It's a light read. Very fluffy - a little too fluffy for me, actually, since there was no tension, but still nice enough to finish reading it. It's a fine read if you're just looking for some quick romance with no deep meaning. Very heavy on the gaming side though, goes into deep details about the game and mechanics. Can be a plus or not depending on your interests.

As the reason for the 3 stars, it's because nothing much happened. Some side characters who were his friends disappeared in the... more>> middle of the story and never appeared again (unless I missed something) and the characters I would define as antagonists also ended up in... nothing. They also kind of vanished besides your usual face-slapping canon fodders. Feels like the author just dropped some plot points out of nowhere to focus on the romance.

Like, what about the the rival guild? It seemed like they approached the MC with some ulterior motive in mind, but that never went anywhere and they faded out of existence after MC and ML got together. I was kind of excited to see where that led actually. That and his early game friends disappearing was a huge let down.

It also has your typical stereotype about female players = physically and mentally weak and whiny characteristic of these webnovels. Not very enjoyable, but at least there's some female characters that are quite powerful.

There weren't any really memorable moments between the main couple either, so this is one of those novels I will probably never read again.

It might seem I was a bit harsh, but it's not that bad! I still kind of enjoyed the story despite everything. <<less

cute fluffy read. binged in a day. the translation is excellent (some people might get annoyed at the tl comments, but I personally enjoy that aspect of fan translations. up to preferences though) and kept me engaged throughout which is especially rare for danmei.

there are several aspects of the novel that really makes it a product of its time and culture— namely the typical bl pitfalls; female characters relegated to either being fujos or squabbling cannon fodders, weird consent issues, very... inadequate showcase of healing and dealing with trauma, etc.

its evidently unfinished in a way, but honestly its weirdly charming. the side characters were all especially likeable (lin qiong my beloved), and was the main draw for me personally, and I actually wish the author placed more focus on xiao yu's developing relationships with other players. its not particularly groundbreaking, and I don't even think the couple is actually all that interesting but the quality translation and likeable (if messily implemented) cast kept me binging.

The only reason why I decided to finish the novel was to give a chance for the author to develop the MC's personality. They included a post script saying not to judge the MC's personality since he's really the passive type with things related to himself but I say that this author does not have enough writing skills to portray that type of personality properly. There's a difference between being passive vs being a push over. Due to the author's lack of literary talent, the MC ended up being someone... more>> anyone can bully and he will not retaliate. When he does, he's retaliations were so insignificant that you can disregard them. The author initially claimed that they want the MC to be able to handle things himself. However, until the end of the novel, his friends and lover were really the ones who make sure those people faced the consequences of their actions. With that being said, I can say that he's one of the weakest and useless MC I've read. The cat was adorable though hence it deserves a 3 stars. <<less

I like it!! I like this much fluff and light novel. There are many parts of the game that I skipped that were more on fighting but ofc I did not missed any drama and events relating to the MC and ML. This novel is so refreshing. The game references and the romance just balanced out and it did not feel boring to me. There was also a emotional part on between the past struggles of MC. I was kind of amazed at that type of game... like you can... more>> project yourself in the game and be like a person?? like a normal person? I guessed it like it is transmigrating and going offline means transmigrating back to the real world. The translations are superb!!

Wth I thought this novel would be unbearably boring and shallow after reading all of your reviews. It's fluffy story though. Eventho the MC was naive, but he's not that naive, he's learning and hv character development. It's a cute story I tell you. Please try to read it first, and judge it yourself.

The synopsis doesn't really tell much about the novel but this novel is an enjoyable read. Definitely not a masterpiece but the story managed to keep me interested throughout. It's a light read and has no heavy plots. There are small mentions of trauma but not too heavily described. Something I enjoyed reading without using too much brain cells and managed to still not being bored out of my mind LOL. =)

4 1/2 stars, it's a good quick story I read it in 2 days. I just wish it went a little deeper. I would have loved to see a better development of their relationship because that was a speed run. They feel something toward the other - one who wasn't quite sure what it was till after they got together. Like they moved in together not too long after getting together, I don't know how long he was in game (at least half a year) but they were real fast... more>> to take the jump. Can you really know a person in such time?

MC and his cat were real cute. I liked that he wasn't 100% carried by ML and would do his own grinding, that he had friends outside ML's group. I love that ML spoiled him but within what MC was willing to take. MC could be a little too silly at times but he would show his smarts. Look I didn't think ML falling for a dropout/middle class person unrealistic, online relationships widely vary. And you often see poor man/rich man pairings so whatever. The weirdest part was the brother.

what sort of upbringing did he have that a lip kiss was punishment, he did that to his own brother and not just a chaste kiss but with tongue... when they were younger (ML was 5? I can't remember how old the brother was) that was unexpected and the only Inc*St moment in the book there was no forbidden love or whatever

If anything I couldn't believe that ML company was just full of gamers and that they had so much time for gaming, maybe it was one of those team building things. Like there were days where they took work trips but it seemed that they had way too much time to game. But then again some of them are so rich they don't need to work. I honestly thought it'd turn out the ML was a developer or tester for the game.

I suspected that ML somehow had a hand in MC's special cat & good luck but no there's an AI in the game that's is basically God and loves the cat, and indulges in his whims like following MC.

MC's trauma wasn't cured even in the extras he still had trouble with it. I just wish the author had him going to a therapist instead of calling it mysterious & bumbling through it with his SO & friends. But from what I understand many Asian countries don't really encourage seeking mental health services

It was pretty good as a BL shoujo... The story is more of a simple romance story with a gaming backdrop.

But personally, it seems a little too easy or shallow wrt the gaming and plot... I feel it could have been shorter if that's all the development the author was gonna have.

I thought this would be a funny read. Its not.

The story is ok. Romance is decent. The thing that bugged me the most is MC's description. He's like a girl. Nothing wrong with a feminine character. However, its a trick too often used by BL writers. As if two men being together is ok only if the shou is girly. Ugh.

Lot of loose ends. Also, weird thing. ML parents never show up. Not even for the wedding. That's just absurd.

(My first time writing a review!)

I love this a lot! The story is very straightforward. MC is a very simple-minded guy, he's also not like super smart, Gary Sue, manipulative character, OP character, he's just very lucky. What I like the most about this is his relationship with ML, its very sweet and simple. I do feel like there are few plot points that are not resolved, or simply forgotten by the author, but it don't bother me too much.

I'm not the best at reviews, but here's my take at it!

It's a super sweet story~ The MC has some benefits from the beginning, but he isn't painfully overpowered. People don't expect him to be godly at his job and they patiently teach him, which is pretty realistic! The relationship isn't forced although it progresses pretty (?) quickly, not that I'm complaining lolol

Kinda slow and explanatory for now, but chapter 2 is the best!! The future looks so far away, but I would keep reading if I could get more like chapter 2. The fluff and cringe were so real, I had to hold in my laughter while reading this at work. :P Let's just say, you get your cute cat, and you'll want more cat.

More cringe than fluff. I like the VR game more than the actual story. I can see what the author was trying to do with the MC but the ML was not a good fit. I kept trying to give it a chance. Plus, there were so many anti-female comments that just bring you right out of it. Some BLs just hold true to the misogyny of the mainstream. Also, the whole "not taking advantage of the MC in a weak moment" to "kidnapping him and telling him not to... more>> make you wait too long" thing was weird. Very cute sweet and fluffy story. Except for the MC's past (slightly angsty), the rest of the plot is quite smoothsailing and positive for the MC. He was able to meet good people near the start of the story and because he has a sweet personality, most people really like him and take good care of him.

Too fluffy for me, everything so smooth, if u say it sweet, yes it is, but I feel their love story is like a Disney princess (you know they're in love but you can't feel it, they just say it they're in love, they do this and that, everything turns good, the cannon fodder is unreasonable)

One of the best novels I've read here. It's just so harmless and as unproblematic as a Chinese novel can be. There's lovely wholesome friendships, engaging world building and gameplay, and a romance that makes sense. BL standards are low, but when the ML continually asked for the MC's input regarding both the game and their relationship I was so d*mn proud. Of course it's not a perfect novel. There are still moments of 'I'm not gays he's just special', the stereotypical difference in body sizes, and brushed aside female... more>> characters. Plot-wise it ended weirdly quickly. Side characters and side plots seemed to be forgotten. But overall, a great fluffy read. <<less

This novel was really great, I had low expectations because of the reviews and it was indeed very fast paced and did not have any explanation to alot of things... but overall it was a good read and has a good rating from me since the MMORPG genre still kept it's pace and had a good understanding and explaining things!

I enjoyed this novel, the MC was kind and stubborn and not a pushover. The ML was doting and understood the MC needed time to adjust to change

I liked the game elements

I also liked the translator and have started reading the second novel she is translating

I recommend this story as a calm, relaxing, gaming read

Cute and fluffy. The focus was on the romance. It's super sweet and touching especially when MC have true friends in game and ML support him. Basically, ML and the other characters trying to heal mc's mental trauma and romance.
