This is a story that becomes more likeable the more you read it. It brings the famous phrase by William Shakespeare '"All the world's a stage, And all the men and women merely players"' into sharp focus.

Rigid aristocratic lifestyles with so much posturing and rules it's exhausting. So many observances towards politics, formal procedures and etiquette causes a little boredom. A lot of explanation versus actual story-time or action causes the story to read a little like a textbook. I imagine an ancient dynasty of China was probably very similar... more>> to this.

After long, you grow used to this type of world and the story becomes more tolerable and less dull. Continue reading it and you grow to like it.

As expected of my favorite author!!! Wuwuwu it's so touching and sweet. Tbh, To be a virtuous life and Eight Treasures Trousseau, which are also written by the same author, are also palace drama and slightly similar to each other in terms of plot and character design. However, thus palace drama with the same author is different from the two. Although the three main leads are all loyal, devoted, and has an eventful background, I think, this story's ML is different when it comes to innocence. At least, although Jin... more>> Yang has a complicated and sad past, he still experienced some childhood naivety with the FL when he just entered the palace. Well, maybe it's also because this story started with the ML being younger than the two. About the FL, well, it's mentioned that she's also a transmigrator, however that's just that. No mention of her past life, nothing at all. It's not disappointing though as she really doesn't need her past life's experiences to live well in her present life. Now, another comparison but now between the FLs in this story, from TBAVW, and ETT, out of the three of them, I think the most carefree and mischievous is Gu Ru Jiu. The ETT's FL is also lazy and carefree but Gu Ru Jiu's laziness comes with her being pampered and loved by her family and the emperor. I mean, all of them were loved by the ML, but oy Gu Ru Jiu was married to her husband out love while the other two had an arranged marriage with their husbands at first, one without love but political benefits. Also, since GRJ was loved, she doesn't really have to use her brain that much in order to deflect schemes or scheme against others. It's not like she never did but she only do so if she wants to because she's very much protected either by the emperor or the empress dowager in the palace.

Anyway, it's also more peaceful here. There's not much bloody power struggle nor war. Though there's an attempt of rebellion, it died down even before being realized so I don't know, I can't say I like this more compared to TBAVW and ETT because I also like the two very much.

Most importantly, I really like the extra chapters. I like how all the loose threads were tied. None of the important supporting characters were left out (aside from the Empress Dowager), even Li Huai Gu and Yang Chuan Wei's ending were mentioned even if they aren't really second male leads. Well, the Empress Dowager's ending or to be exact, how she live her life and died isn't mentioned but at least, her life as well as her deceased children's lives were given justice, so I'm not very dissatisfied with that.

Anyway, I really feel touched with this story. Another masterpiece from Yue Xia Die Ying that is worth remembering. All in all, of course, it's a solid 10/10 <<less

I absolutely loved this story and another great one by Butterfly. Her stories are short and sweet. I hate stories that dragged on and on and on with no ending in sight. RECONMENDED READING!

I realy enjoyed this one! It is a sweet and short-ish story, without the constant fighting and turning the protagonists into idiots that makes other novels just keep going and going without end. This novel has enough chapters to tell everything it wants to tell and doesn't artificialy extend the problems just to get more chapters out of it.

The main couple are very sweet with each other and they both have supportive people on their corner. Really recommended if you're tired of abusive families and b*tchslapping that doesn't solve any... more>> problems. <<less

It was exactly what the summary said, a sweet story. No major misunderstandings, no major waves, no major face slaps, just a nicely developed fluffy love story. I did really like how the FL is not written as an op character. She’s not the most beautiful woman, or the smartest or the strongest; but she loves her family, is loyal and isn’t a pushover. May be a bit slow and slightly boring for some, but personally I think it was pretty good.

Once more, another great story from the author.

The pacing is nice, concluded everything properly. The romance wasn't rush or slow. Other parts of the stories like schemes and politics wasn't overly detail. Overall well done.

I love the focus on aristocrats, made me understand and value historical aristocrats in ancient china stories more. I don't know if it's intentional but every time I read of how smart the Imperial family are in slowly draining aristocrats, I laugh as we, the readers know that all this power they centralised had become nothing... more>> in modern time. Perhaps, it even made it easier for people to remove this big tree in the forest.

On another note, I feel like the transmigration part wasn't necessary for the story but I could see why the author would put it. Other than that, I also hate that there is lack of drama but it's because their love is so strong everything becomes nothing before it. <<less

Enjoyable light read! I would highly recommend, especially if you like the author’s other work. In my opinion, this book is underrated.. Most readers would commended well on TBVW or 8TT, the author’s two other work. I think this one deserves the same acknowledgment.

Some reviews find the plot boring, I don’t agree. But well people has different taste and opinions, so I’d rather you read first to judge for yourself.

I’d like to appreciate the translators too for delivering high quality results. Thanks vey much.

The translation was amazing, so big thanks to translators.

It was not bad and not that great story... Till the end I was not really able to like any of the characters. I just liked whole Gu family. But I didn't really care about the characters.

But if you are looking for not too stressful read it is good choice

Rather than a story of love, I think this novel focuses on the life of a couple and how their love heals the past (for the emperor). Definitely a good read.

I generally enjoy this author's works but this one was a bit boring for me. Everything is too easy, too perfect and the FL is probably my least fav by this author. She is so bland even though we're repeatedly told otherwise. Thankfully, the story picked up a bit after the middle and a few revelations peppered in later but it still felt like a chore to finish. You know how things will turn out after a few chapters. Meh. Some of the supporting characters were interesting but I wouldn't... more>> say anyone got a chance to shine. The Gu fam is any girls dream lol. Overall lackluster 3/5.

Translations by DOJ were great as usual. <<less

Wow, I completely loved this story. I think this is my second favorite of this author's works behind Ascending do not disturb - that story was perfection itself, while this one is a little less perfect but still very enjoyable.

I loved the characters. I felt they all has their own charms and felt real enough that I quickly was invested.

The amount of focus put on people looking to sneak into the harem was a little bit tiring though lol. No wonder consorts were so scheming. The number of girls in... more>> this story with ridiculous thoughts in their heads was a little much.

I felt bad for the male lead though haha. Most of the conflict in this story comes from people gambling on whether or not he's going to turn into a piece of human garbage. To be constantly doubted wouldn't be easy for anyone but it makes sense why it happened but if it were me I'd be a little upset at the lack of faith but I get it

I felt some things were a little bit rushed but nothing interesting was rushed so I didn't really care haha so it was perfect.

Slight spoiler - I felt the rebellion at the end was really haphazardly done considering it was the climax but I'm grateful that it wasn't overdone or it would have dragged.

I loved this story a lot. There are a lot of people who die though and some sad stories but I finished this story with a smile on my face throughout so I'm perfectly satisfied. <<less

Amazing story with amazing translation! As you would expect from Dreams of Jianghu. I am glad I actually waited for this to finish translating before reading it, the wait was sooo worth it! I really love the historical romance novels made by this author and how she adds a bit of conclusion or ending for the side characters. They're bittersweet most if the time but its nice that after the whole drama, we get to see or understand how they're doing from their own perspective.

I am so glad how things... more>> ended up for our eldest brother in law Gu Zhi Yu! I really felt admiration for this man and I am so happy he is able to find genuine love and happiness after what he's been through.

Hope to see more amazing novels from this author and translator! Till next time~ <<less

For once I don't mind the chapters being so spaced out. I come back to check on this every week or so to get updated but I'm not dieing over it like with other novel's wait times. It's a good stop in point between my other 10 or so reads (about 3 of which are updated daily). So if you're scared of the slower update times like I usually am, this one ain't so bad. Don't let it stop you from starting it basically.

This is a pretty calming read thanks... more>> to our calm protagonist which is why I think I can handle calmly waiting... Lol... Anyway, this novel takes it's time so when you feel like having a peaceful morning read with a hot coffee or tea or something this will keep that mood going. Also good to read before bed when you need to empty the thoughts (not that it's a dumb novel, it's just that calming). And yes, I know some of you are bored with it or will get bored with it but that is ok. We each have our own taste and own needs that we like met with novels, this one just happens to do the trick for many and I assume will do so for others.

So far at chapter 55, I would rate this 4.0, the content is typical of the author. If you read the author's other works, you can tell the immediate similarities (thus you will like this). Um...I would suggest one to read this if you are bored, or want a good new novel. It's not amazing to the point you cry, but it's not plain mediocre, it has its own grade. Edit: subject to change since I'm on 55

Really well written, highly recommended...!!

Loved the novel, the protagonist characters are well written have a really likable personality. There is no misunderstanding or tragedies involved its a sweet romance novel. Even though the female MC is reborn in the ancient era nothing is mentioned regarding her previous life, the FL has adapted very well to the era and has really good family relations. So it is a feel good novel.

Though I dont undrestand why this auther should always write a "lazy" FL in her novels? (not that I dont enjoy them, but I just feel like all her works are becoming a lazy FL with a wholeheartedly lovong ML)

The thing that I appretiated less comparing to her 2 other novels was that his love for her was unreasonable or at least I didnt undrestand why he should fall in love with a junior this much to do as far as not taking concubine and have a cold war with all ministers due to that... at least on her other works they were already married and rook the trone together so its kindof reasonable...

Finally if you are looking for a well written web novel which dont degrade tour dignity its a good choice!

Nice ! Very good feeling !

Better writed than Eight treasure trousseau, but less profound than To be a virtuous wife. Still the ML is lesser than the ML of Eight treasure trousseau and To be a virtuous wife, in term of shrewdness and more pitiful.

The author really did her best to keep what's made her success without repeating circumstances.
