I Possessed a Villainess in a Constellation Novel, But the S-Class Companions Are Obsessed with Me

I possessed a lowly villainess in a constellation novel who caused all sorts of trouble and ended up being abandoned by her companions.

…But what is this?

There’s a community window right in front of my eyes!

Nyangcheol(catxxx): Wow, it’s finally here. Episode 1 is out.

Owen(dowxxx): I’ve read the original before the remake. Don’t bother reading it, it’s a waste of time. Plus, the villainess’s personality sucks.

RedHairAllergy(jotxxx): 3333 Agreed, Wendy is such a nuisance. I don’t know what the author was thinking when they created her.

.

.

.

Hundreds… No, thousands of comment windows appeared before me.

Most of the comments were criticizing me, the villainess.

But of all things, why do the readers who despise me have to be my constellations?

At this rate, I’m going to end up with nothing left, not even a bone to pick up.

So, I decided to start by changing the hearts of the readers.

“If one person goes up there, everyone else can safely get out of the dungeon while that person becomes the target.”

In times like this, sacrifice is the way to go. I pointed at the crimson magic circle beneath the cage where the phoenix was trapped.

“I’ll do it.”

Alright, this should make everyone feel sympathetic towards Wendy, right?

But what’s this? I was just trying to gain some favor…

“You’re going to stay behind again, huh? As if our feelings don’t matter at all.”

“I can’t leave you behind and walk away any longer.”

“You told us to live for ourselves, so why are you choosing the path of death?”

Somehow, my companions started becoming more obsessed with me than the readers.

“This time, let’s put on some handcuffs. So you can’t just run away on your own again, Sis.”

Even the original female lead?

What’s wrong with everyone! I just wanted to survive!

This reads like an omniscient reader's point-of-view fanfic, but the genre has shifted to romance.

The setting is practically the same, as are the protagonist's powers, the way the constellations were introduced and used in the story. And the characters have basically the same personalities, from villains to extras.

However, everything is more superficial and simplified, and a bit cringe-inducing when you've already read the original and know where the inspiration came from.

If I had never read ORPOV, I would probably enjoy it as a romance with some action in a dystopian... more>> setting, but now I can't get attached to the characters or the story, which are just generic copies of the characters I learned to love in ORPOV.

If you're interested in this novel, I recommend reading ORPOV. Although the romance is practically nonexistent, the characters are well-written and you truly become attached to each of them and root for them. The bonds between the characters are deeper, and the plot and world are more complex and interesting.

If you've already read ORPOV, you might like this simple romance *coff* copy *coff* version, but don't expect the same depth.

Just some of the "Similarities" - Spoilers

Characters:

Spoiler

The protagonist has the same power to "copy" abilities, albeit in a more comical way. She's a more comical, less intelligent version of Kim Dokja, the protagonist of ORPOV. Which Pains me to see since I'd really like to see well written Female Protagonista.

Children: The children have different powers but basically the same personality, including their jealousy of each other and the protagonist.

Yeriel and Sangah: Yeriel here is Sangah there, except more saintly.

ML: I haven't even read this yet, but I'm 70% sure he's a regressor, because he's a watered-down, more sentimental version of Yoo Joonghyuk, who has a somewhat complicated bromance with Kim Dokja.

Villains so far:

Ágatha here is Nirvana in ORPOV. A charismatic but sadistic and obsessive cult leader. Even their appearance is the same.

Minor Villain with the Power to incite, and a Minor constellation that wants to cause chaos and use their avatar to do It. Also almost exactly the same.

Constellations:

Spoiler

Although constellations have become fairly common, the way they're used here is practically identical to ORPOV. In ORPOV, they also play the role of both benefactor and puppet master. The "choosing" part of your avatar is identical to the second chance to choose in ORPOV, with dots of light representing the number of interested parties.

[collapse]

Spoiler

The world: The world in this one is also a dystopian world with stages and missions to complete. So far so good, this isn't a new concept nor exclusive to ORPOV, but the way it's written is extremely similar but more generic. Seriously. The dilemmas, the protagonist's actions and intentions, the way things develop. Everything, only more generic and rushed.

[collapse]

All these similarities in 40 chapters. If I keep reading, I'm SURE there will be many more. <<less

So far the story is pretty fast paced but no big faults.

The characters are likable to a certain degree as they are pushed together in a rush. The main attraction of this story to me in the instances within the game and my interest of seeing the main character grow stronger.

The romance part of the story appears around chapter 30. And is cute. There are no complex relationships in the story.

So far I rate it 4.4/5

The translation quality is great and I like how the story is progressing. It was a bit jumpy at first but the tone is great now.

I like how the characters interact as well especially the younger kids. Due to their circumstances they’re a bit more mature than normal but they are just so cute and have a few moments where they can truly behave childlike.

There seems to be a bit of romance brewing as well which pretty much stated from chapter 30 or so.
