Insane. Traitor. Terrorist.

The title given to Joon-young, a soldier who fought a lost war. Performing the most devious last stand befitting his titles, his memories were sent to another world.

Now named Isaac, he seeks to live out his days in relative peace. But with his family wanting him dead he is sent to the Campus, the Empire’s greatest centre of Education, in hopes that he would be expelled and tarnish his position as the heir of his family.

He is told that the school will treat him as if he doesn’t exist, that he isn’t protected by its rules. But Isaac, or Joon-young, sees it differently.

There are no rules to hold him back from getting what he wants.

good plot and world building, nice pacing and also a unique plot in the isekai genre. Don't listen to idiots who have not bothered to read it properly, (what's the point of review if you haven't completely read the material available), anyways it's good and provides a new perspective with author actually creating a world that keeps on changing and people using their brain for once, it's meant for a more mature audience anyway, so yeah go read it, that's all

Amazing! My favorite kind of main character! Shameless, cruel, smart and quite OP in his field of expertise. I love Isaac! (151 chapter)

Edit in 2023: Finished the novel. I don't know how to feel about the ending and the led-up to it. It just seems a bit... convoluted to me. I don't know if it was written complicatedly for complicated sake. It's still fun to read, there was so much tension because of the political schemes. For those concerned about the Harem tag, don't worry about it. The romance... more>> in this novel is none existent. The tag is just for the ending. <<less

This is one of the greatest novels I have read so far with a reasonable MC. Most of his actions and thoughts are to be expected, not the childish ones, he does not care for what does not matter to him, like the lives of most people in the world like as would be expected of other MCs, trying to be a hero, save the world and get laid. Though it's frustrating as he does not care about girls at all but overall it's super great.

I don't seriously understand those who gave low ratings about this story. So far, it's good, it's great actually. It didn't show an OP MC who only thinks about the cliche stuffs like saving the world or what-nots after having another chance to live his life again. It's great that the author makes the character more human or realistic even though he lives in a world with magic. It's so realistic that it shows how mature the MC is as a former soldier from his old world who just wanted... more>> peace and would rather live quietly than to immerse himself into something like justice or trying to be the real MC.

Spoiler

"I mean, everyone would consider themselves to be main character but that fact suddenly changes when you're put in the stage called world. There's the protagonist: side characters, extras, villager 1 and 2, tree 1, and rock 1."

[collapse]

This is just one of the most realistic lines that you can read if you continue on reading this. This story has lots and lots to teach, about how cruel and cold the world is and how people can change rapidly from your side to the other the moment things look ugly at your side. The author did a great job on showing its readers these things.

The MC is not weak, if you consider him weak just because he got no magic or even became a swordsman, then I'll tell you, that magic power, being physically strong, having a divine back-up or something is not the only factors of being strong. The MC is strong with his wits and...

'He said she can see true nature right?'

He overlooked it for the first time, but he became curious after Kunette saw through Rivelia. What do her eyes see in me?

"What about me?"

Kunette looked deep into Isaac's eyes when he asked that question. Isaac could see his reflection in her puppy like eyes. She stared at him without a word, and Isaac smirked.

"If it's too difficult to say it, then don't bother. I'm not that curious."

"... Lazy."

"Lazy? I think that's perfect."

Isaac laughed once more, but Kunette hadn't finished speaking.

"... Lazy. A lazy, sleeping monster that has shackled itself until someone bothers it."

"..."

[collapse]

This means that the MC has still a lot more to give. Everything that the MC has shown was yet the tip of the iceberg, and even reading till volume 3, MC still sees everyone around him silly and doesn't take them that seriously to the point that the sleeping monster still haven't woke up. I recommend this as one things you should read.

One of my favorites novels.

The MC gets screwed over by various powerful people and he finds ways to screw them back in return. So we have a great situation where he would have just been a village chef with no intervention but he gains a tremendeous status over time.

Don’t pay attention to the 1 star reviews, sure the fact that the character doesn’t do much outside of scheming is quite frustrating sometimes but each arc is better than the last one if you know how to enjoy it.

Finally, except for... more>> the common "medieval isekai" premise, the world building is really original when he finallh learns the real power structure of the world.

Only bad point would be the translation speed but the flawless quality compensates for that. A definitive must-read ! <<less

I thought to myself "this is the story I'm waiting for" up till chapter 9. I even thought of giving it a 5 star as I'm very satisfied with the MC's character and behaviours, thinking it will make a great story if the pre-isekai scene is that good.

But no, things took a down turn. A vertical slope on top of that.

Just like other commenters have said, the MC's character took a 180 change after he entered the isekai world. From an experienced smart but crazy and don't care about anything... more>> not even life soldier to a think himself is so smart teen. And the story is outright sexist, to both gender.

I don't know, it feels like going to a Michelin-star restaurant with good interior and great expectation, but the taste of the dish is just tr*sh. Not average, but tr*sh. <<less

Our MC is a pessimist, crazy bastard, genius, and someone who lacks the fear of death. He did acts that gave him the name an insane terrorist and when he died he immediately is in action. He is apathetic towards most things but yet he has a contradicting trait and has a warm side to children

Spoiler

Already in a family feud when he gets there and when sent to the academy starts a business that no one else in history has done

Amazing.

this is such a fun read, you get unique characters and everyone has a purpose in this story not just 1 dimension flat board just for the sake of it.

world building in later chapters got more ridiculous but in a fun way and it's not just in your face plot there's a sufficient foreshadowing and built up.

every characters got it's own development, at least for the main cast and important side characters.

i read everything from chapters 1 to 117 in 2 days, it's that good.

I gotta say I didn't expect such a complicated story when I first started. I thought it was just a common isekai trope at first then it became something like kingdom building then conspiracies... secret organizations... hell... heaven...

Anyway it is a really confusing but surprisingly well made novel. Must read for selfish/chaotic neutral MC.

I created an account just to review this, please bear my english. Please remember this work is for mature audience who can differentiate which is good and bad, and what things can be implemented in real life and what will not.

The story is really good and so do the writing. It is hard to find any filler sentences that are quite common for novels on this site, as anything could become a plot device. The author is really good, and if this genre (mainly psychological, politics, dark) is ok for... more>> you, give it some time and the novel will prove its worth eventually.

Now as to why the low rating. This novel is made to be read one volume at a time, not one chapter. But I warn you that the volume endings will also contain cliffs

The main characters and the oppositions will keep doing things that are morally questionable or usually straight up horrible to achieve their objectives. At times, the justification and reward of such actions are written at the end of the volume, making the reader (at least me) feels really horrible after reading.

Relationship: Cutthroat, I can't think of any allies of the main character that are sincerely going to help him achieve his objective, not to speak of romance options. Here some gigantic spoiler that made me put the novel to rest, revealed at some point in volume 5 or 6.

Spoiler

The otherworld that he lived in have an organisation that specialised with dealing otherworlders such as him. There is a part in said organisation that I found very deplorable which have a task of becoming a lifelong and loyal friend maybe even lover of said otherworthers and prepared to betray the otherworlder at the most crucial times when they deemed it necessary. And yes, the allies of the main character is so full of those people. I see you kunnette (she is hot according to author's description, and is considered by some as romance candidate, but we never see her inner thought,). That Kunnette thing is just my prediction, take it just as some random prediction, I have not read ahead.

[collapse]

That in the spoiler is an interesting plot device but as I cannot stand betrayal (especially when the character have accompanied MC from the start of novel) and the slow release speed of the translation, I think I will suffer if I keep reading this when the translation is not finished.

Speed:

Chapters left = 177 side chapter not included

Translation Speed = about 4/ month on average. Might drop or raise (every 8.1 days on novelupdate release frequency)

Times to complete : 177/4 = about 44 month = 3 - 4 years.

Yeah, I don't think for this kind of novel I can wait that long. If you haven't read this one, do it at your own risk, cliffhanger for these kind of novel will hit really really hard. So basically, the whole thing that bring this down to 3 star for me is because this novel makes me suffer from insane cliffhanger for a long time. <<less

Very interesting main character. He has a nihilistic and pragmatic view that came about as the result of seeing too many dieing, having his worldview shattered and all his beliefs throw into chaos. As long as u get he is tired of it all. U will like where the author takes him. The world building may seem brittle at first and you may have to suspend your disbelief a lot scratch that u totally will have to disable some neurones to accept some of the events but most of it... more>> get explained around chapter 70 to 80. Good payoff and a fresh take on the reincarnated into another world where the fantasy world is not totally at the mercy of the whims of various transmigrators but much more proactive about keeping control of the evolution and state of their world. Thanks to the author and translator for this nice piece of work. Can be childish at times but gets serious for the righr moments. <<less

it's ok.

it's not bad, it's not great. it's like junkfood, you can read it if you have nothing good to read.

I'm really not sure how it got such a high rating...

... more>> translation: the translation is ok. it's not bad, but its also not perfect. it could use an editor to fix minor mistakes.

note that 30-40% of the novels I dropped were dropped because of low translation quality. so use this info to compare.

story: it started really nice, gives you some feels and makes you hope it will be a great novel, but it became meh pretty fast.

like most korean novels, japan is bad evil. whatver.

the plot is flawed, doesnt really make much logic most of the time, there are plot holes that the author tries to fix in later chapters, but it's still meh.

mc: should be the cool edgy lazy scheming smart MC type.

well, he is lazy and edgy.

and he is smarter than everyone else... but it's not really interesting when literally EVERYONE else in the world is about as smart as a 10 year old kid... im not even kidding, everyone is s*upid. very very s*upid.

little spoiler about how s*upid other are, around chapter 35:

Spoiler

there's a tribe of bear people, and they like honey. like, really really like honey. they are obsessive with it, you can make them do everything for a jar of honey.

but guess what? no one in this whole cruel world managed to ab*se this fatal flaw in the bear people tribe to use them. why? cuz someone else can offer the bears honey and they will switch sides...

and how does our genius MC solves it to keep his bear minions? gives them a contract "you must accept bribe honey, and then come to MC and report what they wanted you to do"

and then, I kid you not, EVERYONE there is amazed with how smart MC is for coming with such a solution

[collapse]

also the politics are pretty bad, and meh.

not even sure if it deserves the 3 stars rating, maybe I should have made it lower... <<less

After reading the 91 first chapts, the feeling I got was getting p*ssed in the first 50chaps since there is it feels the writer just doesn't want to give the informations about the circumstances surrounding isaac and the structure of the world... But still I kept reading since it wasn't too bad and I quite liked the comedy.

The second part gets a lot more busy as a reader as the school arc ends (there was almost nothing but 7character and the mobs in first arc afterall) where he gets... more>> his jobs and many different people gets involved with him/work/business. And when we get what's happening with all those report and he realise what's happening there, it brought me great entertainment!

I have great hopes for the rest of the novel, so much I felt tempted by MTLs, only to cry and just come writing this..

Spoil:Btw, the first 3 words of the description should be remembered well, gonna cheer for Isaac when 'the monster breaks all shackles' and rampage! <<less

The world is bad in the meaning that it's hard, but it's exactly for that.

The first thing that I thought was "dayum what a long intro"i nearly dropped it, I'm glad that I did not, the way that isaac stands up for himself, is cunning and is quite the mature guy with a mix of mysterie is good.

"perfect", "modern", and "meritocracy" are not words that describe the society Isaac is transported to, yet it is repeatedly narrated as such. It's literally a monarchy. MC's father can't marry his mother 'cause she's a commoner. A typical 'the entire world is against me' isekai. It's perfectly justified that they can hit the MC because he's only on campus and not an actual student but if he tries anything he'd be arrested. Don't bother

As an lover of code grass, this is just lelouche on steroids.

Compared to omniscient reader, novel's extra, returner's magic should be special etc ; this novel truly focuses on the out-witting and countering your opponents.

For those who want to might want to read this, the main tags are: isekai, clever/cunning MC, secret organisation, nobles/medeival setting.

It's strange that every Korean novel has the Japanese commit a dozen war crimes yet you could look at the top 50 Japanese novels on the ranking and not find the word Korea. That said besides the initial edginess the novel is decent, it doesn't stand out in any particular way so if you're after standard Korean isekai genre fiction this is it.

I will call it refreshing.

I have read a lot of novels with the clever protagonist settings but some of them fall to give them the charm or simply made them inconsistent in the whole novel, by taking actions that they will not take or attitudes that derivate from his former behavior without any explanation what so ever.

It's not the best of his genre but how the author made the MC made his way through the adversities gives me the feeling of Dungeon Defense (I'm not saying that they are similar).

I... more>> advise you to read a little more chapters because the first ones don't give a full scope of the novel but again like any novel until more chapters come we don't know if can kept it up with its own quality. <<less

One of the best novels for me. Stylistically it is kind of rough around the edges, but it's still nice to read. It seems to confuse people who require novel to be very orderly.

It's kind of novel where most people rate it either 1 star or 5 stars, in other words, best kind of novel if you don't bounce off it!
