Just another run-of-the-mill cliché novel with an overpowered MC, predictable plot, and generic side characters. Nothing stands out—same old face-slapping, fast cultivation, and forced drama. It's fine if you're bored and want something mindless, but don't expect anything fresh or memorable.

I honestly really want to enjoy this series. It's actually fairly good - OP MC, decent setting, good TL and honestly not that bad of an overall story....

But the intelligence levels of the cast just... ruins it.

Every single character is completely self-absorbed and borderline braindead.

... more>> Every. Single. One. - Honestly, even the MC is kind of s*upid, because he basically does nothing about every single person coming to their own incorrect conclusions about events.

Dude is almost killed by his own father in the opening scene because he didn't think to say a single word to prove he was still alive, after being attacked because he didn't say anything.

Then he's repeatedly attacked and threatened by the "original male lead" because again, he doesn't say anything, because the guy assumes (with zero basis) that he's after the original female lead.

Then he doesn't speak up when the guy is getting (rightfully) accused of (literally) trying to kill him and his companion, resulting in his companion's father just thinking she was making it up because she was jealous.

Like, there hasn't been a single event so far where someone hated/attacked/accused/threatened the MC where it was actually his fault. But at the same time, because he just utterly refuses to say literally anything to defend himself from the constant wrongful accusations, he honestly IS largely at fault for it all.

I do have say this though: The fact literally anyone in this series has a positive impression of Duan Yuqing is the biggest issue. The guy is literally an unloyal, self-centered psychopath.

And I just want to note this: I've read a LOT of CN novels, and a LOT of cultivation novels. I'm aware of the average intelligence of characters in them. It's STILL notably worse than usual here. You usually just have to deal with stuff like absurd arrogance, instantly resulting to over-the-top insults and then fighting/killing, etc. - But there's usually at least... some logic and reason to why the conflict is happening in the first place. Here... like I said, it's just people falsely accusing MC of doing things that literally never happened, and threatening him for no reason whatsoever, and when something DOES happen, everyone just ignores it.

If this eventually ends, it'll definitely shoot up to a solid 4 star - It's not "great", but it's also not bad... aside from the cast-wide "IQ Dropping Aura level 100".

Otherwise, it's your typical "reincarnated in a novel with a cheat system" type of story, and honestly, the MC's cheat system is actually surprisingly active so far - it comes into play even during fairly minor events, rather than just major arcs, unlike other check-in systems. Which is honestly a huge positive, as many cheat systems tend to be rarely present in many series, especially cultivation ones... I've read quite a few novels where the cheat system literally just straight up vanishes for 100+ chapters before. While sure, that's still possible to happen here... so far, it's WAY more active and present than usual. <<less
