I Was Summoned to Be a Miko, but the Guy with Me was So High-Spec that They Didn’t Need Me

Description

On the way home from work, I was summoned to another world to be a Miko, along with a young man I just met.

He had good, strong abilities, perfect for the role of Miko, and thus had to carry the expectations of the world alone.

I, meanwhile, with my lesser abilities, had to somehow survive in a foreign world after leaving everything I knew behind.

This novel is crap. The character is a doormat with zero self-respect, everyone treats him like crap in the dumbest ways, and he should pretty much let the world fall to the miasma. He saves others lives and never even gets treated okay in return, but then he forgives them everything and feels he owes others for not selling him into s*avery🙄🙄🙄 and the side characters gaslight him constantly.

Want an intro to a love interest? “It said that she and my two sisters were about to be sold off without... more>> a chance for our debt to be repaid, and in the worst case, the whole family would be in danger of having our title revoked” as everyone knows, it’s so much worse to lose a title. Isn’t he such a gem? 😇💩 Plus, the author can’t keep track of details like: s*avery is f king outlawed, but can somehow sell the mother and sisters. And there’s a supposed 7:3 ratio of males to females, but all these families have majority women?

I’m pretty sure this was written by a 13 yo, feels young. <<less

mmmm yeah, don't read this.

The MC an idiot, he learns about an assassination attempt within the current week, and instead of, ya know, leaving, he opts to make a long term plan of gaining magical power, and wait until the actual assassination attempt to do something about it. He absolutely deserved getting literally thrown off a cliff for that, since he didn't have any ideas on how to stop the attempt despite having a $%#$%!# week head start. There was a timeskip but tbh I wasn't enjoying my time reading... more>> so I have no idea what happens next nor did I care. <<less

I dont get all the bad reviews. The story is typically japanese, with flat romance development (companionship brings fondness) aka. No hot romance.

There was a comment about how protagonist is s*upid because he didn't just leave when he uncovered assassination on him, but it was explained that he was aware that they would do the same even if he escaped, and that would last till he died.

The protagonist is go with the flow type of guy who just wants to live his life normally (also I think that he is... more>> in late 20 or early 30, so he is a calm rational adult, unlike the usual isekai protagonist). Examples of his experience in society: not asking about overtime at job, being aware of himself and his status, calmly accepting things, not being led by emotions and doing things expectec of him. He isnt lazy or narcissistic and doesn't want for adventure which, I guess is often used in Isekai plots. His realistic view on his situation, abilities and analytical abilities causes the story to go differently than usual face-slapping storylines as his opponents gets burried by their own actions.

In contrast the tag-along i. Summoning is typical I want to be protagonist type of guy. I am giessing early 20. Likes to be in center of attention, seeks fun, emotions leads every decision, wannabe hero... The more usual isekai protagonist.

The story is a atypical but good read for isekai genre. In case that this is not your cup of tea and you prefer young hot-blooded protagonist there is no need to leave a bad review. <<less

Finished the main story and couldn't find the extras hmm so perhaps later on 🤔 This novel is just so-so and perfectly done according to formula.

The story flow is rather flat and straightforward. The romance, or what little of it I successfully received through MTL, flowed in a similar fashion. If you like light reads and happy endings, I'd say give this a go! Not really interesting or fresh but it's not bad.

This is a good beginner BL for those that are getting their feet wet. I remember this being one of the first BLs I picked up at this site.

There's no depth in the plot. It is as advertised. At the beginning, there is a big moment where it feels like the story will good into more hidden conspiracies and political drama, but it doesn't. It's honestly your bare bones adventure plot.

The real focus is just MC's ability to navigate the new world. I want to say character growth as well,... more>> but there's so little of it. MC basically is a static character that easily accepted his new lot in life.

I will say that the romance is surprising. That's where the plot twists happen. But it's final form is a sweet and fluffy happily ever after.

The one thing that did knock off a star off this story is how stilted the story seemed? Especially at the beginning where it kind of had an awkward start but once the ball got rolling, it smooth itself out once the author knew what they wanted. I honestly don't know what it is, just that the chapters stacked on top of each other like jenga blocks. Looks good when stacked into it's tower but each piece is slightly bigger or smaller that could topple that tower with one wrong move.

Luckily, the story didn't topple over and was a success instead. <<less

Somebody said in the comments section above that they thought this novel was complete tr*sh and that the protagonist was a complete doormat. I feel that the guy who said that is wrong. It takes a lot of inner strength to forgive those who have hurt you badly and seeing the character overcome the situation and still be willing to help them shows a lot about his character to me. Therefore I would recommend this novel for those who like reading about forgiving others but also becoming stronger despite what... more>> happened. <<less

It’s a short and sweet story. I must emphasise the short part.

I feel that the majority of the negative reviews comes from the expectation that a story with less than a hundred chapters could have more substantial character or plot development. In my opinion, such a thing is impossible unless one would like it to be a story written in bullet form. To expect anything more is setting yourself up for disappointment.

Go and read this story without the expectations of lengthy plot heavy stories like “shield hero” and “saint’s... more>> magic power is omnipotent” or other ‘summoned person gets shoved aside for some other summoned person’ kind of stories.

This is a pocket-sized fluffy isekai BL story, no drama or any excessive angst. It’s to be read with a light heart and little brain power. <<less

The translation is nice, I had a good time reading this. This is light, the plot doesn't twist much. Good for those who wants to get a light, calm vibe. The romance isn't much developed I guess, but it's still good. If I could say... Thiss is nice to spend ur day without absorbed too much. Love this!

Generic novel with a plot that has been done multiple times. Characters are kind of meh. But okay to read when you have nothing to do and want to relax.

I appreciate the attempt at being a bl isekai, but at the end of the day whether on the romance front or the adventure/fantasy front this whole story was incredibly dull. I’m sad that this was such a flat read. All the characters are very one dimensional. The MC and ML fall in love, but I honestly saw no romance really going on. Just all of a sudden the ML is like “I like you” then a few chapters later the MC goes “I like you too” in the most... more>> boring unromantic way possible. Like development isn’t shown, just quickly stated after it’s already “happened”. It here is no real tension, MC has a massive amount of magic but is never put in a situation where he needs it all. None of the fights are written well and lack any type of tension or excitement. The story is filled with boring and useless details and discussion and side characters that offer nothing to the story. We had a hint of a possible secondary couple but literally the next chapter or so they’re gone and we never hear about them again.. Honestly the more I reflect on the story the more irritated I get. <<less

Ultimately I had to drop it.

The writing style is incredibly brusque in a way that is uncomfortable. A 1.5 year time skip happens with absolutely no feeling of progress besides "MC is OP now". Characters are all flat and lacking in personality, changing on the whims of what the author needs them to contribute to the plot. A character is introduced, and within two chapters is revealed to have been royalty all along. The MC has no agency or self-identity. Never at any point do I get a sense of... more>> what he actually wants. He just sorts of floats alone, ticking boxes of isekai stories as needed.

The s*avery collar and royalty plot ("plot" is a reach, there is no plot in this novel) is what made me drop it. MC is betrayed by a love interest, put in a s*ave collar, dragged before the king, and then it's all resolved within the same chapter with the guy who basically committed treason just being put under house arrest and MC being like okay cool I guess I'll help you.

And here's the thing. I didn't drop the novel because the MC has no backbone and forgave them for capturing and trying to ens*ave him and it made me angry. I dropped it because I didn't care. I should have cared. I should have had some kind of reactiong. But I was just like... man, I don't give two shits about this story actually if this isn't eliciting any kind of emotional response from me, huh. <<less

I'm marking this as four-stars because I am petty.

I wanted something light to read. Something to cleanse my palette in between bigger works done by more notorious writers. And I found it. That is what this is. A palette cleanser.

For a 47 chapter isekai, this story is not as bad as the one star reviews are making it out to be. I think people on this site criticize okay novels to oblivion and overrate mundane novels to the stars--thinking of it logically, this novel is definitely three-star material but considering... more>> how many boring, overcomplicated, uninteresting novels reign at above four-stars, I think we can make a bit of an exception here, right?

I actually found this novel to be quite charismatic, thank you very much! The extra chapters where they expanded on some side-characters were quite nice. I liked Queen Elizabeth's extra the best. The way the author writes is quite casual but carries a nice air of maturity. I never found any character I disliked or found annoying
Spoiler

And yes, that includes Alphonse. While it was shocking suddenly changing the male lead, my disappointment abated as I read on, and his reasons for betraying Akira and the subsequent regret were written reasonably, I believe.

[collapse]

It's a simple story with some complex elements here and there. Some one off phrases could make a reader discover a plot-hole, but it's not very noticeable.

I didn't expect much with it being 3.4 stars, but as I read through I got increasingly confused. This novel is not bad at all, don't let the score deter you. <<less

Complete (100% read) a very cute fluffy story with a pretty interesting protagonist! I love reluctant heros and I ESPECIALLY love characters who "fail" their trope expectations :) it's always nice to see a Nice Young Mans^tm make a comfortable life!

I agree with other commentaries saying it's dull.

Honestly its 100% dull and there's not excitement whatsoever reading this, it's as if the author didn't feel anything while writing.

Be it the fights, the purification that is incredibly fast, the romance who doesn't felt like one or just every characters, honestly it's quite bad but not that they are bad, just that's the way it's written is boring.

I don't recommand this one.

P.S : sorry for the mistake I'm not talking english that well

I loved it! I like that the main ML wasn't necessarily predictable. Refreshing plot twists!!!

I loved how the author (and ML) treated MC's transmission and his transition from being straight: with respect and plenty of patience.

The main character spends time sad and confused, and does not immediately swing the other way when a hottie shows some interest. He is of his own mind and values his independence.

This is the type of consideration I LOVE to find in stories, and while the writing may feel a little flat in other areas,... more>> I am a huge sucker for healthy relationships and realistic isekai transitions. 5/5 would recommend. <<less

3.4 ratings is right for it, hummm in my opinion the way that author write the story is childish, feel like teenager that write something and just blast it.. the way of thinking in each character is also not so mature although their age is 20+ (I feel author try to make them.. cool headed, but their lack something that make them 20+ age), don't hope for any smuty they don't have it, the love just like that.. author try to make an unconditional love but lack of many... more>> element that can make it, well... still light and just, u may read it if you bored or don't want to think <<less

I actually quite enjoyed this novel. It's kind of a quiet relaxing read, where the highs are not too intense and the lows aren't too low. I can see why some might find it a little boring but personally I liked the pacing and calmness of the story.

The romance is really lowkey, it's just a minor part of the story but I still liked it, it's a more subtle and mature feeling of two people relying on each other rather than passionate romancing and wooing.

As for the assassination plot point:

Spoiler

the MC finds out about the plant to assassinate early on but he actually doesn't sit around and do nothing. He practices his magic to strengthen in order to survive and escape when the time comes. He acts as if he did nothing because it's the course of action that looks the least suspicious and will look more convincing when he fakes his death. So he did plan for it.
