In a certain League of Legends (LOL) match, a streamer well-known for infuriating people, was providing commentary and live streaming.

Streamer: This support, so tr*sh.

Streamer: If this jungler was my teammate, I’d already be idling at the fountain, playing piano for him.

Streamer: I suggest this player go back and practice last-hitting properly.

Audience: Stop talking crap! If you’re so good, why don’t you do it?

Streamer: Your daddy here can actually do it.

Audience: Yeah, sure. If you’re that good, I’ll chop my head off and let you kick it around.

A few months later, the veteran LPL team TTC announced their new mid-laner. A boy with flamboyant blue hair appeared in front of the audience. His Zed gameplay was so astonishing that whoever he faced ended up dead. Female fans teetered on the edge of betrayal, tempted to switch their loyalties.

During a post-match MVP interview, everyone held their breath, eagerly watching this talented newcomer.

The young man took the microphone, smiled, and asked, “To the water friend with the StarTV username ‘Suburb King 101,’ my team’s address is on the official website, when will you be mailing your head over?”

After one regular-season game, the staff went backstage to fetch the team for an interview, only to stumble upon TTC’s new mid-laner and their jungler standing in a corner.

TTC’s star jungler, Road, was pressing the team’s new mid-laner, Soft, against the wall. Leaning in close, he asked in a low voice: “You know what to say during the interview, right?”

The fiery mid-laner, who had cemented his tr*sh-talker reputation in his very first game, was currently blushing furiously.

“I know. I won’t tr*sh-talk… I swear I won’t.”

Not worth a re-read. Refreshing if you haven't read any other from a similar genre but if you have then this will probably not stand out much. I loved it the first time I read so I'll give it 3 star review but it couldn't hold my attention the second time and not because I already knew what's going to happen contrary to what you might expect, it was because I didnt know what's gonna happen cause I'd already forgotten but the happening next were kind of a let down.... more>> I'm not going to say what let me down cause it might not be a bad thing to others. So if you like esports a slow burn you can try it. <<less

This is my comfort novel, so any review I write will be heavily biased so am not even going to pretend to be neutral, lol! Imo this novel has a great balance between romance and gameplay and a very good choice if you are just getting into e-sports genre. Mc/ML chemistry is of course to die for but what made this novel first stand out for me is the dynamic btwn MC and his fans (!!).

After finishing this novel, I hunt down author's other works and went on a reading... more>> spree and I must say, one of the best month of my life :') <<less

I LOVE IT SO MUCH

The mm relationship is not forced and the e-sport genre is just a highlight of story too that you'll anticipate.

The x parts are not too vulgar? To me. It's censored.

I love this novel to finish it in a week. It's good paced and not too much dramatic. Light hearted which is such a great read.

i am a fan of Jiang Zi Bei's novels, so why did I give this only 3 ⭐ you may ask? Well, because even though I liked it very much it felt lacking somehow. Not the plot, because it was for me pretty well rounded, but the romance. The beginning is pretty much the idol/fan trope and that's cute, but even after they got together it didn't change much. Our MC has a foul mouth and isn't afraid of taunting others at all, and thats kinda funny at the beginning... more>> but its gets very old very quick. Even by the end of the novel we didn't got any real development in his personality and he was especially mean to Xiao Bai wich was so annoying honestly (i lub xiao bai I lub u and pine so much I cant even say how much, I wish u guys were the main cp wuwuwuwu).

the romance and fluff was very mild and I personally didn't really rocked with it. I am a very hopeless romantic type of person so I want to see my main couple being lovey dovey all the time whenever they can and the fact that we got more scenes of them queueing together than we got of them actually being together made me roll my eyes sometimes. It is an eSports and I get that [also love that~] but it needs balance! I dont care about LOL that much lmao. Gimme me some romance to balance it out, please and thank you.

anyway, this novel also proved to me that im not really into 'being mean all the time' MCs. I mean, it was funny at the beginning but our MC was way too mean and it did not got better even by the end of the novel. Almost zero character development. Xiao bai did not deserved some of the things MC said to him. Also the xenofobia? Was weird. Anyway yeah, it was a good read overall and ML is a cutie with a badboy air about him but MC could work a little bit on his temper. Also, ive seen some people commenting on the age gap thing but its not that bad really, ML is pretty respectful and he basically only realize his feelings for MC after hes an adult. So its not like he's g*ooming a minor or is trying to seduce him. He's pretty respectful and only acts once he kinda knows MC also likes him more than a fan would like his idol. Its cute, not weird or predatory. Idk what people are on about in some of the reviews. Overall: its enjoyable, ive liked it but would not re-read because the romance lacks somewhat, MC irked me sometimes and we got way too much into the LOL-universe (its like the author forgot this was supposed to be a BL along with a e-sports novel) <<less

This was a super fun read. The story in itself was really cute, I love how Jian Rong despite being such a badass, naughty boy, and OP af who absolutely gives no shit, BUT is such a fanboy and becomes SO obedient when it comes to Lu Bouyan. The contrast is so cute, and their relationship as it develops is soooo lovely. I also love how Lu Bouyan dotes on him and spoils him, it's just a fluffy AND EPIC (coz of the games) love story.

P.S. Side chapters with Xiao... more>> Bai and Pine are *chefs kiss* super cute too.

P.P.S.

Reading this novel really made me want get back in to League of Legends, actually made me research the League World Championships and found out from 10 years ago that the attendance BROKE RECORD each time - which made reading this book so epic for me.

P.P.P.S

The translator and editor did SUCH an amazing job. One of the best fan translation work I've seen, closest to professional level. I hope they get more support and love they deserve. <<less

It was really cute. First I was kinda skeptical because there was so many chapters, and well now I just wish there were more extras. Honestly so much fun. I laughed a lot... would absolutely recommend and read again.

Binge read all at once. As someone who enjoys watching LoL pro-play in all four major regions, this was pretty fun to read and the main pair is pretty cute. The ML is 4 (5?) years older than MC (who turns 18 w/in first half of novel) as an FYI, but their relationship seemed healthy.

The author did such a good job with storytelling and characterization, and I will probably reread this multiple times in the future. I really liked how distinct everyone felt, from the main team, to the commentators,... more>> to some of the fans. I did skip a few scenes that made me feel secondhand embarrassment, but ultimately I had a great time reading this, and I hope people who try reading this will enjoy it as well.

My thoughts as a LoL watcher below, with story spoilers:

Spoiler

I've been watching professional LoL for two years now, and having a lot of background knowledge on the game and the format really helped me understand the story, but the translator linked also did such a good job providing context for anyone who is new to this area. I also speak Mandarin, which helped as well, but again the translator was superb.

Honestly I'm a bit sad that the main story ended after MSI, since I would've enjoyed reading more about their Summer season and Worlds (considering Summer season ended early-mid September and we're into quarterfinals week for Worlds 2024), but it made sense as a stopping point and I enjoyed the extras. Soft debuting in spring and achieving the golden road (winning spring regionals, MSI, summer regionals, Worlds) is such a power move. To my knowledge, I don't think any team has achieved the golden road, although LPL's JDG came really close last year, ultimately placing 3rd in Worlds after winning their first three tournaments. (I just wanted to read more about this cute couple).

I was also pretty aghast with some of the fictional LCK players that were some of the antagonists in the story -- I really hope that they aren't inspired by real LCK players.

Love it! LBY and JR relationship is too cute and fluffy, I'm glad they got together atleast in the 3rd half of the novel and showed enough sweets to the fans. Interaction between fans and Soft are so good too, and the barrage/npc isn't overwhelming just enough for comedic scenes!

I love how Soft just constantly digs his own pit in front of Road, and Road unconsciously just spoils him. I enjoy Soft's sharp tongue and insults, this is how you troll properly!

If you are looking for a novel that focused on e-sport and professional gaming with a side of romance then this is for you.

To started, I am not familiar with League of legend (LoL) but the author describes all the skills and moves well. Every battles are easily imagined but... too predictable.

For the MC, he has a foul mouthed attitude (I can relate LMAO) but owns up to what he says. His skills in the game are like a GOD or a genius. Even he tr*shed talk 80% of the... more>> novel, I think his tr*sh-talk is cute, not like a brat or cringe way. Yea I understand that the way he talk seems very rude but everyone around him is fine with it. I did not find that to be rude but more like casual talking around people that he comfortable with.

The ML is like typical cool and all rounder ML. The only thing that is special about him was his open-minded about homos*xual relationships. He educated the MC about that topic. He also very soft towards the MC. From admiring MC’s skills to adored MC. ML’s feelings are naturally developed.

CP was not forced at all, more like a slow-burn teammates relationship. The author wrote the CP pretty well in my opinion.

I gave this a 4/5 for the characters and storyline. -1 cause of the xenophobia (it just feels odd and real that I personally seen before).

P/s: I do not want to talk about this but most of the Chinese novels that I read kinda included xenophobia... I don’t understand why authors keep putting xenophobia in their works... <<less

The highlight from this story is pure comedy. The writer is VERY HUMOROUS. However, when it comes to the game, it's narrated so boringly and confusingly, I always skip it because they'll win anyway... and that's the problem. The MC's romance is more of the highlight than sports for me.

The upside of this is that MC's personality is unique, you might say a breath of fresh air. The third party barrage is hilarious, and the side characters are decent enough.

A similar one to this is 'FOG', but 'I can Do... more>> It' is much more tasteful. I love both of the translators though (They are good with translating Chinese comedy to English equivalent). If you want a good fluffy E-sport romance where the MC and his fans are just as entertaining is 'You Boys Play Games Very Well' (Though the translator DIRECTLY translates the Chinese comedy which isn't funny, but you'll still chuckle from time to time). <<less

4/5 definitely enjoy reading them, the only thing I didn't like is the xenophobia part. All the important Korean character written to be in bad personality except savior. And they were many subtle part that feels kinda racist? Like the simida? I don't why other reviewer wouldn't want to admit that part. I finish reading the novel while automatically filtering this part.

Cute and fluffy. It's a really good balance between romance, relationships, and gaming. None of the gaming scenes come across as dry or boring.

I love the MC. His interactions with others, especially online, are great, and it's nice to see that, although he comes across as harsh and mean, his fans know that's just how he interacts with them. His character is written really well, so you know he isn't just an arrogant kid that is mean for no reason. He criticises only where it is due and doesn't take... more>> things too far.

The ML is very doting, but not in an over the top way. It's obvious, but it also comes across as subtle.

I'm not sure about the "ML falls in love first" tag. I think they both went through a journey of discovering emotions and the ML realised his own feelings sooner, but I don't think that means he fell in love first - he just acknowledged his feelings sooner. If anything, I think the mc's feelings are blurred earlier than the ml's, it's just that it took him longer to realise it due to his deep admiration and fanaticism for the ml.

Overall, a really good read and a great esports novel for those who want romance and gaming! <<less

... The best novel I have ever read. I find it super hard to complete novels, this is the only one I’ve ever had the will power to keep reading. It seriously get’s you hooked As for the development it’s a medium pace? but so much happens in between that you’re just excited for them to talk to each other. plot is about what you’d expect from a esports novel but it’s somehow different to anything else I’ve read.

Everything is really nicely explained so no gamer knowledge is needed. Overall... more>> I’m going to rate it a, wish I could loose my memory so that I could read this for the first time again out of 10.

tr*shtalking nd good flaming is what makes this novel good 4 me. 1 hater 2 another, this dumbass novel is pretty good.

love how funny and entertaining this e-sports novel was. All thanks to the protagonist who is a such an op tr*shtalker/flamer. Im a fake gamer and suck at competitive gaming, so I didnt reaaallyyy care abt the flow of the game that much tbh but the way the author wrote was definitely hype worthy and I had fun when it came to their matches.

the intra and inter team dynamics... more>> were really fun esp with the typical stressed out manager bc of how handful they are trope. I love good team rivalry and banter equivalent inner conflicts. Tho the focus really isnt that much on inter team dynamics, it's more on the relationship nd a bit on gaming which was expected for a light e-sports romance read but I can complain. Im a soft fan anyway.

i liked soft's dad fans, they were like their grandfather indeed, absolutely hilarious. And soft's influence on saviour (whos probably one my fave characters) was pretty great I loved their moments. Soft corrupting saviour was the highlight 4 me, wish the author focused more on those aspects more. Would have loved if these kind of dynamics were explored more.

i also wish the author could have done some things differently, the xenophobia was kind of annoying and uncomfortable. Esp the last arc, the xenophobic elements made some plot points really s*upid. Which makes u side eye the author bc the things were going pretty well then the unnecessary xenophobia kicks in :/

4.5 stars rounded up to 4 bc it was a fun novel nd its been a while since ive read a contemporary novel so idk what my evaluation criteria is for a contemporary read. <<less

Although this book frequently gives me secondhand embarrassment, it also didn't fail on giving me butterflies and excitement. I think what sets it apart from others (especially the ones who are in the same genre as this) is how the author excellently describes what 'youth romance' is. Yes, MC is young. Yes, he should be unfamiliar and curious about stuff (like romance), and yes, it is normal!

Interactions between teammates, fans, and also the whole LPL industry are truly hilarious.

Also a major warning - like almost all E-sports novels out there,... more>> this one also had that sprinkle of toxic nationalism and stuff, but other than that, there are no complaints about this book.

In the end, I gave this a pleasant 4.5 stars. <<less
