Married to a Fierce Wolf

Shi Nuo was sent to a private planet, the territory of an Alpha, who was to be his arranged marriage partner.

When the tranquilizer wore off, all that remained outside the window was the boundless starry sky.

The starship left him on a barren wasteland and hurriedly departed, not even landing properly, as if fleeing some ferocious beast.

In the distance, a beast roared, and the ground trembled.

He was alone in this wilderness; he was the only person on the entire planet.

In the eyes of the wild beasts on this primitive planet, a beautiful and fragile Omega was merely food, no longer afforded courtesy or protection.

As for his intended partner, he held no hope. The Alpha had already succumbed to his beastly nature, becoming like the other wild creatures, and was nowhere to be found.

Injured while searching for food, Shi Nuo was picked up from a pit by a giant white wolf. He closed his eyes, waiting for death. However, the fangs that should have pierced his throat instead sank into the gland at the back of his neck. The Alpha’s pheromones were injected, causing him to tremble uncontrollably.

The arrival of the only Omega allowed for the release of pent-up pheromones.

Shi Nuo saw the white wolf eating but dared not approach too closely.

Fresh, bloody meat was right before his eyes. He finally received long-awaited meat from the wolf’s mouth.

While Shi Nuo enjoyed his meal, the white wolf lay sleeping on the living room floor.

When night fell, it entered Shi Nuo’s room.

The inherently cold white wolf had no intention of giving anything away. If one wanted food, one had to exchange it for something else.

Later, Shi Nuo’s lower abdomen swelled slightly. He patted his belly, somewhat surprised. How could he have gained weight in such a place?

In the snowy field, the majestic white wolf returned with its prey in its mouth, its icy blue eyes cold and handsome.

Shi Nuo was overjoyed by its return, his eyes filled with delight at the sight of the plump prey. There was meat to eat again, and the price he had to pay for the meat was no longer a concern.

At the dinner table, the tall, sturdy, white-haired man bent the knife and fork in his hand as he watched the Omega, whose eyes held only the image of meat.

Theme: Only by surviving can one witness all that is beautiful. Food will come, and so will love.

Unsurprisingly bad and a little depressing. The setting is a mess, Shi Nuo's character development is wasted, futuristic elements clash with magical nonsense (crystal beast hearts, water purification stones, etc), and the author's attempts to justify or minimize the consequences of s*xual assault and r*pe while rewriting Shi Nuo's suffering into insignificance kill any goodwill a reader might have. The constant emphasis on Shi Nuo's submissive nature and his dependence on pheromones ruin any potential for "love" this story could have, especially as the ML is totally unrepentant and thinks... more>> "As for Shi Nuo's distress, he felt no remorse." The author later rewrites Shi Nuo's forced prostitution as "courtship" and tries to pretend his victimhood was a delusion, but this doesn't make any sense because like the last quote, we've been privy to Hugh's thoughts this whole time. No amount of rugged handsomeness or comforting pheromones could convince me that stockholm syndrome and s*xual s*avery is romantic. I know a lot of readers will forgive everything if there's a cute cub, but personally, I find using babies to hide a broken relationship behind fluff gross.

Seriously, when Shi Nuo thinks about his fate, being r*ped by a potentially beastified man, the author forces him to think s*upid sh*t like "It was legal and reasonable". Firstly, marital r*pe is usually illegal and even if it's legal in this universe it's still morally reprehensible, and secondly can anyone tell me that being sent to an abandoned planet at the edge of the universe to serve as either food or as a comfort woman for a 25 year old beastman with the consciousness of young teen is "reasonable". Honestly, I think that even though the author wrote most of the explicit scenes as fade to black, this was clearly written to satisfy their own fetish. The constant mention of Shi Nuo's distended stomach during any of the intimate scenes is so foul. Ick. <<less

It was unexpectedly good. Not phenomenal but good slice of life, however the beginning is rocky so you need to get past that. The emotional development was okay for the later part but the author failed to justify the confession chapter. Like I said the beginning of the relationship was rocky. I think the goal of the author was slowly falling in love while getting along.

Also, I suspect for the sake of word count author keep on repeating some sentences.

I wish it was longer and more developed.

This story starts as a survival story, slowly builds to a slice-of-life, moves from that to pseudo-romance, then actual romance, then business intrigue, and then finally a happy ending.

It's not bad as a survival story, there's actually quite a bit of detail about how the MC, Shi Nuo, gradually learns about his environment and becomes better at scavenging and foraging. If you ignore the facts about food spoilage and that he didn't think to farm at first, you might enjoy it too. This part wasn't too bad for me. Could... more>> have been better, but not bad. Later in the story the survival aspect is completely thrown out the window as the two leads end up...

Spoiler

Taking a hidden space ship to other planets, exchanging materials for supplies, and building what amounts to a self sustaining home. This was actually disappointing, as the survival aspect was one of the more enjoyable parts for me.

[collapse]

Then.... our ML, Hugh Elvis (this name is terrible btw), comes in.

There is a massive power imbalance between the two. SN relies on the ML for any food he can't find on his own, protection for food he can find on his own, and guidance on where to find new food. And in exchange he has to put up with being... well... it's partially spelled out in the synopsis, but it starts as sexu@l assault, and then progresses to r@pe. You can call it dubcon, but in the situation that SN is in he's not really given a choice unless he wants to die, which in my book qualifies as r@pe. And the ML never makes any effort to explain more than "equivalent exchange" until...

Spoiler

Chapter 50 or 51. This story only has 68 chapters and 1 extra, so that makes the majority of this time dubcon at best.

[collapse]

And SN is constantly anxious about this behavior, even going so far as to be depressed about his situation and helpless with his life. Not once during the chapters leading up that point did I feel SN was in a good place emotionally, only that he was good at finding the small joys in his life.

During this section is the slice-of-life aspect of the novel, which given the undertones makes the majority of it unsettling.

The romance comes out of left field because...

Spoiler

Up until chapter 50, whenever we get the ML's perspective, it's never about how he loves SN. Typically the ML thinks SN is too weak, doesn't fit his personal ascetics, cries too much, or it's just that he's the only omega available. When he finally tells SN that he's been doing all of those things because he loves him, I honestly was utterly floored. I felt like there was hardly any indication at all that it was real love, just lust and "equivalent exchange" in my opinion.

[collapse]

The business intrigue near the end of the novel ties up all the loose ends pretty well, but by that time there wasn't much left of the novel, so it felt a bit rushed. It wasn't poorly done though.

Given that it took so long to resolve the major... "misunderstanding" that wasn't really a misunderstanding, this wasn't a great romance novel for me. Honestly if things hadn't changed I would have thought this was more of a horror novel than anything else. I even had some concerns about b3asti@lity at one point, but thankfully it never went... too far. <<less

This novel was surprisingly good. The beginning was not that great, but as the novel continued, it got better. The novel doesn’t have a complex plot; there is a bit of drama, but those were quickly resolved. It’s mainly slice-of-life, fluff, and child-rearing.

Yes, the MC, at times, frustrated me because of his timidity, but that’s how his character was written. I do wish he was a bit bolder, and I think if the novel were a bit longer and showed more character growth, I would have a more positive outlook... more>> on the MC. Thankfully, the ML is not your typical alpha. His behavior can be explained and, to an extent, excused. His changes and character growth to accommodate his mate were admirable. He was abandoned at a very early age, and even before that, he wasn’t taught much, so everything was new and a learning experience.

For me, Hugh is a great partner, father, and provider. <<less

Cute!!! The cutest ever! The omega and alpha dynamic was perfect even with their contrasting personalities, and the pace of improvement in their relationship also made sense—not rushed nor too slow. It was quite sensible with all the circumstances between them and the love they lived. And the best of the story is ... more>>

their cubs!! I was imagining the situation and how adorable their first cub was, and oh God, it was so described so cutely I couldn't help giggling throughout the part where the cub was in.

It would be more best if the story was longer though it still interesting enough to keep going. And the translations are decent, so we could read it with so much comfort. <<less

It's new to me actually, usually story about survival in wilderness around ancient times not Interstellar. So a few things makes everything more convinient with the technology they have, the bottom life is not so miserable it's interesting. Personally I like their interaction and slice of life, slowly building an affection and understanding even though they have a few minsunderstanding. The technology makes the story not too heavy, as for their personality the bottom is "ordinary" as the top say, timid, and weak but he have a strong willing to... more>> survive. As for the top what can you expect from a beast that live alone for more that ten years in abandoned planet at least he knew they already married so the top action is justified not some random pounced, the bottom didn't even reject although his heart still against he knew too they already married.

At least if you want to read some fluffy, with a little foraging and cooking theme is quite good and also the cute baby, I like that the baby development is included in the story. Its a shame though I hope it would be longer, the end although clean feels a little rushed I enjoyed it though. <<less

Oh my god, these reviews are killing me. This is actually an exceptional story. The pace neither too fast nor too slow. It has almost zero serious drama, good world building, and great character development.

The beginning starts out slow, building up both characters and allowing you to grow attached to them. Then mellows in the middle as they grow closer through their daily lives. Then speeds up toward the end as things get settled and the past is taken care of.

I love the slow but steady character development.

Shi Nou starts... more>> out extremely timid and grows to be more confident, to the point that he can make his wants known, choose what's best for him rather than what others want, and be quietly calm and confident rather than making choices out of fear or a desire to please others.

Spoiler

Shi Nou gives his family a chance to reconnect at the end, but when he realizes they're still only looking out for themselves and the benefits he can get them, he promptly ends the relationship without much fanfare. He's not a drama queen, he simply sees they're no good and cuts them off.

[collapse]

Hugh Elvis starts out as a lone abandoned wolf, but he goes from being condescending and making excuses for wanting to be around Shi Nou, to accepting him, to learning how to be in a relationship, to growing more sociable and opening himself up to others.

Their pasts are explained and dealt with, and honestly, I'm happy this didn't delve into the drama. All those stereotypical plot twists were avoided and the story maintained a fairly calm and feel-good read.

Now, about the r*pe tags. There was no actual r*pe. Everything done was more or less consensual. Shi Nuo thought that he was paying for Hugh's help with his body and reluctantly accepted that. Hugh saw it as courtship, but during his "making excuses for his wants" phase, had given the wrong impression. Either way, regardless of whether Shi Nuo thought he had a choice in the matter, he didn't flat out refuse or show any signs of thinking/feeling he'd been r*ped. He was more innocently embarrassed than anything else.

Anyway, 5 stars. If you go in knowing this is a peaceful story and without expectations of much face-slapping (though there is a bit at the end), I think you'll be very happy with this break from all the dramatic light novels out there. <<less

I kind of feel like the current rating is lowballing this novel.

While this is pretty slow paced and very niche considering its plot, I'd say that if you're not the target audience then please don't read it only to come and lower the rating. Like, its certainly not the best novel, but at the same time it's not bad enough to be overlooked because of the low rating. It's an interesting, slice of life novel that follows an omega exiled as the spouse of a "reverted feral beast man"... more>> and while that's basically the entire plot, there is some sweetness in it.

if I had to pick one problem I had, it's the random rushing at the end to get them back into society and deal with the people that oppose them and are trying to use them.

I honestly felt like it would have been far more interesting if thy had decided to cast their family aside and instead change their names and build their lives from the ground up. The business that SN began in the last couple chapters could have been the cornerstone to their new lives and then it could have gone into a more interesting plot line of HE's family trying to bringing them back / kill them. At least in that way, it would have been less monotonous.

overall I give this a 3.5 on the high end and raised it to 4. <<less

I agree with everything the first reviewer said. In addition, I quite like this novel its a decent cute and heartwarming Slice Of Life story. The romance was slow, both MC and ML only confirmed their feelings to each other more than halfway through the story. But their interactions prior was still cute as they are considered married, just with constant (same) misunderstandings. The story is basically how MC and ML live their life in the primitive planet so a lot of searching for food, hunting and cooking and just... more>> their daily lives with additional cub later (So cute!). I like that author doesnt skip on the growth of the cub (I just wish that theres an extra of the cub after it has grown up) .

For MC, he has a character of weak and timid at first, but you can see his character growth as the story goes on since he was forced to survive in the primite planet.

For ML, he was kinda cold at first but slowly warms up and you'll realize how cute he is. He's a bit slow in romance because he was thrown to the planet since he was barely a teen. So he might seems childish at some parts. What I like the most about him is that although he was losing sanity, he never hurts or forces the MC (which is like a bare minimum but good enough for a danmei).

The ending was okay, a bit rushed since I think the author could've fleshed it out more but Im fine with it. Would recommend this story if you're looking for a sweet slice of life with fluffy wolves and child raising or a break from plot heavy, dog blooded novels. <<less
