Kenkyo, Kenjitsu o Motto ni Ikite Orimasu

It was something that happened while I was waiting for the day of the primary school entrance exam. I realised that I had become one of the characters of a shoujo manga that I loved reading in my old life, ‘You Are My Dolce’.

The role I was assigned was a character who bullied the commoner protagonist and tried to get in the way of her love with a rich boy nicknamed Emperor; a typical villainess rich girl, Kisshouin Reika.

At the end of the story, Reika suffered the Emperor’s retribution and even her family fell into ruin. With the villain gone, the protagonist and the Emperor overcame their trials and became a couple. And they lived happily ever after.

Wait, that’s terrible for meee! The manga ended there, but I have to continue living my life after my family is ruined!

The protagonist can enjoy her romance or love or whatever on her own. I’ll erase my presence so that I don’t anger the Emperor.

Eh-? The story isn’t progressing well because there’s no villain, you say? But I’m busy saving up money and studying so that I can live well after the collapse.

I really love this novel, but I've been super impatient and decided to search for spoilers

WARNING! IF YOU READ THE SPOILER YOU MIGHT BECOME LIKE ME AND WOULD INSTEAD GET TIRED OF READING IT BECAUSE MY MOTIVATION WAS "boom!"

AS THEY SAY "IGNORANCE IS A BLISS"

Spoiler

so at first I thought this would be the typical FL (MC) where she get all the male leads fall in love with her because she is "ignoring" them but it's the literal opposite, the male leads just think of the FL (MC) as some "funny and weird" and never gets a love life... ALSO The FL (MC) is a coward in the inside but in the outside she is the elegant girl

AND WHEN I READ IN THE SPOILERS THAT THE HEROINE OF THE STORY AND THE ML GETS TOGETHER EVEN THOUGH THE MC DIDN'T BULLY THE HEROINE, I WAS LIKE??? ISN'T IT DIFFERENT WITH THE SUMMARY?!?! OMG AAAAHHHHH ALTHOUGH THIS IS REALLY FUN TO READ, I KIND OF WANT TO DROP NOW.... I WISH I DIDN'T READ THE SPOILER.... AAAHHHHHHH WHY?!?!?! Like she doesn't get a love life and everyone around her gets into a happy relationship, isn't that just sad? Atleast let us dream author : (uwaa like the "beware of villainess" where the MC adopts a wolf and that wolf would become the cutest living being in the universe like.... Where is my cute ml.... Where is my romance.... I thought there would atleast be an end game for the MC but she doesn't even have one.... : (I just hope that in the next chapters (because this novel is in hiatus) that the author would atleast give our MC a love life like she is in high school, the place for romance.... 😭

I loved this so much to actually register here and leave a comment.

This is such an amazing and enjoyable novel. I had myself laughing so much at almost every chapter. The story makes you want to keep reading it more and more. I actually didn't sleep for 24 hours reading chapter 1-220. It was THAT entertaining.

I don't regret reading this despite the hiatus. It ended without much romantic development for Reika though. I seriously hope we get to read the actual end someday. Or like, it turns into a manga... more>> or anime with an actual ending but still faithful to the novel / author's world.

I love Enjou so much but somehow I can't really let go of my hope for Kaburagi. LOL. I just really want Reika to be happy huhu I wanna know what happens next but I'll just fantasize about it until there's an actual ending. <<less

This was an interesting, SUPER slow paced novel

The first person POV was interesting, and the novel kept my attention for about 150 chapters

It's pretty cute and sweet

... more>> But then the plot just stops, and the novel drags quite a bit

I mean they seriously talk about her weight for so many chapters

And usually I'm a fan of slow paced romance, but when the plot is gone and the male lead is RIGHT THERE, I wish it just happened already because there is almost no romance

Also the female lead is quite a coward, and the story is very overrated

I'd give this 3.5 stars, and there are a lot of better novels out there <<less

Introduction:

This is probably one of the most light-hearted and enjoyable novels I've ever read. I most certainly do not regret picking this up. If y'all are looking for a novel and looking back and forth deciding on what to read, look no more. I totally recommend this. However, if you are one of those readers who like drama and angst, this is the complete opposite of that. I would classify this novel as a slice of life. And a very good one at that. So far there is no romance... more>> for our single MC, however I speculate that the ML might be:

Spoiler

The best friend of the ML in the novel she reincarnates in. Like the signs are there.

[collapse]

This story starts off with the MC suddenly remembering her past life at around five or six. She realizes that she has reincarnated into her favorite novel as the villainess. And obviously she decides to avoid all the main characters of the novel, however this proves to be difficult as they all go to the same school.

I thought this novel would go down the cliche route where the MC ends up with ML of the novel but it doesn't seem like it'll be that way. Why?

Spoiler

As of current chapters the "ml" fell in love with the heroine. As a spoiler lover, I obviously read about this before I even began the novel and tbh I felt disappointed. But now that I have read the novel, there's no other way I would rather have it. The MC is hilarious in her interactions with the ml. The supposedly cold ML is actually just a love-sick fool and is constantly pestering our MC to do wingman things.

[collapse]

Timeline and Setting:

One of my most favorite things about this novel is the timeline and setting. This novel is an age progression novel meaning we get to read and be with our MC as she grows up. It almost feels like your emerging yourself in the world and I absolutely love it. This story currently has three arcs and that is the elementary school arc, middle school arc, and the high school arc. And keep in mind that this spans for over 200 chapters. So, in some ways, it'll feel like a long journey. There will be numerous of characters you'll be introduced to throughout this novel and so many fun interactions.

Now as for the setting, the novel is set in an elite school for the rich. This school is an escalator system meaning it has an elementary school, middle school, and high school division. So, practically, everyone has known each other since they were little. For a better picture, the feeling I get is kind of like a mix of Ouran High School Host Club, Alice Academy, and Oniisama E. In fact, I've read somewhere that the author actually drew inspiration from Oniisama e. Anyways, like this anime/manga, this novel also has a sort of exclusive society within the school called the pivione and of course our resident ojousama MC is a part of this society.

All in all, I love the world building in this novel. It really makes you feel as if you are in a different world and you're aging along with it.

Characters:

Spoiler

Our mc: Reika is absolutely hilarious. You'll never be bored with her narration and what goes on inside her head. She's a bit of an airhead at times but the good kind. It's funny how the people in school sees her as this untouchable person who they should not mess with BUT that thinking completely disappears when they get to know more about her.

Masaya Kaburagi: The "ml" in the novel she reincarnates in. Initially, he was deeply in love with a senpai/childhood friend, however he gets rejected. When he gets into high school he ends up falling in love with the FL and employs our Reika to help him win over the FL because Reika actually ended up becoming good friends with fl. Reika and Masaya bicker a lot because he is always pestering her to help him. Reika is one of the few females in the novel he actually interacts with.

Shuusuke Enjou: Masaya's best friend. In the "novel", he's supposedly the princely and friendly guy but in reality he's actually the type where you don't know what he's thinking or scheming underneath his friendly demeanor. So Reika is often suspicious of his motives and their interactions are just as equally interesting as the interactions between Reika and Masaya. I have a feeling that he might be the ML for our Reika. However, he has a fiance and I really don't know how this is going to play out. But I keeping thinking about when they were shopping together during the field trip. My intuition is telling me that he's the ml.

The fl: She's not a white lotus so rest assured. Wakaba is genuinely kind and friendly and she becomes good friends with Reika. She is a bit hesitant to interact with Masaya and is clueless about his feelings for her. It doesn't seem like she has feelings for the ML just yet.

Takateru Kisshouin: The oniisama and a 'in the closet' sis con. He is the calm and gentle type and cares for Reika.

[collapse]

In conclusion, I would recommend this novel. It's extremely enjoyable and you can't help but feel happy reading it. The pacing in this novel is perfect and you'll find yourself wanting to read more and more chapters. I also think the translator did a wonderful job bringing out Reika's personality and narration. <<less

The MC is very cute and funny. She has issues that are very relatable.

Spoiler

For example, maintaining the weight and school grade when one is lazy and loves to eat instead but still wants to look good in front of others. For someone who hates conflicts, the way she deals with them and the way they affect her health is very real as well.

[collapse]

Seriously though, even though she's very loveable, even though there are many lovebirds forming (some thanks to her help), the MC herself seems to be forever alone. Although...

Spoiler

... we don't know the real reason she's still single, by chapter 299, both Enjou and Kaburagi are weirdly... attached to her. Both in sentiment and physical sense.

Kaburagi does not seem to be as handsy with others but with Reika, he is like a leech. She's pretty much the first person he'd call, go to, kidnap (aka harass), whenever he needs someone to listen to him or play with him and so he pretty much harasses her LIKE ALMOST EVERY SINGLE DAY. He's still a decent guy though so he listens to her complaints and problems too, he even solves them BEFORE he kidnaps her from her friends to do his bidding. LOL. He also intrudes her time with her friends and self-insert the team shamelessly. Plus, there's a chapter where he seems bothered when some other guys seem close to her to the point they call her Reika while she still calls him Kaburagi and he calls her Kishouin. Honestly, if not for the fact he's with Wakaba (partly thanks to Reika of course), I would be wondering if he's not already dating Reika without both of them realizing it.

Enjou isn't as handsy. He's like the perfect gentleman. The way he deals with her and solves problems including those that hurt her is slick AF. The way he treats her though, the way he seems to try to spend more time with her under the pretense of making his "angelic" little brother happy, and the way he always has strange smiles when he is around his "fiance", it makes one wonder if he is actually ACTIVELY chasing Reika and the "fiance" is actually an unwanted pest.

Personally, it seems like Enjou would be a better partner for her but in terms of hotness, I'm on the Emperor team. The scene where he dragged her and tried to shield her from the Student Council is especially delicious!

[collapse]

Many fans including me wish to know the ending and who's her fated partner. Unfortunately, it seems this story has been hiatus since 2017 (if I'm not mistaken). Even so, try it. I don't regret reading this even though it may be forever on hiatus. After all, fanfictions exist ;) <<less

im just going to be straightforward here. The MC is WAYYY too s*upid, it’s really too much. I thought since she’s an adult mentally, she would be more cool, calm, and collected. It turned out to be the complete opposite of my expectations though. She’s really acting like an oblivious s*upid child considering she’s 20 something years old. I decided to give it a shot because of the positive reviews and good-looking summary but I feel like I really just wasted my time. I’m sorry if this is harsh but... more>> this is my honest opinion. <<less

This is a very fun more-or-less light hearted story. The main character is a little dense in some ways, but seems like she could be a real person, unlike some others stories I have read. The story covers her childhood quite extensively, rather than just skipping to what the manga was about, which I enjoy. The translation is very well done, and even manages to translate the humor and jokes well. This story has made me laugh many times. It isn't what I expected from the summary, but I like... more>> this a lot better than what I thought it would be like from the summary. One thing to note, is that even though it has been labeled as a romance, at this point in the story I wouldn't call it that. <<less

I'm shocked about all the 5 star reviews. I mean, you guys seriously enjoyed it this much? After I finished chapter 43 I was unsure to drop it or to read it past c43. So I came here and read a lot of 5 star reviews. Thanks to them I will be dropping this for sure.

Let me explain what I didn't like about this:

  • This novel has similarities to a diary. You read a lot about MC's thoughts and the story progresses like this most of the time. Very little interaction between characters.
  • Huge time skips between chapters. This happens a lot. It is like you don't read a coherent story, but, well "diary entries".
  • According to some reviews, MC doesn't get any romance even past chapter 200.
  • Part of the premise apparantly doesn't have anything to do with the story. I mean, it doesn't matter if she is the villain or not. The novel doesn't do anything with the "villain" premise. She could also be an ordinary transmigrator. Is this just clickbait? Maybe it changes later in the story though, but as I read until here and got the picture of the story "flow" and direction, I highly doubt it. Also the reviews doesn't seem to show, it will change in the future.
  • Nothing interesting happens. I mean, slice of life is totally okay for me, but I need some salt in my soup. Just give me SOMEHTING, ANYTHING will do. Do something funny. Do something creative. Why are there no funny misunderstandings? There is so much potential, but I have to read about our MC sneaking out of school to buy sweets etc. (Yawn*). Yeah, she gets chubby now, because all of the sweets. Therefore she does exercise now in her room (yawn*). Oh yeah, her brother told her, there are some strange noises in her room recently and she thinks it is a ghost, but what really happend is something different: She is just cheering for herself in the room and says "yosh" to motivate herself. So she is making the strange noises herself, but thinks it is a ghost. HAHAHA, very funny, right? (Yawn*) <- You get jokes and "funny" developments on this level all the time.
I give this novel 2 stars, because I got some enjoyment out of the expactations and potential for romance and future story developments, but as I read the reviews, this... more>> story will be exactly like the first 43 chapters for a very long time. Nothing justifies this long "build up" but the reviewers seem to enjoy exactly this. They apparantly don't need any "pay off". Honestly I really don't get it and I'm quite baffled at all the 5 star ratings. <<less

I love this series.

Though listening, or rather, reading about the other characters' love life while our adorable Female Lead is still single and having no love life in sight hurts my conscience. It's tagged as late rromance so I guess that's just how it is.

5/5, really enjoy reading.

If you like slice of life this is for you! It's just the MCs day to day life and nothing extraordinary but it doesn't feel repetitive. It is relaxing to read and makes me smile. I may not laugh out loud when I read but I laugh in my heart.

Characters are consistent in their actions and who the are. The MC is ditsy but I personally love her. I also like how any characters that have conflict are not hatefully frustrating and s*upid but actually add to the story rather... more>> than just being cannon fodder. Also, how not every male character falls in love with her just because she's the FL. It's kind of ambiguous if any male characters are in love with her and it keeps you guessing.

The translation is also done very well :) <<less

I APOLIGIZE IN ADVANCE FOR BAD SPELLING OR GRAMMAR

Omg were to start

Okay so I literally created an account just to Rate this

... more>> Let's start with our main character Reika

Reika has the typical goal in these stories to survive by not interacting with the Main lead or people close to him, typical right? But let me just say Reika is my favourite main character ever, why? Because she not an idiot and shes freaking hilarious, she is super unique and shes like a real person, she has her strengths and her weakness, she doesnt effortless thrive she works hard and sometimes she doesnt get what she wants, sometimes she messes up, shes funny and kind and hates confrontation but she doesnt let people walk over her. She doesnt have a harem or make everyone love her, but she does have friends and alot of people who love her or admire her. What makes this novel so good is the chracaters, their all so fleshed out and their all so human. So that makes it easy to relate to them, Reika doesnt have the best grades or the best looks, But I guarantee you she will hold a speacial place in your heart, Most of the time shes just looking for friends and way to enjoy life, The author made her so Human but also someone you can adore from the bottom of you're heart, Reika is my favourite MC tied with Rachel (I think that was her name) from slow prison life.

Reika isnt the only character in this novel I like, every character in this is absouloutly perfect, but another great Example for a great character is Wakaba the original games MC

I can not explain how happy I was when o relised that this novel wasnt going to follow both of the 2 cliches I hate the most in these types of novles

1 making the original games MC evil

2 making the reincarnated MC end up with the original games ML

I'm so happy they didnt do these cliches because I love Wakaba so much and I love her relationship with Kaburagi (original games ML) and her friendship with Reika

Wakaba is a character that you can not hate, Yes she is kind and fluffy and sweet and literally a big ball of sunshine, just like Reika, but she has character, She does get mad and she does have emotions I cant explain how but she is an amazing character.

Now I cant go through every character explaining why their amazing but trust me, this will be one of the best things you will ever read, it does get a bit slow at times but I love it with all my heart

SADLY!!!!! IT HASNT UPDATED IN OVER 2 YEARS ??? <<less

I really loved this. I never do reviews, but kenkyo kenjitsu is just that good. It's probably my most favorited villainess novel in the genre. Honestly, at first, I was first a bit turned off by the description because I used to personally like historical novels more than modern-day novels, (especially for villainess-related stuff), but kenkyo kenjitsu really introduced to me that modern day novels can also be really good too.

Anyway, although it's too bad that it's on a hiatus, I adore the characters and I love re-reading this... more>> over and over again like a billion times. Author-sama, please come back soon! <<less

I'm not a avid reader of WN and LN. It's only recently that I have gotten introduced to these kind of stories. I do admit that I was a bit too late to discover this world but 'If I was meant to see this world, then no one could've stopped it from happening'. That being said, this story is that I have been reading about give or take 3 days, is been quite a journey.

The MC is just living the single life as the 'Head of the Forever Alone Village'... more>> which is actually a little bit relatable, I mean there are a few crushes here and there bit they seems to be crushed down. Our MC is helpful for few people in the improvisation of their love life, even though (mentioned above) she is single herself. But you know "Coaches don't play".

I don't know if anyone is building any kind of ships here but for some reason I really want to the EnjouxReika ship to be sailed because he the one character that this shipper is not so able to see through. Personally I do like his younger brother seems like a cute little child but I swear I'm not a pe*vert.

There are a few interesting interactions with characters which were and which were not officially known. Our MC is really soft hearted, which is not a bad thing but it is also not a good thing either, works both ways. She is a simpleton and strong. She is really looking forward to staying alive, to the point she doesn't has a ambition or a goal besides living.

I have to confess even though I have read this novel but I really don't know Class Rep's actual name.

The story is narrated as a journal reading. Our MC is not the only one in this story, there are other people involved in this as well, they also have observations and their point of views, which makes me know about them.

When she came to terms with her new life, and realisation of her family's existence. That made me feel a little emotional.

She is very self conscious and is said a few times that she gains weight easily. The contrast of her inner self and what she actually shows outside is very good. Her encounters are hilarious.

Although she not perfect like every FL and MCs out there but the translation of this novel is flawless and excellently done.

I have had a great time reading. <<less

I don't ever stick to reading "slice of life" type romances, but this novel has to be an exception and a well earned one at that. It is funny because the romance in the novel is so.... different and completely invisible in the "conventional novel ways" but present in more abstract, almost thriller (and sometime sad, lol) type way. The comedy is genius especially in terms of how timing is shown and the characters are just everything even the mob ones. I don't think I have ever liked a MC... more>> so much or laughed so hard throughout the novel. I just hope that the novel resumes again and I can get the daily dose of Reika sama again. <<less

I love Reika's character. She's the best heroine ever.

Has the author dropped the novel? It's been more than a year since a new chapter got released.

If so, then I wish someone else would finish it, because it's a really good story.

Also, I'm desperately hoping for my Renjou ship to sail.??

It's a really lovely comedy, slice of life, otome novel.

The original settings (gets reincarnated in an otome game) is pretty common, but it's done wonderfully well.

Contrary to many novels of this genre, the characters aren't one dimensional. They're all really interesting with a complex personality and secrets.

... more>> It's just those characters that manage to make it really funny as well. The author often uses the difference about their public image, and what they actually are like to make us laugh.

The students, for example, show to the public this noble, graceful appearance that they're supposed to have as children of wealthy families in a prestigious school, but they all have their flaws.

One guy, for example, seemed like a scary thug-like dude to the MC at first, and yet when she gets to know him, she realizes that he's passionate about his little dog that he dresses up. He even sends texts to the MC as if it was the dog that was conversing with the MC.

Even if you don't like otome game novels, you might enjoy it. Except for the first few chapters, the otome game setting really is just background information and doesn't have a lot of impacts

Overall, if you're into slice of life, you should read it. <<less

A light, slice of life romance in a slow pace.

I forgot what chapter I last read this novel, but it is really funny and good for a light read. The MC is still quite childish despite being reincarnated but I enjoy it so far. Oh and I think I read up until 100ish chapter and still haven't found any romance for the MC yet.

Overall I like this, reminds me of gakuen alice except for the magic

I really love the MC. She is basically a normal girl who love eating. She tries her best to avoid conflict but still helps out her friends when they have trouble. The reincarnation doesn't give her any advantage - she have to go to a cram school since she can't remember what she had learn in previous life (well, she also wants to sneak out for snack). For me, this feels very realistic. I read a number of reincarnation novels/manga - enough to feel that I should start learning how... more>> to make shampoo...

Warning: don't read it with empty stomach. I appreciate translator's effort in putting references though.

Warning2: slow pace. If you don't like slice of life, just skip this story.

Spoiler

The story starts from primary school. No major time skip. Romance starts around chapter 111 when the MC is in high school 2nd year... Or maybe it's just my fantasy about that romance... This MC needs romance life! She is too good to be in forever alone village.

I couldn't. I couldn't not write a review for this novel. So, here goes:

AMAZING.

The novel in a word.

... more>> I binged the whole thing the last couple of days and I spent the whole time either smiling or laughing alternatively.

The MC is just too adorable. She's quirky, funny, a little s*upid and just adoooorable. She's in no way two dimensional and has a lot of sides to her that keep interesting you, and she never gets boring. Her thoughts and point of view are freaking hilarious and sometimes the way she thinks just will blow you away. Of course she has her shortcomings, but they only make her better and a little more realistic as a character,
Spoiler

she's a huge coward, and sometimes she does things that can make you feel like she's a hypocrite, etc but she sort of realizes sometimes

[collapse]
and they end up adding depth to her character. (Definitely not 2D)

The occasional chapters from other points of view are also really cool, and I ended up smiling the whole time when I was reading them. Especially the oniisama ones, I swear, they were so damn good.

It has it's own dose of drama, but it's so well written that it doesn't overwhelm, and neither does the comedy. It's a perfect balance.

Of course there is the annoying missing ML problem (it takes a very very very long time to even figure out who the ML is for sure
Spoiler

more than 200 chapters even
