I have read this novel through the machine translation version and I got to say this is something special.

Now, if you know your "transmigrate to a character in a game" type of story then the beginning of this novel will feel very familiar to you, MC transmigrate to a joke character, no memories of the character past life, and now he is trying to change the scenario.

However, what makes this different is the MC plan don't usually end the way he expects it, this is not because he didn't plan... more>> well, or he is s*upid but because things happen that are just outside of expectation.

For example, say the MC try to save a heroine from being kill by a mob-villain BUT he is also tried to subdue the mob-villain, so MC intercept the villain as they are about to attack and saved the heroine. This how it usually goes and there's nothing wrong with this plan, the villain is caught red-handed and subdue while the heroine is saved.

But, when the mob-villain sees the MC protecting the heroine they remember their past live on how they too tried to protect someone but failed, this result on the villain suddenly having an awakening (power up) event, and so the fight became way tougher.

Now it is impossible to save the heroine AND subdue the mob villain, so what did the MC do? He had to compromise, which one is more important? So he decided the to save the heroine but failed on subduing the villain.

This is the sort of ordeal the MC faced, at first it just minor change in the plan but eventually it become very big, you actually see what big storm was created from the *butterfly effect* of the things he had done. However, this doesn't mean he keeps on failing, no on the contrary he always succeeds in fulfilling his main objective; a character that should have died was saved, a relationship that should have stayed broken was fixed, and so on.

I think the main theme of this novel is *struggle* everyone in this novel, not only the MC, is struggling with something. The MC despite his ingame knowledge struggle to make the best decision, afterall there's a big differences between knowing what will happen and knowing whats the best way to prevent it. The other characters also struggle, I won't spoil what they are struggling with, but its not something that the MC fixed in just one arc or two, but it something he always tried to help with and everyone around the MC knows that, that's why they all look to him.

It can get frustrating at time when things didn't go as plan, or some random variables mess the plan, but despite all that the MC keep on struggling and his struggle is rewarded.

I also want to talk about all the fun side characters, they all so fun to read and each have different interaction with the MC, all have different *skit* with the MC. But my review is already pretty long so you just have to see it for yourself.

A fun read. <<less

There are only 4 chapters available as of this review was written. I'm also not experienced when it comes to objective or well structurized review so do keep that on note.

While its setting is now generic. You know? Transmigation, another world, game into real life, demon king/bad guy invasion, reincarnated as loser/weak/have-bad-reputation-person and battle academy, but I found this novel's interesting.

Protagonist's ability is a wild card. His ability is magic but he has to gacha, whether he cast the lowest ranked spell or the world destroying spell is up to... more>> Luck but of course there is no such thing as luck in fiction, it was arranged by the Author and such thing is not a problem to me. Our protagonist is smart when it comes to utilizing whatever spell he got and I think it shown he or the Author doesn't entirely rely on plot armor. What I meant is that they use spell creatively and I like it.

Spoiler

Another twist is the potential realization that the previous protagonist's body owner knew that he will be possesed and honestly that what interest me the most.

Honestly, not much else to mention but I do recommend give it a try and see whether you like it or not. <<less

Second only to mister s3978871, I'm the world's most unqualified person to review this piece.

Simply because it has Noah in it.

I love her character so much everything just fades into a blur when I try to get into the story's technical aspects—what makes it so good and what its caveats are.

... more>> She's my version of "I've only had this cat for five minutes but if anything happens to it I'll kill everyone and then myself."

In hindsight, her character concept is exceedingly simple. Just a kid with so much trauma that she can only swing between not caring and not being able to let go.

But that very simple concept, as a framework, is able to lend incredible power when humanity is woven into it.

Reading her scenes gives me an incredible delight. It feels like I'm really there breathing ragged breaths with her as we just finished prancing about causing trouble with little care.

Hers is a power fantasy story, yes. But the power isn't in the struggles against adversaries, but rather in the struggle against their own perceived inadequacies.

She acts brave not because it's easy for her but because she can't stand to live not being brave. If she happens to survive an encounter with the literal King of Death, so what? Had she died she would have won the battle with the self anyway.

It's one of the few cases where it pains me to even admit she's fictional. I don't want to think that brilliant light doesn't exist in our world.

But this amount of character depth isn't limited to her alone. The entire main cast shows maddening potential.

As I see it, all it takes for someone to enjoy this piece is for them to pick a character and go "yeah, I'd like to see this person happy". And pardon me for glossing over how easy it is to want to see them happy.

If you do decide to pick up this piece, do clap along with me everytime our main character hits Noah for being obtuse. As much as I love her the prick definitely deserves it.

Edit: I greatly dislike edits, but chapter 63 was such a massive W that I can't help but celebrate.

hahahaHAHAHAHAHAHA let it be KNOWN, my fellow Noah merchants. We have WON. <<less

the 1st 5-9 chapters are fine but as it is prolonged I just feel more annoyed than pleased. The protagonist is your average guy trapped in a genius body in a gacha game. The original owner used to be a successor to the mage king but said mage king also wants him to be dead. This novel could be much much more entertaining and fun to read if it didn't have the isekai genre attached to it. Don't get me wrong the transmigration/regression/isekai genre is appealing in various ways but... more>> in this specific novel it does more harm than good.

If this novel doesn't have an isekai genre. It would be an absolutely interesting tale about an arrogant genius mage who constantly can't get a break from assassin attacks, the world literally breaking apart and a fun wholesome academy life. He could be the Western fantasy version of "Return of the Mount Hua sect", it could have been a hit.

The side characters/ harem is also a problem. Please take note that in my case, I like to read comedy novels with dark humour and there's always an appropriate time for a joke and an appropriate time for a character to just stay silent. This novel just throws the timing out the window.
Spoiler

Grief? Pain? Loss? A princess losing an entire kingdom and she couldn't do anything to stop it from happening and is now currently seeking refuge and has to stay low to not worsen the political scene? Forget all that depressing stuff let's make her a dumb attention-seeker who is also clinically insane.

[collapse]

Spoiler

She tried to grab attention by making a flashy magic bullet on exam day, which is not even the 1st day of school it's literally the entrance exam. On the 1st day of school, she tried to destroy the head mistress's statue (who is a prideful dragon) and claimed that it would be better if she replaced it with her own statue. I don't know why she's the original gacha game's protagonist and holds the key to clearing the game when she's dumber than an armchair.

[collapse]

The Saintess, who only appeared in 1 chapter and had only spoken about 5 sentences, had a better storyline, personality and narrative than the game's protagonist.

The 1 good side this novel has is that the amount of content and drama it had in just a few chapters is amazing, the world-building also shows a lot of potential and thought put behind it. Sadly, the characters and the narratives ruined it all.

Obviously a 1 star from me. <<less
