“Did you know? When a cosmic magnetic storm occurs, people’s fates might be rewritten.”

“For example?”

“Someone who was originally destined to die could have their fate forcibly altered, living happily ever after.”

“I don’t believe it. That’s too far-fetched. I know I’m nicknamed ‘Sweeping Star’ and have a fragile constitution, but I’ve worked hard to build strong muscles and put my all into work. Something like that won’t happen to me—I’m not going to die anytime soon.” By this point, Jiang Huan is already half-skeptical about the legend. “Are there other possibilities?… I mean, I’m already so unlucky. Shouldn’t I get some kind of benefit?”

“The wafer-thin paper characters you only see in your dreams might come into the real world. But they can’t let you find out about it. Your tin-foil-acrylic-PVC boyfriend might already be trying to seduce you.”

“Huh?”

To be honest, I had great hopes for this. I thought the sci-fi cyberpunk romance premise was unique for me, and the writing style was poetic albeit “wordy.”

But as I read on, my interest waned significantly. I rarely drop a book because I want to see every read to the end. And yet on this book, I simply skipped to the end after reading 4 chapters.

Final assessment: it’s got a lot of potential. But it really needs refinement. The author had a vision, but the execution fell short. It could... more>> be an issue with translation too, but I won’t hold it to them anymore because it’s an incredible and a painstaking feat translating long paragraphs and around 2k worth of text. So kudos to the translator/team behind it, thank you still.

Maybe I’ll come back and continue this someday, but now it’s not my cup of tea. <<less
