Definitely a good story, but if you're one to quickly boot stories that become a dragging type of slice of life, then I would only read until they get together and then drop it.

The thing about slow burn stories (imo) when writing them is that once you get to the romance, you either...1. Finish the story shortly after. 2. Bring in the smexy times after all the s*xual tension (this story could not do that because of the lack of s*xual tension, for obvious reasons where our MC is still... more>> a minor). 3. Bring in or continue an exciting plot to keep the readers engaged in the story while also keep them pining for more romance. However, because the story is a slice of life, it obviously failed in all three options and chose an external option that wasn't quite the best.

So my final advice for this novel: It's a great novel, but end it after they get together, especially if you don't like dragging stories. Or don't start it at all, but I think that's a waste of potential. <<less

This is a fulfilling story because the reader also growing up along side the novel's characters. I like the fluffiness and the warm family situation in this novel. It's sweet. It's very slow in progressing with their romance because the story includes following the MC and ML growing up and never have I regret the day I was interested in reading this novel. I also like MC and his friends. They are truly cute and loyal XD

About MC's growing up

Spoiler

maybe because he is regressing into a toddler (5 years old at the start of the story), his memory is also being suppressed. He still has the feeling that he is familiar with something like deja-vu but he can't remember. My guess is his memory is what makes his body in the book world so fragile

[collapse]

ML life is quite miserable at the start. He is a devoted son to his father. I like MC and ML's way of communication
Spoiler

and how funny it is when at the start, ML always teasing MC by saying he is bad in something and by some chance, when other people heared it (either it's ML's father or MC's parents) they would refute ML's statement

i think the story would’ve been cuter if this was just the story of family.

i dont mind the idea that everyone just seems to love the MC as soon as they meet him. The interactions between the MC and ML are so cute, but the idea that they’re going to fall in love doesn’t sit right with me.

perhaps it’s cultural differences but I just abhor when the MC is (or treated like) a small pure teenager or a child while the ml’s are these mature older men.

so seeing how the... more>> author is constantly emphasizing the mc’s innocence and childishness in a novel where I know they’re eventually going to fall in love, it just isn’t rlly my preference.

i’d be inclined to continue this novel if they were to separate for a decade and meet again because I dont even care about age gaps between two consenting adults and at least their feelings will change, but from what I've seen I dont think that’s going to happen. <<less

one of the best read this year <33

in all honesty, I started this with the hope of a fun and sweet romantic story. But what I got was a story about family. More family and growing up with each other drama and less romance. When I realized this from the first 10 chapters, I decided just to go and see how the story would go. I erased the thought that I was reading a love story and just focused on the story itself, and hey what an unexpected read for... more>> me.

ok so I believe I need to warn the new readers or those who are quite interested in starting this. The exact age gap is
Spoiler

9 years

[collapse]
. The other reviews had already mentioned what age they started their romantic journey and I will not gonna deny there was some part that kind of made me uncomfy.

Spoiler

when the elders realized the relationship between the brothers, they transferred the guardianship of the MC to the ml. And there was this passage where he literally said "be my kid for the rest of my life". This happened only one time and it was in the extras so I didn't mind that much about it. Plus, the guy also cleared up that he wanted to take a different role taking care of the MC and not just a guardian so I moved on lolol

[collapse]

another thing !! The plot is so well-written. I don't know the others but I didn't find any loopholes and I wasn't left with any questions. Everything just felt right. The ones that needed to stay behind the scenes weren't forced to come up and that made the story even more amazing for me.

Spoiler

like where the kit of the MC from both worlds came from and where this person is. The author just mentioned that it is a monk. Im also quite curious about who wrote the semi-autobiography of xia ye (the ml). It wasn't a big deal and I felt like its better for it to stay like that

[collapse]

for the translation itself, kudos to u the one who did it !! Although there were some parts that I was confused of, e.g. Pronouns, and grammar, it's nothing big and could be understood easily. Plus the little note when the translator is trying to clarify some scenes, thank u so much.

all in all, the plot, the characters, the settings, and the entertainment it brings are all perfect for me. Not too much and not too lacking. Just the perfect balance of comedy and drama. Some, they might become a bit impatient like me in some chapters and might find that the romance is too little. Anyways, just give it a try, it will not take too much of ur time. (i finished it in less than four days, with school and work) <<less

This story was much better than expected! Recommend.

I expected a very slow romance, but because MC was so doted on by his parents, ML and ML's father it felt warm and fluffy from the start.

... more>> It's slice of life, but it had a nice flow and pacing.

MC is super cute. He is the little dumpling that everyone tries to protect and pamper. ML is very OP and hot. Their interactions are super cute. Their love is really beautiful. There is a bit of fantasy element in the end that explains how/why MC could transmigrate into ML's little neighbor kid.

I loved the side characters too. They created this warm environment for the MC to grow up. <<less

Slow pace but super sweet. There is no angst, so it's a happy book to read. It like you also join the journey with both MC and ML in their journey of growing up then to teen love and the growing old together. I'm happy MC also get a chance for closure in his other parallel life.

Worth it. Thanks translator for giving me a chance to read this. Also do check out the other book that translator had done.

This is a very calm slice of life, there's not much ups and downs and is kinda of soothing.

What I liked the most was the childhood years, unlike other transmigration/rebirth stories Xiao Yu is not a monster child, when he transmigrates into a 5 year old bun he loses his memories in the other world and actually becomes a child. The reason why he transmigrates is also fairly well explained.

This novel was a complete package. We have an innocent, endearing, loveable and hardworking MC and a dedicated ML. There were some villains that balance out the sweetness in the story and side characters that were equally engaging. There were a lot of moral in the story and no one was left behind.

Moreover, our MC is one of those few transmigrators who deemed his previous life important. He made significant efforts to make sure that his family was alright on the other side of the universe. His attempts to look... more>> for his granpa was so heartwarming to me. It showed his values and filial piety.

The ending was also satisfying. <<less

Adorable!!! I really liked the MC and ML as well as their families, Xiaoyu is a blessing. I really liked the pace, it's as if I'm also watching them grow up and take ahold of a better fate for everyone.

It's a refreshing read away from all the drama and the plot twist was a bit surprising. Might be slow paced but it was just right if you're looking for a light read.

Beautiful. It's so fluffy and it won't leave you unsatisfied after finishing the book.

It's a fluffy slice of life danmei and it's mostly about MC and ML's life; it has an interesting intake of transmigration. MC, unlike other transmigrated characters, transmigrated into a book he once read about his male God, X but instead of remembering his past life, MC forgot it, getting the mentality of a five years old toddle. Exactly the age of the body he transmigrated to. In this life, MC is in an alternate reality where... more>> the real him doesn't exist but he occupied a body of a toddler who has the same name as him. <<less

This is a bit hard to rate but I really love the relationship build up of the MC and ML so giving it a full five star. Just that the story's really slow and somehow some parts of the plot isn't that necessary. What I also love is, the story of Xiaoyu's past. I cried a lot when the story of him and Grandpa Tang was told. Tbh, I prefer the life of Xiaoyu in the past rather than his life when he transmigrated. It's just too bad, Xia Ye's... more>> not in it. Idk but it looks like Xiaoyu in the past has more of a strong personality than when he transmigrated, probably because he also lived in that book for too long that his personality has some changes. Anyway, this might not be everyone's cup of tea since the confession took place in chap 140+. I actually love Xiaoyu's family in the book too but sometimes they took much of the story than the main leads, although I understand that it's a slice of life themed story I just want more back story of Xiaoyu's past~

Still, this was a good read!! Binge read it for 3 nights, yes it took long since halfway through I was hesitant if I should read it completely or not but I was so curious of Xiaoyu's past so I held on. <<less

Super slow, slice of life, feel good story. MC, Tang Jinyu, is a sweet and lovable minor throughout most of the story. ML, Xia Ye, in turn dotes on MC as a reliable elder brother. From small to big, they grow up with an innocent intimacy until they realize a romantic love for the other.

Spoiler

When MC was 18 years old (in 2019), he found that he was sent back in time to 1999. He was in a sickly 5 years old body and living next to his idol. At this time he still had his memories from his past life but later lost them.

The story follows how MC develops a relationship with ML and others around him. MC works hard to overcome his body's weaknesses and becomes a pianist.

SPOILER...

...

Later, it is revealed that MC didn't transmigrate. He was actually sent to another world to be raised by another because his original body was too weak to survive past the age of 10. His maternal grandfather received a talisman from a monk to save MC's life and this talisman played a role in the miracle.

BIG SPOILER...

...

YESSSS, the romance is super slow in coming. The main story is 170 chapters long but the couple don't get together until chapter 144. So have patience and just go with the flow. 😆

3.5 I think this is probably personal preference, but imo even though it is a slow slice of life coming of age novel, it was splendidly written until we got to the romance. As I continue reading, I continue to lose interest. I'm probably heartless, but I feel like this romance is losing me for a lot reasons that I think are justified (by personal preference) but hm right now I need a break and if I ever get back to this novel I'll see and still give it a... more>> chance I guess. But for now, I'm tired and they kind of lost me. I even tried to read again after I posted this and even for the plot, I just don't care anymore. Hmm yeah I think this can be draggy at times, not just slow (which is totally fine if the reader enjoys it), but the problem here is I don't enjoy it anymore.

Idk if I'll read this again, but yea the romance threw me off for various reasons. Now I just don't care anymore. There's nothing technically wrong. The familial dynamics and friendships were the best part of this novel, past that I know it's bl but the romance is not winning me over. <<less

Not bad. Slow paced but it's fluffy alright. The translation does need some editing. If you're really particular about grammar and such, you won't get passed few chapters.

There's also the technical terminology and nature of work of the ML. Not everyone understands how software and online marketing works, add that with grammar issues etc. Many readers would potentially not appreciate the novel.

It's a feel good story but with really really slow pace. Things get dragged so much to the point it's a bit boring. I would like to recommend Mint Stained Shirt instead.

It's basically just watching a kid from 5 years old to his twenties, with such a supportive excellent rich kind family and friends. No drama, no tension, very little plot but it's ooze with positivity.

One thing about the MC tho, it feels like he never grow up and stay as his 5 years cute self.

It's like a coming-of-age, slice-of-life novel.

You almost get a play-by-play of everything that happens to the MC for the first 18 years of his life... (almost daily feeling).

Honestly, I would say the middle 50% of the novel was extremely slow and tedious to read (not sure if because of the translation). MC is basically the sweetest, most obedient, cutest, sickest, most cared for little child and that never changes.

Spoiler

I'm sure he could be 40 and his family would still carry him around, not let him drink too much iced coke, and not let him leave their sights for more than 3 days.

[collapse]

The novel also kind of has two main characters - MC and ML both have their own POVs and knowledge/events they keep from each other.

The author tried to stick to the times with the hacking/economic development but a lot of it was seriously hindered by the translation.

Although I don't want to discourage the translator (who is new), unfortunately the translation did not flow well in English and were frequently incorrect or reversed from what the author intended.

I say that with confidence because

Spoiler

after reading so many novels, and actually having a thorough understanding of CN, yes the language, it's easy for me to spot all the parts that are incorrectly translated because I understand the structure of the original language.

I haven't tried to MTL this but I might recommend trying it.

[collapse]

Overall, I would actually recommend reading the first 20% and the last 20% of the novel, because the pacing picked up near the end and there were a lot of very interesting mystery resolutions

Spoiler

the transmigration/timeline issue, grandpa issue, double lives issue, were very well addressed.

[collapse]

Translation got a bit better near the end. <<less

It's a fluff slice of life novel. Makes me want to pursue higher goals, be a better person, and to be more filial.

The descriptions are there to how his transmigration works, which was a huge plus. Everything was well connected and besides being more 'lucky', including being more sensible and obedient, his being a transmigrator did not make him OP. What's more is how his memories fade in the early stages of his life, that lets him have a normal kid life (which felt somewhat realistic).

Everybody was doting and warm... more>> hearted especially towards the MC. From strangers, to acquaintances, family members, and especially the ML who really places the MC in the palm of his hand. Mc's family was really OP. Main cast has great prospects. But it didn't deviate the MC from the right path (Considering the personalities of 2nd gens). The MC is well protected, confident, energetic, kind, obedient, and sensible.

It felt like a journey, watching them all grow up from infancy to a little bit of an after marriage life. That's why it's long. And also why some chapters felt dragging and boring. We get to see the development of both of them from being zero to successful.

Sure they have nearly 10 years as an age gap. And admittedly, there are some sentences where the ML continues to say that he took part in raising the MC. But It is not enough to make you squeamish, freak out, and hate it. You shouldn't have that right if you did not finish it, especially if you only looked at the tags & comments. Sorry if it's not your cup of tea, there are other stories out there you could read. We are shown a gradual process/development of their relationship. We are also not shown explicit content. The MC has known to be a fan and pursues him since his old world. In his new world, he has vague memories and continues to pursue him. Then treated the ML as a brother. Then it continually developed. They finally got together after 130+ chapters, where the MC has cofessed to the ML in his 17th year (We get to see also how our mc's memories comes back and discusses it with the ML near the end, as they connect the clues to find grandpa and the MC figuring out the reasons behind the transmigration). The ML planned to wait more till the MC was an adult. The ML also took great care towards the mc's health. It was also the MC that came out of the closet towards the family, and the one to propose. Everyone in the family and circle of friends gave their blessings, and some even didn't find it unexpected nor grossed out.

We get to know what happened to some, and we also didn't get to know what happened to some. But the ending has a closure. I just wished they could have expanded the extras and focused on some of the side characters too.

Thank you for the translation! The next buttons were continuous except for one chapter. Grateful for some of the pictures and footnotes, though some I had to google to find out. Also, It was a great experience to always find the comments of this one reader every end of the chapter. It's fun to read their extensive thoughts in each chapter, which truly made me feel that I'm experiencing this work side by side with someone and their immediate oponions each time.

The novel is a 2-2.5/5 for me. Thank you! <<less
