Came for fluff got angst with a addition of diabetes inducing dog food at the end.

Imo this is a really well written novel, The start gives us a really soft punch in the gut and a sprinkle of dog food here and there.

Not gonna spoil alot here but all I can say is endure the ab*se of 80+ chapters and youre clear. Just watch them reunite and cultivate feelings again, its worth it I promise!!! After going through all that hardship and end up happily is so worth it to... more>> see. I suggest to not skip chapters for more emotional impact but you do you.

For translation: its a bit wonky but its readable so dw

Do I recommend?: absolutely! Its one of the decent ones in this genre

Ps. If the main story angst didnt gut you, extra 2 will not only gut you, itll dry you up from crying so much in such a short amount of time. Its advised to prep tissue when reading extra 2 XD <<less

This is not a nice and fluffy story, unless you don't read the first 100 chapters. Which is a big change compared to other stories with the same kind of plot. Usually after the MC meets the ML his suffering stop, here the ML becomes his emotional support but they are on different continent, so he continues struggling.

The part in the border town is well written and coherent and we're left with strong and independant MC and ML. Then it kinda goes downhill, it seems Chinese authors love inbalanced relationship... more>> with a powerfull top and loving bottom, so MC and ML go through a change to adapt to these rehashed personnalities.

First, the ML's change of personnality is kinda unbelievable. He goes from a kind philosophy student to a domeneering psychopatic president. Sure bad things happen but that big of a change in that short of a time?

Then, the MC who overcame adversities became a big baby spoiled by his lover.

It's a pity, I'd love reading about two equal adult men.

And finally, what irritated me to no end: the s*x scenes. We all know China censor it, so authors try to use metaphors. But when you read about tea leaves in water, profound sea and seashore, liquid that is not transparent,... you really, really want the author to just say "they disrobed and went to bed, the end". What did I read? What did I understand? What was that? <<less

The translation is not the best so there are some confusing parts but this novel is sweet and heartwarming. It wasn't overly focused on e-sports so you don't need to have a thorough understanding of every e-sports related aspects.

I like how the author mixed romance and angst. The faceslapping was also enjoyable. I also like the last chapter.

It showed how the MC and ML still intersect in another timeline but because of different choices they have a sad ending. I like that they still have interactions and dependence.

This novel made me like soda biscuits and buy strawberry cakes every time I see em. It’s a beautiful novel. All good and sweet a lil boring, a teeny bit funny here and there. Lotsa fluff. Literary narration of s*x (?)

What was that? A bag of onion ninjas sneak attacked outta nowhere and my waterworks started. I’ve never cried so bad for one damn chapter. It was so sad. Don’t do this to me. I’m someone who takes candies after the bitter pills. But. Fucck. This novel gave me the bitter pill just after I swallowed all the candies. And there’s no more.

But satisfactory. Really liked the MC. And the friends. ML.. Well not so much. But worthwhile. <<less

f*ck I cried so bad. It is not sweet and fluffy. I mean the MC and ML are.. but their back stories are just😭😭😭

1. Pay attention to tags. Yes it is a black belly ML and yep there is age difference, don't like it-don't read it. Each suffered in different ways and they... were perfect for each other.

2. The face-slapping is deserved. Anyone who has any complaints can read the extra- the org life where MC and ML didn't meet. And tell me if it is not deserved. The poor... more>> boy wu wu

3. I loved it. The summary and title is so misleading. I really thought it would be a dessert. Too spicy for my taste. I tried my best but that extra took me out. It is very realistic and I think more than the MC and ML interaction, people should have problems with how the parents treated the MC more- he was underage for god's sake! He was their responsibility!

I recommend the fic. I didn't care for the e-sports much.. and sometimes it frustrated me- but MC ML interaction saved the day <<less

awesome amazing very very beautiful and heart warming... two individuals startimg from the bottom and reaching the top while being each others light and strength! ! literally if they weren't there for each other starts sobbing *look to the... more>> extra starts sobbing*

one comment of a fellow reader struck me the most😭😭 they said that they could relate to our MC saying that they also had to save up and eat one meal a day in college because of their family situation then suddenly their dad got a promotion and they soared! I hope they are happy and doing well now!

and I hope everyone out there will stay strong because there will definitely be a moment where everyone will have a little light in their lives😭😭

I cried so much reading this novel. The description doesn't do it justice. I read this thinking it was going to be a 3 star at best, but I was so wrong. It's so sweet, but heart wrenching. It's dark and light and grips your heart.

Grab a box of tissues and read this!

The plot is fine? It's not just all about gaming and fluff, the author added a lot of other different darker themes into the novel as well, which sometimes feels a bit disconnected from the rest of the plot.

Also, there seems to be a guy that wasn't fully introduced Liu SiNian (or something like that) that seems to know everything that's going to happen, I'm not quite sure what his deal was.

Moving on to the MC and ML, I can't say that it feels very real to me.

ML helped MC when MC was young, so MC has puppy love/admiration, this part is fine for me. But after ML got into an accident and disappeared for a long period of time, they meet up and everything is fine again? I thought ML lost his memories or something, that's why they didn't contact each other, but ML apparently can see MC's calls/text messages but just chose not to answer?

Lastly, the translations were very awkward and many things were directly translated. This novel has a lot of gaming slang and little to none of them were properly translated, which was a pity. It got better for a sprinkle of chapters after an editor was found, but towards the end (like near the final couple chapters + extras), there were errors everywhere again. I'll provide some examples below (I just randomly opened chapter 1 and 100 and skimmed through it lol) :

    • "Dude, this computer can get nine kills even in five minutes, where did you buy this hang-up?" - "hang-up" just means a hack/cheating program. For non-Chinese/English only readers, it would be much better to just say "where did you buy this hack?"
    • "he opened his phone and saw a circle of friends sent by his fiancee." - "circle of friends" is also just directly translated. The official translation is "moments" and comes from a Chinese app called Wechat. This is similar function to Facebook wall, where your friends post thoughts/photos, and people can like/comment under the post. Better translation would probably just be, "he unlocked his phone and saw a post sent by his fiancee."
    • "he chose to take it away with his hand thunder." - "hand thunder" is just a grenade
Overall, the first 1/4 or so of the novel is great (plot-wise), since it develops the characters nicely, but during the later half of the novel, it fell off. Everyone just becomes one-dimensional, and you're thrown guns and death and blood out of no where, and then dragged back to fluff land. It's a good novel to read if you want to pass some time, otherwise I would not recommend you to start reading. <<less

A reaaaaaally, really good novel. I read this thinking there would only be fluff. Didn't think there will also be slight angst and I wasn't prepared for it. I had to pause reading halfway through the novel because of it (I'm not too much of a fan of angst, sorry) but I powered through until the end. And I'm glad I did. The MC and ML got their happy ending anyway~~

Full of angst and full of fluff. Honestly, I did not expect myself to cry but goodness... I'm so glad the MC has the ML. Like seriously??? The MC has the worse parents! Everyone treated him as if he is just a discardable item and no one wanted him. Then there comes the ML, bringing the MC out from the darkness and the MC doing the same for the ML as well.

What I love most about this novel is that they are both dependent on each other so there's no... more>> such thing as one of them being overly dependent on the other. The ML might seem very scheming but in the end, the love he has for the MC cannot be denied. Plus the MC loves the ML alot too so its a bonus. Lastly, I love how there isn't misunderstandings between them. Like everything gets resolved quickly? Arghhh love it so muchhh.

But p.s. the end of the extras is a lil too sad :> is like the author give u a candy then punches u directly in the face <<less

I just finished reading this absolute masterpiece and I can't understand all of these liar commenter yes LIAR. don't let them deceive you! i'am 99% sure they are paid commenter! For me, this novel is so "life-like". Painful and heartwarming and the same time. Finally, I love the MC (Shen Chi) and ML (Yan Xuei Xiao) so much that I hope they are real people and live happily ever after somewhere in the world. I did not expect to like this novel very much! I am not fond of e-sports novels but I really love the story of this one although there are some technical e-sports stuff that I do not get lol I just skipped those parts. I love how the relationship of MC and ML developed and MC deserved the best in the world he is so precious ;__;. Some parts are depressing, specially that alternate world chapter (I hate you author T__T).

All the makings of a great novel but some factors knocked it down a few notches.

The quality of translation fluctuates—I think I only understood about 70% of the novel, which is a pity because what I understood I quite liked. I wasn’t sure who died and who killed who or what happened 30% of the time so it was hard to engage with the plot building.

I really wish it were a main character reincarnation novel.

The last two extra chapters with the previous life ending was so good and dog blood-y that if it was the start and you get the sweetness later it would have been perfect.

Rather than the past life being narrated by a random side character which added more confusion. (Or was it a translation issue?)

The other thing that gave me a bit of ick was the pseudo parental relationship in the beginning. ‘My family’s child’ really isn’t something I want to hear the ML calling MC. The transition from parent to lover was done in an okay acceptable manner but the fact that there was even that part was a bit gross to me.

That being said, I did like the overall plot and how they depended on each other. The fluff bits and dog food was enjoyable and I liked the chemistry between the two.

Don’t think I would re-read though.

Where was the sweet and fluffy novel I was promised? This was sad and heartbreaking 😭. I cried so much. I had never felt so distressed for a fictional character before. And that last extra was just painfully cruel. I finished the book a few days ago but couldn't come up with anything. (I'm still processing 😭)

Rating this was hard. The story is amazing. Although I read a bad translation, I couldn't put it down. Something that bothered me was the couple's dynamics in the last chapters. They left... more>> too much unsaid, and I hoped they would heal together. Instead, they got their (hard-won and well-deserved) HEA and ignored all their demons. Every character was a victim of society. Their circumstances were so depressing, inevitable, and real that I had to empathize with them. When comparing both worlds, you see how little it takes to change someone's life. The moment that shocked me the most was realizing how these people were tr*sh in the eyes of society in the original world, and with just an impulse, they got the chance to shine and take their rightful place in that society that didn't need them. <<less

it's nice that the story started when the MC had nothing and the ML was "clean".

a pity for ml's dad, but kudos to him also for developing the education at the border town.

it's also the first story i've read that the "rebirth" memory is not from neither MC nor ml.

overall it's a nice story, a combination of e-sports, face slapping, kindness, great character developments (including supporting characters), and the angst of separation is really really short. <<less

This is one of the most boring novel I have ever read. The story was dragged and I felt I wasted my time reading this. The translation was okay but I feel as of even with better translation I wouldn't read it again.

It was a struggle to finish this one, but I didn't want to drop it after committing so much time into it already. It was too long, and the story is unconvincing when it comes to any of the characters choices.

This translation needs heavy editing, at the minimum the pronounces.

I really like the first part with the story building and the e-sports segments but the translation 😭 I felt like I lost a few braincell trying to understand what the sentence wants to say sometimes, but still thanks for the translator for picking it up, I understand that English is not her first language and I give her props for translating all 160 chapters even if she doesn't play PUBG.

Story-wise, I feel like the it started of strong emotionally then mellowed down a lot. The romance parts is a... more>> hit or miss for me since

Or the fact that Madam Yan is confusing af??? Like did she really love her son and husband?!?! How can she be so heartless like that, Yan Zhao just came back when all of them thought he was dead and the first thing she said was SHE WANTED A DIVORCE WTF LADY, If you really like YZ's ex-bestfriend then you can just d*e just like him lol good riddance
