What a rushed and annoying ending. Some of the stories and misunderstandings are fun. It was great - albeit predictable - up until they go to America (last 100 chapters) where the writer very clearly threw out everything they had been hinting towards and went on a LAZY downwards spiral. I mean using real movies is such a copout. BTW most people have already seen these movies irl so why would anyone want a lengthy breakdown of a sh*ttier light novel version. Author was obviously not talented or confident enough... more>> to come up with a "movie" that would realistically blow up in Hollywood.

This author constantly rushed through things that they should have expanded on. Introduced characters just to immediately have them disappear. Abandoned set-ups that would have worked perfectly, out of laziness. Repeated things that were truly not great in the first place.
Spoiler

(whats the chance that he saves two different people from life threatening situations, causing them to fall in love and giving him great publicity???)

Follow this all up with a wet dream like reality where actual movies had their actors replaced by the MC and he's totally different. Seriously the least satisfying ending. I should have just stopped reading after Cannes. Then I wouldn't need to brush my teeth in an effort to get this rotten taste out of my mouth.

ALSO NO CHARACTER GROWTH HAPPENS THROUGHOUT THE STORY. He's just watching as life changes around him. What a loser. <<less

To start with, I truly enjoy OP main characters because I can just turn my head off and like, just enjoy the flow. This novel was a case like that. However, even if I really liked how this novel was written, I had to give a 3* because;

1. The ending feels rushed. I dont know if Im biased (hopefully not) because I've only read ongoing works (basically read finished works while they were publishing chapters still) but the ending feels so rushed ㅠㅠ. Its not even an open ending too.... more>> I think I would've rated it higher if the production of "Beauty and the Beast" and "John Persona" were also more spread out. While reading up to chapter 417, I was anxious because the novel is complete at chapter 480, yet there were atleast three more productions in progress. I was thinking, "was this discontinued"? a lot. Anyhow, after reading the novel, I was not content. I needed more of it.

2. I love the progression in "Pierrot" and that movie's symbolism in Woojin's life. But I didnt like how no one believed him whenever he tried to tell or show his true self. It was sad not being seen as you. Maybe it because the novel was very lightherted, but I wished it atleast had some moments with people who knows the true him. It actually what captivated me first. Like how he keeps his professional life to his personal life. He had one of his friends become a staff! I hope that there would atleast be some scene where he's reassured that some people who works in the industry knows his true self. That actually another reason why the romance in this was bad (imo). How come the love interest didnt even... HAAAA. I hate it here (lmao)

3. Thw unexplained plots. There were some parts that were uh, not fleshed out enough? Like for the shaman's kid? The whole bad vibes. And then how the black whole even started. Like. Ig was in yhe last episode but my reaction was just "??? How does that work exactly?

4. THE SIDE CHARACTERS. UGHHG. I dont like it when a skde character with potential just get mentioned once and then never appear again. There was atleast THREE, nay, EIGHT. Eight actors who could've been fleshed out in the story. I knkw people tend to hate it when a side character gets more screen time that the actual MC, but gosh, having maybe the character get their own screentime (when they were mentioned to have grown cuz of mc) would've been nice. There were two specific characters there, but damn it hurts.

Overall, if you like a male mary-sue MC protagonist in showbiz, this one is for you. I liked it at the start, but the overall of the novel left a bitterweet aftertaste for me. Personally, Id give it a 6.5/10 <<less

This story is good if you find misunderstandings funny, and aren't looking for a lot of conflict, but falls short because it basically focuses just on those two things. Everything he does will be positively misunderstood, and a solid 40% of the story is him succeeding and being so amazing that everyone needs to react in awe and adoration.

It just doesn't allow for much character development, if any at all. Outside very, very few instances of him being by himself, he has no personality because he's putting up some facade.... more>> So it's just a blank character going around while others talk at him, and he sometimes has a word or two of a response.

Ignore that though, and it isn't a bad read if you just want a story about easily succeeding as an actor. <<less

The premise is funny but the execution produced a character that I can not like or enjoy as well as a situation that is less humorous than I imagined and more frustrating. I think this is partially due to the fact that the main character lacks a convincing argument as to why he should continue the deception or something else (maybe the lack of skill or innocence... I do not know).

If you have read the Academy's Undercover Professor, I feel that series gives a better execution of a humorous misunderstanding.

It is lacking in the interpersonal relationships department, I think this is both because of the MC's "concept, " but also because that isn't really the focus of the story. Instead, the focus is on the showbiz, but more excitingly, the acting, I love the acting, like, seriously seriously. All of the other bits are good and don't drag the work down, but the best parts to read and enjoy are when the author/translator cut loose with the vocab and the imagery becomes vivid.

This work has the obligatory reactions of... more>> people around the MC, because he is truly broken, but the author turns this into a selling point by giving the side characters the opportunities to make their own conjectures and assumptions about why or how MC is doing things, which is often played for comedy. <<less

Let's get the best aspect this novel out first. Not many Eastern literatures out there does OP MCs very well. But fortunately, this novel's author brilliantly depicted the MC as a truly monstrous genius actor that is armed by one of the most powerful golden finger cheat in the history of East Asia webnovels industry. I can safely say that MC's OPness is just as powerful as One Punch Man's Saitama, if not more.

Now, let's talk about the negative aspect of this novel. Yeah, I'm talking about what other reviewers... more>> of this novel call THE LOOPHOLE. The author seems to vastly underestimate the viciousness of South Korea's tabloid industry. I actually already half-expected the tabloids and/or Hwalin fanbase to force MC's parents to close their restaurant or force Bloodsister to quit university from all the harangueing.

The author really missed the chance to take advantage of MC's actual extremely ordinary background and life history that did not commensurate whatsoever with his monstrous acting ability. The author dropped the ball here massively. Instead of using the 'misunderstanding' trope to deal with this, the author could have wrote a major sidestory, a scandal perhaps, that may or may not address this incongruity. No way the South Korea's tabloids will not find out that MC has never gone to Japan or United States before the first chapter of this novel. <<less

While the intent behind the complex narratives in this novel is admirable in its attempt to capture the chaos of real life, the execution unfortunately leaves the reader feeling confused and overwhelmed. There are simply too many characters and subplots to juggle at once without losing track of critical details. Just when I would become invested in one storyline, the narration would abruptly shift to a different storyline across the globe dealing with entirely unrelated issues. These constant narrative jumps made it challenging to feel grounded in any one plot... more>> line or connect deeply with any of the characters.

I respect the author's ambition to construct a story as messy and packed with activity as real life, but most readers look to fiction for some narrative cohesion and consistency. Having a few key story arcs explore different themes or character journeys can work well, but this novel bites off more than it can chew with seven or eight meandering threads that never tie together in a satisfying way. Perhaps restricting the story to focus more deeply on fewer events would make for a more cohesive reading experience. As it stands, there is so much happening on every page that by the end I struggled to recall key details or how certain subplots had been resolved. While authentic, the all-over-the-place approach to storytelling here is more frustrating than engaging. <<less

It's good.

The main character persona is quite established and interesting. His power, while underutilized (because screen time) is also intriguing

but... the only weakness I see in this novel is... other character beside MC. While there is other PoV to see how amazing MC is, but their character need some more building. While I said that but its only been 74 chap for me so let's hope for the best

TL:DR It's a fun read so far despite having some weaknesses. Don't expect too much realism as they gloss over many things and the characters (thus far) aren't very fleshed out. It's strength is a fast paced plot that is mostly comedic. But it's mostly the situational kind of thing and not outright jokes. Personally I like the MC's internal struggle with the constant new experiences he's thrust himself into. Fake it until you make it quite literally.

I'd have dropped this to a Rating 3 just for the hyperbolic praise... more>> lavished on the MC. It's really tiresome in most wish fulfillment stories, but I find this (mostly) palatable due to the misunderstandings. The later of which usually gets on my nerves too. Especially when it comes to drama/romance. Somehow this series has managed to keep my interest despite this. I guess it's because the MC isn't dense in this case and is usually fully aware that someone has misunderstood. Speaking of romance there's some hints of a potential love interest but it could be a red herring. I just REALLY hope they don't do something extremely bone headed like extend the misunderstanding to the romance. I'm so fed up with characters that can't communicate properly, especially when it comes to romance.

The MC's power is pretty broken and I do hope the author explores its origins more rather than just continue to use it as a plot device. I don't know if the cover art here is foreshadowing, but it would be interesting if this is a reflection of the roles he's experiencing. The impact on his mind. <<less

It's pretty good. Game system combined with the entertainment industry trope and a nice little convenient misunderstandings lead to a pretty chill and fun read. It delivers on its premise. Read it

A fun, slice of life story. There's really only one joke "Everyone looked at Kang Woojin thinking seeiously. 'He must be practicing his role.' Meanwhile Kang Woojin, 'I really want to fart'."

But the story doesn’t take itself seriously, like Kang Woojin doesn’t either, so it's still enjoyable.

The side characters are more interesting really.

i like the story of the movies at the start before it starting to just copy pasting existing works, like Beauty and The Beast and the Joker. And the major thing that disappoints me beside what I just said:

Spoiler

the supposed “romance” nearing the end. Like at least give someone who is genuinely likes him as a person instead of an actor. Miley Cara only dismisses him when he’s talking about his real self and now he needs to live a lonely life where he can never stops acting because everyone only sees him as just a very phenomenal actor and never Kang Woojin the person yknow and this makes me sad. Like f u author and the ending didnt show his “lovey-dovey” relationship because obviously can’t have one if nobody in the relationship are in love.

[collapse]

A lot of comments already discussed about the repetitiveness of the story and I agree with them.

If u dont want to ruin your reading experience then just imagine the last few chapters. <<less

It's alright, I enjoyed it in the beginning but like most novels like this it becomes very rinse and repeat with the protagonist shocking people in the industry with his abilities and winning awards and seeing fans' (message board) and the media's (headlines) responses to it happening. Not a spectacular read but certainly not a terrible one.

People might find it annoying that there were parodies of movies that the MC acts in like "Beast and the Beauty" (Beauty and the Beast) or "Pierrot: Birth of a Villain" (Joker), it's not... more>> really that big of a deal to me, but if that sort of thing upsets you then save yourself from getting upset. <<less

It's a really fun story. The author used the 'misunderstandings' tag in a way that wasn't completely unbearable.

The story isn't without it's issues, but I enjoyed it anyway. The story doesn't change much, and it's quite repetitive. If you don't like the story much by the first or second project the protagonist does are over, you probably won't like the rest of it. I did feel like the ending of the story was dragged out a bit. The story had to tie off loose ends, but it could have been... more>> more succinct.

It's a pretty harmless and fun story overall. I'm glad the author didn't try to force romance into the story. It wouldn't have fit well. <<less

Okay, this started fine. It was interesting and funny. But it went downhill when the author introduced the romance, bch pls, if he wanted to play a romance he should have done it with a character that had had more romantic interactions with MC and not just choose the person that has the less and was described as a cold and business mind person.

And He even did all that when the best arc was going on, MC was making the joker movie. I wear, I was invested. It was of... more>> the best parts of the story and then BOOM romance out of nowhere with another movie, which should have been staged by a different actrice but for some plot related reason (romance) the FL got the role. Honestly, it was good and fun, I binged read up to that point but it simple couldn't recover from there.

So, you can still read it just ignore the sudden changes the author's made at almost the end of the story and keep reading. Maybe you'll like it more than me. <<less

The story is a decent read, but honestly, overall up to the chapters I've read, it feels bland because there isn't a major problem the main character faces. Plus, the main character doesn't undergo any character development, even though it's something that could easily be done.

Story is great but around halfway till the end it just became "MC so great!" with none of the initial hype that I got. The hype I'm referring to is every time they do the scenes for shows and movies.
Spoiler

Another hype thing for me was whenever MC has a new skill taken from a role then he uses it in real life.

[collapse]
As the story progressed, they just presented lines of news article titles and online forums/ comments. The times they do show scenes from the show he's in decreases drastically as it goes on. I also dislike how whenever MC speaks a new language, he always gets complimented about it and everyone is surprised with how fluent he speaks. Maybe it's normal to compliment someone about their fluency but with how often they say it from every other character, It just felt like lazy writing and just a way to reach a quota for the number of words in a chapter.

I'm bashing it but still giving it a 4 stars because the initial joy I had can't be overshadowed with how bland the later parts became. I also like how they didn't try to force any romance in this. If you want a Gary Stu/ Mary Sue story but in the entertainment industry then this story is for you.

the power comes from someone (possibly his grandparents/some kind of god with a face of his grandparent) when woojin reached his breaking point, so im confused when I read some of the reviewers who confused where his power comes from,

[collapse]

The only complaint I have was with the romance, im not usually a fan of romance in a story like this but its feels like it added to the story for the sake of it, like..

Spoiler

how the fML are choosen, because both hwalin and miley interaction with woojin basically the same, both famous singer and actress, have a project with MC, and both was saved by the MC, its almost identical, but why the author decided MC ended up with miley is weird for me, since both have the same chance as the fml, but author decided to removed hwalin interaction entirely with MC, when MC decided to focusing in Hollywood, while MC and miley ended up together was understandable since they have a lot of project together, but it because hwalin was just cut like that from anything related to the MC, so I find it kinda weird and forced

I truly enjoyed this novel, it was incredibly entertaining and captivating and I couldn’t help but to fall in love with all the characters and stories.

the only downside to this novel is that there were a few minor time skips that I wish didn’t happen, and that I would have loved more chapters, i’m sad it ended but it will remain in my memory as a cherished book.
