I Can Do It

In a certain League of Legends (LOL) match, a streamer well-known for infuriating people, was providing commentary and live streaming.

Streamer: This support, so tr*sh.

Streamer: If this jungler was my teammate, I’d already be idling at the fountain, playing piano for him.

Streamer: I suggest this player go back and practice last-hitting properly.

Audience: Stop talking crap! If you’re so good, why don’t you do it?

Streamer: Your daddy here can actually do it.

Audience: Yeah, sure. If you’re that good, I’ll chop my head off and let you kick it around.

A few months later, the veteran LPL team TTC announced their new mid-laner. A boy with flamboyant blue hair appeared in front of the audience. His Zed gameplay was so astonishing that whoever he faced ended up dead. Female fans teetered on the edge of betrayal, tempted to switch their loyalties.

During a post-match MVP interview, everyone held their breath, eagerly watching this talented newcomer.

The young man took the microphone, smiled, and asked, “To the water friend with the StarTV username ‘Suburb King 101,’ my team’s address is on the official website, when will you be mailing your head over?”

After one regular-season game, the staff went backstage to fetch the team for an interview, only to stumble upon TTC’s new mid-laner and their jungler standing in a corner.

TTC’s star jungler, Road, was pressing the team’s new mid-laner, Soft, against the wall. Leaning in close, he asked in a low voice: “You know what to say during the interview, right?”

The fiery mid-laner, who had cemented his tr*sh-talker reputation in his very first game, was currently blushing furiously.

“I know. I won’t tr*sh-talk… I swear I won’t.”

The writing is good and the plot flows at a decent pace. It strikes a nice balance between the plot and the gaming scenes. I really liked the characters’ personalities and the fight Jian Rong had in him.

The translation is also fantastic - well done, easy to read, and footnotes for the terms - so that really added to the enjoyment.

I dropped one star because, for me, it didn’t seem like there was anything that made it anything too different from other gaming BL novels. Also, the dropped mark takes... more>> the xenophobia into account. I know these kinds of gaming stories always like to include a Korean/Chinese rivalry which is fine and often adds to the story, but at some parts (not all), rather than competitive jabs it seemed to go too far passed that into the realm of offensive and xenophobic that at times made me feel quite uncomfortable. <<less

Drama free romance in e-sport environment. No nonsense bl with pretty mature characters for their age and supportive environment in general. Soft was a dumbass darling and Road a very likeable gong. Kudos for the translators for their effort put into this.

light of my life, fire of my loins.

love love love! I cannot express my love for this novel, it has everything! Banter! Fluff! Esports! Decent papapa! for those afraid of the LoL terminology and teary f whether you'll be drowned in all those game-y aspects, fear not - the translator does a great job in explaining it at the footnotes and the author has a way of writing awesome game scenes that even if you're not a least bit interested in LoL (like me, a DOTA 2 player LOL) you'll... more>> be able still be invested,

finishing this web novel makes me feel so empty (in a good way? Bad way?) inside - I already miss my dumbass darling Soff and God Lu - it is hard being a dad fan. <<less

Best e-sports novel I’ve read so far.

Second re-read!

Excellent use of the barrage and in chat gaming/texting/social platforms to communicate the story. The exchanges are so witty and funny and just badass (xD)

Some realistic ups and downs, generally feel good tropes done very well. The ‘coaxing’ and the grumpy boy giving in and learning/growing is a joy to read.

Spoiler

the “pause?” was so good!!

Good to have some basic understanding of tower pushing games to appreciate it even more. But the way it’s written, you can still get into it even without that knowledge.

Very good stuff. <<less

hmmm.. Well 🤣 I had fun reading this novel.. Actually it took me awhile to realise that their romance was indeed slow burn, but if you think about it, it makes sun. There's no such thing as "Love at first sight" but the admiration was there so it didn't look like it was force when both CP realized that they really like their respective Partners.

That arc with Little Orange, that really touched my heart.

It's not my first time to read a story like this so I kind of enjoy... more>> it, so I hope other readers would enjoy reading this novel too. Thank you! - RottenApple (my username, dumbAss! 😎) <<less

Its pretty cute and funny story. I love the bantering between the MC and his fans. The plot has a nice gradual building up and its straight foward. The relationship between MC and ML is so cute!

If you ever watched "Falling into your Smile", the plot is similar to that drama, except its not a straight couple.

This was quite fun. It's a esports webnovel. The strength of this webnovel is the main romance, specifically, the main character. He is SO. CUTE. I loved how much of a tsundere he is. Story-wise, it was rather average. I've only read a couple of esports stories but they are all very similar. Anyway, the fluff and the romcom shenanigans makes this book worth it (although I did lose interest a bit by the end...)

Super cute and fun story.

loved the comedy of it. Both the ML and MC are super likeable and their romance is cute too.

if there’s any dissatisfaction I have, that’s the name calling of countries.

although I understand it made the novel very realistic and all, I still prefer novels where the authors use either fake countries or different universes instead. But it’s just my opinion and I still loved the story nevertheless.

this was my second time reading it and still loved it as the first time

If you like gaming and boys love, read I Can Do It. You will not be disappointed. I love this book sooo much. I’m so sad it’s over and I wish it was longer! ICDI is hilarious and I love the shou/MC. MC and ML are a match made in heaven. ROADSOFT FOREVER! To me, the game portion is exciting. It makes me want to play LoL. I tried, but alas I shall remain just a pitiful-but-poisonous-mouth Soft Dad Fan 😂. (Readers will understand this reference LOL.)

*Marked down 1 star for anti-Korean sentiments & unfair portrayal of RIOT games*

Why read this novel: I love this novel. Hands-down one of the best novels e-sports novels that has been fully translated. Jian Rong’s (MC) acerbic comments gave me chapter after chapter of laughs and Lu Boyuan’s (ML) interactions with JR were so precious. The plot was really captivating and JR’s background as a streamer was something fresh and had set this novel apart from the other esports novels. I would highly recommend reading this novel if you haven’t... more>> !!

It’s also very non-gamer friendly and I would say that the gaming aspects of the novel were very well written and translated. So much so that I believe even non-gamers wouldn’t miss out and be able to ‘feel’ the atmosphere during the competition. I didn’t find it a bore to read the competition pick and bans and how the matches went also.

What I didn’t like: Vilifying descriptions along national lines.

Yes, I understand that any team from any nationality could’ve been the villain, and the need for dramatisation since it is a novel. But you really can’t excuse the fact that the author explicitly wrote how the referees and organisers had been biased simply because they were Koreans and the matches were held ‘on home-ground’. Other insinuations that Chinese teams were not being treated well by the organisers were also off-putting. As someone who watches league games, this is sad to see. Anything goes in fictional world, but the gross portrayal of RIOT games as impartial organisers is demeaning to the work that they have shown the audience the past few years. Have some respect for the game that you are premising your story on. (Side note: If anything, Tencent now owns RIOT games so you can guess who the organisers are likely to side)

To those who say that anti-Korean sentiments are justified because so-so also wrote anti-so-and-so views in some other novel: Having another novel writing xenophobic stuff doesn’t make what the author wrote in this novel not xenophobic.

I can do it? Yes, this novel can do better.

The anti-Korean sentiments written doesn’t diminish the good work put out by the author and translation team but it’s not right to excuse what they wrote as well. <<less

Rating: 4/5- As usual from this author, an enjoyable, fun loving read.

I liked the characters and the story had a good pace. Personally didn’t like it as much as the other two books by this author but I was able to read until the end and it wasn’t bad.

I'm bad at reviewing, I've never doin' it before.

If I rate based on the storyline, I give 5 stars. If it's based the MC I give 6 start (lol).

of all the types of E-sport novels I've read. I can said this nvl realy make me reread even if the ch. Not completely yet. And now it's complete, I'll reread again (lol).

... more>> especially behavior the MC. His meaning name's "soft" but his tr*sh talking, lol. So funny and hilarious. HAHAHAHA I love his mouth so much.

and I see, a lot people giving four stars down is related to Xenophobhia issues (did I spelled correctly?). I don't rl like that part either too. If the author provides an unknown or disguised identity (like country M or Y for example), it probably won't be a problem. But unfortunately the author really refers to Korean e-sport.

but in this novel the author also does not refer to all korean E-sport. We've good too.

relationship between ML and MC. I can't say it's slow-burn but also can't say too fast. Normal development like in real world. (Perhaps when compared to other novels, this is indeed slow-burning because they've been together in ch. 100 more //if I nt forget 😂//). But don't worry they interact always interest and sweet even if before together.

not just them. Everyone too~ their interact can make you Laugh so hard until rolled on the floor. The stream comments/ soft parental fans really make me wanna join a part of them too.

Thanks you so much to the translator and uploader! <<less

This was very cute I loved it and would recommend if you want something light with a relatively strong couple and outside stimuli only that doesn't affect the relationship. Also loved the side CP in the extras.

Really cute e-sports novel!! It's so fun I read it twice already with only a week between readings because I missed the characters so much lol

Thanks to the author and translators the LOL game terms were easy to understand and follow, although it isn't my first e-sports novel (currently following Glory, yo), the novel felt really fresh bc LOL is an actual game that I knew due to my brother and because I played a couple of rounds but got my ass beat by a smurfing Renekton QAQ anyways!... more>> I really liked the novel but I think my favorite thing besides the main relationship, which was super adorable, was the relationship between Soft and his fans!! They were really cute and really had that feel of a small community that cared for their content creator.

I feel like I have to mention the xenophobia many have talked about because it might ruin the novel for some people, personally, it didn't for me because I felt like the author wasn't really hating on Koreans as much as she was creating a villain that is Korean but I think she focused too much on the fact that they were Korean and like made that part of the reason as to why they were like that if that makes sense? But I think the reason it can be saved is that it was only one team and not like all Korean characters or players. Either way, give the novel a chance and make the choice for yourself!! The novel is really good otherwise and the characters are well written, and of course, the translators did a great job!!! <<less

This is my first review I write in novelupdate.. I really really really love this novel. I like how the story progress! ≪3

I also like the MC, he's really not the type of weak soft MC, he's the type that 'if I want it I will get it'.. There're also a lot of comedy and secondhand embarrassment in this novel. I will read it again after a very long time.. ≪3

One of the very best novel I read. The translator did a good job and the author is so amazing. It was so worth the wait as I decided to finish the translations first before I proceed into reading it. The effort done into this is chef kiss. Both the translators and Author are so badass (Jian Rong's words)

I dont want to put some spoilers here. I just want everyone to go and read it. Its super worth it. You dont even need to worry about the game mechanics... more>> and terms. The translator did a good job into explaining it so everyone can enjoy it no matter what. The plot is nearly realistic too especially in the e-sport world. The characters are beautifully written. To the point that even side characters are not merely a design. Each of them has a role in the novel. Its super obvious that the author poured their best into creating this novel. So what are you waiting for? GO AND READ IT!!!

Lu Boyuan X Jian Rong 💓💓💓💓 This main CP is so badass

Jian Yusong (Pine) X Zhang YiBai (Xiao Bai) 💓💓💓 This side CP was so cute. <<less
