In a world where most social activities already moved to virtual space, a brand-new VRMMORPG, Arca Storia—Arst for short—had just been released. It boasted a level of reality that could be called the “remarkably lifelike another world” that everyone had dreamed of.

Tōno Tsuguharu, a bookworm, saw the advertisement for the game and had a thought: if it’s so intricately-built, maybe I can read books created from its unique history and culture?

He ignored the typical adventure of battling monsters and traveling from town to town. Instead, when he arrived at the starting town, he immersed himself in the guild archive room and never showed any intention of leaving. The NPCs gradually grew perplexed by his behavior. His support AI watched on with laughter.

This is a gameplay diary of Tohno, who spent his time reading in the game world and occasionally took on part-time jobs (*quests) to sort information in order to raise funds. Before he knew it, a handsome mercenary NPC with his own secrets already had him in his sights.

(As of ch.16) So far, a super cute read! I love that it's focused on a book worm character who gives a "oblivious to their own charm, secretly might become OP using unusual means" kinda vibes. Excited to see more of the tags come into play as the story progresses and watch our MC grow.

(updated as of ch.66) I love the relationship progression and world building. Everything feels very natural as we learn things about the world with the protagonist and side characters. The addition viewpoints and web... more>> forum sections keep the story interesting and allow us to understand how truly unusual our MC is in comparison to others. Excited to see where our characters go next!

(update as of ch.99) Easily my current favorite novel to read. Every time I get caught up on current releases I scream a little cuz I need more. MC and ML relationship progression is on the slower side (I'd say medium burn) mainly due to Tono's characteristics and naïvety, but when they do get some relationship development it just feels that much more exciting. Green flag ML for sure. Lots of communication and working together through situations instead of a bunch of angst misunderstandings even though ML comes off stone faced to others/at first. <<less

If you're like me and tend to be wary to try JP novel's tagged Yaoi or Mature due to the usual suspects- namely a doormat MC (whose personality is house wife or s*x doll), smut within the first few chapters and then every other chapter, smut usually dubious by nature, the MC not enjoying s*x and saying no, stop every other line... then (as of CH80) you don't have to worry about that here.

Although not consensual in that the ML didn't asked, it was consensual in that the MC has... more>> consistently been willing and seems to enjoy ML's "gratitude" sessions. They haven't gone further than some touching as of ch80, and ML appears to want to take it slowly for MC's sake.

MC is pretty likeable. He's a bookworm through and through. And his actions and behavior are within what you would expect considering his backstory.

ML is a bit stale but also likeable. I'm not sure yet if he's 1D due to his status as a NPC or otherwise. As I'm also not sure yet whether it's actually a game or one of those, "it's actually an alternate world." type stories.

Conclusion, no real high or lows emotionally, it's a novel that's easy to read casually. <<less

I went to go press the [next] button only to realize I had reached the current update I ended up yelling out 'Noooo!'

(>Д<;)

To say the least im definitely addicted. The translation is SUPER good!!! The MMO of Arnst is exactly what I would LOVE to play. The main character Touno is a total dedicated bookworm whose polite and curious nature has led him into seeing the world in ways other players dont. The ML is standoffish to others, but really sweet to MC! Def good for people... more>> who like dedicated, mercenary, caring MLs.

Worldbuilding and side characters are really well handled in my opinion. I'm fascinated! Classic fantasy world, but with MC focus on past forgotten mythos/world-lore.

I can see non-gamers potentially getting confused sometimes. There are forum/chatboard sections that also could confuse people unfamiliar with them, but those chapters are optional to read. I personally love them!

THANK YOU TRANSLATOR SO MUCH!!!!! (also big thanks to the original author but I dont think they will ever see this...) <<less
