OMG, This is such a great story. What I liked the most was that the ML wasn't a jerk. This story wasn't like most chinese stories were the ML is bossy and a jerk on the contrary he was veryyyy nice and caring! 100/100

I like it but is it an exciting read, no it's not. The way it was written feels like how a slice of life genre was written, a bit on the boring side but you understand why each character acts the way they act. There was an emphasis on the character's age and how they were raised. My issue with the novel is, it doesnt have a climax...

i wanna say that im kinda glad that I finally read this coz the title seems a lil too much and complicated but its not. When I first saw I was like hmm eh it looked lyk a rom novel btw a 15 nd 50 yr couple but the FL is 17 nd ML is 33 even tho he is literally double her age and he has a son of her age, I was not too uncomfy and mentally considered as 20 nd him as 30 but its so weird... more>> and shocking for me whenever I read stories lyk this, I ship the couple and want them to be together but I reallly am super against child marrige and stuff nd the ML aka wan yang had a child when he was 16yrs old.... like wow..... like wtf anyways abt the story- overall it was a great story, I really love transmigrator, reborn, face slapping kinda novels so this novel was really entertaining and fun. The FL is really likeable unlike other fls who r super smart (this story FL is but only becoz she works super hard too), super good at everything, super clingy and possessive nd etcerta. yea yea the novel exaggerates her beauty a lil tho... This story really shows the third person pov of view and how irl its unfair, shameless and unreasonable. The most I like abt the story is the plot is not too much as in the revenge and everything actually seemed realistic and possible (unlike other stories involving poison, assassins and all), even tho its not revenge-seeking but loved how the FL clapped whatever was thrown at her. The villain transmigrator getting exposed on her own was so satisfying. the ending was also good, kinda felt a bit bad for the ML son as he was fooled by the fairy tale love story loves indulged in him my this mother and the villain transmigrator ingrate lie he was really happy to be with her yea at first only coz he thought they were trully destined and that he possible fell in love secretly. but he hated her becoz ''they were not trully destined'' was sad and annoying. I was a bit ugh and no bro no when he was falling in love with his mother even tho he imagined her as his dead first wife. nevertheless he deservered it for his ignorance, inndifference and immature foolish beha/viour. The malicious characters down falls were really awesome.

I give this story a solid 8/10

EDIT: honestly the third extra abt wan yang was quite justifiable and I really can't understand why ppl hated him for it tho like yea sure he left her on purpose while she was pregnant but also because he went for the relief and plague he escaped the feud btw the young emperor and the first assissant even tho he went ''cowardly'' to avoid her, he did come back in time and realised his mistake and gathered his thoughts and didnt tell her anything about finding her real identity and decided that he just wanted to be happy with her. I really wanna know how he came to the conclusion that lin wei xi is not lin wei xi but gao xi who is his sons dead first wife coz he never meet her in real life before when FL was in her body only, guess thats a loop. lyk its reasonable and plausible if he finds that its not her in real but also how.... ugh in way the 3rd extra makes no sense and it would ve been better if he actually never found out.

I found especially moving the fact that Yan Wang knew Lin Wei Xi was not who she said she was (and maybe even suspected she was Gao Xi) by the time of the proposal and yet it didn't change a thing. She needed someone to care for her, and he wanted to be that someone.

So, this is GOOD.

The face-slapping is a little later in the story but still very good. MC and ML are both very smart, it's too bad the apple falls far from the tree. It turns out the son of the great general MC has very low EQ and IQ

Overall: a good story, fast reading, quite interesting plot

Translation: 4/5 good and helpful notes, smooth. Minus points for grammar errors (e.g. Missing verbs) that slightly annoy the reader.

I love this book so much and I greatly appreciated the relationship between the main couple! It has the right amount of sweetness and drama, perfectly captures how a couple doesn't need to be overly affectionate but still can be toothachingly sweet! I'm so satisfied!

Love reading this heartwarming and kind of funny novel.

Love reading the relationship between Gu Hui Yan and Lin Wei Xi. "They're 2 strangers brought together by fate". It started as mutual respect & understanding and finally, it materialized to love.

Gu Hui Yan is a cold ancient man. He has never fallen in love with any women until Lin Wei Xi appears in his life. Once he falls in love, he falls in love hard and he has a great caring personality towards her.

Lin Wei Xi is a sassy independent woman, yet she's immature when interacting with Gu Hui Yan. Their personalities and background are different, yet, their age gap has no bearing in their daily interaction and relationship.

Though I hate reading the scheming in this story, on the other hand, it strengthens the bond and love between Gu Hui Yan and Lin Wei Xi. <<less

What a journey... This Novel is Absolutely Wonderful!!!

It wasn't Perfect, but it definitely has Perfect and Satisfying Ending!

The MC was Wonderful! After she get the second chance she never expected, she immediately try to be free. She wasn't Reckless, but she does have moment to want to rush thing. She has moment of being impulsive, but in not annoying way. She's pretty smart. Especially because she won't let people trick her anymore like in the previous life. She's not perfect, but she's perfect the way she is!

And so is ML.... more>> ML is Absolutely Wonderful Husband Ever! He always siding with MC, but not because Marriage Image or Unconditional reason, but because he know her character and personality, and because he's SMART! He's not perfect though. If not for his subordinate suggesting him to be honest about the past to clear any doubt or misunderstanding, the relationship between him and MC probably would always has Shaky Foundation.

What also made this novel rather different from other is the step by step of Faceslapping moments. Every 'good' moment feels like one slap at times. But the Big Villain is only One while others was small fry.

But the Final moment is Absolutely Great! And the Ending is Perfectly Satisfying because MC and ML has no secret between each other and that made me sooooooo Glad!!! And I actually Absolutely Did NOT Expect That!

It wasn't as Romantic as I Hope or Expected, but the Sweet moments is Sweet and when Tender is Tender! I don't remember them kissing each other though.... 🤔 but they do hugging and cuddling.

Anyway I Love this Novel! <<less

I quite enjoyed this. I loved the MC's personality. That kind of contrast where she's strong and cold and capable all the time but willful and playful to her loved one is my favorite. After all, who doesn't have moments of weakness? I feel like the MC was appropriately emotional about her past life. Of course, I would have liked if she was less insecure and cared less about those bastards in her previous life, but she's human. Who wouldn't care? The ML was pretty irresponsible for leaving during her... more>> pregnancy, but I also think that the MC gave him enough of a hard time, and he felt guilty for it. The couple is adorable. <<less

I rarelly re-read books mainly because I remember the plot and characters clearly and the story isnt enough for me to do it, but I read this years ago (didnt remember) and loved it then and now.

It's súper sweet, it's cringe, it's sad and it's enterteining

The protas are Smart and the villans are... Well they are there for the show (dogfood), it doesnt have too much polítics wich saves it from beeing boring, it just has the right amount of everithing and is light hearted

There is a few things that are slightly lacking but it's def a 4* novel. Recc to all ppl who are in the mood for slow plots without much twists and turns. -After I finished typing everything, noticed I misclicked on 5* and idk how to change it

MC puts precedence to the role and duties of a wife rather than love. While she does strive to have a good relationship with the ML she doesn't necessarily seek being romantically loved by him. It is most definitely caused by her low... more>> self esteem which comes from her previous marriage and family. She doesn't really set out wanting to get revenge or marry the ML but slowly progresses towards it. Since she originally belonged to the timeline there is more of an accent on filial piety which is a lot better than forgiving for no rsn. Her cutting off the love to the s*um ex cleanly was great, as was her mindset of not needing to marry and there being different ways to live, even if it was influenced by unwillingness born out of self hate. She does have the insane lvl of beauty after transmigrating trope which is probably the main reason she is so differently perceived than in her original body, well, that and the lack of people who dislike and thus gossip and demean her.

ML is 16years older than MC. Plays perfectly into ''distinguished, aloof older man who never had an actual love interest because he was busy being so competent and hardworking with a scary aura but actually really warm hearted to the one he likes'' trope.

Melting. MELTING. The romance in this story has melted me into a puddle. The ML and FL are awfully adorable and the plot itself though it begins with unrealistic arrangements, has rather realistic developments. There are no obvious loop holes and each and every important character has satisfactory amounts of development. The only fault I would pick on would be that the villains are rather dumb and they manage to dig their own pitfalls at every single evil plot they carry out. Unfortunately this is quite common for all novels... more>> of this sort of genre. Another novelty of this story is that the modern girl is the villain rather than the main lead, though this point was not used that much in the story. (Her modern background ideally could have had more of an significant impact)

That being said I thoroughly enjoyed the journey of Xi'er, and how the author introduced and resolved all misunderstandings between the various characters. I even enjoyed the author's censorship of night activities LOL. It's rare to be able to well portray desire without actually mentioning the act but it was pulled off here in my humble opinion.

The translator did an amazing job, releasing half a chapter almost consecutively every single day, though the English is awkward at times it is still easy to read :3 <<less

When I first saw this, I started it out of curiosity at the title. Then I became hooked and looked everywhere to read this. Fortunately altho it was only once a day it was still being translated continously. But, I stop midway because I wanted to read it all in one go. Its killing me to read this everyday and be left hanging. And now, I finished it and I'm so glad that she got the happiness that she deserve same for Wangye.

This was better than expected, by quite a bit too. The translation quality is kinda iffy at the start, but the translator quickly gets better. But even then it's not perfect, but it's still good, even when things are phrased strangely it's easy to figure out what the translator actually meant.

The storytelling is good as well, but it has a few jarring moments related to PoV switches, but it's generally fine.

Definitely worth reading again.

At first, I wasn't really sure if I wanna read it. Because the title is a little icky, and reading the reviews, there's a big age gap between the leads. But when I started reading it, the age gap is not so bad, since the father is still young in his early thirties and the OTP's chemistry is just really sweet.... more>>

Her first impression of him is that his father-in-law from her previous life is really young and handsome.

This is not a revenge story, so don't expect scheming from the FL. She didn't intend to marry the ML at first. The ML found her first, she was in a vulnerable situation and he took her away from it and gave her shelter in his mansion, intending to find her a good husband. She actually doesn't want to get married and intended to live as a single woman, maybe taking care of her grandmother from her previous life. In short, she got really traumatized by her previous life's marriage that she doesn't want to go through it again. But the ML is really different from his son. He is firm (his son is fickle). He is loyal. And they can have some good conversations between them. And she sometimes acts willful and coquettish infront of him and he doesn't think it's annoying. Like give me a Gu Hui Yan (ML) please, novel gods. I mean, he really does dotes on her in a healthy way. It's really sweet.

There's no scheming from the FL, the ML is a war hero but he is not cruel and does not unnecessarily kill people for revenge. But the antagonists gets their comeuppance as a result of their own schemes.

The former husband is really idealistic (like a sissy who wants a romantic love story and got easily fooled by other people) and this is what ruined his marriage. He gets easily influenced by the women around him who have their own selfish reasons (his mother's servants have been managing the estates without any masters and now there's a wife who wants to change things, and the shu sister who wants to be married to him). So they schemed against his wife by saying bad things about Gong Xi, and he never thought to sit with her properly and listen to her. He just thought she's always lying till she gets really sick and died. He really thought she's acting till he saw she really died. He felt really guilty and sad so when his wife's family suggested he marry the scheming shu sister, he really married her to make things right. I mean, how s*upid can you be. This is how his thought process in the whole novel. He realized he loves his 1st wife, so he's just indulging the 2nd wife without really feeling anything for her. His mother-in-law reminds him of his first wife and he's fallen for her, so he decided to distract himself by getting a concubine. After that he's still in love with her and found someone who looked like his 1st wife and made her his tongfang. I don't know if I should feel sorry for him. In the end, he lived alone with regrets about Gong Xi while his father and stepmother moved to their fief with their children.

It's a good novel from beginning to end. The biggest hurdle the OTP had is themselves.

The ML is very observant and found that she's his former daughter-in-law in that body and is in a conundrum, did she marry him because of his ex-husband? While she was wondering what he feels about her, did he marry her because her father saved his life, was he so inlove with his first wife?

They were able to get past these issues by being honest with each other and confessing, and with the help of a friend, she was able to get the whole picture and it's a really good ending with their children.

Regarding the age gap. Think of it as people nowadays usually marry really late in life, especially men. And he is only 33/34 when he married her, and she is 17. I'm really glad I read this. It's one of the best I've read. <<less
