Growth cheats? Infinite magic power? The ability to utilize all archetypes? What’s the point if instant death ends everything with a single attack?

High school senior Yogiri Takatou was on a school field trip when he woke up to a dragon assaulting his sightseeing bus, with the only ones still on the bus being him and his female classmate, the panicking Tomochika Dannoura. Apparently the rest of his classmates had been given special powers by Sion, a woman who introduced herself as Sage, and escaped from the dragon, leaving those that hadn’t received any special powers behind as dragon bait.

And so Yogiri was thrown into a parallel universe full of danger, with no idea of what just happened. Likewise, Sion had no way of knowing just what kind of being she had summoned to her world.

Plot was nice and all. WAS. It gets boring real quick. Its like your typical shounen manga/anime but in this case, its not the unending cycle of fighting, losing and getting stronger but its fighting and killing. Humor is not bad but its not good either. All in all, I got tired of this faster than watching the go bwah video in youtube multiple times

It's a 100% gag novel, so don't even bothered to find the logic behind their actions. I REPEAT; THIS IS A GAG NOVEL.

Just enjoy the absurd situation where our boke (ML) and tsukkomi (FL) are leisurely exploring this isekai (???) full of as$hole. Oh, maybe sometimes killing one or two as$holes who coincidentally were that world's protectors, but it's not really a serious problem, right?

I am not sure why this doesn't have higher ratings than 3.9

It is a good story but at the same time is a parody on overpowered characters.

And this definitely avoids the cliche Japanese main character lacking backbone.

... more>> Another interesting thing is soon into the story you will notice that MC has set many rules and restrictions on himself about when he shouldn't and should use his power which I agree with.

Overall I felt like this was a parody of OP character but at same time the whole story feels like a show of tragedy caused by MC as his only power is instant death so his negotiating power lack any impact. <<less

If you want to enjoy this novel you dont have to take it seriously because is a comedy/parody of Isekai troupe where MC is not OP, he is on another league above that to the point that he is inmune to the plot arround him. It doesn't matter if you are hero, villain, demon, spirit, god, devil or whatever, everyone who try to mess with him end up insta killed, no excepcions.

Anyway, it's pretty enjoyable, the premise of the author mocking most of isekai cliches is hilarious and the... more>> side characters and world building aren't a masterpiece but they are interesting. <<less

I really enjoyed this story until one point, but I'll be getting to that later. The story has almost every character act like a main character in a generic cheat/op isekai. ... more>>
Spoiler

I mean come on, a chef being able to make clones to help with cooking, cut through anything to help cooking, and more. If that isn't generic cheat/op isekai protagonist, then I don't know what is. Btw this is not the main character, just one side character, but most of them get similar treatment.

[collapse]
Their powers are crazy and you'll find yourself thinking, "that kind of sounds plausible, but why?" more times than you can count when it comes to justifying the powers their class gives them. It's not a bad thing though, it makes it more interesting.

The main character, for an odd reason, lets people try their attacks if he won't die from it. He has his own sense of values because he doesn't see himself as a normal human anymore. This means his reason for killing is often unsatisfying, especially because he can't undo it and it is his only form of defense, so even the smallest threat can mean death for the opponent. Now then, let's look at the part that made me rate it 3/5 instead of 5/5.
Spoiler

He starts with a whole class, kills a few who threaten to kill him. That's fine because it is easy to digest. But then around chapter 100 they start a death match between them all, and everyone in the class was killed at once by a bomb one of them created. Even the person who made it was killed. Was there a need for that? Especially because MC was about to kill the one who threatened them into the death match, and if that person died there would be no reason to fight. It wasn't entertaining, nor interesting. Of course the MC could have easly stopped it, but he didn't because he felt it would be spiting on the person's resolve to create the bomb. This is where his odd values really start to spoil things for me.

I get it, all his classmates had to die eventually due to their situation, but throwing them all away at once is just... boring. I would have much rathered he killed them one or a few at a time after they actively got in his way on his quest to get home. It just feels like there was so much missed potential there.

[collapse]
Anyways that's why I dropped the series, but I may come back to it. If you can put up with what I just said in the spoiler tag, then go read it, it's a grest story! <<less

Instant death..

Fufufu, One thing for sure, those harem seeking guys did not feel so good fighting this guy, all harem troupes? Nullified.

I thought it was a silly Idea, I still do (an MC with instant death is just mad) that means there won't be any actual threathening combats, but eh, I don't even know what is happening with isekais anymore.. Seriously 😂

This was a good decent story at FIRST

but like other Japanese novel out there which has a bad habit of not FOCUSING on the MAIN CHARACTER this novel has the tendency to jump from one point of view to another and the annoying part is point of views of perishable characters are being highlighted which is a very waste of time to read.

Why can't they just focus to the MC..

The instant death was one of the Japanese novel I love at FIRST but after stopping read it for a very... more>> long time because of lack of translator and now as it was pick up I was so lost of who's who in the story..

And to make it worse I can barely Understand what I am reading especially the part when He became She and vice versa..

For crying out loud be clear of the gender of the character if your translating..

After to much agony of reading I decide to bury this since Like I said no point reading further from this point..

After sticking with it this long I'm probably biased, but I'll give my take on some points;

Characters are not permanent, new and interesting characters are introduced and exit stage left extremely quickly in some cases, while others might stick around. For some this will lead to disappointment, I however supremely enjoy this because it gives the world a lived-in feel, people and events exist outside the plot.

No harem, even as of c113

The world and the characters are reacting to what is essentially (and referred to as, multiple times in the... more>> dialog) a force of nature that they are constantly underestimating. <<less

Good thing about this novel: This novel has an extremely overpowered MC who delivered instant deaths to Gods and Demons while sneezing/hiccuping and also able to say 'FARK U' to Newton's first law of motion. Also a pe*vert that will ignore female lead's protestations as he simply touched her here and there every once in a while.

Bad thing about this novel: The author is hell-bent on relegating the MC into a side -character with all those non-female-lead third-party POV contents. Dude, this novel is for showing the MC sneezing his... more>> adversaries to death, not for showing how EACH OF THOSE ADVERSARY being sneezed to death by the MC.

⭐⭐⭐ from me as of c107. <<less

Yup its okay and all but the only thing that always griping me is that the heroine's role is a straightman for the MC's jokes but every damn time, she is complaining for ages like a real *****. She isn't funny anymore. She is very annoying AF.

Edit: Her attitude is like pouring cold water to readers who started to like this story. If it was not for her b*tching then this novel would be great. Another 1 star deduction for being annoying.

I am not complaining about the TL. It is... more>> readable and only minor problems from the second translator. I am not those ungrateful people who only knows how to flap their mouths all the time. Why you all shouldn't be translating then? You are all taking for granted what's free and some people have the nerve to take a sh*t on the people they are given free. <<less

This novel was surprisingly awesome. In short, it's basically like Onepunch Man, but instead of trolling shounen series this one trolls isekai novels. Basically most of the people MC kills would be protagonists in other isekai novels, I mean you have s*ave harem protagonists, self-righteous hero protagonists, ultra-cheat ability protagonists, etc... And as soon as they meet MC (or anyone else for that matter) they expect him to bow his head to them and praise them for their achievements or w/e and you can expect what happens when he doesn't... more>> do that and they try to kill him -

Spoiler

they die, instantly.

[collapse]

For the most part, author took the advantage of the extreme contrast between how horrifying life is in the world MC was transported into (human life is worthless, country-level genocides everyday...) and how chill MC's everyday life is (since he solves all of his problems with 1 word) to maximize the humor in the story (and he done it very well might I say) but unfortunately it takes any sort of tension that might happen in the novel.

So, to conclude, I would recommend the novel for anyone that wants to see isekai genre trolled to it's maximum, a lot of humor and zero tension on the MC's side.

One thing that made me rate the novel lower than 5 stars (beside the zero tension because of insta death redundancy later in the story) was

Spoiler

When the 2nd translation group took over, they kinda screwed it up. Half of the later chapters are missing, so I had to scavenge on pirate sites for the chapters and those seemed like they were machine translated so it lowered my reading experience by a lot...

First of all, if you approach this novel right, it's going to be one of the most unique novels you can read. Don't treat it as your usual isekai story of this OP guy doing whatever in another world. If you look at it like that, this novel would be pretty disappointing. There are a lot of (somewhat) interesting plot threads that just "die". The action scenes are very sparse, and theres almost zero tension throughout the whole thing. If you're reading it for the cute girls, there are a... more>> lot of them, yes.
Spoiler

A lot of them also die.

[collapse]
There's also a lot of adventuring in this story, but things randomly happen and move too fast to really emotionally connect with it. I mean, it's a guy with instant death cheat. From the title itself, he's so OP that no one stands a chance against him. Literally.

Approach it as a parody, it's... just okay. It makes fun of a lot of tropes of isekai, with all the different kinds of MC-types we encounter throughout the whole story. Reincarnators, slow-life pursuers and so much more
Spoiler

(they even managed to sneak in a villainess at the end)

[collapse]
. But repeat that over and over again for 14 volumes, and it gets stale pretty fast.

However, the author makes it clear just what this story should really be treated as first: a horror story. I was suprised to learn that this didn't have the horror tag, when the whole thing was basically isekai lovecraft.

It's an amazing cosmic horror story. The story of what happens when you mess around too much with summoning otherworlders that you manage to fish out a thing so incomprehensible and beyond you. Something beyond puny human understanding. Something wretched and wrong. Something in the form of your average high school guy: Takatou Yogiri.

That's the true charm of this novel. You don't know what you're messing with. One day, you try to mug this kid, and its pitch black nothing. And there's nothing you can do at all. I think one of the best moments of this novel is when
Spoiler

he casually kills millions of people to kill this one guy permanently.

[collapse]
It really made you realize why there was this one sage who despaired when she realized just who was it they summoned.

I'll start talking about the things I really liked about the series:

Spoiler

First, I love how the author knows how this is a cosmic horror story. Once Yogiri kills someone, that's it. No going back. No revives, not even turning back time will bring anyone back to life. You'll have this long story about a character who's the MC of his own story, but no one is exempt from death. Even gods have to face their own mortality through his existence. This is nicely shown when gods divide themselves into two factions: the young reckless ones who cause a lot of trouble (like we mostly see throughout the story) who doesn't know of it, and the old mature ones hiding away who knows about it. The main lesson you could take from the novel is that don't act arrogant, because you never know just when you'll meet your end. No matter how strong, smart or determined you are, all are equal in the eyes of death.

Another thing I like is how MC's power work. They just die. No fancy thing happening, no splashes of blood, no heart attacks, no bleeding, no grotesque body horror mutilation. They just die. It feels way creepier that way. You know that thing you encountered is way too beyond comprehension.

Tomochika is also a good heroine to pair with Yogiri. Sure, a more humane heroine would probably add more story tension, but it would remove the absurdity of Yogiri's existence. With her, Yogiri can have someone to bounce off of during the whole adventure while keeping the horror aspect at full force.

It has vibes sort of similar to Traffords Trading Club, another novel with an OP MC.

Edit: This novel is now complete so I decided to update my review and make it more in-depth

An interesting conundrum in this story is how to make it interesting and tension-filled despite knowing the inevitable outcome due to the MC's overwhelming ability. His cheat is likely the most overwhelming of any cheat in an isekai and the differences in how they handle situations shows clearly in the story. Part of why I enjoy this story so much is just how varied and creative some of the skills and abilities are and yet they will inevitably end up dying due to some accident or from Yogiri himself. One drawback of the whole story is Yogiri's own lack of any want to romance the main female char - Tomochika but that is fine, they are together for the vast majority if not the entire series, at least I can't recall an instance where they weren't together and she provides some funny commentary sometimes. <<less

Honestly, the story itself is my cup of tea and I'd rate it a 5 were it not for the confusing translations that come up from time to time and the lack of chapters from V4C19 to V5C9 (V4C9 can be found when searching in Google). I personally love the main characters and love the premise of this novel, but as mentioned, translations and lack of chapters are something you might need to watch out for if interested in reading this novel.

For me, this series literally represents 'anything can happen', there's gods, sages, aggressors, divine spirits, dark gods, future tech, demons, dragons, etc. The reason why I rated this 4 stars is because the story is out of place, there's to much happening, Every single volume, we have 3 perspectives of different instances. We have Yogiri perspective, the enemy perspective, and a side character's perspective. I really don't care about the story building, character development in this series, this is just series that the impossible is possible.

A solid meh from me.

Rating this lower to offset the 5 star ratings.

Basically One punch man, but with worse written characters and shittier comedy. Doesn't work as a fantasy rpg isekai because it's impossible to build suspense and doesn't work as a comedic subversion of the genre because the humor is sub-par. 4/10 from me. Find something better

This novel is okay.

    1. Its just another isekai okay... checklist

    1. with op mc checklist
    1. annoying heroine checklist
    1. cliche villain checklist
Nah dont get me wrong, this novel is one of novel that im find fit to my taste, despite the list above. Want to know why? Nah here :

Spoiler

1. op MC.. with mysterious background and ability. and theory about his power is interesting to talk about

2. a lot unique character, but good point seems no harem yet!! All class get into isekai, and got various power.. character even ambitions that I find not in another isekai commonly. Sure, we got a lot plot goings on here.

3. Since we know MC damn op, we always know MC unbeatable, rather make this story boring.. its make it more interesting. since when mostly MC uses his power, we get the new clue what is his real power about.

[collapse]

-1* due the story feels drag on to me in v2 especially toward end.. however its still interesting to read.

Spoiler

This world has been invaded by japanese heroes with cheats. The sages was descendant of the old heroes or summoned japanese. None of the sages has good intention. Even the one who summoned the heroes were giving a first test for the LV 1 heroes... defeat a high level evil dragon. And there already 2 dead students (heroes) at the begining. Those students were students that doesnt have any cheat at all. The other students happily sacrifise non-cheat skills students just to stay alive from the evil dragon. And then the dragon just died after the MC tries to save big b**bs classmate by looking at the dragon and said "die".

The MC got mysterious power that can kill anything. In fact he could sense bloodlust, killing intents, and He can kill his foe's that hides deep in faraway dungeon. Even the MC's "family" were celebrating freedom from the world crisis just because the MC was transfered to another. They screamed "the world is now saved from that Monster!"

The Heroine was s*aved by the MC not because the MC's cheat. The heroine got different cheat from her ancestor and some alien robot.

[collapse]

But... later on, you'll get bored with this story. Even super enemies couldn't last 5 paragraph. His insta-kill "death magic" is not your average magic with low probability... it's 100% insta-kill.

I have a very mixed feeling about this novel. At start I thought that it's clearly a parody on all other transferred/reincarnated in another world novels. It has all the typical tropes, but not all of them are tied to main characters. E.g. S*ave harem trope is present, but it's the minor antagonist that runs it. Returnees are present, but they aren't main characters. Many things like that.

Why I said "at start"? Because once author starts trying too hard the gag factor gets blurred and it becomes just a somewhat... more>> ridiculous novel. The superpower MC has makes it very repeating. Enemy? Drop dead. Next. So seems like author noticed that and decided to do something about it - he added many new characters with their substories and POV, some have multiple chapters dedicated to them. And they are VERY talkative. Sorry author, but making readers go through three or four chapters of dialogues of half a dozen of newly introduced characters, only to get them instakilled by MC shortly after is incredibly dull. Pretty much because of that I was just scrolling the second volume rather than reading it properly.

The most annoying part? Author seems to be pretty good. If he was serious it might had turned out into a very interesting novel. But by the end of the day it's just a gag novel that outlived it's gag factor. <<less
