ML : is so sweet so understanding and really acceptable.. Perfect male lead.

FL : she is also good but have little low self esteem. She did show confidence at front but at alone time to time she doubt about everyone liking her strong headed personality.

There are few misunderstanding between main characters but they will solve very quick. Even duration of misunderstanding main characters didn't change their behavior.

This is also 'slice of life's genre.

Interaction between main characters are more interesting. There were details about the court politics and details which I didn't read.

I absolutely loved this novel. The romance is neither slow nor fast. The revenge is not crazily vicious. FL's life doesn't merely consists of revenge. A bit of drama, family, romance and some wonderful insights on life. I want to thank the author and translator/s for their hard work they have put in this novel.

While some already mentioned about the satisfying face slapping events and the cute main couple, I'll simply add that it has been entertaining and enjoyable to read for a rebirth trope novel. As it taken from a historical setting, I'm glad that the story did not dwell deep into politic. So the story focused the protagonist journey as the stepmother of her ex-husband from her previous life. The pacing is not too fast nor slow. Just right.

The story emphasized how seniority, rank, lineage, achievement, background, and power, plays a huge role in the story and in marital life of the characters. Aside of that, the story tells the struggle in defining love. The conflict of marriage shaped from the upbringing, background, environment, and the people who 'involved' with them. These are well defined through the 2nd male lead marriage life conflicts as well as female lead's. On the other side, the main couple FL and ML, gives me a view that of a decent marriage life. FL's point of view throughout her scene with 2nd lead pair is used as a constant reminder and reflection toward marital breakdown. I thought that her point of view create an anticipation of her positive character growth and development.

The characters are quite well written, especially, the FL and 2nd ML. But, I feel that the author could do much more in developing the ML and 2nd FL, because there are some inconsistency in their actions which didn't match with their personality as the story goes on.

In conclusion, I have nothing much to say since some already said it on the review but I enjoyed reading about the protagonist journey and her healthy interaction with her spouse. <<less

I want a Yan Wang in my life 😭. God he's so doting and precious and and and—. Anyway, I honest didn't have big expectations about this story. If I were to be blunt, I dont have a good first impression after reading the synopsis but bec of the good ratings I took the chance.

I find the relationship between her ex husband and the ML as awkward. I'm biased with the ML so I kind of feel bad for him even though FL no longer cares about ex-hus. ML is... more>> always patient, attentive, doting, and always always extend his bottom line for our girly. Sometimes FL's stubbornness and temper irritate me but most of the time it's cute especially around ML. Sometimes she's impulsive and careless with her words but if you think about it and consider the situation she's in, I think it's understandable for her to act that way.

About her ex-hus, I'm actually quite conflicted. He has his faults, okay? But let's admit it, he grew up alone most of his life. Not literally but the parental guidance he's supposed to have during his teenage years is almost nothing. His mother is a delulu and always weeping. His father, ML, is always out bec of war and other campaign. The only person he can consider as his guardian is Bu Mama, this b*tch, which is super biased with his mother and so arrogant. Bu Mama can't provide proper guidance nor have the qualifications to teach him about things such as principles and stuff. That's why I think his childhood have a big influence with how he handled those situations. He admitted it too. I was actually hoping he'd be able to move on and have a good ending but it was an open ending for him.

Gao Ran, need I say more for this b*tch?

Overall I'm satisfied. I actually like the ML. So mature with a touch of innocence (not the seggsual way). I find it cute whenever he realized new hobbies and habits bec of FL. <<less

MC/Lin Wei Xi: She is a proud and genuine person with a sharp tongue. After her last life of having an unfortunate marriage she refuses to get married at all costs. It's only through being cornered by the FL that she decided to get married to Yan Wang. Throughout the beginning of her marriage she struggles to move past how her last marriage ended. There are times she looks at Yan Wang in suspicion that perhaps he will end up treating her the same way her last husband treated her... more>> but Yan Wang never does. Eventually his tender treatment of her opens her heart to him. Meanwhile, the FL schemes her way into a mess of her own making. Lin Wei Xi never actively plans for revenge.

ML/Yan Wang: He is warm and kind. At times he can be intimidating but only if Lin Wei Xi suffers from any ill treatment. He treats her very gently and pampers her. After being married to Lin Wei Xi he slowly becomes used to sharing a life with someone else. Before he never felt the need to come home but now with Lin Wei Xi he finds the joy of returning home to see her.

I feel like this whole novel is about moving on from the past. <<less

Omg words cannot describe how in love I am with this novel! I give 5 out of 5 stars for its everything! Love the plot, the characters etc. Actually I need more chapters in the extras!! I want to know more about their kids! Also I saw someone said what ML did was kinda unacceptable, but I believe that the ML has every right to do so

ML left the home to inspect some places (politics work) for I can't remember, maybe weeks or months after MC got pregnant then he almost missed their child's birth bcs MC gave birth prematurely maybe 2 months before due date. I mean.... I totally understand why he did that because what would you do when you know your wife was your daughter-in-law? of course the ML is going to think that MC is still in love with her ex husband, that's why she wants to be with him... to be near her ex husband like that. but I am sooooooo relieved that finally the misunderstanding is solved. They finally got the happiness they deserve to get.

Also I hate the stepsister so much... please like... know your place. you came from a lowly concubine who killed the main wife. and she even had the audacity to think everything is revolved around her??? yuckssss I hate people who do not know their place. urghh and not to mention that that white lotus is a transmigrated woman from the modern world who thinks they are better than ancient people. yucks...

Last but not least, I love the translator. They are sooooooo dedicated and consistent. I was there when the chapter was 30ish or 40ish and they never missed an update everyday! Thank you for giving us the opportunity to read this masterpiece! <<less

I really hope we can get more story about lin wei xi and gu hui yan. Thats just how much I love this story. The story itself is simple, no twist but its a good one. GHY character really match LWX character. And I love how LWX remind Gao Ran of her s*upidity and make her realize that she really is inferior to LWX

God I really loved this one.

In a lot of the ancient period novels people love to talk over the female lead, but in this one the MC is so honest, she is very straightforward.

There is some misunderstandings but the ML and the FL actually talk about then and end up solving the issue.

Great translations! Mature and sensible ML! Likeable and capable FL! The novel starts out slow, as usual with these sorts of novels, but picks up pace near the middle.

The translation quality is pretty good. There are typos here and there, but nothing that makes you misunderstand the plot or anything.

If you have a weekend to spare, I recommend picking this up!

This was a good novel. It was a POV of rival sibling of a transmigrated OG heroine novel. I love how the author shades some transmigrated adult heroines who tried to compete to smaller kids LMAO

I also like the interaction of FL and ML. Their age gap got its charm and added to their cuteness together.

Full of their own delusional ideas. They didn't even love each other but wanted a fairy tale romance. Well, it didn't end well unlike the OG plot bc Gao Ran's evil schemes was revealed and people around her woke up (even late)

Gao Ran was ungrateful and too arrogant to think that she's smarter as transmigrated modern person than ancient people... while Gu Cheng Yao was too immature and his wrong decisions/views led to late realizations

Don't expect heavy face slapping bc our MC didn't like evil schemes as long as she was not being disturbed. She's not revenge-driven (which I liked) and only wanted her family to be okay. The first 30ish chapters were so frustrating. It was so tit-for-tat I skimmed most of it. But when MC finally got married with ML, the story is finally interesting.

It's pretty light read. Lots of fluff. The right amount of face slapping. And MC was not too vindictive just a little too obsessive about her past, but I guess it was normal, since she died feeling wronged and unconvinced.

hmmm ive got to say the whole idea of become your ex's mother-in-law seemed so appealing and I really expected some fun moments. And indeed there were some moments that I saw myself smiling s*upidly at the MC's actions or what the ML said.

its a pleasant read not too bad or full of conspiracies or at least I think... the MTL quality is not bad but it was very frustrating to read as multiple times former chapters would repeat themselves constantly and others disappear. A lot of the times some... more>> major chapters. and when I say they repeat themselves I dont mean that-oh chapter 3 has been put out again after chapter 45, but that chapter 45 has the contents of chapter 3... idk if you get me so basically that way 'chapter 45' doesnt exist in the novel. that was not enjoyable.

also it says she didnt really take revenge but that would be a lie since she actually did cuz everyone ended up miserable. hmmm its not bad but I wouldnt want to read it again, not to mention the romance kinda disappointed me as I felt that her ex-husband was given more details and he's mood was shown more than the ML.... also I feel that after her rebirth there was some huge character chnge in the MC which did annoy me lol... anyways its a good read. <<less

I honestly dislike how much attention was given to the villains.

With the limited chapters given for the story, nearly 1/3 was given to other characters like our ex-ML and the man stealing sister Gao Ran. That’s too much in my opinion.

I wish there were more scenes between our FL and ML... they have chemistry, but it’s only hinted at. Scratched by a cat’s paw. Not enough. I craved more the entire time! ... more>>

I’d have loved this story more if Lin Wei Xi had stayed as Gao Xi and was able to just get divorced from the icky little ex-husband without having to suffer and freaking die. It would’ve felt even better that way when she got with her father in law

This is good but the translation is a bit blunt also the author didn't write an explanation how Yan Wang and his son know that Wei Xi is Gao Xi. I mean they were in ancient time and the idea of someone rebirth again is strange. How can they be so calm about that

And by the way I wish in another universe his son end up with Gao Xi

This novel was so good. Unlike many cliche transmigration novels, this was unique. The plot line was amazing and the flow of the novel was well balanced.

It was really nice reading how the ML indulged the MC, his very young wife. Further more, the MC had a strong backbone which was really refreshing unlike being bullied always under vicious schemes.

The title of the book was really eye catching and was kind of disgusting but made hopeful for the content at the same time. It was proved later that giving this... more>> book a chance was a good decision. <<less

This is a very very good story, but be aware of tags before reading.

I felt so much emotions while reading it. There was enough rod drama, but somehow it didn’t get bored and angry with it. There is a revenge and face-slapping.

I’m really very happy for MC to be able to find ML in the end. They are a good couple, and age is not the issue here, imho.

I quite like the attitude of the MC and I really enjoyed the relationship between her and the ML! It was also interesting reading a novel where the MC is reborn after her death as someone else not long after, rather than a long time skip of some sort.

Ok so, firstly its about 3.5 but I'll give it a 4.

The translation quality is... So-so, and that's mainly the reason for this rating.

I agree with someone who said that the MC was full of slip ups. Like, what normal lady from countryside, orphaned and neglected by her family would behave like she did, like a full fledged noble lady she was on her previous life.

... more>> I don't personally mind the age gap between them, its not like I never saw couples like that in my life, who were happy together.

The novel is also not that engaging (maybe because of the translation quality) I sometimes skipped some parts. At least it didn't drag and thus was an enjoyable read.

Overall, I don't dislike it and if you like, then go ahead and read it. It will not be a waste of time. <<less

Beautiful story.

They were really meant to be together, and all the karma was delivered timely and justly. The side characters were pretty plain and straight to the point, you could clearly see their ending from the very beginning, which is not a bad thing.

Really shows how the personality of a person, regardless of transmigration or not, would still not guarantee their success like in every other novel.

I thoroughly enjoyed the interactions between ML and FML, they were cute, romantic and peaceful unlike in other stories where there is so much... more>> drama and misunderstanding between the main couple that is tiresome, the author really pulled off the mature responsible older man with the stubborn, tsundere younger girl. <<less
