This story is like potato chips, not the best food to eat and not super filling, but still delicious and addictive in a guilty pleasure kind of way. If you like watching a couple grow from weak to strong with non stop face-slapping of s*upid greedy villains, then this is the novel for you.

One thing I find of note is that there has been ZERO r*pe or s*xual violence in the story thus far, not even for the female villains, which I find absolutely refreshing. The MC decisively kills his... more>> enemies and so far they haven't done any unnecessarily cruel torture or mu*der. I also find it refreshing that his wife, a "dual" (aka an omega/ger) is stronger than him and they have a very loving relationship dynamic, even if they are a bit too obsessed with each other lol. They barely even make any friends. Also I find the insect beast pet part of the story is quite unique among the cultivation novels I've read, so kudos to the author for bringing something new into the story rather than another fluffy tiger/bear/rabbit pet.

The downsides are: it's a bit repetitive, most characters are s*upid villains without any depth, like many BL almost all the women are villains, and not much character development in the main couple, let alone side characters (who don't tend to stick around long anyways).

It's shallow, but it's still an enjoyable read IMO. I still recommend it. <<less

This novel should have been called The neverending Q&A session with Liu Mufeng... Great respect to the translators for not abandoning this monster.

In general not bad but too long and each arc is generally a repetition of the previous one with the change of locations and villains' names.

Also positive female characters constituted to 0.001% of all characters. There were very few positive characters in general, everyone was arrogant, envious and overbearing and tried to harm MC &Co but some male villains were at least smart while female one were hopelessly... more>> s*upid. That irked me throughout the novel, tbh.

Still, I finished it (even though I had to take a couple of breaks in the process), so I guess it was ok. <<less

I swear to god that the author of this novel was being paid per word, and at around chapter 50 they had a financial crisis and just ended up with about 200 chapters of repetitive filler. The ending is also very abrupt. It seriously could be chopped down by two thirds and doesn't need to be 650 chapters long, the author was just being excessive to meet daily word counts as far as I see it.

Honestly, this could be a really good novel with some seriously heavy editing and revision.... more>> The novel IS completely translated (you just need the password, no big deal), but if you don't have hours to waste being utterly driven crazy by the bad parts of this story, don't bother with it.

If you can ignore the repetition, the heavy use of suggested s*xual ab*se as a plot device, the utterly brainless women everywhere that make you feel like the author hates women (a common problem in BL unfortunately), and the use of a "other third gender" to avoid having "actual gays" at the start of the novel, which becomes mostly obsolete later, but the third gender is still looked down upon to a disturbing degree. If you can ignore all that, it's a pretty chill read, no jump scares, no tension, some levels of teeth grinding at just how perversely s*upid some of the cannon fodder are, etc. Basically you'll either find it a brainless read or you'll hate it, but you have to wade through the first 250-300 chapters to get past the really irritating stuff. <<less

It's a pretty good cultivation novel if you enjoy that type of genres. The MC for me has very likeable personality even if a lot of cannon fodders were mostly used as foils and stepping stones. But for me I think he's been pretty realistic all throughout the nivel especially with the life experiences he's undergone. MC is a very filial person to return and take of people who took care of him first. His only obsession is with the ML

ML is also ruthless but compliments the MC really well.... more>> They deserve the happy retirement ending 😭😭😭

It may be a dry read if you find the plots repetitive or enemy motivations contrived but near the end is where rewards come into fruition.

Spoiler

My absolute favorite part is MC's Dragon Prince era. His adopted parents are amazing and their backstory heartbreaking 😭 yet them getting together was also worth it. MC really got astounding parents. It really begins to change up a bit after ch533 when MC recognize his new Godfather and completing his unfinished business in the cultivation world. I really wished we got more of this of adventures in the upper immortal realm. It's been my favorite parts so far. How they swagger their adopted family's reputation around. So much fun.

[collapse]

It has an overarching theme of resource distribution and geographical discrimination. Which are also obstacles that MC overcomes with luck and hard work.

Might comeback and add more to this. <<less

Villains is not much a threat, everyone get sort out pretty quickly, and 3 people deaths I am particularly abit sad about but that's it

Glad MC and ML got together really early, don't need those misunderstanding BS and don't how I feel or I am straight BS. MC know what he wants and straight out goes for it. That's a quality I admire.

We basically move one place from another, with frequent time skip, MC outsmarts everybody using Poison and other tools over more powerful enemies. ML protect MC for a... more>> good 5 years then was carried by MC all the way till the end otherwise with his personality he would be dead early.

Alot of fluff and sugar, alot of faceslaps too. Similar to I have medicine but roles are reversed and this is one sided balance where MC decides every decision made and does everything in the whole 600 chapter plus. ML serve as motivation for getting stronger I guess.

Alot of women in novel are bunch of b*tches, just falls for MC and MC rejects they want revenge that kind of plot.

Alot of men also subjected to being sodomized. Author tortured those s*um men who are against MC pretty good.

Overall MC+ML get stronger - People get jealous even nice relatives turn bacsktabbers + faceslap/kill. Move onto bigger stage rinse and repeat. Both MC and ML stay as they were when they are 18 there was no need for character development because it wasn't necessary all they needed was getting stronger. <<less

Because the novel has not been finished TL-ing and the recent arc is boring in my eyes, I ended up dropping this pretty quickly T.T This novel is very close to another novel I read. Uh... I think it was called "Spiritual Plant Farmer" something something lolol. The MC is a transmigrator (and a rare Gong!MC). The original owner of the body is a veritable cultivation waste (with five spirit roots) and a cannon fodder who is destined to die under the hands of the original protagonist and heroine. Fully... more>> knowing his upcoming doom, he decides to find a solution quickly. Not only obtaining the cannon fodder's fortuitous encounter (a magical space that has a spiritual spring and planting area) but also washing off his waste spirit roots.

In the process, he meets the ML and decides that he's the one for him. It's not really all that romantic, especially since they start off as 13yo (with the MC being mentally older -- which is creepy cause he proposes pretty early). I don't pay much attention to it, and was more focused on the external plot and worldbuilding. This is your typical "level-up" plot where the MC starts off in a low-grade area and slowly grows until he can make it to more energy-rich environments where he has more room to grow.

All in all, not a bad read. Though, if you're looking for a long epic cultivation novel like this, I recommend choosing "I have Medicine" and the "Legendary Master's Wife" instead. You can maybe come back to this after if you like the development of those novels and are desperate for more content hehe even if it's not quite the same quality.

OH! I won't be giving this a rating for the time being. Just because I didn't make it halfway~ But, for me, since I like this kind of novel, I would probably give it around 3.75 out of 5. <<less

Quite entertaining for passing time. Although as I go further, I am quite bored because there were too much brain-dead cannon fodders. But, if you like face-slapping and also revengeful protagonists, this one definitely will satisfy you.

The relationship between the MC and ML is very deep and moving. Unlike other cultivation novels, this one has a more pure and passionate love, is family oriented and it is not only about repeatedly getting stronger, revenge and defeating enemies. I like that the MC chose

to become the master of the plane instead of ascending and leaving his family behind.

I really love this novel, especially because of the romance between the MC and ML. The cultivation is also very interesting and even when the CP has to cultivate in seclusion for long periods of time, it doesn't make you feel sad because the author doesn't let you suffer through it. It's a good book and I am really glad that someone is translating it.

I’m happy I didn’t pay the reviews much attention for this novel! Seems like a great portion of the reviewers either only read a very small portion of the novel or completely confused this novel with another one, or even maybe they just wanted to pour dirty water on it, no idea which.

First of all I’m already over 200+ chapters in and this supposed jealously I keep reading about ive not seen at all, I’ve only seen boyfriends being protective of one another in life in death situations so to... more>> consider that jealousy is super confusing.

Secondly on the subject of how everyone turns into a villian... Well all I gotta say is in every novel I’ve read involving cultivation genre there are a huge portion of villains because it’s always about the strong rule over the weak and so always a ton of people wanting to be little or steal and kill for treasures and grudges and secrets... duh. Also anytime a cultivation novel has zeroes become heroes there is always a ton of face slapping towards the villains and previous back stabbers.

If there wasn’t this drama then what do people want to read about just boring facts about all the weapons or realms or herbs and pills. You must have actually fights and dialogue between characters.

I’ve noticed several people from the main characters family that treated them pretty decent in the secret realm which took up a large portion of this novel already. Of course there were more jealousy then gratitude towards the main characters but that’s the main point, if they were treated so well they would never evolve and want to go to other places they would just stay dormant and it would lead to a boring story in my opinion. <<less

EDIT: OK I'm really glad I finished this solely for the as*hole Dragon Emperor. He may have only been in the last like fifty chapters but he injected chicken blood into this novel and made it feel lively and interesting instead of just waiting for plot points to pass. I think that, as with most novels of painful length, this would have been better split into distinct books and arcs. That would make it easier to both review and recommend. As it is, I can only say, skip to after... more>> the Sea God's Palace. You'll miss some heartwarming and informative stuff, but you'll be starting at a point that's more genuinely kinda fun to read.

--

The whole time I was reading this, I was thinking of other similar but better stories, like Rebirth of the Supreme Celestial Being and Mistakenly Saving The Villain. Lol. Except with way more superficial dogblood (that honestly blows away quickly enough it feels meaningless).

It's a dreadful BL, first and foremost. I'd hesitate to call it such, except that male pronouns are usually used. The relationship is stagnant, there's nothing hot, and the characters and dynamics are honestly indistinguishable from a het couple except that the wife isn't unceremoniously killed like 98.9% of the women from this novel. There's even a boring baby who seems to exist just so they could have a heteronormative milestone and doesn't affect any plot. That said...

All of the criticism people have is valid, but I still couldn't help reading it even after it got boring. So it's moderately fun for killing time if you're someone into xianxia! I also found Legendary Master's Wife to be repetitive and dragging and full of holes, but I'm not sure I've ever seen a xianxia without flaws.

There were so many SO MANY points the author could have ended the story at and I would have been perfectly satisfied. Not only has this person clearly only met a few women and no children, it's obviously an only child without many close friends in life and weak family relationships. This kind of person, without any strengths, writing wish fulfillment about being intelligent and a prodigy, has obviously led a very mediocre life without any experiences or pursuits. If literally anyone else tried to stire this same story, it would be more interesting to read.

CG very obviously MTL this story with minimal editing, and I honestly can't blame them for the low effort because the writing was also so low effort. It's repetitive in language and plot. Although fast, it's unnecessarily long, and there's too many dull characters constantly being introduced then killed off after extremely one-dimensional attacks. What's worse is they all have terrible cheap names, simple and literal and forgettable.

Only the MC has any personality, I find it pleasant to read about scheming and analytical characters who enjoy collecting information and earning money. His wife is a collection of basic traits, fun enough but not captivating. At least he has some motivation in the form of familial grudges at the beginning.

The masters they find don't suck, at least, and several hundred chapters in Fourth Aunt still seems like she'll remain untouched in the bg. Queen Xiaoyuan hasn't gotten intolerable. Everyone else will disappoint you though. Out of left f*cking field. The author is trying to give you his trust issues and it's exhausting.

Overall I would not recommend this unless you really enjoy reading anything, don't hate genre conventions, and have many hours to spare.

I thought the initial concept was interesting, a waste cannon fodder transmigrator whose only notable strength is a very good memory contracts waste insects to eat his excess spiritual roots and stabilize his strength. As soon as he goes to the third continent, though, all of that stuff stops mattering. I like the alchemy-poison-anthropology approach he has to cultivation, but it would have been more interesting to see him spread the knowledge and insects and change the nature of the cultivation world and reconcile with his Wang and Fang family and build a wealth empire and and and sigh. <<less
