This story follows Aiden, a zombie who manages to retain his sanity using certain methods in a world 3 years into the apocalypse.

Spoiler

Being a zombie aiden shows a difference from humans. As a zombie he has nearly zero emotional fluctuation, immunity to fatigue and pain as long his head is intact, and nearly no need for sleep.

One great thing about this series in my eyes is the progress - there is no forced instant connection and trust between the characters and everything is working based on mutual interest. There is also no plot armor, characters are not immune and every decision the MC is making is logical and supported by rational thinking and facts.

The MC himself is a person of equal trade, as long as the deal offers a significant enough amount of benefit he is willing to take the risk however he wouldn't do a worthless trade and risk himself for nothing. <<less

Certainly one of the better novels I have read on the website.

This story takes place in a post-apocalyptic USA, 3 years into a zombie apocalypse, the story follows 2 characters, Aiden, a Korean- (maybe American? I forgot) who was a former doctor, trying to survive within the apocalypse. The second protagonist is Arian, who is a vampire that was send to our world. Along their journey they meet Sadie, a little girl.

The novel has good writing, but one of the parts that I thought was really excellent was the way... more>> that the author handles the power of Arian. Arian is overpowered but requires human blood to be able to use her vampiric power, this significantly nerfs her strength while at the same time keeping her powerful.

Overall thought this novel deserves way higher than the 3.5 rating it is currently at. I think that the story is slow at the start but starts to pick up rapidly later on at around chapter 100. Solid 4.5/5

Edit:

It's been a while since I've finished the novel so here are my thoughts:

- The ending seems a bit rushed. To me at least there isn't an incredibly satisfying ending to the story, but I do think the ending is fine, just nothing special. Definitely not as bad as Game of Thrones.

-The author's pacing isn't great until around chapter 80 and I think this is the cause of most of the bad reviews. IIRC the first 100 chapters basically went in a loop of trying to survive until they meet Sadie. After that the novel is pretty good. Not to say the novel is bad before that, I still liked it and thought the premise was pretty interesting but the novel does get much better later on.

-The author planned the novel out fairly decently. I think the way that Arian is nerfed is incredibly natural and also very smart.

Spoiler

In essence, she requires blood from living human beings. The issue is that she can't take it from zombies nor can she have a large supply of it since blood goes bad quickly. Also Aiden needs blood to survive and not zombify so their supply is even more limited

[collapse]

I thought this was very smart and similar levels of thought is put into the novel later on (this is just one example, there are a couple more)
