A passable Wuxia novel, more or less generic in the genre.

Its a series of two half's though, so if you are like me and just tolerated the first half, the second part doesn't make a big attraction.

Whilst this is okay, it didn't really feel unique or stand out in the genre, to the point I gave up half way. MC had adventured through the local world to the top, and was now about to start over in the upper one, but I just couldn't find myself wanting to know how... more>> he would do.

The MC was just... a Wuxia MC. I can't even recall his name.

If you like Wuxia, this might be for you, but not really in an epic way I feel. If you want that, read Coiling Dragon. <<less

Okay read.

Good:

  1. Action
  2. Parts where MC is advancing.
Bad:

  1. Too much repetition. I wouldn't momd if author is just trying to refresh readera memory. But there is got to be a limit. A single situation is explained in 3. Different ways at the same time. All essentially point to the same conclusion. Every other line is a repetition. Without it 2/3 or the story length could be eliminated. Very poor attemp at omcreasing word count.
  2. Toooooo many lucky encounters that it's nor wvwn funny after one point. It's beyong plor Armour, beyond being op. Author just wants the MC to win, so they create a lucky encounter.
  3. World building is very chaotic with long names, messy power hierarchy. At one point, MC is a master of almost everything of every world.
Its a tiring novel. Would not... more>> recommend until and unless you absolutely dont have anything good to read. <<less

Very good novel, I love the MC's interactions with others, his relationship with his mentors, etc. However, I admit the MC gets a LOT of lucky chances, although he does work very hard to get to the pinnacle of martial arts. This novel isn't for everyone, there were a lot of boring patches, but it's definitely worth a try. Top 5 xianxia for me.

Generic Xianxia novel, but an entertaining read nonetheless. But has a disappointing harem with long separations. Towards the last 400 chapters or so, it went downhill, and the ending was below average.

About as straight-forward a story you can get in this genre. As this time we have Lin Ming, who is the lucky individual that happens to stumble across a "one of a kind" heaven-defying treasure, which kick starts his speedy cultivation journey. Through sheer Determination and the Deus ex Machina known as "Destiny"; he gets stronger, the world opens up and he inevitably gets s**ked into escalating blood feuds & full-scale wars. With a great deal of arrogant young masters, wagers and "lucky chances" thrown in for good measure.

Definitely the... more>> epitome of a typical Xianxia novel, holding every trope one can imagine. Even a Little {Insert Colour Here} pet companion, making this only worth reading if you're fairly new to Xianxia, as it's a solid read. One major issue I had is with how repetitive & long-winded the character's dialogue & thoughts are of this needlessly long 2, 200 chapter novel. <<less

I am super recommend you guys to read this novel. Holy sh*t this novel is GOOD! I know many dropped this novel because the enemies temperament kinda same.. Arragont, genius in the era (while they just Ant). If you read many novels you can call them Mediocre villains. But don't worry. This is only weak part of this novel, Villain temperament. As for others I can say it fine...

MC's characteristic here Is absolutely shattered my thoughts on him. I will applause authors.

I kinda bias Harem Genre. Because to me MC... more>> will dense AF, and marry so many womens until can't remember who they are after hundreds of chapters. So far 1k chapter, the Harem is decent they got potential.. As for MC, he is Good. He is not someone like YOUR daily Japanese MC, Shiny knights helping Big b**bs women... No. He is Goood.. He still his way, and I kinda like it. I like how MC start to developed after experience so many stuff.

Oh yes, this novel rule bend according MC wills, so The plot armour is thick..

The Plot. Well. It's decent. The emotion roller coster seriously on top. There are plenty climax or hype plots.

Just give this novel chance until 700-900 chapters.. <<less

This was my first novel that I got to finish from Xuanhuan, it is highly recommended although sometimes it is monotonous but it gets to catch you in a balanced way. When I knew there was a sequel, I immediately went to read, but it is not the same, it does not reach the quality of its prequel. I recommend reading the martial world since it is a novel where you see the effort of the MC, it would be good if you read it to the end and... more>> enjoy imagining that you can see from the "eyes" of the MC. <<less

It's a great read, typical zero to hero progression with an MC that knows what he wants and strives to get it. Kinda sucks how he continues to leaves his former comrades but that's normal in this genre.

Also try City of Sin!

Just finished this novel. There were some plots that made me annoyed. I stuck with it though.

The world building is great.

The harem is there, but not there. Meaning.. He does accept some women, but 95% of the story doesn't have any of the women in it. Author rarely even gives updates on them.

... more>> The flow of the main plot isn't bad. It is better than a lot of other novels I've read.

The MC has character progression, which is good.

The ending was ok. It wasn't great, but considering how so many novels have screwed up endings.. This one didn't leave a bad taste in my mouth, at least.

It's a good novel to pass time with. <<less

This is the first novel I've read to the end with a completed status. The author gives you so much hype at the beginning. Like how the world is so vast and the God beasts are so strong. But then as the story progresses, it seems like the world isn't even that big and the god beasts are not even useful, morelike theyr barely used for combat. The other thing is where the author gives so much hype about a dungeon because it have so many treasures but once the... more>> MC goes in, there's only one or two thing that he takes. The most disappointing part of all is the villain, and when I mean villain, I meant the last and final boss that the MC has to kill is so disappointing. Compared to other Novels, this final boss is so weak. If it was emperor's domination, the final boss of this novel coulda been killed by li qiye at 500 chapters at most. Thats why it's disappointing to read this novel after reading emperors domination. Nevertheless its one of my first novel that I actually read thru the end so I am cool with it. Anyway since the MC just got truly Op at the end I hope theyll show more of him in the sequel True martial world. I m thinking of. Reading tmw so I can see how much lin ming progresses cuz I don't want my time reading his character development goto waste. Its so disappointing when the author makes the MC truly op at the end of the chapter when you've been reading the dem thing just for that moment. <<less

Average, this word define in essence what you can expect from this novel.

The power ups are plenty and confusing, the romance is awfully written and the MC seems to love to be stepped on.

The world building is well done and the story is almost non repetitive (except the tribal/clan based society where the faults of the father are the faults of the son and vice versa).

All in all, bland story, bland MC who shine only by being a monstrous genius, (even this concept is blurry) -praise me plebeians... more>> -

Read it if you don't know what to read and/or are waiting for better novels to pile up releases. <<less

It was good overall. I loved MC journey, at least until just before the end. Haizz, I don't understand why authors fail to deliver a good climax. The ridiculous powerful at the end didn't really sit-up with me. The romance is good, and this MC is also mentioned in the sequel TMW.

I was curious when I read the summary of TMW, other works of this author, I read the TMW first because at that time the MW has not yet done with the translation, and then I stopped reading the TMW to first read the MW It was now completely translated, Now I have finally answered my question on who is in the purple card... and the only connection so far is that in lin ming universe the origin of purple card, but let skip that part about connection this both... more>> novel should not be put a label prequel and sequel, what I am about to review is the all in all story of MW. The start was rather interesting a bit cliche in the middle and the story becomes a bit repititive, and the ending....i guess it lacks the impact supposed to be an ending. I guess the author lacks the imagination on how to end his story... well I guess with the 2255 chapter the story got boring and I was really bored to end the novel...i always procrastinsted to end this because until the end part full of filler that should not had in there and just finish the story with an impact... well at least it all ends now. Soo...i guess I thank all the novel translator and the author not dropping this novel. Thanks <<less

Martial World is a standard Xianxia, but one that is written extremely well. It has all the tropes you would find in a normal xianxia, but manages to bring out a hidden charm so that even things I might find annoying in another novel are interesting here. It's not perfect but it is probably the best Xinaxia I've ever read.

It was an awesome binge read, truly. Good story, interesting characters

A few negative points though

1. extremely complicated toolkit, which was, sadly, half-forgotten/not utilized every so often which made it quite upsetting. For instance, battle spirit. The novel at some points can be repetitive, but there are mostly moments where I just get so hyped. Definitely check this novel out if you liked I shall Seal the Heavens, Desolate Era, and Against the Gods.

MC has a pretty large harem, but that doesn't really interfere with the main story as much as people think it would. The MC gets a divine treasure at the very beginning, but he doesn't really rely on it later in the story as much as he does in the beginning.

I gotta admit there were something things I saw coming (the women) and other things I didn't (the 'truth' about the ultimate plot behind this whole thing). That being said, in the second half of the novel it was the same;

  • Big plot, big enemy, big problem
  • Make break-throughs
  • Get have a little romance
  • Kill big enemy, solve big plot only to find it's just a minor part of a bigger plot

rinse and repeated about 4 times...I think.

What kept me going was probably my curiosity. I really wanted to know what the hell was going on with Shengmei and her past. Which I got and not much of a surprise here. The novel ends open ended and it left me with a feeling everything I read was just a prequel to True Martial World.

Have I ever mentioned I have a love-hate relationship with sacrifices? Makes me cry every time.

Decent xianxia story, I found the start quite good and like the MC personality. The story progress is a tat to slow in my opinion (compared to some other xianxia stories) especially in the later half and the author really spend to much time repeating himself - which is most likely why I find it to slow. Well the side chars are quite standard xianxia, all female chars love the strong and ofc eventually fall for the MC.

The bad guys are all clearly bad people who either follow the "evil"... more>> cultivating path or straight up don't like MC because they are jealous of the MC strength or luck with women. And ofc the repetitive with bad guy call stronger bad guy for help, and that guy call a stronger bad guy and so on.

The reason why I'm still giving the WM a 4 (more like 3, 5) is because I believe that the story got good potential and because I like the MC so far. <<less

Good story your typical Xianxia MC that gets an OP item and goes from tr*sh to beast. I would give it a solid 3 at this point. Lots of potential hoping to see where it goes from here.
