3.5/5 This is a city management game setting story. Since I finished it in one sitting, must be quite interesting for me somehow, rite??!

So you have MC who met ML early in the story. Jointly work together and built a city in the apocalyptic era, but here's the unique part, it's totally game like and very fantasy like in a sense, eventho the story itself is a fanfic already.

The story is pretty short, you can barely feel the villains presence anywhere. No thrill or anything, almost too boring if you're... more>> not into city management type of setting. Even the managing plot is barely there, MC basically only upgrade everything and barely plan anything. Ofc that aspect also becoz MC met ML and they complimented each other with their "cheats". Nothing on character development too. Anyway, you don't need your normal three views for the story.

So I wrote the meh, but this is quite an easy read if you're not put off by the setting. It's not bad in my opinion, but yeah it's not great either. The ending has a twist, but it's actually pretty anticlimactic 🤣 the point is our CP is OP and great. I recommend to read this only for the CP. <<less

This novel is quite good if you like apocalypse novels and infrastructure novels. This focuses more on the latter, you know, slowly building up a city that can fight against the apocalypse. BUT!!! Not in the usual way. It's truly a mysterious, black-box system that works very similarly to those popular infrastructure games XD. The quality of the story itself can only be said to be subpar, the characters aren't all that interesting and the drama is petty at best. However, if the infrastructure is to your taste, this should... more>> be pretty normal for you!

SUMMARY: The MC of this story, Song Xingcheng, wakes up on the day of the apocalypse with a head full of novel content. According to this novel content, he was bound to be used and abandoned by the guy that he had a crush on. Of course, he wants nothing to do with any of it. He decides to adjust himself based on the mistakes he made in his dream. Which starts with exploring his cheat first (a game panel that enables him to slowly build and upgrade a city) and then teams up with the ML (He Qiashen), who incidentally also woke up with a cheat and novel content on the first day of the apocalypse. Working together, the two slowly build a city that can act as a reprieve for the people of their country.

THOUGHTS: Although fun, the story is quite flawed. The MC's cheat was too cheat-y. To the point that it restricted the future of humans rather than helped it. I thought it was cool at first, but more and more, it became evident that it blocked the progress of humans. (Actually, this reminds me of another novel, a BG one called "Apocalypse Lord", that one had the MC as a City Lord as well. I prefer that one though because the setting made more sense. It was an actual game in the end, so the city that was built without sustainability in mind was logical. As for here, I had to work hard to ignore it so that I can enjoy infrastructure T.T.) My recommendation, if you're going to read this, try to not to have expectations XD. Just go into it believing it's all a game. That way, the process may be a little smoother.

BUT OK. Enough about the cheat, there are the characters as well. TBH, I don't like the MC that much. The ML was fine, but he was also a bit boring. Their romance was also a bit bland since the ML was pretty much all in from the beginning. So yah. Don't read this thinking that the characters or the romance will make up for the world settings being flawed LOLOL. By saying all this, I make the story sound like it's very bad. But the truth of the matter is, I enjoyed it quite a bit! I looooove infrastructure stories. And no matter how flawed they get, I can't help but feel satisfied reading them. If you're the same, then there should be no problem with trying out this story. If not, then I suggest you stay far away pfft! As for my rating, the TL is currently unfinished and I read it mostly in MTL. Usually, I won't give a rating but this time, the MTL was surprisingly readable (80-85%). So my official rating is... 3.44/5!!! Looks low. That's because, content-wise, this is really a problematic story XD. Most of the points are based on personal enjoyment. <<less

This novel is Absolutely Great!!!

The Golden Fingers MC has is One of a Kind! Usually I would always Prefer Magical Space compared to any kind of a ability. But this Golden Fingers definitely Open a New World!

A Golden Fingers that could help people in Apocalypse without being Saint whatsoever, benefit both himself and other human beings, and being the secret boss/owner of the City!!!

Love how the ML is always gentle and doting toward MC. But never Overprotective and keep watching his back. Support him and making him being stronger together. They're basically Power Couple!!!

Not only because they both have a Golden Fingers, they also brave to fight zombies and being a Great Person!!! No one is Pushover nor Unnecessary Cruel!!!

When they finally get together, they're truly sweet. The Romance is not heavy, but also not small either. So it's nice touch!

Anyway I pray so hard the rest of the story is as Good and Satisfying till the end!!! 🙏🙏🙏 <<less

It was genuinely good until around halfway through, that's when it becomes clear that the writer lost interest in their novel.

The progress speeds up, it gets a lot less detailed, plot points are glossed over, others simply repeat several times, and the initially still acceptable logic gets lost.

From chapter 60 onwards, nothing makes sense anymore, the writer rushes from point to point, finishes them in two chapters, and even starts to "explain" things by stating that no one knows why or how, so let's just move on.

Characterisation, relationship progression, all... more>> of it suffers from the "I lost interest in my own story" fate. People suddenly OOC, some characters are just never mentioned again, the CP's love develops in one chapter although they never actually progressed past the "good brothers" state, which made the sudden romance quite strange.

Zombies have never really been a danger, the story uses the classic super slow, dumb as a brick kind of zombie, mostly in small groups, while MC's group is armed with guns/rifles, drives around in trucks and off-road vehicles, etc.

Later they develop supernatural abilities, while the zombies don't, so it's basically multiple Alices from RE + hundreds of people with weapons against low numbers of TWD zombies.

There's no suspense, no thrill, coupled with the collapse of the overall plot, it's hardly worth the time.

It's a pity, the writer had a lot of good ideas, nice characters, and hints to exciting future development, but all of it fell flat due to a loss of motivation and interest on their part.

Their final words pretty much confirmed this, they were out of ideas, and likely for a very long time.

Read it if you like city building and zombies, just don't expect more than around 30-40 chapters of somewhat decent story, everything after that is just a tragic mess. <<less

I give this 4.5/5 stars. The story is cute and short and loses 0.5/5 stars because of how it ends. Making you feel like there could have been more or a better way to end. 82 of 84 chapters are actually the story and the other is like the author lost the inspiration to make more chapters and just fast past the story or gave a resume of what they wanted to write to make the novel so it really seem has ended.

It's nice and short (84 chapters). It's a combination of an idle city development game and a yaoi novel, which happen to be two things I like. The romance isn't very dramatic or interesting. The MC is cute and the ML is devoted. You never see anyone being killed by a dangerous animal or a zombie. The whole plot, including the wrap up world tour, is resolved in a little over a year. The government is immediately destroyed by incredibly weak zombies who just walk like npc zombies and lunge... more>> at people when they can get close. We literally never see anyone involved with the government or military, and no one travels out of the central city for most of the novel. It's probably the fastest zombie novel I've ever read. We never hear of the villains after they're defeated either, and really those plans only get through the planning phase. It's half a hooplah for absolutely nothing. The laws also don't make any sense. The author's patriotism is weird, but it's understandable. The city management is controversial.

so overall romance for yaoi: 3/5. Nothing awful, but nothing captivating. The leads don't sound attractive and I don't like their personalities, but hey, they're not siblings and there isn't a harem, so that's great.

zombie apocalypse: 2/5 starts mild and then ends abruptly. Survival has nothing to do with the mains. The ML and MC never leave their neighborhood. The reader never sees anyone turn into a zombie. There is no zombie checkpoint.

powers :4/5 I like the type of superpowers the MC and ML have, but everyone else is so weak the plot suffers for it.

the "chosen ones" in other continents are not nearly as useful. It's like a guy who can fly, a guy who can climb walls. It's half a super hero, whereas our MC can rebuild a whole country, honestly, by himself and the ML can make infinite guns

Its... Ok. I dont really know how to place this novel. On one hand I sincerely enjoy urban planning and city development aspect of the novel. On the other hand, there are some parts that I couldnt stand (mostly the MC but this is a subjective opinion, the CP is unbearable to me around ch46 of the novel) the ending leaves me speechless (they really just did a jazz hands and gave a summary point for the ending huh) -- around the end, the logic chain is completely loose, although... more>> you can still enjoy it thoroughly without using your head, the carelessness in how things are handled made me really ?? Confused, amused and abit sad (not that serious dont worry)

Its still a fun novel overall for people who likes zombie apocalype + clan building... Id say if you enjoy OP CP with golden fingers then you might like it. Although some aspects are weak, I think if youre just enjoying city building it would still be a good read. <<less

A rather light-hearted city building apocalypse novel!

The relationship of our two main characters is just pure dog food. They are indeed a few annoying cannon fodders here and there but they are resolved rather quickly.

The ending twist is a rather underwhelming but it's a decent end.

Its a good novel, the setting is very focus on the development of the city ability of the MC, the romance was a little slow since they confesed the love by the middle of the novel, but it was good since it was focus more in developing the MC and ML ability and creating a city, and there was not dog blood or drama in the romance, even when the MC and ML meet they family (they family are bad guys that betrayed them) they resolved it pretty quickly, overall... more>> is a good novel. <<less
