Gu YuMian works as a zookeeper and lives a stable life. Until one day, when he transmigrates to the interstellar era which is different from what he imagined.

Hot microblog search: #Humans have been officially listed as an endangered species.#

The headline of the daily newspaper: [Annual salary is ten million, and there is no one to take it?! Mainecoon Cat Prime Minister said he offered high prices to recruit service workers for g*ooming, cat cooking, and manicure cutting, but no one has applied in fifty years.]

Gu YuMian: ….

Ten million a year? Coincidentally, he was a professional zookeeper.

Other anchors focus on things popular, fans and intrigue. Gu YuMian focuses on making cat meals, combing ErHa’s hair and little fox’s tail and feeding the panda cub. His live broadcast became more and more popular.

Later, Gu YuMian found out that the snow leopard he picked up was the Emperor of the Empire, the panda was a famous star, little fox was the chief of the biggest science institute and Erha was the hottest novelist in the whole world?!

Dropped at 54

It's not too bad... It's just soo repetitive! Cuddles, overly detailed cooking, lots of praises from an unexplainably huge amount of spectators. Very little progress of the main plot every other chapter.

Also The fact that the ML behaves literally like a 3 yo most of the times is for me a huge turn off.

It’s a very cute and fluffy story, with a great emphasis on cooking and the Cubs, but I couldn’t take anymore because of how pushy and immature ML acts (at the point where I stopped, c84).

Spoiler

Knowing MC will get angry with him because of all the lies and hiding, he tries again and again to push MC’s boundaries, including messing with his memories, alternating being domineering and cub to avoid being kicked out (because he’s an adult who can take care of himself and not, as he pretends to be, an actual child), ignores any attempts of conversation because he doesn’t want to deal with the consequences, and even opens a live broadcast out of nowhere without MC’s permission just so he won’t be kicked out because of his disrespectful attitudes. He’s childish and immature, and would never manage a healthy relationship between adults because of how spoiled and consequence-free he wants to act, and the narrative doesn’t condemn it - instead, it plays it as ‘cute’ and ‘playful’, and all of MC’s justifiable anger is immediately washed down as if nothing happened - because, after all, isn’t ML just a spoiled brat?

I think im going to drop this for now (at chapter 63) but maybe I'll pick it up again later.

I'm a little bored. I like stories that are all fluff! I like slice of life, and things going well for people with no real conflict. There are plenty of stories that I love that are like this (though I also like the other side of the coin, too.) But I find myself skimming this one more than reading it, by now.

I like reading about the MC taking care of the... more>> cubs, I do... but I think I've read approximately 50 chapters of the same thing. Somehow this man broadcasts 5 hours a day, and all he does is cook a meal... and then when they're done start cooking another meal, and then maybe a snack after. On futuristic stoves that take minutes to prepare things. Where is all the time going? I'm a little tired of reading about food prep.

Sometimes he brushes their fur. That's nice I guess.

Sometimes they eat at home. Sometimes out at a facility, or by the baths, or at the amusement park, but there's very little difference from one place to another. It's like sliding the cardboard background off stage and sliding a new one on.

The MC is nice, the cubs are nice. I don't mind the emotionally stunted ML taking his time and being deeply, deeply emotionally stunted, but I also wasn't reading this eagerly waiting for the romantic fluff. I like domestic fluff more, so the ML being a little bit... uh. Immature, and slow moving doesn't bother me.

I think this is for the most part well written and translated. I don't have any big complaints or negatives. I'm just... I'm bored. I think saying it's nothing but fluff is a bit incorrect. It is primarily a description of cooking food, which does not interest me. It's also commentary each stream on how unique it is that the viewer count keeps growing and it's the millionth time it's broken records or is the top three, now top two, now top one! I just wish that wasn't even mentioned because it doesn't make me feel like ah, yes, MC is getting nice things, it makes me think ah, yes, we're talking about this. Again. And the food. Again. I like fluff... I just wish there was a variety in the fluff. <<less

I started liking this story well enough however something put me off so much I've chosen to drop the story.

At some point the MC ends up with a panda 'cub'.

Spoiler

I say cub because in reality he's an adult that got turned into a cub and later regains his memories, it's a long story.

[collapse]

Now here's my problem:

MC figures out that this panda cub is a lost child and not an abandoned one. The reason he knows this is because the panda has a kind of collar that is supposed to show information about him (can't remember exactly but it shows that he has a family/parents). Unfortunately the information in the collar can't be read because it's high access only.

So MC figures that out and decided to look for his parents by going online to see if anyone is looking for a lost panda child (reasonable first step).

He puts in the word panda in the search filter and sees that any entries with the word panda can't be accessed by him because he doesn't have clearance for it (reason being pandas were protected due to reasons).

After that, MC does nothing to find the panda's parents. He doesn't contact anyone, doesn't go to the police, he doesn't look into it at all.

At one point he goes to a place with rich families only and says that while there he'll try and find the parents but he doesn't. They get there, he continues to cook, he doesn't try to like sneakily ask if anyone is looking for a cub, he doesn't try to get info about panda families. Nothing.

This is the part that really put me off though, one night during live streaming after eating he makes a wish that him and his family stay together/ will never be seperated, knowing full well that this panda already has a family.

That's what puts me off, his selfishness. He likes the panda and he really wants a family so he doesn't really care about the fact that his parents somewhere might be looking for him.

I don't know why the author would write the character this way, in fact I'm not sure she meant to but that's how it comes across.

For all intent and purposes this panda is a real kid to MC but instead of getting him home, he takes him on his live, he feeds him, brushes him and spoils him while making no effort to find his real parents who could be worried sick for all he knows. Like it's supposed to be seen as cute but nah, it really isn't.

Imagine finding a lost kid and instead of immediately trying everything you can to find his parents (who you know exists and hasn't abandoned him), you just delude yourself into thinking that this kid and you are family.

Had he been looking for the parents and then considered the panda family overtime, then sure, of course, he would have gotten attached, it's understandable, kids are cute. This however comes off as "Man so in want of family he doesn't make an effort to find their real parents."

Once again you need to remember that although the panda cub is

Spoiler

actually an adult.

[collapse]

MC doesn't know that. He thinks it's a kid. The whole thing just kinda put me off.

And I mean of course the panda will reunite with his family, the novel shows it'll happen but it'll be more out of luck and coincidence than MC actually trying to find them. I just think that finding the panda's parents should have been one of MC's priorities but instead it gets treated like a side thought. <<less

Okay so untill like 45 chapters I was completely satisfied with the novel, found it utterly cute and relaxing. Afterwards however, I became extremely bored and after the 80th chapter I barely even read the chapter, just skimmed through cause it was honestly boring.

Basically the MC does nothing but takes extremely meticulous care of the cubs and becomes famous for it and the snow leopard emperor falls in love with him.

I was here for the no brainer fluff and it doesn't matter to me that this novel doesn't have much... more>> plot to speak of. However this novel can honestly be summarised in 3 sentences:

  • MC does livestream
  • cooks food
  • and then miraculously shoots to insane levels of popularity.
And honestly, I did like that for some chapters but come on you gotta add something else to the plot too?

I would have liked it better if it was more down to earth with less op MC. I can't for the life of me fathom why people in the interstellar era who supposedly hate humans will automatically fall in love with this 'human anchor' especially when his content isn't even special. Like its praised to high heavens when the livestreaming content is just so mediocre.

Also I really can't fathom that the knowledge of barbeque will be lost? Really author?

The romance is also just barely there. It might as well be non-existent. So yeah don't read if you want more prominent focus on romance.

One thing this novel excels in is the childcare stuff and cooking portions. MC taking care of the cubs is honestly so sweet and so gentle. And the cooking descriptions really did increase my appetite so plus points for that. <<less

Tbh this whole thing just turned into a good documentary. I’m relatively okay with food novels but when you’ve got a whole chapter just describing how to make the food and the reader constant messages can be quite annoying sometimes. Don’t get me wrong I really enjoyed watching the people’s reaction.

ML is just a whole jar of vinegar and I think someone viewers in the novel pointed that out which I totally agree on,

the panda family is a nice touch. I liked how big wok and the others waited... more>> for MC to return from the business trip,

overall this is just a fluffy and heart warming novel to read in your spare time unless you aren’t a fan of food reviews and tutorials don’t spare a second glance at this. I advise you not to waste your time if this ain’t your thing, <<less

*This review is mostly affected by personal opinion so don't take it too seriously*

First, I want to thank Exiled Rebels Scanlations team who translated and brought this novel to readers like me.

Second, I think my progress get slowed down starting from c70. I got bored and I think the romance is too slow. At the start of the novel, I think it's got a great plot. With the addition of three cubs, it got more fluffy and I feel quite happy. My happiness got halved by reading a scene in... more>> which I don't like what ML did.
Spoiler

ML changed MC's memory (to avoid suspicion or something cause MC hasn't fall in love with him?). I don't think hypnotism is great, even if it was done for a good reason. Then ML also changed amusement park's staff memories so he can dance with MC... I don't think it's good for ML to be so arrogant

[collapse]

Third, for consideration to other readers who take interest in reading this novel:

  • 80% of this novel has cooking and food description
  • Mysteries got solved so slowly.... I think I want to bite my finger LOL
  • MC is the dense type in romance (I think)
  • MC has an aura (?) that make him well liked by all the beastman (?) in that world
  • ML is a BIG BIG VINEGAR JAR!! [added] I agree with some of the reviewers here
*edited*So I'm at c75 when one word constantly shows up and makes my reading experience uncomfortable then I don't know if I'm overthinking things but it makes my suspicion about racism problems arise (lately, I'm quite sensitive about racism problem because I recently faced it myself).
Spoiler

I suspect this word (aborigines) keep showing up because it's directly related to the novel and in reference for orc thingy so I will PERMANENTLY keep that 1 star off from this review (mostly because of the plot).

[collapse]

Okay, I REALLY REALLY AM DISAPPOINTED with ML's personality!!! He is shameless, arrogant, doesn't have a sense of propriety. From c82-84, it's a torture for me.
Spoiler

MC really really tried to understand ML's motive in lying to him. But ML's actions....... I think his IQ is the same as a kindergartener. I'M MAD!!! He even interrupt MC while MC was working?!! WTF!!! And his shamelessness in refusing to be kicked out by MC makes him opening MC's live broadcast!!! How audacious of him?!!

[collapse]

c90 is a bit better (but I still don't like ML).*edited*

Fourth, overall experience.... At the start of the novel, it's fluff and quite enjoyable. Entering the middle section of the novel, I got bored because of the repetitive story. I'm also quite mad about ML's action and ML's personality. When I read the peak section (entering the end section) of the novel, a bit of the excitement come back but I still skimming many parts of the novel. The end of the novel is quite satisfactory. At least, MC is not alone anymore. <<less

This novel is cute. I tried to binge read it like I usually do with already completed novels, but I just. Cant.

It kinda gets repetive. Almost every chapter is MC broadcasting how he cooks some food, the viewercount shooting into the sky and breaking some records while hes at it, , , its insanely slowburn too, ,

its okay when I read a few chapters every day, especially after a tiring and hard day. Some brainless fluff can rly be good.

i saw someone saying that the cubs are all adults... more>> pretending to be children and acting cute; but its actually just ML whos doing that bcuz the others are actual children (except maybe the panda), ,

anyways. Its cute. I like it. Its kinda repetive, but its okay once you stop inhaling the chapters lile your life depends on it, , <<less

very fluffy

if you want a story to warm your heart and just bring you up this is it!!!!!

it's not very plot heavy very light read, VERY focused on food, it's just a piece of fluff through and through

if anyone picks this up keep in mind it's a light story and the way MC makes people feel warm in the story was so well written by the author and the translators who translated it

it really just makes you warm inside reading it

If you love cooking novels, this is a good one!!

Reading this late at night honestly made me so ridiculously hungry I had to get up to make food for myself TWO NIGHTS IN A ROW.

As other readers have mentioned, there's no real plot other than livestreaming, there are no real challenges. MC is super OP with a huge aura of "everyone who meets him will like him" feeling.

Spoiler

The reason why is explained later.

[collapse]

One thing that came with the "zoologist" was his knowledge of how to groom animals, what tools to use, and what certain animals are able to eat/drink. Therefore, the food he made was more delicious than "un-edited" recipes than what the animals would make for themselves.

Spoiler

I didn't know cats were super into cheese, so the MC makes a ton of cheese-related recipes in the beginning.

[collapse]

TBH, the whole time I was waiting for the MC to share his knowledge of the right brushes, etc. Or partner up with some manufactering companies in order to improve the lifestyle of all these billions of anthropomorphized animals, but NOPE.

Also MC knows how to do everything (without looking it up) ; somehow being a zookeeper has taught him how to blend and make his own shampoo, hand wash, moisturizer, etc. #Impressed

Translation is edited MTL, some parts extremely confusing, but overall readable. <<less

This is a very cute story, is not complicated and I can't say it has a great 'plot'... is just a 'feel good' kind of novel and I have to admit that, even if at the beginning I was not not sure about it, I fell in love with it and is one of my favorites. It's cute and fluffy and the translation is neat and fluid.

Too precious. Will make you hungry and suddenly decide to buy the ingredients mentioned in the dishes made by MC. Pardon me, let me google how to prepare this chunk of bamboo shoot that ended up in my shopping cart.

The overbearing CEO-type ML is tempered by the fact that he's a cub hahahaha. The fluff is all warm and cute and will make you feel good and soothed. Go back and massage your pets, folks.

Waiting for the translation team to deal with the somewhat odd ending and extras. Kinda unclear... more>> what's going on there. <<less

It's a very fluffy and sweet novel but it has many flaws.

Reading this novel is more for peace and enjoyment rather than an in depth well developed plot. To put it simply, get comfy and enjoy.

Pacing is okay and the author touches base with large plot holes leaving only a few questions such as "Why do the animals copy humans when they hate humans so much?" There are more illogical aspects but the importance about them is quite small so I forgot about it.

However, this may not be the case... more>> for other readers so if you're bothered by the small inconsistencies don't read it. On the other hand, if you can ignore some of the illogical things, you'll be fine. The main focus isn't about those things anyway and is more on cooking and a heartwarming family.

Another thing to note is that the story can get repetitive; MC cooks, feeds cute fluffy balls, author inserts 3 live stream viewers praising MC, and everything ends in a calm and soothing manner. Plus, the author uses similar descriptions which emphasizes that repetitiveness. (It gets better later on but the format is the same)

However, it's a nice and simple read but definitely not jaw dropping (Even if my favorite animal, the panda, is featured in it).

If you're a foodie, an animal lover, and want to pass time you should read it. Not too much drama and you'll be envious of how sticky the animals are.

I think the thing I enjoyed most was the Utopia Amusement Park arc. Mainly because of the Mermaid and Dragon storyline.

3/5

Adieu and Enjoi!

P.s. I really struggled on my rating because I just adore pandas and the fluffyness really took my heart. But, I took more of a "developed story" approach to review. In terms of enjoyment, the story earns an A+ but in terms of story building and character development, it's a C. <<less

So, this is a transmigration to interstellar era story. Fluffy and light. At least from what I've seen until chapter 52.

I love the cubs, so cute and fluffy! MC also was good and kinda resemble a mother. The total of cubs under MC's wings, until chapter 50 was three.

Spoiler

ML (snow leopard), 24th Wok (kind of MC's descendant?), Artic Fox (Chief of Institute or something). So there's only the writer left, and seems like he's a wolf. A naughty wolf.

[collapse]

The pace was so-so. ML's human figure appearances were only a few times in the span of 50 chapters. And MC is kinda dense.

Though it looked like a cub raising novel, honestly, it's kinda like a mish-mash of raising cubs and live-streaming cook. Shrug.

MC was also kind of OP with his knowledge over raising animals, so, shrug. All animals love him, so he's kinda like a walking catnip. Something like that.

ML was a cub bully, which honestly made me speechless, I didn't know whether to laugh or face-palm. I pity those little cubs that were bullied by him. And he's the overbearing type, I think? Like to spoil the MC and so possessive of him? Ugh, maybe the typical ML? I don't really know how to describe him.

I haven't read past chapter 52, so this may change sometimes in the future. But overall, it's still a good read. Just, don't expect heavy plot or some action. I still haven't see anything even after reaching chapter 50, which is almost halfway of the novel. <<less

This story extremely similar to My Vegetative Partner Opened His Eyes in Anger After I Ran Away, but the focus is more on food vlogging and pampering his baby snow leopard ?, baby panda ?, baby fox ?, and baby husky ?. A lot of cooking stories focus on the deliciousness of the food, but this one totally adds a more atmospheric and relaxing mood, as another reviewer mentioned. The MC is focused on giving his viewers (and cubs) a complete experience of soothing comfort.

Light, fluffy and simple interstellar slice-of-life danmei, with simple plot, characters and writing style, thus easy to read and follow despite some bad translation. Very similar to "The film emperor daily live cooking broadcast", which has same content and structure but has better writing style and better translation. Both are foodie novels and I enjoyed reading both for what they are meant to be: simple entertainment fiction catering to my interests, not some profound statement on life's values, zoology, science or society lmao... Some comments were so delusional and dumb...... more>> yes... eating an apple and expecting it to be an orange can only be called delusional...

This novel is the very definition of 'home-sweet-home'. MC brings homely comfort and refinement to the awakened beasts of this interstellar era, who only knows war, science and tech. It is a slice-of-life genre with heavy emphasis on cooking food and on the everyday little moments that make life so enjoyable: eating delicious food in the company of your loved ones, a lazy summertime picnic, enjoying a relaxing bath, celebrating birthdays and going to the amusement park with your kids etc... Plenty of fluff and food, recommended for anyone who loves this kind of languid and lazy lifestyle. <<less

Note to self: dropped because boring, cute to begin with, then just cooking. Cooking outdoors. Cooking indoors. Cooking on a roof. Etc etc. And the entire premise of the “zookeeper” disappeared pretty quickly. Just so boring, boring, boooooring. No plot. And I’m glad I didn’t get to the point where the misogyny was overt (as mentioned by other reviewers).

So far it's very sweet story - full of sugar.

I am disappointed that the summary feels a bit misleading. The fact that MC was a zookeeper is almost irrelevant. This story's focus seems more of cooking in the interstellar over live-streaming. Which isn't bad since I do enjoy those stories too but a bit disappointing based on what I expected. Also, plot seems minimal. I expected something about the family drama behind MC but that hasn't happened... granted it seems it's only been a few days since MC has transmigrated... more>> at this point in the story. <<less

Another reviewer said the livestream is like lofi hip/hop and like yes, that is 1000% that vibe. It's like lofi girl is just drinking her tea and watching new year's fireworks and I'm just chilling watching this cartoon girl watch her fireworks and it's just yes.

But I still went 3 stars because like the rescuing lonely children and giving them family didn't do anything for me when it was as extensive a part of this novel as it was.
