It's still pretty early so I can't say too much about the novel, but the synopsis only seems superficially accurate. The story initially presents itself as the op "Succubus Empress" who hates le*d stuff living as a returnee in a hunter/gate world. It sounds light hearted, which while the narration may be light hearted the story itself definitely isn't if you look at anyone besides the protagonist. First off, the world is this post apocalyptic hellscape barely being held together by hopes and dreams, where nearly everyone just sucks. Corruption... more>> and incompetence run rampant in an already ruined world. Secondly, "succubus" is woefully inadequate to describe whatever the hell the MC is. She comes off as this Eldritch thing trying to act out the part of the human she once remembered living as. But she does not think like a human, and there are a lot of cracks in her facade. As we see her internal thoughts it becomes readily apparent how thin that facade truly is, and the autor is really good at making her come across as something "other". Story direction seems genuinely interesting, and I'm only annoyed there isn't more right now. <<less

This whole novel can be summed up as benign Nyarlathotep messing around as the world burns around her, the writer is really good at portraying an absolutely horrible world where everyone including the monsters is miserable, but since the protagonist is an invincible, immortal entity that can't suffer from the consequences of her actions it doesn't seem as horrible as it really is.

A story with an OP protagonist and some decent world building. Unfortunately so far it deals with the issue that every single side character is flat and s*upid. It also has the typical scenes where power is shown off with cool flowery language; the author just can’t make it work though. The MC seems hapless and just does actions at random, doesn’t have any motive up to this point, and nothing really grabs at you. I have read and enjoyed works where there were needlessly showy scenes that are just... more>> there to show how cool and astounding the protagonist is, but they just don’t work for me here.

I also take issue with dull MC obsessed side character #1 saying that the MC would be justified (and capable of) overthrowing the government, and yet the MC hasn’t done it. I’m sure there’ll be an explanation for it at some point, but with the mc’s personality shown so far, the obvious corruption and ab*se of the government, it doesn’t make sense to me that it’s not the very first scene in the story.
