This is an interesting novel, although not all the time.

The premise is that the MC is a typical worker who has just been laid off, but he's also rare genius at schemes and plans, whose luck is terrible and who craves money. Although unscrupulous, he never breaks his word. He's coldly logical but also does not completely lack sympathy. One day, he gets roped into a horror game (supernatural + survival + game elements + livestreaming), and, basically, MC fits in perfectly there. All in all, pretty interesting at first... more>> glance.

This novel is more big on the horror than some other novels that act like they're in the horror genre, but kind of trivialize that aspect and make 'cute' ghosts and such, which is a plus. It's not a fluffy novel and the romance is not the biggest part of it (I'd say it looks closer to a subplot at this point). There are also a bunch of fairly well-written side characters, each with backstories and personalities and character development of their own.

The arcs are long, and the author really employs the Unspoken Plan Guarantee (to keep the suspense up, the MC's plans are concealed.) This makes the arcs a bit draggy and it can also make it seem like results come from nowhere, since the author tries pretty hard to make MC look really smart. The ML also rarely appears (that Long Separations tag is real, guys), but he has a fairly strong presence for how scarce his appearances are. It seems like everyone agrees that the first two arcs are the best (I agree).

The plot is actually quite deep and gets deeper as the novel goes on, but whether or not the developments fit in with the rest of the story is up to interpretation.

Also, please put spoilers in the spoiler tag, guys. It's not that hard. Looking at you, person whose username starts with 3. <<less

Currently reading: will rate once I caught up to the most recent update.

Anyway, I just wanted to post something to encourage the people who wanted to read this but might be discouraged by the reviews saying that this is only good for the first two arcs and that the length makes it kind of boring.

The first two arcs are definitely good and will set your expectations up there and after the two arcs it’s not that it downgraded with regards to quality but that it started to introduce a deeper... more>> plot and more complicated “system” that may be a bit fresh in the countless pile of unlimited flow web novels. There was a review about them dropping this because everything is going downhill and, well—MTL can be confusing and there will be mistranslations and parts where readers may misunderstood and I perhaps this is a case with this one?

And regarding lengths of each arc, it’s because when MC plays a multiplayer game, the scene won’t just stick to him. The POV rotates to each player and their own roles and plays throughout the game. The reader will be given a biased view of the game from each player’s perspective and that kind of lengthen the arcs with addition to hidden tasks and complicated storyline and fights in each game which, of course, is understandable. In my opinion, as someone who devours transmigration novels with arcs as boring as watching paint dry that runs up to literal hundreds of thousand of words, this is not bad at all since every other chapter will make your mind backflip around intrigues and problems and there are also action scenes to complement the brain turning. <<less

This is ok although thriller trainee is better if I say so myself but it might just be because it's my first unlimited flow novel and this is like the 2nd but oh well so firstly, the world building is ok although the personal skills is too op if I say so myself like all of them who won the game should get a personal skill, that could've been fun or like the thriller trainee where they find items in each instance but oh well..

Owh! And I kinda like the... more>> interesting theories made jn the novel like I feel like getting smarter and I've been training my mental strength so that I could become like bai liu 😻

AND!! I REALLY LIKE THE SIDE CHARACTERS LIKE OMGGGG!!! I really want bai liu to have a harem and not that cheap ML 🤢 like that is also the 2nd reason why I hate this novel!!! LIKE AAHHHH!!! MY TSUNDERE MU SICHENG AND MY CUTE CRYBABY MU KE!!!

but oh well... it is what it is, that's all, I might edit this after some time <<less

Just the first arc and I am dropping it. One factor for that is the author's credibility as a storyteller.

It had so many plotholes. I think the author is not one of those dumb authors, I think they have the potential to create a good book as seen from this. It would have been good if the attention to the small details was patched.

Examples like how did he found many clothes and ropes in his room to deal with the monsters. You know it did not need a suspension of... more>> belief for this to work. They could explained it by letting the MC find it somewhere, it did not even have to be more than a one sentence, they just have to provide for missing details. But no they didn't, which was questionable, is this a draft that did not go through a second editing? Because I feel not. This inattention to details was intentional to the author, and all I can think of the reason was the author was writing stuffs and details on the go, like 'we need this and we need that, but we don't have that so lets just put it' and they are too lazy to add a simple sentence to provide credibility to the scene. A lot of authors do the first part but it was a must for everone to do the second part. But why can't this author do it? If this was their behavior, then the future plots would still be the same. I don't want to be boggled down with the same shit.

I could have ignore this part, as Ive done with some books before, if the story was just that engaging. Well, with all the TLs boasting about this, it really did not hold up to my standards.

From the get go the motivation is not survival, he was not forced to enter the horror world, he did it for the money which is a very weak motivation for me.

I can't find anything to entice my reading taste. And the decent plot was dragged down by inattentive writing <<less

I really liked the novel, the character development, ML's past, and the MC's. The story was well-planned. I loved the villain; honestly, I don't hate him. Although the arcs weren't as scary as I expected, I really liked some, like The Rose Factory and Qiao Mu Private High School, which were my favorites.

Spoiler

Although I didn't cry at all, I still felt the sadness of the scenes. After 516, I didn't like it as much... there was almost nothing between Bai Liu and Spades... and there was with others, haha.

[collapse]

Spoiler

I didn't sympathize or feel anything when Bai Liu lost his friends. I really didn't feel anything, but I do have a lot of affection for MuSic and Jiayi. I had a lot of blocked emotions from beginning to end, which is why the ending wasn't that great. I felt like it lacked a lot of insight into the present of their relationship, because they suffered so much in the past.

[collapse]

I love Xie Ta with all my being, although Bai Liu is not one of my favorite protagonists, I liked him a little. <<less

One of, if not the best unlimited flow I've read thus far. The characters are so well done and the conflict remains tense even though our MC is still quite OP compared to the average person. The relationship between the ML and MC isn't strong in the conventional sense (kissing and hugging all the time, verbal/physical expressions of love) but it is there for those who are willing to take the time to look deeper for it.
Spoiler

it also essentially drives the novel.

[collapse]

One thing I would say is while the TL will still give you a good experience, if you are able to, read the raws. Some of the wordplay will definitely be lost in translation, the most obvious one being in the names
Spoiler

being all numbers: Mu Si (4) cheng, Bai Six (Liu) not to be confused with MC, Liu Jiayi (+1), Tang Er (2) da. Tang Erda's name was the one that clued me into him being a potential team member.

[collapse]
. (This is not to say that the TLer didn't put in copious amounts of work, but the inherent flaw of translation is more evident in this.)

Amazing novel, I really really love it.

But, Oh dear. This novel is always giving me roller coaster of emotion, one time I'm smilling, one time I'm bawling my eyes out then another time, I'm so mad that I have to complain using my own voice in reality.

Spoiler

But nothing could have prepare me more than knowing what had happen to joker Daniel. I really like him despite seeing a brief explanation about him, he is Bai Liu, no, Bai Six's God child. This man, I have to cry my eyes out after knowing what had happen to him and what that damn evil God had done to him, it's driving me into extreme anger, I'm so mad for him, to the point I would want to directly recruit him to Bai Liu's team, and meet his father. I just want this little guy to be able to talk to his godfather, Bai Liu (albeit he does not know who he is) after suffering for ten years straight in the game... :,)

[collapse]

But anyway, that aside, it was really fun to read and just full of excitement which always left me wondering, what is Bai Liu going to do next? What is he planning next? How is he going to deal with this situation? Just overall fun. I highly recommend if you like survival horror games! <<less

I read this a few months ago, and it was when I first started reading novels. Even if I was a beginner at the time there were still many flaws. And many scenes that weren't well executed, plus plot holes. The only characters I still remember now are bai liu and spade. So to sum this up, my impression of side characters, antagonists, bg characters weren't at all big.

I also feel like the author tried to make the main character somewhat smart but just made him a guy spewing out... more>> shit. Some of his deductions I could understand, and some I couldn't. It was mostly just a blabber of nonsense and don't get me started on the arcs. Some were so boring I mentally couldn't continue.

Spoiler

For Spade, I found him so emotionally dumb it was frustrating. He does develop emotionally and learn new things but overall I hate the fact he feels like a toddler. Like, there was this one scene where if im not wrong bai liu and him were in a tent or some sort, spying on a conversation between two couples having interc**rse and the couples found out these two were eavesdropping because spade kept asking questions. Along the lines of, "what's a prostate" or something like that. And before all that, he was like a really cool guy maybe my memory is wrong, but at one point we were introduced to this cold freezing arc and spades was there like he always retakes this portal to find something. He seemed like a really cold guy and I was interested. Only to find out he becomes a toddler after a few interactions with the main character.

[collapse]

The chemistry and dynamics between each character feels forced.

Spoiler

I recall there was this character, though I don't remember his name. He was gay too and it was during the rose factory arc, he was also the one irl trying to lock bai liu up or interrogate him for something. I found the dynamic so forced.. Oh yeah, also the coin thing. I swear there was a scene where bai liu hid an item under his mouth and that guy was investigating, trying to find the coin. Because in all other lives bai liu apparantly hid the coin under his tongue or whatever. But in this life, this guy (I'll just refer to him as guy, I forgot his name) missed the item in bai liu's mouth. He's also like a regressor, or like dimensional traveler, don't remember. Having lived so many lives, you'd expect him to be somewhat smarter than the MC. But no, they all act like peanut brains constructed by a lobster.

[collapse]

Overall 2.5/5

Somewhat decent if you're reading novels for the first time though <<less

Okay so the MC is very funny and interesting, it takes a little while to realize how interesting he is.

Spoiler

In the beginning I was kinda annoyed about the plot armor but at the end when it was revealed that Bai six was the one controlling I game I understood why the MC didn't die.

[collapse]

As for the arcs they were, in the beginning, were really interesting and well paced but by the middle they got a little boring and were really long. The main characters were really well written they were funny and made the story really good, so we're the side characters.

Spoiler

Also I loved Bai Liu and xie ta/spades relationship it was so cute and funny.

Spoiler

The end was really rushed

In short it was really good 👍 <<less

I understand the Hype in the CN community now!! This is a really good read for someone like me who has a habit of staying up at absurd hours to read. Like any unlimited flow the mystery for this was deep for this novel, the world setting starts off pretty slow with each instances lasting for around 30+ chapters (And bare in mind some of these chapters can go up to 10k+ words in the raws)

The MC to this novel is smart, and calculating he's a natural risk taker... more>> that has a habit of throwing away his life so be warned there is a-lot of plot armour in this novel the 1st 2 arcs is just giving the novel a proper setting and we don't really get into the actual plot until the 3rd arc, whereby we uncover a little bit about the MC's past.

The ML here... it's a little complicated to explain but you just have to know he's the same as the 2 person you read T_T

And now!! My favourite part of this novel it's its side characters!! Everyone who is in the MC's group is my adopted child!! They all have in-depth background stories to explain about their flaws and their actions during the instances. I have a specifically soft spot for the MC's main group because my god!! You will find out how MC treats them and your heart will absolutely melt!! Bare in mind our MC here has somewhat of a stoic and cold personality.

Asides from the good plot, I think the only thing that I was a little put off about this novel is how rushed the Ending was... I know it's absurd to say that in a 589+ chapter novel but I felt like... everything was suddenly cramped into 2 chapters, but overall I had a really good experience reading this so I can't really give it lesser than 5 stars! ^^ <<less

This is probably the best bl novel I will ever read in my life. The story is very deep. If you don't like slow romance or very long stories this is not your cup of tea. Also I can't agree with people that said the story went downhill after the first two arcs cause indeed it did get a bit boring for me after the first two arcs too but I still forced myself to read through it and it was worth it. You can't just read the first two... more>> arcs and give a review saying its boring. But it's still your opinion and it's okay if you don't like it but at least actually read it before giving a review about it❤️ <<less

I am currently on chapter 165 and it has over 500 chapters?

Ok I am not complaining, as long as it is interesting.

I like MC of this novel. He is cold and smart. I am still not familiar with ML. He appeared for a very short time.

... more>> I love side characters and their development. They have their own time to shine. Even cannon fodders have some tear wrenching history.

It is different than many other unlimited flow genre novels. But it has it's upsides and downsides.

Now things I don't like.

At first glance he is not too OP. But he is actually OP. Because he always survives with 0.0001 health somehow? Also he is too intelligent for 89 points! He can understand everything just after entering the game yet system says his intelligence is 89? His 3 point health seems like 300 hp of others. In every arc he loses 99 health on first day after 1 punch then suddenly he is running around with 1point of health for the rest of the game, fighting and taking 0.00001 damage somehow. Author really didn't make a sence in this regard. Damage point is usually consistent. If it deals 10 point damage then it should deal 10 point damage. But this story just forgot about this common sence.

Also it feels less like a horror game. I feel like I am more reading about rpg game novel with guilds. There are tanks, healers, assassins and action, action, action. Too much unnecessary repetitive action scenes. Evey action scene is similar to each other. Someone would hurt themselves to trigger "crazy state" in the last monent and they would win. I don't think author is talented in "action" genre but somehow she likes to write it very much it seems.

I also hate some characters. WTF is wrong with that time travelling dude. He is annoying. Unlimited flow, horror novel suddenly mixed with transmigration, reincarnation, multiverse and time travel revenge genre? It is messy. Feels like author wanted to put too many things and it ended up kinda weird and inconsistent. <<less

So well written and thought out that it delights me to no end. I adore the MC, him being a true neutral chaotic is almost comforting in a way. The Withered Rose Hunter... I can see why some folks dropped the novel because of him, I was tempted to toss my iPad as well. I stayed for the MC and to see where this wanderer will roam.
