Palcemith. A kingdom blessed by the dragons.

I remembered this was the world in the game I had played in my previous world, [The Dragon and the Sacrificial Priestess]. But I had reincarnated as the Prime Minister Anderheim who would be led to ruin with his villainess daughter Julieta.

However, now that my memories have returned, I do not intend to give up that easily.

Making full use of my memories from my past life, with my daughter, let me show the capture targets how to turn the tables.

The plot is mediocre. The characters are all 2-dimesional. The love interest came out of nowhere. I regretted reading this pos. The only saving point may be that the author wrapped up the story pretty nicely.

Though, I must admit the steamy scenes is pretty good. If you only came for the "smut" tag, and the plot is your secondary concern, you could still read this. The translation is pretty good too. At least it's a PWP, although the plot is not quite good haha...

... and I think there's more.

Onto the review.

Well that was interesting huh? When I first saw the summary for this novel, I was hooked. "A remembering past live" trope, with the "an anti hero as the main character who is also a single parent?!! And it also has revenge?!! Take my money Author. Anyway.. this novel was definitely something.. it had the single parent trop, yes, but the author didn't play with that idea. It felt like the main character interacted with the other characters more than his own daughter. Because of the blurb I thought this was gonna be a story of bonding between father and daughter where the father only has a soft spot for his daughter and is exacting revenge on those who hurt her. This story was a classic action of tell but don't show. I kept being told that he loved his daughter and yes, I did read the whole book, I know the whole plot is basically for her, butttt where? His love felt... fake? Honestly I just wish we had more scenes of them bonding. If I were Julietta and Anderheim was my father, after the way I'd been treated, I'd honestly probably have some trauma.

Second, The antihero trope, I actually loved the way it was done here. If you like a male lead who doesn't easily get controlled by his emotions then you're in the right place. If we had a mother characters point of view that wasn't the Male lead, we'd probably hate him. But that's the beauty of a antihero isn't it?

Anyway since I'm on it let's get the the love interest shall we? Of course I'm not gonna reveal who it is! Y'all are gonna have to read to find that out for yourself. I didn't like him at first, like I honestly would've picked any other person...
Spoiler

anyway... the second last chapter happened and my heart dropped. I didn't expect him to grow on me.

[collapse]

As for the revenge part of the story...I'm annoyed.
Spoiler

None of the people who originally contributed in Julietta's demise got a super bad ending. Heck, some of them even got happy endings. Only the Crown prince and his fiancé were super hurt but what about the capture targets?! They contributed too why the hell did they get happy endings.

Nice plot for intrigues and so, I like how the protagonist plan his revenge at first but after it seems a little too soft. (Should be more cruel for me).

I also like how he whitewash himself, very clever.

At first I completely forgotten that this was a BL novel and in my opinion it should have not be, the plot was great how it was and the bl part seems a little forced with poor explanation why the ML and MC hook together.

So far, I love it. I see that people don't like that the ML was not who they expected, but I like the ML with the MC. MC is smart and good at deceiving the other characters and I love the smut. Oh my gosh, the smut. Anyways, the other characters are also great. The heroine is so annoying. Overall, it's awesome.

Uhhh imagine if your typical OP edgy scheming protagonist was also part of a BL novel I guess?

It's not terrible but it's not particularly amazing either. Sometimes it drags but there's just as many times where you'll be left wondering if you skipped a chapter or five cuz of the randomness of the plot shifts.

Mindless fun dark read if you're desperate for some fantasy bl that at least has some plot.

It was a lot of fun. I love how merciless and unscrupulous the MC is. I've read many transmigration stories where a character, after transmigrating into a villain, works on saving his life by doing good deeds. The MC here goes a completely different route, and "In for a penny, in for a pound" is a perfectly fitting name. It was enjoyable to read something so unrestrained. The plot in the second half was somewhat dragging but the resolution was satisfying. A beautiful extra, too, and I also wish I... more>> saw the portraits of the characters before reading, it would amplify my enjoyment even more. A great translation, too. <<less

The flow and characterizations are pretty good. The plot is also heavily packed in a good way. Yes, there are a few topics that might be uncomfortable for some people, but I personally think they are not added carelessly. The ending and epilogue are also great closures to the story. Thank you for the translations, translators!!

despite many leaving bad reviews on this one, I personally find this light novel fun and exciting! Though there are some scenes that make me uncomfortable.

there's not much conflict or problem for the protag that others might find it flat or boring but honestly? That's why it's kinda refreshing for me.

There are pretty uncomfortable themes. Like beastiality but it doesnt happen to the protagonist. s*avery. Kinda in*est but they're not blood related. Many other things.

It's really boring. No ups and downs. Everything goes well for the protag.

Smut. Lots of smut. Though I skipped most of them.

... more>> I don't really care for any of the characters. They don't have personality. Its hard to feel emotions for them. Except Nasha and her family because wtf MC. Anyway I expected this to be twisted so I'm not too surprised.

What I mean by the characters not having personality is that they easily succumb to MC. Its as if they don't have ideas of their own. The characters are bland and uninteresting. Character development is forced. It doesn't make sense.

The development is... cringey. and there are plotholes. But I dont really care. The mc's plot or plans only sound smart... only sound smart but if you have enough brains it sounds s*upid.

Its that kind of feel good story that everything goes well for the protag and lots of face slapping. Everything goes as you expect them to.

Why does this have a high rating??? But I finished this novel after all that so that must say something about the novel.

This novel gives what it says its gonna give.

My review sounds pretty edgy but its really boring. I didn't feel a thing while reading this novel. It must be because I expected too much. <<less

I gave a 5 star! It was wonderful! I lamented that the novel was too short and when the extra ch came I waited with excitement if there was a vol2 where they begin again with the dragon but nope...

It’s a strongly recommended novel with a bit of dark side but not that much gore and such. They wrote in the warning. The smut with the MC and ML is great and the sub couples are sweet too and very likeable. They too have a somewhat complete story.

I really really loved this story. It was addictive from start to finish, you can’t help but wonder what the MC will do next.

The story starts when the evil prime minister remembers his memories of a past life when he lived happy with a loving family, and while this does influence him (the two ‘personalities’ merge together), it by no means makes him suddenly a new person. He’s unrepentant, cruel, sadistic, and manipulative all the way (which I loved). While his personality doesn’t really change, the memories made him start... more>> to care about his daughter and people close to him, anyone he recognizes he’ll definitely protect (but he’ll still use them, lie to them and manipulate them).

He turns black into white and wrong into right, while everyone else can just dance to the tune he’s playing.

The only thing that I feel needed more explanation is the romance.

Spoiler

It comes suddenly and almost out of nowhere. While I think it started as lust for the ML and plotting for the MC, they very quickly discovered that they suited each other perfectly.

Anderheim said he wanted to get the ML no matter what (no reason was given) and to that end he didn’t care if he used everything, even his body. But we are never really told why he wanted to get ML so much, or since when (or for that matter, why did he despise ML so much in the past that he stole his fiance).

Still, once the romance starts I totally became invested in it, and it was a very fun ride. I think Anderheim only truly fell in love with ML after the circus event. And I liked that he wanted the other person to choose him by his own will, not because he was manipulated (though he kinda was anyway).

[collapse]

All in all, this is a story that starts as an otome game setting that only gets dark and darker the more you read, and the MC remains a true villain until the very end, so if you don’t like to walk through muddy waters or are looking for a nice and light story, turn back now.

This story includes many heavy subjects that might make people uncomfortable, so beware. <<less

I have to say, I just read the first smut scene (which was great, don't get me wrong) but for the first time ever, the BL aspect was absolutely unnecessary! ‎・ࡇ・I love reading BL but honestly the romance thrown in for MC was very... sudden? unexpected?? I definitely did not see the ML coming (he came hard) from a mile away lol Lust really hits hard

Spoiler

I was actually expecting the dragon to transform into a bishounen and become lovers with the descendant of the sage who sealed him (aka MC) but I guess we'll settle with MC's late wife's former fiance aka the man who cucked him aka Jolga/Jorga ⚆ɞ⚆)

I don't know how to feel about this pair and the fact that they had sudden hot s*x in an old hunter's cabin on a stormy day, on an impulse after Jorga rescues MC from an assassination. They (cough Jorga cough) developed good feelings after they "cleared up the misunderstandings" but Jorga...

Jorga, are you okay?? why so thirsty??? How did you get bent by the rain????

[collapse]

Don't even get me started on the side pair that launched before the main pair! Author-sama!!! How!!!!?

Spoiler

Both father and son, Jorga and Lutora, got bent by our two scheming villains:MC and Head Priest Malacia lol

Lutora x Malacia: "his waist is thinner than expected", got baited by Malacia's pitiful act lol

Jorga x MC: "he took on all the bad rumors and villainous role to protect my heart", ????, suddenly in bed

The next pair I'm betting 1 potato chip on is Sigurd x Julieta who are now non-blood siblings sbdjfhd

[collapse]

I'm not the biggest fan of schemes and conspiracy themed novels (small brain capacity and only here for a good time kind of reads pls) but I think this is doing pretty well so far. I'd go as far as to say this could've been a predecessor of tr*sh of the Count's Family but it falls short by quite a margin. I'd love for this novel to just purely be a scheming father's road to redemption and protecting his child (ren).

Definitely enjoy this being a Male Protag POV novel and reading the schemes he launches unfold to perfection. It's an interesting read! <<less

Many plot holes, and the story doesn't run very smoothly in places... I doubt it's because of the translator, it's just that the author has written it like this. Romance aspect is not great, it has some smur n not a lot of fluff. An average read.

Writing quality & story execution - 3 stars. (Wish it was better)

Plot - 4 stars

Spoiler

first chapter starts with Anri regaining his memories from his previous life. And he proceed to just roll with it. He encounters no hardships in any task he has to deal with. And people completely believe in the image he tries to hold up, despite that it is a complete flip of what his previous image was like. I still don't understand how he got the priest to be on his side. Same with the dragon.

Literally skim through and the chapters and you'll get the gist of the story. It's boring. <<less

Absolutely a good novel. I like the plot very much!

The prorag is so smart. And he is the uke that not need to be protected all over the time. He is not good with sword tho. But his brain is so good!

His scheme is the best!

Ok. Let me tell you this right away. The protagonist isn't a good person. Also don't expect too much politics or smart opponents. The MC is the smartest one in the story.

Tbh it's a light read to pass the time. Cause character development is random and might seem too forced.

But I must say I enjoyed the smut. Ah the guilty pleasure of seeing toxic relationships with manipulating characterization. Ooh la la the s*x is hot af. Yes the MC is an expert manipulator. (Also the priest is also manipulative so... more>> MC and priest buddies. More like accomplices)

It’s definitely not a 5/5 but it’s interesting enough to keep you reading.

The translation is generally good, but somethings are explained in really complicated ways. I was generally confused on wtf was going on for the first 10ish chapters but it does get better.

The characters are... mixed. I like how each of them have such defined characteristics making them not feel bland. They all seem to have a good dynamic with their respective parter too. ... more>>
Spoiler

Except Sigurd and Julieta, they came more out of nowhere than the main couple did.

[collapse]
the bad part is that sometimes their decisions are questionable... they fall in love literally in the span of a chapter. Relationship literally come out of no where. The fact that no one could tell who tf the ML was because he barely got any time until they actually hooked up, says a lot. Their relationship literally had one sentence of build up. I was really hoping for a super smart manipulative MC but that’s not exactly what he is. Since was can’t really see how he comes to his conclusions and concocts his plans, it just seems like the MLs are weak willed af.

the setting is very cool and I really appreciate the author throwing in some world building. I’m a fan of western fantasy so this was right up my ally.

over all I think overall to give it a try but don’t expect amazing levels of story telling cuz that’s not what you’re gonna get. <<less

This is too early to review with how excellent the schemes and how well those schemes are going. But damn was it satisfying to see how the schemes unfolds. The MC is somehow very scheming and yet as the story goes it became a part of him.

Chapter 40 was just something. I dunno how it's going to end or even progress from this point.

The Romance is pretty interesting. It's not the type of romantic you'll find no no. This story is dark even the author is not sugar coating or... more>> even justifying any characters action. That's what this makes one of the otome game genre (despite being bl) so unique. This level of darkness wasn't of this level compare to reincarnated into an otome yandere kinds of level. Or another novel I could not remember the title since its hiatus. <<less
