I'm just going to start by saying this: This is by far the best Chinese Novel I've read to date. If it weren't for the names all being Chinese, some characters' "extreme gold digger" personalities and the "most intimate" scenes being extremely glossed over (to the point of being entirely skipped at points, not even hinted at until after they apparently happened...), I legitimately wouldn't be able to say this was a Chinese novel at first glance at all.

Not only is this the best Chinese Novel I've ever read, but... more>> it might be the best modern day setting novel I've ever read.

Also, at least so far, it just keeps getting better - At least give it until chapter 100 if you're at all interested, as that's when I'd say the "proper" story starts, as MC doesn't even get into a proper relationship with anyone for a really long time.
    Spoiler

    (chapter 95...?)

    [collapse]

So, the MC doesn't just magically change overnight - The first 40-50 chapters or so are pretty much entirely his journey of weight loss and whatnot, and his mindset doesn't even really "mature" until the chapter I'm up to (and he'll probably still change more, as he still has some personality and mentality issues, it's just a LOT better now) - During the start, he's an overweight, timid, defeated man. He's given up on his future, given up on his first true love, given up on the people around him, simply hoping to some day buy a house and get married, with the only thing giving him comfort being this game he has on his PC, "Heartthrob Simulator", which he plays daily.

Suffice to say, as the title implies, the game suddenly "becomes reality"... but he doesn't immediately get everything. In fact, he starts from a WORSE position than he did in the game, with his starting stats all being lower than what you start the game with. And so, he "awakens a system" that slowly grants him the stuff from the game, and more. - And this finally gives him the motivation to improve himself.... which is a large part of what makes this different from similar stories - He actually improves himself. Loses weight, improves his mentality, learns fashion basics, focuses on skincare, works out, etc. etc. - Yes, he gets "magic bonuses" from the system, but MOST of his "improvement" is entirely real, just sometimes sped up by system buffs.

Being honest here? Up until about the point I'm at, I genuinely think he didn't even need the rewards he got from the system to achieve what he's achieved. He was naturally skilled in many things, naturally handsome, etc., he just... didn't put effort into the right places, and didn't have the connections he ends up making while pursuing random system tasks. And this is a large part of why I've been enjoying this as much as I have. His growth feels... believable, despite having cheats. And his relationships are... also believable. As are most characters.

MC is a playboy-style character, but unlike certain other similar stories, he doesn't just automatically win at everything - The girls all have their own desires and goals in life, and their own unique stories.

There's no blatant face slapping, (in the way you expect from typical Chinese novels, y'know. There's definitely some, but it's "genuine and believable" so to speak) no 1-note characters, no blatant nationalism, no weird racism, no "blatantly ignoring reality" plots, etc. like you usually see in Chinese novels. - Foreign brands, languages, cultures, references, etc. all make POSITIVE appearances. MC literally sits around with one girl speaking in Japanese, making anime references, for example. Which is like the polar opposite of many Chinese stories where Japan is portrayed as some evil villain.

The characters are... extremely varied, and split between "game characters" and "real life people". And when I say extremely varied, I mean it - There's
    Spoiler

a rich girl that has a hand fetish that is constantly having "solo time" scenes while looking at pictures of MC's hands

    [collapse]
    , for example.

The story doesn't gloss over really anything aside from the typical "skipping bed scenes" - And honestly... I actually have genuinely started questioning this Author's life experiences, and just how much research time and effort was spent on this novel - WAY too much is overly detailed. Like seriously. I'm completely convinced the author actually went through the experience of being an overweight loser that turned into a heartthrob, because every aspect of it feels legitimately properly explained in detail. It's kind of absurd. Like, you'll understand what I'm referring to here if you seriously read it.

At least up until where I'm at, this story feels genuinely good, with believable characters, good writing, good translation, good detail, and a fairly interesting story with a surprising amount of depth to it.

The MC accepts that he has "negative traits", and accepts when he has to give up on something. He's not perfect, and he understands that fact, as do the people around him. Which is... really rare for this type of story.

This isn't just simple "wish fulfillment". It's a genuine story. One I can highly recommend if you're looking for something with actual quality and substance, and one I wouldn't recommend if you're just looking for your typical "turn brain off and enjoy" wish fulfillment-fueled power fantasy. - While there's definitely some wish fulfillment power fantasy elements here, they're buried in a genuinely good story. So if you're here because you think this is another "simp coins" or whatnot, no, it's not. Not at all.

... also, uh, at the time of writing this, chapter 1's link goes to a different series entirely >.> so just go to chapter 2 and click back a chapter. <<less

Pretty fun read. Story of a fatty becoming a CN male god. He goes from acting like a simp to women to the same women being too intimidated by his status to be in relationships with him. Pleasant read. I recall wondering if there’d ever be any developments in the bedroom, but yes from 150 onwards he gets action. Maybe there are too many women, and maybe there’s a logic gap in Su Yu and Secretary Jin Underuing plots, especially as of the most recent mtl chap, but a decent... more>> read nonetheless. Would highly recommend if you’re into this sort of story. <<less

I have read many chinese novels of this genre, where the poor and normal or ugly MC obtains a system and becomes super rich and super handsome surrounded by women, but most of theme XT are simply not realistic, if those things really happened, then the entire economic system of the world would be devastated. But this novel is different, there is a somewhat proper story about where all those assets came from. And the MC won't become a male god just by taking a medicine or something, infact MC... more>> gains the assets by improving his conditions with his own efforts. Overall it's a good story. <<less

I came across this novel because the title sounded appealing to me, I have some experience reading novels like this and other genres and you could say that it is one of the novels that I have enjoyed reading. Although as someone added in a review before, there is a gap in the plot of Suyu and Secretary Jin. But despite this, the novel explains the background of the ML, talking about the change or origin of the system as well as its richness. I recommend it, however I will... more>> stop here, I skimmed the following chapters superficially and it will result in a dog drama that maybe I do not want to enjoy. Anyway, give it a chance.

    Spoiler

There is a female character at the beginning, the adorable beautician, I like her innocence and charm but mainly and personally I don't enjoy silly characters, at the beginning she is okay but I think that as the plot goes, it doesn't have any progress and I get quite frustrated by s*upid characters and protagonists. (-。-;)

    [collapse]

(〃▽〃) By the way, the configured ML and MC as well as the extra people are well configured, although you might get a little confused because they are diverse and have many names, hahaha. Bye, have a good day~ <<less
