, I wouldn't particularly recommend to read this or the opposite. <<less

The characters are lovable! There were problems and misunderstanding, but they were not cliche and the characters (mainly MC) had character development and knows what he wants and pursue it. ML is very doting and loyal.

Sweet, with some ups and downs bitterness, but no s*upid drama.

Really liked this one tbh but the only thing I didnt really like might be that the Mc's were total douchebags to their friends for no reason lol that I didnt really understand why, maybe bcs of the comedy aspect I suppose.. Otherwise it was a fun read. The ending wasnt anything amazing and there couldve been a lot new elements as to add the story more characteristic features but as a short read it did what it could ! Completed main story and 4 Extras

Story: Super slow romance, but it’s okay since it was hilarious! I’m not sure if I was just in a good mood, but I was chuckling and sometimes laughing out loud while reading. I sometimes dislike the second hand embarrassment in stories, but I was fine with how it was presented here. I’m not into gaming, but I didn’t mind the gaming aspect of the story. It was easy enough to understand, and not overly detailed so it wasn’t boring to read.

Characters: I love both... more>> the MC and ML: sweet, funny, and lovable. I also liked the side characters (rl friends, and online ones). No annoying characters for me.

NSFW / SFW: The NSFW were only on the last 2 extras so the rest are SFW.

Conclusion: If you’re into fluffy (but not sickeningly sweet), slow burn romance; I’d recommend this. It isn’t long either so it’s a fast read. <<less

this is definitely one of my favorite modern danmei. The story is sweet and funny (I was definitely laughing at some parts), though not complex. There isn’t really any angst either, but, even so, it did not become boring—as I feel many fluffy stories can.

their relationship is really cute and sometimes I come back to read parts of the story because it’s easy to enjoy.

4.75/5 ⭐️ Gaming is my favorite genre--I've read lots of gaming novels that have been fully translated by actual people and this novel is definitely top-tier. I loved this even more on my reread, and I already loved it during my first read in 2020. It has an interesting premise (catfishing for revenge in a game) built on top of a misunderstanding. The MMORPG experience was immersive and really fun. Plot-wise, everything I expected to happen did happen but they didn't happen when/the way I thought it would happen. It... more>> was very creative, the author was two steps ahead of the reader, and it's really refreshing for that to happen on a light read.

The ending that felt a bit too abrupt (which is why I can't give this a full 5) given the length of the novel and the other issue that was brought up in the last chapter, though I do understand that tackling those issues would already be a different plot/stage in the characters life/relationship and wouldn't have matched with the overall tone of this book.

If you enjoy gaming and are looking for a funny, light hearted read, this is for you! <<less

What a fun read!! Characters were lovable, funny, and interesting! Although, half of the time I don't understand a thing when they're gaming 'cuz idek a thing abt gaming💀 I just imagine NCH to be similar to Genshin since that's the only game I know that has characters like that lolol.

Personal enjoyment 5/5!! One of my all time faves. I wish I could read it for the first time again because it has everything I could’ve asked for - wacky misunderstandings, secret reveals, comedy, pulling heart strings and just great romance overall!!

My first gaming novel that sparked an e-sport novel binge.

Second re-read!

So fun to see the pits the MC digs for himself. The chemistry between the two leads and their interactions are just so pleasurable to read.

It’s a pure youthful on the cusp of maturity romance that makes you reminisce and feel things.

Not an avid gamer but was still able to appreciate and enjoy the OPness of their gaming skills and hysterical events that ensued made possible only because of the setting.

Look forward to reading it again.

This is one of those things that's like dumb but yk in a good way. I feel like absurd plot like this are always difficult to execute as it can easily turn into a childish mess but this is actually SOO good... well paced, funny banter between all characters, the progression of the MC & ML's feeling is done well.

Misunderstanding is biggest plot force here but it doesn't feel frustrating because the story fully reins in with the idiocy. I do admit to finding the first 20 or so chapters... more>> to be sort of tedious but after that it's just golden. Also, I just appreciate XHZ for being the gayest ever cause him falling for Xiao Jing only after realising their his cute male junior is just!!!! <<less

May start a little bit boring at the beginning, but later on it gets more interesting.

It's a comedy, filled with funny characters, altough the ML seems a little bit hmm dull? But his character becomes interesting the more you read it.

The romance is not forced and quite enjoyable. One of fav e-sports novel.

Rereading this for the n-th times now. Its just to show how good this is. The story is very simple and some might say cliche but the way its written / translated turns a very ordinary plot into something that worth to be read.

The comedy is top tier with our main character being as hilarious as he can be. The ML is a very doting partner to MC and their relationship is very healthy

I don't think this is for people who are not familiar with MMOs or haven't read a novel before with the same premise. But, if you've stayed put until the end, you will find this is actually quite entertaining. Not the funniest game-romance novel I've read but it did gave me the laughs and mild secondhand embarassment lol.

The whole ride was actually kind of a mix feelings for me. I don't think the misunderstanding/conflict between them is properly handled, but I also quite like their romantic development. Overall, it was... more>> a novel worthy of its rating hahaha.

So the story is good but I got bored reading the last 10 chapters so I dropped it after they confirmed their feelings towards each other.

Anyways, I know this novel is light hearted and kind of angst free but I feel like the ML should not have immediately forgiven the MC after he found out the other was lying to him during the first half of the story. like it only took 3 or 4 chapters of angst before they reconciled again which is weird since come on... the MC... more>> lied a lot to him.

Also the misunderstandings between them really pissed me off.

But at the same time, the pacing of the story is good and the comedy is also top notched. One thing I really like about this novel are the side characters especially their friends. <<less

I actually ignored this novel for the longest time because I thought it was the recipe for second hand embarrassment. I mean, the premise itself gave me second hand embarrassment. But I was bored yesterday, and decided to give it a shot.

It was worth it. The novel only has a few embarrassing moments. ML is the type that is super cold but willing to give up the world for you once he warms up. MC is the more spitfire type of guy, who is willing to pursue anything he deems... more>> important to him. They're both good at the game (especially the MC who hasn't played in a few years) and it was an entertaining read with lots of fluff and humor.

I do like her other book, PUBG Online Romance of the Century, the best (one of my all time favorites in terms of fluff and warmth). I feel like this novel needed more excitement (it was focused on reality and gameplay but there were few exciting instances). With this type of novel, you have to be careful because it's common to have slice of life filler but you should also add moments of excitement. That's probably why the highest rating I can give this is a 4 (was actually deliberating whether I should do a 3.5) —something feels lacking. Overall this novel did its job fairly fine and it is recommended. <<less

This is my second danmei. So I expected the story based on the tags, there was a bit of boring times in the story but it will never hinder you from completing this novel. I really love how the author did a great job on telling the love story of both characters. this is one of my top favorites for modern settings

i really enjoyed this one alot. It was really a great read and am still looking for another novel something like this that would give me a similar feeling while reading it. Its a gem.

just the 2nd hand embarrassment of the mess MC is, kinda hard to handle sometimes. But its one of the charms of this novel. I still enjoyed it so much.

would honestly want to go back in time to when I havent read this and read it again.
