Lighthearted and sweet, [Rich Heiress x Innocent Little Bodyguard]

Recently, Miss Li has been accompanied by a 17 or 18-year-old girl. Sporting a ponytail and tracksuits, she appears out of place in the Miss’s social circle.

Others ask, “Who’s this little sister?”

The Miss scoffs, “A little bodyguard my grandfather found for me. Probably to ensure I embarrass myself thoroughly.”

Later, the Miss not only introduces the bodyguard to her friends but also brings her to a family banquet, coming out in front of all her relatives.

Her grandfather trembles with anger, pointing at the bodyguard and asking, “What did I tell you initially?”

The bodyguard replies, “Protect her, watch her, and never let her leave my sight.”

The Miss gleefully takes her bodyguard’s hand, “Honey, I heard your promise.”

~~~~~~~~~~
Before Zhuo Zhi came down from the mountain, her master repeatedly warned her that all men are bad news and to stay as far away from them as possible. She was afraid that her carefully nurtured, delicate “cabbage” would be “arched by a pig”.
Six months later, the master came down the mountain to check on her and witnessed her disciple being pressed against a wall in a nightclub and kissed, her breathing ragged and her stance unsteady, a truly embarrassing sight.
The perpetrator was delicate and lacked physical strength, but with curves in all the right places, long legs, and a slim waist, she looked like a temptress.
The master slapped her thigh and lamented, “Turns out she was arched by a cabbage spirit!”
**Cabbage spirit: Implying a seductive and charming woman.
This one is actually super neat so far! I love our dear protagonists: Zhuo Zhi is our innocent and awesome little bodyguard, still naively dreaming of fighting for justice and fairness, while our temperamental temptress Li Qinyue is rebellious and clever, immersed in the dirty politics as a the CEO of an idol company. As her initial cat-and-mouse like fascination with Zhuo Zhi transforms into something more, our poor little body guard stands no chance xD. I like how the author makes an entertaining dynamic between our little leads, and... more>> still manages some subtle commentary about the entertainment industry and costs of power. The juxtaposition between our little bodyguard with her pure ideals and Li Qinyue's dealings as a rich, second generation s*umbag seeming heir. If you're looking for a charming read with really excellent translation, I highly recommend! <<less
Possibly a controversial rating but if you're looking for something sweet you can read and just enjoy their interactions, then this story is for you. But if you prefer something with more substance, then this story wouldn't be where you find it.
To start off, the ambiguous age gap between Zhuo Zhi and Li Qinyue is already eyebrow raising, considering Zhuo Zhi is just around 17/18 at the start of the story, with little experience in the "real world" whereas Li Qinyue is described as a worldly, possibly around her mid/late-twenties... more>> woman who enjoy extreme sports/thrilling activities (something we rarely see after they both get together tbh aside from her supposedly decent fighting abilities, which we also don't really get to see).
Adding on to the rather suspicious age gap is the dynamic between an employer x employee, which is almost always an issue, especially when Zhuo Zhi is practically directly employed to Li Qinyue, or to the Li family if we want to be generous about the situation. On top of that, they both seem to have 8th grade disease, immature and with illusions of grandeur and some of their dialogues are very cringe worthy at times. If your friends say half of the things they say, you probably wouldn't be able to stop laughing at the ridiculousness, so detached they can be from reality.
Some spoilers ahead, I can't say they're major spoilers since there's hardly anything major going on in the story but if you don't want any spoiler, then you might want to stop reading.
The actor barely commits to the "hardship" or obstacles they put for the main characters. At the first moment of actual stumbling block, Li Qinyue is quick to pull the plug out on her little life experience experiment, which is dissatisfying. There's hardly any real growth from her, although there's an attempt at showing her supposed emotional growth by her making the members of her nuclear family enroll in therapy.
To put it simply, Li Qinyue just comes across as immature, selfish, entitled, possibly a cradle robber, short-sighted person with illusions of grandeur. It's good that love is blind for Zhuo Zhi (maybe because of her young, inexperienced self!!) or else I don't know if anyone can realistically put up with Li Qinyue. <<less
The story is sweet. Not overly but enough that you get to appreciate two people loving each other even with polar opposite personality. Really highlight their relationship in contrast to the plot.
It's more on how Zhi Zhi came to see herself in a genuine relationship that sometimes pushes her to newer experiences and how Qinyue finds someone she truly loves even when that person is as rigid as Zhi zhi. Some chapters that are lovely and some that you just enjoy as you watch them grow closer. 3.5/5
