A high school student that has lived as a mob-character ―― Mimori Touka

During the school trip Touka and his classmates are summoned to another world by Goddess Vysis.

According to the goddess who summoned them, summoning so many heroes with high ranks such as S-ranks and A-ranks is very unusual. The growth rate of E-Rank heroes is lower when compared to growth rate of A-Ranked and S-Ranked heroes

However, Touka was the only person with the lowest rank ―― he was an E-rank hero.

His status is overwhelmingly low in comparison to his classmates. Moreover, Touka’s peculiar skill is supposed to be an absolute failure 【Abnormal State Skill】and therefore he was abandoned and thrown away into disposal ruins…

Thus the former mob-character and abandoned hero, will absolutely become the strongest as he advances and strike back.

Plot is so bad that average 5yo could write better (and that is mostly because writing nothing is better than this).

Basically a class is summoned by godness which is physical entity that thinks sacrificing weakest hero is good event to boost class morale.

This wn is honestly a good read lol...

At first I only thought of searching some random generic isekai wn and I suddently stumble upon this while scrolling my screen on this site. The cover is what lead me to read it xd. I was really suprised when I saw this novel with its 200+ chaps cuz wow its a lot even for a japanese isekai stuf. I scrolled down to the review after that and saw a one star rated comments at the top lol. I dont know what to... more>> say about that. Just dont judge this book from the reviews alone. The wn actually got funnier and edgier as you read it and yea there's some weird ass developement for some characters but Im hoping the author will fix it with some nice plot in the future.

Please dont say I have no taste in good novels lol cuz I have been reading wn's and ln's for almost 7 years so I know what's good and bad or its up to your own taste to judge whether its bad or not :v

People who like a character that is strategically 'genius' might actually like this wn cuz that's one of the MC trait which for examples he's manipulative when it comes to surviving while also being dependant on his abilty "paralyze" to have the upper hand on most of the battle's easily.

I rarely did a review before so I only type whatever came to my mind ;;;;;)

Please forgive me if there's any false information and anything's wrong with my comments.

Have a nice day ;) <<less

Half naked elf in the cover, obvious revenge plot in the description, harem tag, mention of "skill" in the title which implied overpowered character which usually makes stuff boring, so I kinda expected cliché isekai trásh, but eh... it's actually not that bad?

Though it is not perfect, it is cliché, edgy, and it's annoying how every women is half naked, or how every MC's companion is female, also it's annoying how author constantly changing perspective to other characters which I don't care very much. But the story telling itself is... more>> pretty good, it actually progress, and somehow manage to keep things relatively interesting, and MC isn't as annoying as I thought it would be, at least the fact that MC isn't dense, dumb, indecisive, belligerent, and h**ny is honestly shocking to me, in a good way. <<less

I really want to give it a higher rating. But I'm sorry I can't.

The main story starts with your usual trope of class summoning and subsequent disposal of MC because of his weak stats. Mimori Touka, the MC, was judged as an E-rank Hero and thrown into a dungeon with zero survival rate. However, he is able to survive thanks to his abnormal stats which were judged as the weakest and then he sets out to take revenge on the Goddess who ordered his disposal.

What sets this story apart from... more>> the usual Isekai tropes is the fact that MC isn't OP stats wise but his skills lie in using his brain to make situation turn in his favor to take down everyone with his abnormal stats. The dungeon with zero survival rate only helps him in grinding levels like crazy. This is quite refreshing from your usual trope of discarded MC growing OP as hell and throughout the chapters he keeps reminding himself that he might have grinded like crazy and may have gained thousands of levels, yet his stats are still inferior to other heroes (which surprisingly enough is correct, even when he is tens of times higher levelled than S-rank heroes; normally you would believe he must be stronger but his E-rank status ensures that his stats growth per level remains the lowest).

The MC is smart enough to prepare as many cards as possible to take down the Goddess and is shrewd enough to get people to act and take hold of situation just according to his plan. There are some intermission chapters in each volume (LN-wise) which gives the readers an idea about the situation happening with other classmates with multiple persons' PoV's. Overall, it is a good reading experience with likable MC.

So why low star rating? The fault doesn't lie much with the story but with the author himself. The only story-wise fault I can think of is that MC's actions become somewhat predictable as story progresses (especially his disguising action; he uses it so often that it becomes somewhat boring at times).

The major fault however is the author highly lacks the knowledge of word-building. He tries to drag stories long with his poor word building for no reason. The material covered in 200+ chapters can easily be covered in less than 90 chapters without losing any major scenes or dialogues (Thank God, its LN exist). The details which can be summarized in one line, will be broken down into multiple sentences and then repeated again and again till it covers half the chapter. Only then the story would progress. The author seems to only care to try to fill pages which results in snail's pace of story progression. He seems to appear like a kid who is given to write an essay of four pages but he doesn't know much about it so he breaks, repeats and rewrites in different ways over and over again just to fill pages. Thanks to this major fault, the story loses out an entire star worth of rating even though it is worth the read.

P.S: Since WNs are rough drafts and LNs are systematically written, I can guarantee after having read the LN that it is much better than the WN. It was officially licensed only last year so it will take time to catch upto current chapters but if you have enough patience, I'll suggest you to read its LN. <<less

The more I read, the less I'm enjoying it. The writer's progression is on a downward spiral. The initial setup was interesting. MC's struggle through the first arc was good. Meeting and traveling with his partners was nice, but as the story progresses, the characterizations of every villain in the world (including those among is classmates) is EXTREMELY ONE DIMENSIONAL.

It's like the author can't help but use every trope of villainy there is, and then dial it up to 11.

Oh this guy's an entitled prick? DIAL IT UP to 11,... more>> where he's just constantly talking about his king boat or whatever, lol. It's like there's nothing else propping up the villains besides what they rolled at the beginning of a game. It only gets worse from there. In the current arc, apparently all of the Calvary Squads are categorized by a single evil fetish or something. It's unintentionally hilarious. Oh this squad is into cannibalism. Can't wait to stick a fork into these demi-humans. Oh wait, this squad likes to kill young people. This squad wants to r*pe good looking demi-human girls. I mean, holy sh*t, if you're gonna bother trying to write villains, give it a little effort and nuance. Otherwise, why bother? Just say this is generic enemy squad 11 that needs to be defeated and be done with it. I guess the author feels the reader needs some sort of incentive to side with the MC and his friends, so the villains have to be the extremist form of every cliche of evil out there.

You would think that an author would get better in skill as they progress through a project, but this author is seriously getting worse. Almost feels like it's an Ai that was fed a bunch of anime and tasked to write a novel. I'll give it a little more as I was initially pretty invested, but now I'm finding myself just rolling my eyes. <<less

This is one of the most amazing novels I have read so far. The story starts at a slow pace but gradually gets interesting as the plot progresses. There are multiple points that make this novel unique.

1) First of all the MC is not a beta tr*sh character like so many other MCs in other isekai novels. He is a normal high school student.

2) The girls in this novel or should I say heroines in this novel are not easy woman. They didn't fall head over heels for MC after... more>> he saved them like seen in, so many other novels. There is romance here in this novel but the romance is medium paced. MC is also not a dense character that doesn't understand what the other party feels about him.

3) The story has good setting and edge in it that makes you wonder what will happen next even if you can guess what will happen.

4) Although MC is OP, he is not the strongest and MC knows that and acts accordingly and cleverly. MC only has limited amount of skills and he uses each of them cunningly and cleverly to defeat his opponents.

All This points considered this is a fairly decent revenge themed novel. <<less

I'm pretty terrified of this novel simply because there are waaaaaaaaaay too many bad guys! What's worse, more than half of them want to do bad stuff to the main heroine. I'm attached to her and the MC so I'm pretty much thinking of leaVing this alone until I get confirmation that the main heroine doesn't get sexually assaulted since I am easily traumatized by crap like that.

Other than that, I've been enjoying it so far.

The MC starts off as a very weak character, with only his cheat to count on.

Initially the author portrayed the MCs cheat as an extremely powerful ability, after which the author spends the entire storyline to nerfing the ability. Leveling up seems to be another core concept in this world, the MC in the beginning of the novel itself outstripped others by having level many thousands higher than other characters in the novel. But still he is portrayed as having close to zero combat ability other than his cheat, its... more>> like the levels doesnt mean squat. Until where I read (4th volume), he seems to portrayed as having the weakest combat ability out of everyone (NPCs and mobs included) in this novel (even though his level has more zeroes than them).

Now for the good parts, the MC is not wimpy, on the contrary he is kinda smart, calm and collected, who uses everything at his disposal to achieve his goals. Other characters seems a bit dull (other than the bad guys), they seem to have low willpower of their own. The storyline is pretty decent until now, and world building is quite good. The MCs motivation of revenge is one of the capturing points of the novel. <<less

It's generic revenge isekai. My main gripe is that the writer gave no effort at all when making the villain. Completely unlikeable. Stories like these are the worst because when you finally beat the villain that's OP for no reason, you as the reader have gone tens of chapters of ab*se, effectively sucking up all the satisfaction that might've been had.

It's a pretty decent novel. Wouldn't say it deserves its place so high in the rankings but it's interesting. The novel does get better the more you read it, especially after the MC gets out of Mills. For your information, the MC does acquire more skills as the novel progresses, he isn't just going to paralyse sleep poison the whole time. Like most popular revenge stories, the MC is ruthless towards everyone but he seems to be soft-hearted when dealing with people that remind him of the kindness his uncle... more>> and aunt gave him, or when he can deeply relate with them. MC does seem to deny it but its probably just his so-called split personality leaking in, I mean no normal person can truly perfectly maintain two separate identities after all. Anyway, give a chance until you've read to the same point I have. You won't have to read as much as Overgeared for it to get interesting at least. The novel is pretty interesting from the start. Oh and one last thing, the antagonists in this story are ridiculously twisted, it's the kind of character that I hate seeing the most since it's annoying reading about their actions and having no consequences resulting from it. <<less

to be honest it was good novel you know. Well putting aside his abnormal skill that made everything looks easy but the truth the skill itself has its own requirement.

it was good when he began to rely on seras, even though their romance development was slow but it was not bad. For now MC still too dense because his revenge.

Overall plot is decent, but not very well written. The wording is a minus. Also the way how the author tells the combat and plotting from the MC kind of makes me feel like reading Tomodachi game, kind of running around, making come back over and over again. And it has been like this for a lot of the time. So while it is a good read at first, the story kind of gets a bit fell off later on. Still if you want then you can definitely try yourself

Well. After seeing the diversity of ratings, I decided to dive in and read the novels for myself. What I can say is that the comparisons to Arifureta are somewhat unfounded.

Both novels start with a similar premise of a weak hero being dumped and forced to grow through his own willpower and effort. But that's about it. While Arifureta takes a more light-hearted/chuuni tone from Volume 2 onwards, Failure Frame so far has been strictly fantasy. I do have some issues with the plotting, especially the end of Volume 2

The part where he flips the tables on the supposedly "strongest man in the world" and kills him like any other opponent all while using the same skills as before. I felt that it would have been better for Civit to survive and become a stronger adversary in the future for the MC.

Still, I reckon there are a lot of positives - the world building has been done pretty well, with a decent setup for most of the supporting characters. Unlike a few other LNs I've read, they aren't all constantly thinking about the MC and his absence. Rather, they feel like actual characters with their own motivations and struggles. The endgoal of the Big Bad hasn't been revealed either and in fact, the whole story progresses at a very gradual pace. Some main players have been revealed, but the author seems to have left decent enough space to add more.

Edit at WN c200 - This is definitely an impressive effort. I like the fact that the other heroes besides the MC aren't mere tr*sh. They're trying to survive on their and they're experiencing growth too. The MC isn't an Edgelord either and actually shows a decent amount of maturity. No Harem either <<less

I give this five stars. First, I don't expect to be this satisfying, since it starts very slow and many scene I think can be skipped for first 40 chapters.

MC: This is the best imaginable MC I've ever read in isekai genre manga. He is very likable, he is friendly to those who has no bad intention, compassionate, very kind, and empathic. MC is very smart, very adaptable, and has quick and right judgment towards stressful situation. The best thing, is that MC is... more>> not naïve, He know the best human's nature, he doubt everything, even himself, he is not forgiving towards human who already fall to worst being, he knows how to do justice, since he has the best unique overpowered abnormal skill, the justice is indeed quite satisfying. He is not s*upid in love also, He is aware that the heroine have feeling towards him, and he is not ignorant about that. Lastly, He know himself, He is aware exist two personality in him that is kind characters, and thirst towards bloodshed of revenge, it makes him doesn't fall towards chaotic characters. He is not someone who search for power and fame, there are no greed, lust in him, he know that his path to revenge is not heroic path and not what "adult" expect to solve problem, but this is the path he need to take, he is aware that decision he took.

For other characters are kinda 1-dimensional, means that their nature is easily known from its surface, except for 2 mysterious characters (Takao Hijiri and Ikusaba Asagi) that we do not know their intention. So there are not that many complex characters, hence it is easily either very tr*sh characters that needs go to endless hell, and kind-naive characters.

Overall, we have two perspective on the story line, with some additional perspective, first MC perspective (80% of the story), second Class Rep (Sogou Ayaka) perspective. Sogou Ayaka perspective is indeed very frustating to read, since she is naive, that she easily trusted tr*sh characters, but since this is same author who write MC, I trust him that this will led to very conflicting problem in the future that MC will face. Other perspective just to make the story rich, and satisfying delivery, not to make us be empathy to other characters, so it doesn't matter apart from MC perspective and sogou ayaka perspective.

The story itself is quite straightforward and simple, nothing complex, and hidden meaning, it's generic isekai. What makes it best is the MC. <<less

In response to Jack Hoang One Star review: There is a reason the goddess killed the demon wolf in front of them in the cruelest way possible. It was to put FEAR into their hearts so her following action of sacrificing the MC would go through with little opposition because the other low ranks feared "They would be next" so they said nothing; That's ignoring the Asshat "I'm a A-rank" delusional heroes who were basically cheering for his death.

On to the actual review.

It's alright story that's been done before that... more>> only really shines via the characters the MC meets and their interactions NOT his so called "classmates".

The few A-rank heroes besides two of them are all asshats, and that actively hurts my review because they're too unrealistically arrogant.

The low rank classmates are almost all completely extra/fodder characters with little to no lines just their to die so another character can get character development or a power up.

The real character development starts when the MC begins to meet his long-term party members. All of them are well flushed out in terms of personality, backstory, and their motivations. I really wish the author wrote all the characters the way he wrote the MC's companions because the "low-rank" classmates I don't feel anything for them when they get used as cannon fodder.

Let's see "The world building is 6/10 it's there, but only really flushed out when necessary.

overall a decent read if you can survive the 15-20ish opening chapters the asshat "A-ranks" <<less

Another promising start ruined by author later on in the story. The MC becomes scum. The author ruins a few great characters just to add drama.

Loathsome antagonists lingering on that you want to die is a bit annoying but as long as they get it in the end I suppose that's a bit part of revenge stories.

The MC goes overboard on the dark side and some genuinely great characters are ruined by this author's obsession with corrupting the innocent.
