Completely unlike any other transmigration/multiple world fic I've ever read.

The MC starts off like an emotionless doll and slowly understands and gains emotions with every arc, each world he falls in love with the ML and the twist at the end was an incredible revelation! You absolutely won't regret finishing and picking this up. You may feel like dropping in the beginning but starting from Ch 29 you would have a difficult time setting this down!

One of my favourite QT! --> misleading synopsis

... more>> This QT novel was super great!! The story summary is misleading, it implies a weak MC but that isn't the case at all! Also, this story is about an earth shattering, immortal love that shook every realm in the universe.

WHAT I REALLY LOVED

1. I've read my share of QT novels and rarely, except for QWFOD and this one, can I read it without taking a few weeks of break in between. QWFOD was my first QT and one of the first BL novel I ever read, so all was fresh and new. But as soon as I read my 2nd and 3rd QT novel I realized how repetitive most QT novels are (so for this QT novel have me so hooked... I think I enjoyed it even more than QWFOD!).

But nonetheless in general I still enjoy QT a lot, as usually I treat every arc as a short story, and just read separate arcs of various QT novels at same time, depending on my mood. Some QT novels have great plots for task arcs, but the real life arc sucks or vice versa.

This novel managed to make me binge the whole story in 1.5 day. Why? I LOVED all of the individual arcs PLUS the back story of the 2 lovers was of the kind that I love the most!! -->

I felt so much suspense when bits and pieces of the back story was revealed, and it is grand!

2. MC is not the weak, silly, funny MC I expected based on the story summary which is quite misleading. MC is smart and very capable. There is no system administrator and MC has to rely on himself to finish the tasks. I often lament on QT novels that makes it too easy for MC because the system enhances their ability, looks etc. That is often a pity imo as everything too easily obtained is less memorable. That is not the case here. No cheat system, except only once when MC got a reward and he increased his cultivation. That's it.

3. Repetitiveness is far lower than in most other QT novels. That is also because MC acts more differently throughout the arcs than MCs in most other QT novels. However... That doesn't apply to ML. See below.

Also the arcs feel less repetitive because there is no 'central theme' like revenge or s*um ab*se. Some arcs were more heavy on revenge, two were about making the protagonist of that world regret giving up on the original owner (s*um ab*se), a few had a bit of face slapping, one was most about dog food, one arc was heavy on letting MC discover who he really was etc. Author did great to have variation here!

4. You could blame this novel for having a ML that is almost always the same in each arc... However, I totally loved him!! And it didn't annoy me it usually does. Maybe because ML's unchanging character in each arc is totally fitting with the back story that the author wrote for the 2 lovers. Each ML in every arc is

5. I mentioned before... The real life / back story of ML and MC is just beautiful!! Especially if you like these undying, immortal/fantasy, earth shattering, mad love kind of trope. Author created so much suspense towards the final arcs unfolding their tragic love story that I binged till dawn.

My only point of critique... I wish the author had written longer chapters! It is fast paced even for QT. I would love more scenes especially in the ending arc <<less

4.5/5 for me, minus 0.5 for some minor plot holes and repetive plot in certain worlds. However, overall, this is still a very good novel for me. I love how both the MC and ML are proactive in relationship and willing to sacrifice anything to be with each other. My favorite arc is the last world where their past is explained, it was touching, not too complicated but sufficient to show how they love each other. It was a pleasant read for me. Last, For "THE FINAL ARC" There are lots of plot twists, and the story itself is very sad.

Even though the story had a happy ending. I personally felt very sad after I finished reading it, considering the many obstacles they had to go through to get that happiness.

1) Someone who betrayed the person who saved his life (Feng Siming).

2) A CRAZY B I T C H (Lu Yaoji).

3) The Blackened Second Main Leader (Yin Li).

4) And again, lots of plot twists.

Honestly, I'm quite sad about what happened to the second main leader in the end, but somehow he still did the wrong thing and of course he has to take responsibility for it.

ahhh, I don't think I'll ever finish this, The first arc age gap between MC and ML threw me off a lot (10 years difference) it was stated that mc's body is 17 y/o then that meant ML is 27 y/o? Plus they're adoptive brothers (not that being adoptive siblings matters, they're not blood related but the timing and age gap is) like knowing that they grew up together made me feel even worst, , , , like a 7 y/o and a 17 y/o..... sorry to disappoint anyone who's... more>> a fan of this novel, it just isn't my cup of tea.. I'll consider rereading this when I have nothing to read. <<less

This is that story that you can't judge by only reading without completing the whole book. I am so happy that I was the type that persist no matter how the book is until the end before starting another book. The invisible thread that started everything is in the last arc. For those loved vagueness and feeling of being surprised after nearly 100 chapters. I strongly recommended this and don't read my review below. It will spoils and took out the surprise element.

It is quite obvious from the start when... more>> Gu Bai talking about himself on the airplane. Author dropped the foreshadowing quite blantantly that it baffled me when reviewers said "MC is so bland it is unbearable", "MC is emotionless". Like what do you expect of someone without a heart? MC had been saying he felt like he didn't have heart from chapter 1 till 100. No heart. Can't you logically think there is a reason behind that? Though I would advise those that felt like these kind of reviewers to not start the book. MC really is emotionless, apathetic (as what a person without heart should be), but there are changes accumulated until the last arc because of the reason that you will find in there. If you are those that wanted info dump and justification for each and every action in that very same chapter, then this totally isn't your cup of tea.

Ok, throughout the story I had conjure many guess on who is MC and how he actually got involved in ML's life. My guesses are all a miss. Very good. I had read many QT, but this one still caught me by surprise. A pleasant surprise. And it answered all about MC and ML fate that is started from 3000 years ago. How ironic for

"Gu Bai" that he lived his 23 years of his life fully empty and emotionless like a moving puppet when he is fully human, while the puppet "Bai Gu" brimming with emotion spent basically all his life trying to be a real living being!

You may question Gu Bai's judgement about how for him the former host is the white moonlight and is never in the wrong. For me, Gu Bai might seems to sympathise with former host more than the host's enemy even if it is both are in the wrong. Because in Gu Bai's perspective, former host sacrificed everything, even the chance to incarnate. Meaning they all turned into nature energy that is absorbed by ML into nothingness. I feel it is just right to sympathised with them more. Though I doubt Gu Bai is actually using his feeling, he more likely just rationalised it. And what I like is Gu Bai tried as close as he can to fulfill what the former host really wanted. E.g: zombie arc and that gaming - hidden love arc. He gave everyone equal chance to redeem themselves before he see if he had to settle them himself. Because former host is still there somewhere in his soul, and they may change their wishes once they saw the change in their enemy or love interest. I also love how he gave that teacher in first arc a chance to prove that he can change due to former host strong conflicting feeling towards him that is 50love-50hate. Reality is harsh though.

This is actually the point that makes me believe in this book, the author's moral and ability. Never regretted it.

Keep in mind, this QT doesn't really need him to live until the end of his life span there. There are world that he had to abruptly been cut off. But it is okay. Because the deal of him and the mysterious man is that he will fulfilled the wishes of former host. So long he didn't feel the remnant soul in him anymore, he succeeded.

The aspect that ML got involved with the worlds to gain his lost power, while Gu Bai went through the worlds to become closer to the truth of himself, and the clown Yin through the worlds unable to detect Ye Cang were woven splendidly.

ML - Might seems obsessed, possessive, especially in the beginning. There is always consent from MC in the first place before they go into the relationship. However once in relationship, ML is very controlling (though if we think deeply, this behaviour should be due to soul trauma of the incident 3000 years ago). This gets better though, as ML isn't alone anymore as MC also begins to become obsessed and clingy (too used to hugging golden thigh) lol. So they are perfect for each other. However, the reversal in the end, just makes ML so pitiful to me hahaha. Basically he is in the dark and victim of his own lover's gamble.

Every arc had their own distinct flavours despite being common worlds. The foundation might be to get revenge. But there are also arcs that is like healing for the soul remnants. It had its own humorous moments, fluffy moments, furious moments but there is no heart wrenching moments for me (unlike QWtFoD). All world are cliche type of worlds. I think this book main selling point isn't the world hopping aspect, but the truth behind MC's "no heart" situation.

Plot and storywise, it is 4. Translations though are great, so I rate 5. I was about to pass this book due to original translator's website. The readability of the font is messy but the translation was good. Changing to CG though, your reading experience definitely improved. <<less

This novel is worth reading, though it won't reach my Stories Worth Rereading List.

Why?

This story has a great initial premise, good characters, nice overall plot, and interesting mysteries. For instance, I love how the MC started as an unfeeling person whose heart was as cold as ice. He was so cool. I truly love the first arc. The ML is also fine— a typical possessive, caring lover.

Now, as the story goes on, the characters and some strong factors of the story reminds me of Quickly Wear The Face of the Devil. Some examples are: the feeling of soul vibrating when kissing, MC's shameless attitude in the tyrannical & apocalypse arcs reminds me too much of Zhou YunSheng when he was chasing the ML, & the dog arc (which was written and executed so ridiculously) was somehow comparable to QWTFOTD's 3rd extra (fox arc).

Overall, there are arcs that are good and bad. It's up to you if you give it a try.

I decided not to give stars for I am not sure if I should rate it 3 or 4. <<less

This is my first world hopping danmei novel. Per arc was writtenly good though there is just some small smuts but don't worry our ML is very doting, overbearingly good &listens to wifeyxD our MC can stand on his own actually but then again if he can hold his man's thigh why not（〜^∇^) 〜 I love how their love blooms per arc and how the ML opens MC's heart to him. It was exciting on choosing which chara will be the next ML teehee

I don't like ML who is s*um and treat MC badly or MC who like to play ML feelings badly, and this one really fit my taste. Recommended ?

Some element is similar with QWTFOTD, BUT NOT SO MUCH. Any story can't be exactly the same with the other, the experience it gave also different. Its not even from the same author... So read at your own risk

Some points to note:

  1. MC is heartless and selfish. This is the important point, the base of the MC act and thoughts of earlier arcs. You will found him blame the victim aka protagonist in arc 2, that's because that guy made task-completing more difficult in MC's view. He doesn't care if protagonist is harassed or what. He just mind his own task. I think this will be changed as he learn about love and love the ML. This is the interesting part.
  2. Has some r*pe element, forced relationship.
  3. No system, but directly facing the... Master, aka someone who make him do task. But the master not always helping him, not like system. This quick transmigration without system is kinda fresh...

It was really a good read, I really liked the story and how MC personality progressed, And the ending actually kinda made me cry. But I loved ML and MC bittersweet love.

I recommend reading it to the readers who like reading system novels.

This is one of most heartwarming and heartfelt BL novels I've read. And I read a lot... From Quickly Wears the Face of the Devil to ones like Heroic Death System and cute ones like Rebirth of the Good Child... This novel fits right into those novels that have seriously touched my heart.

The main character uses his intelligence and clear eyes to hold onto thick thighs in every world, mainly the male lead. The interactions between them can be fluffy, sometimes fiery, sometimes cute & funny, but all of them charming in its own way that easily touches one's heart.

Sigh... such a cute love story! I read this in MTL so there might be a lot of misconceptions but the main idea can be understood. The beginning is similar to QWTFOD although the MC seems much more indifferent as he's called "heartless". The MC and ML might not be perfect but they're lovable. I loved most of the arcs but I felt that the first 2 arcs were better in terms of character building. As the MC slowly realizes his feelings, their interactions become too mushy! :p but that's... more>> enjoyable in it's own way.

This MC is a strong one. He is not as OP as the one in QWTFOD. He can get the plot points and can cultivate according to the manuals he received in one of the arcs. He doesn't have an OP system that gives him success in every field but he has his brain to workout the details and occasional cheats.

The ML is similar to the ML of QWTFOD - extremely doting and OP. But his background becomes a bit clear within the first 3 arcs.

The plot itself is quite good, but not as varied as QWTFOD. (Sorry for all the comparisons) There are fewer arcs and the arcs in the later half focus more on exploring the identity of the MC & ML.

The MC & ML's background is truly bittersweet and the ending seemed quite satisfactory. Now I just hope that the translation will restart quickly and we'll get to enjoy this beautiful love story! ^_^

P.S. Sorry for all the comparisons with QWTFOD. I'm a great fan and no system/transmigration novel can be compared to it! Ever! :p <<less

A fun read. The relationship between the ML and MC is very devoted. While it is a little dub-con in the first arc, the relationship quickly changes (No continuously bending a shou who does not want to be bent, in fact the shou is happy to chase his man).

I really got hooked when the novel started revealing the story behind the world hopping plot.

First time MTLing an entire novel. Strangely, I don't feel like I've lost any brain cells.

I think what made me really hooked on to this novel is how short the arcs are. They take up about 10-12 chapters or even less, which is a blessing after reading novels with 30-40 chapters per arc. This novel doesn't like to beat around the bush with fluffy details or character monologues.

Even so, I don't feel like the love between the MC and the ML was forced. The author didn't describe their relationship... more>> with a lot of romantic words, but still managed to convey an obsessive love between the two characters that defies logic.

I mean, in the first three worlds at least the love wasn't instant and the MC had to work hard, but in the later worlds, the MC just looks at the ML and they're instantly flirting and kissing. I guess the love accumulates in each world, but I still enjoy the process of falling in love more.

The translator's done a really great job capturing the essence of the story while changing quite a few idioms to better fit the English version. 10/10 translation

I've only read up to chapter 42 so far (27 translated by Peony Novel TL and the rest MLT) but I loved the MC's relationships with the *cough* various MLs *cough*. I also found it very refreshing that the author keeps the side-characters and world-building to a minimum & doesn't let the story get bogged down with unnecessary details but ymmv.

Edit: newest translator is not fluent in chinese. The chapter seems like mtl gibberish it makes me cry. It's already picked by chrysanthemum why you pick it again TT

I've completed it with mtl

Love the MC, love the vinegar jar ML xD and wow the ending, I can't guess so that's what happened ovo

Translator did a great job, she capture the humor, romance and tension very well <3

Wow, what a ride~! To be able to read this novel (especially with several martial-arts-world-with-immortal) using MTL, I have braced myself for the impact, but it was readable to my surprise!

Anyhow, yes, this novel is quite similar to QWFOD as mention in most review, and although the title is "hold to my man", most of the main problem is solved by MC, he did hold ML's big, fat thigh but not that much, similar to MC in QWFOD.

There are several arcs in this, like the immortal world, game world, interstellar... more>> world, normal world, wuxia world, and apocalypse world. It worth to read, give it a shot. <<less

But there is something that it's a little bit to mysterious and when someone impatiant like me reading it that person cannot take it and read spoilers?

But still I liked it very much!

PS: Even if I say so it doesn't have much mystery it just MC's origins
