When I was a freshman in high school, I discovered that my childhood sweetheart, who I had been dating for about three years, had been cheating on me with a friend. They seemed to be having a physical relationship, and eventually, my ex-girlfriend got pregnant and dropped out of high school.

Seventeen years later, I met a girl who looked a lot like my ex-girlfriend.

Well it was short, simple and kinda (?) sweet. Things are fairly platonic up until the end, so no pe*o danger here.

What else can I say? 17 short chapters don't contain that much, but as can be imagined (without spoiling anything too much) cheaters never prosper, abandoned kids are suckers for love, and aging salarymen sometimes just want a little warmth in their lives.

well... this feels like it is a recipe for disaster. The premise is kind of squicky. But honestly, the yandere tag is something that may change the dynamics between MC and FL. The potential amount of blackmail that FL has on MC, the societal norm, and the potential mu*derhappy FL should tilt the power dynamics to FL to be the dominant one. Honestly, it's too early to judge this as pe*ophilic story, as it's possible that the MC don't really have agency here. but the premise is damning...

It's kind of hard to describe this story.

It doesn't feel real. It doesn't feel like the girl actually fell in love with the man. It doesn't feel like the cheaters actually cheated. It doesn't feel like any of the characters actually felt anything. The whole time it felt like a group of androids trying their best to follow a vague set of directions to act out a romance.

It was weird. Harmless, but weird.

A bizarre story with strange atmosphere all the time. Nothing really special but a bit different slice of life piece.

Still, I don't really understand this many negative ratings. These people probably never read more than the synopsis. This story is completely harmless and their relationship is totally wholesome.

    Spoiler

Their first kiss happens when the girl is 18 during their conversation when exactly they should marry

Again, the story is not great (my rating is ***), but surely not a total disaster. If you like melancholic slice of life stories with this typical Japanese weirdness, give it a try. <<less

Honestly this story was pretty good. The TL did a good job (though seems to have some sort of aversion to leaving words as is like typing k. Iss or l. Ips and stuff like that).

The beginning hit me hard for some reason, no idea why.

After what I'll call the introduction chapters, there was a lot of rather oddly-paced fluff. A vague example without spoilers would be shifting time quickly while also describing individual mundane situations in a fair amount of detail.

The ending was definitely rushed, but very sweet. Overall... more>> I'd give this an 8.5/10 so it gets 4 stars here. <<less

Honestly, this would be way better if the same story was told over 45 chapters instead of the 17 that it has. It's not bad conceptually, but the execution is lacking. There's not enough show, and too much tell, with no real attention spent on pacing or details. It's mid.
