Professor System has issued a mission: to rescue the gentle, kind and tragic protagonist shou of the novel “The Exceptional Furnace”.

Song ‘Scholar-Tyrant’ Qingshi: “Don’t worry, Professor! I can definitely ensure the patient’s recovery!”

In the Immortal Realm:

Song Qingshi praised from the bottom of his heart: “My patient is the kindest and most beautiful little angel in the world.”

Yue Wuhuan quietly washed the blood from his hands and smiled softly: “En.”

Song Qingshi swore from the bottom of his heart: “As a doctor, I will never covet nor take advantage of my beautiful patient!”

Yue Wuhuan took full and complete advantage of the doctor and smiled softly: “En.”

Song Qingshi affirmed from the bottom of his heart: “Under my loving care, the patient will never be blackened!”

Yue Wuhuan secretly hid his monstrously evil thoughts and smiled softly: “En.”

At that inextinguishable summit, upon thousand and thousands of soul lamps, he sat on the god’s throne of white bone, guarding that piece of stone.

“You are the only one in this world who treats me tenderly.”

“And so, you are the only one I treat tenderly.”

Scholar-tyrant Song was absolutely delighted: “Professor! Can I get full marks?”

Professor System exploded: “You fool! You saved the wrong person!”

This book is one of the most amazing books I have ever read in my life. This is a truly beautiful story about healing and love.

I really like how the MC isn't clueless in the story. If you have ever read Peerless Immortal Surrounded by Demon Disciples, you'll know what I mean (the MC is completely clueless). The MC is fully aware that the ML has mental health issues and yet he still cares about him.

Our beloved MC is one of the cutest and sweetest fictional people I have... more>> ever read. This guy didn't judge out beautiful ML for his faults and his past scars. He accepted them and even loved him for who he was. I truly admire that, especially because the author wrote him as a caring and sympathetic person, but he also had his dark sides. *Giggles slightly.*

The ML is a flawed and dark person with much hate and anger stored deep inside him. But, after all, he is human. Aren't we all? We have our flaws, our tempers, our... regret. But still, we push through, so we can see another sunrise. If the ML was a searching bird in the darkness, then the MC would be his guiding light.

Spoiler

I love the ending so much, and the plot twist was delivered to us on a silver platter. When I learned that the MC was a rock who transformed and chose to become reincarnated 1, 350 times just to save the ML made me sob.

[collapse]

Overall, this book definitely made my list of 'Books I want to erase from my mind just so I read it again.' If you stick with the book through its entire length, I promise you, you'll love it. This novel completely changed my view of the world; read it, I promise you won't regret it. <<less

I abandoned this novel halfway. The author is too longwinded and the progress is too slow for me. The theme has promise but the excecution is lacking. Some things doesn't make sense and the plot device is confusing. I don't know why it has the higher rating compared to Peach and The White Cat's Divine Scratching Post. But the author has a good grasp in handling the theme of ab*se which happens a lot in this novel to various characters. So, maybe that's why. People do tend to be touched... more>> on sadness and ab*se and if the healing is done good then it will note a good mark on people's book. But still due to that, the plot doesn't progress much which makes it leans more into a slice of life kind of story.

After I finish this maybe I will edit my review but not in the near future. <<less

I absolutely LOVED this novel, I don't even know where to begin.

STORY:

Was actually so compelling. You'd initally think it's typical transmigration, but the more you read the deeper the story gets, and NGGHH, the love story between the ML and MC is just *chefs kiss*. The yandere tendencies of the ML I think was actually well written, because despite the potential for it to be toxic, their relationship is so romantic with the devotion and love they have for each other. AHHHHHHHH.

... more>> PLOT:

AMAZZINNNGG. Finishing the story, it was sooo so satisfying and a perfect ending. I actually felt it tied up loose ends exquisitely. I felt so sad and empty that it was over and wanted to re-read it almost immediately or find another book to help me fill the emptiness.

OVERALL:

10 out of 5 xD I don't even know how to hype this up even more. One of my absolute favourites. <<less

I read this once previously about a year ago and dnfed at around the chapter when An Long visited the Medicine Valley for the first time.

I really wish I hadn't because this is SOOOO GOOD.

Very angsty but also very funny, just how I like.

... more>> I do wish we could have gotten more extras about the little white snake, An Long and the phoenix's escapades. It would've been fun.

The bio of the story is but a little part of the whole story. Almost negligible to be honest. I expected a different story due to the description a d was thoroughly surprised. <<less

First, I want to give a big shout out to the translators and editors (at Chrysanthemumgarden) for translating this novel. This novel with all sorts of idioms and terminology was translated to perfection. Meaning the flow was amazing, the sentence structures and even the wordings really brought out the emotions in the novel.

Going back to the novel itself, I cried my eyes out at the first few chapters. I felt disgusted at everyone who had treated ML horribly and hated how the world just set and pride themself on the... more>> disgusting s*avery logic.

The relationship between the MC & ML was truly one of a kind. To be honest I felt MC being a little lackluster at the beginning because although he is good at everything and cares for ML a lot, his emotional intelligence was lacking. However, I came to find out MC was actually just a Pebble/white stone cultivated in fire which gave him his soul and intelligence. No wonder! It made sense now and truly made me think twice of MC. Everything about this novel was well written and crafted. Truly amazing gem to read this! <<less

I loved the story, I now have another favorite novel!! I've always liked the oblivious protagonists shou x extremely in love mentally ill gong yet can never find a nice novel with this trope, the author really knows how to hook their audience, I quite like how the song qingshi isn't like the other righteous kind cutesy shou protag he knows how to defend himself, he understand what world his in he's able to adapt, I like how he doesn't bat an eye when he kills villains and his op... more>> medical skills and flames too~

The romance between qingshi and wuhuan is beautifully written, the character writing too it's really immersive almost on par with the romance in "Transmigrating into the reborns male lead ex boyfriend " I really recommend this if u liked this, overall I really like it even tho I cried in some parts (T T), I'd be grateful for whoever's reading this if you ever have any recommended novels!! <<less

Very good novel. Note that a lot of the low ratings here are by people who haven't finished it (and sadly dropped it right before the plot started kicking into full gear and most of their gripes were answered), so take those reviews with a grain of salt.

What I liked

    1. First of all, the main characters themselves were fantastic. They start as pretty common archetypes (Song Qingshi as the cold-yet-eccentric secluded master, Yue Wuyuan as the beautiful-yandere-with-a-dark-past) but the author sets to deconstruct and examine those archetypes, and does it well. A particular moment that stands out to me is when
      Spoiler

Song Qingshi realizes An Long, until then someone he considered his only friend, has killed him in the past after Qingshi rejected his love confession. Qingshi's reaction (accepting being killed by An Long as a good thing since he has nothing else to give him) shows the reality of what being this lonely and unable to connect with others for so long would realistically do to someone, and is a rare look into the (usually undiscussed) hard situation of being on the receiving end of unrequited love from someone you care about. Wuyuan's realization on how this situation mirrors his own possessive tendencies and his subsequent work to not let his feelings hurt Qingshi this way without any moralizing at play was also refreshing

      [collapse]
    1. The story itself also explored a lot of important topics in well done ways, such as mental health, therapy, trauma, s*xual assault and s*avery, and so on. The character buildup and a lot of the side characters were great too, even if they were mostly out of focus.
    1. The main romance was beautifully done, one of the best I have read in danmei so far (as of now, second best after WangXian from MDZS). It has a lot in common with the writing of that particular couple, with how interwoven the romance is with the plot and themes of the novel, and how the relationship is both a catalyst to and reinforced by their individual character growth. In short, it's clear a lot of effort was put into writing and developing the relationship, to great results.
What I didn't like

    1. The second half of the novel, where
      Spoiler

one, a massive time skip occurred and two, the story went cosmic in the end
lost me a bit. Part of it is due to taste (I'm not a fan of these kind of plots), but some of it is also due to how it makes the earlier part of the story and character+relationship growth feel meaningless and unimportant in the grand scheme of things

(who cares about a measly few years when they have had thousands of such experiences and the timeline is literally in the millions of years!)

      [collapse]
. The ending wasn't a complete disaster like in other novels (it still wrapped up the plot neatly) but it still left me feeling a bit empty.
that being said, this is definitely a really good novel, and I suggest reading until at least chapter 50 before deciding to drop it. 9/10 from me.

Interesting. Very well planned and all plot points fulfilled. This story will definitely leave you satisfied with a full tummy :"3

this is just a personal preference but it really drops my immersion to the story when it goes all macro so ig thats my only gripe with this? (And this genre in general) :v

This novel is the love child of "s*um Villain's Self-Saving System" and "Quickly Wear the Face of the Devil". It's not very innovative, but still very well written. The characters are cute, and the plot is coherent. There were a few chapters where I laughed out loud. The translation by Chrysanthemum Garden is pleasant to read, I would say if you have time on your hands, it's a very pleasant read. About the novel:

The MC and ML fall in love with each other at first sight and are very lovey-dovey throughout the series. The MC is an autistic and socially awkward doctor, while the ML is a beautiful all powerful being, who is perfect in all ways. Both characters are very overpowered. There is nothing unique about the series and follows a very formulaic wuxia romance plot. Even the plot twist at the end is very expected.

Spoiler

The plot twist is very much like "Quickly wear the face of the devil" where the system was actually trying to figure out a way to get rid of the bugs. And the Phoenix God (ML) was the actual creator of the system that got corrupted.

This story blew me away. It's absolutely amazing in every sense—plot, character development, twists and turns, the romance, everything.

At first, the relationship between Qingshi and Wuhuan threw me off a bit, and I wasn't sure if I actually liked them together because of the toxicity (especially Wuhuan) displayed, but it soon became clear there was a deeper meaning to it all, that he was never alone in this. And boy, the plot twist halfway through caught me completely off guard. I couldn't stop reading afterwards, trying to understand where we... more>> were, where they stood and how they were moving forward from there.

The ending was amazing for me, in special finding out the little bits of information that were foreshadowed from the beginning. It was amazingly thought-out and written.

Wuhuan and Qingshi's relationship is a gem, they're both precious and must be cherished, and the end was a satisfying and perfect one for them. For sure, one of my favourites. <<less

4.5/5!

It's nice but I struggled to complete it half way through! Made myself finish it and did not regret it! The final chapters really pull everything together. Love it regardless.

And I love how genuine MC is to ML in the beginning chapters 🫶🏻

This was an epic masterpiece. The plot, the characters, the writing is sooooooo good! It's not easy to take on severe mental health issues and center your story around it without losing the direction. The author executed it perfectly.

I earnestly implore everyone to pleaseeeeeee read this masterpiece and not judge it because of the tags. I know, they seem scary, and they ARE. BUT TRUST ME, good things do come to them and all of them will get their happy ending. And I promise you, none of the mentioned characters... more>> are merely canon fodders like in typical fantasy novels. NO. They have a key role to play and move the story forward. If you feel confused or frustrated about anything or any character, be patient. It has a purpose that will be served beautifully!! <<less

I thoroughly enjoyed the budding love phase. The climax and ending, although not bad and tied up most loose ends, didn’t excite me as much as the initial falling in love part of the story.

But this is a problem I personally have with most romances.

This is not an action/adventure focused fantasy, but a romance. I read romance for the romance, not the external plot. So I get excited by the romance so much that I’m easily put off by the plot.

This story was actually really good and enjoyable though. The... more>> ending was a bit difficult to read die to the exposition but it was a good ending that actually explained how everything happened and was meant to be. <<less

The story had a strong start (interesting plotting, good characterization) with writing quality you can expect of a webnovel (barely passable) but about halfway the plot lost steam and it was just a slog to read.

For a work that supposedly denounces r*pe, I was super dissapointed when

Spoiler

the first person Bai Zihao encontered after being rescued from his abusive relationship was a 12 year old girl who he was only willing to speak to because she wouldn't r*pe him (he was in a very vulnerable place). As it turns out, she is an adult man posing as a child, forming the secondary couple with Bai Zihao when he gets Bai Zihao drunk and r*pes him. This is presented as his romantic pursuit of Bai Zihao.

This scarily mirrors Bai Zihao's first abusive relationship with Jin Feiren where characters envied his "happy relationship" as Daoist companions with his ab*ser, as now readers ship him with his second ab*ser.

So I had to drop. <<less

Reading this novel really showed me how terrible s*xual assault is. The novel portrayed how horribly it affected the male lead's mental state.

How it caused him to have severe mysophobia.

How dirty he felt himself to be.

... more>> How self-depreciating he became.

It took not 5 chapters, not 10 chapters, but more than a hundred chapters of this novel for him to put it behind him. Throughout the story, he still had relapses of his trauma. It never left him as long as he remembered.

Regardless, the main character has always stayed by his side for it. He takes care of him, always tries to heal him of both physical and mental wounds. Physical wounds healed quickly, but mental wounds are hard to remove. I'll type less here to avoid spoiling.

Anyway I'll give the story a 4.5/5. -0.5 because the story is a bit boring at certain chapters, and sometimes small actions go unexplained, but it's rare. It's a good story that you should really read till the end because some early story points in ~ch50 can be explained in ~ch100+. The ending was really satisfying for me. After all the turmoil, they finally got to enjoy their hard-fought tranquility. It is a HE, to love for eternity. <<less

General thoughts: Definitely check it out, but it is one of those stories you have to stick around with for a bit (30+) chapters to be good.

MC is a very likeable character who will make you groan at times with his denseness, but it’s never to the point of unbearableness. He’s also stubborn and kind, but not that much of a pushover. Plus, a giant bonus is that he is very sexy!

ML is actually quite three-dimensional in my eyes. His backstory explains a lot about his character, and while he... more>> does have the classic ‘wanting to possess and is only nice to MC, ’ it makes sense once you learn of his backstory.

Flaws: The story does drag on in the middle of the latter parts. The beginning and ending are incredibly strong, but due to how bloated I was sitting through the latter part of the story, I couldn’t help but not care much. It doesn’t drag the story in my eyes, but I did have to force myself to read the last few chapters. <<less

I absolutely LOVE this novel. I read this novel a while a go but I still remember cleary and I'm bored so I've decided to write reviews... anyways. The relationship between the main characters is so sweet. Unlike a lot of bl novels this novel doesn't sexualize r*pe or ab*se, one of the main characters is a victim of r*pe and the novel really shows how that effected him. Also I love how this novel ties everything up, you find out the reason for everything. This novel made me cry... more>> so many times. Its so good I love this novel. <<less
