Si Lan is the great demon king, but he is more known for his ‘wife-exterminating’ reputation than anything else.

Every time the marriage rate in the demon realm plummets and couples are at odds, the demon palace only has to release the news that the demon king is looking for a new consort. As a result, the young eligible demon realm girls will suddenly get engaged one after another. Even widows get a second chance at marriage (not with the demon king of course) and the demon realm becomes peaceful.

As the main character, the demon king, after a hundred years of being single, couldn’t help but go to a fortune teller to divine his marital fate.

The fortune teller, holding a turtle shell, frowned, feeling that the situation was not simple. “You are destined to have only male partners. If you marry a woman, you will certainly doom her to a fate of inescapable death.”

“…,” the demon king thought, “The demon realm is open-minded, and same-s*x relationships are not uncommon.”

It's quite good but I'm dropping this. The MC and ML are awesome, love them so much both individually and together. All the side couples though... stop it! I'm here to read the story of the MC and ML and instead it's a story about the MC and ML learning about other people's relationships. And all of them are some dog blood story about "I hurt you, you hurt me" cliche types. It's like the author took all the normal bl stories and made them side couples without... more>> understanding why people liked those stories in the first place. It's not the cliche people like - it's the development of the characters. And the author condenses a book like that into a span of 5 chapters, it comes out annoying! If it's sweet fine but all these side story people are either terrible or misunderstood and the whole novel is composed of these! So this story is good but seriously! Get rid of the side couples! <<less

Maybe the author have found his/her conscience so the last CP have their own version of HE although their background story is so sad

Okay done with the sad review, si lan is a (pheasant) / phoenix demon lord/ widow bachelor who want to find his destined person, but who will thought his destined person would be the heavenly emperor god and they already have a intertwined fate as long as 800 years ago <<less

It's an OK, although I am not sure if it's because of the bad translation that's pretty much MTL or if it's the author's writing itself but things felt abrupt. Things basically happen in unreasonable ways as it is made to happen to lead to an obvious and predictable outcome. Characters are all plot driven and doesn't exactly have their own individuality, but this is just my perspective.

The main problem I actually don't like about this story is the forcibly made tragic side couples, which seems to follow the same formula of regret where they would "accidentally" kill the person that they love and regret it, consisting of the bottom falling in love first following with the seme falling harder yet still for some reason continue to try and stick to his beliefs or set mission of killing the uke despite them already knowing that they have feelings for them??? Anyway, it just didn't feel reasonable even though they changed their mind to only wanting to seal or suppress the ukes, yet by coincidence the ended up killing the person that they love completely. I love wife chasing crematorium but when I am being shown with the same kind of couples in the same story, I am bound to get sick of it especially with this very forced format.

Aside from that, the main couple is actually quite cute. The story has some pretty good ideas itself, it's just that some aspects turned me off. I've also only got passed two sides couple that felt like the copy and paste of each other so the other side couples might have something else to offer as well as the main couple, however, the bad impression of the two side couples I read had ran deep so I am dropping this story which is quite a shame as I actually liked the first story of the side couple until I was offered with pretty much the same type of story again. <<less

It is a good, solid story with an engaging plot.

The MC is a 1000 years old demon overlord, with a fresh and interesting personality. He originated as an adult modern man transmigrating into an unhatched demon egg. He spent years being formed while listening to his mother's stories about this new world. Once hatched he grew up, learned and lived like the other immortal demons around him, yet always retaining a more balanced point of view due to his memory of a mortal's life. His unusual (for a demon) kindness,... more>> his optimism, helped him overcome centuries of loneliness due to his bad reputation among the demons. His character realy shines through in the story.

The plot itself is composed of mini-arcs, each dealing with a particular relationship. Beyond the main pair, the only positive CP in the story involves a battle couple, companions since birth. All others are tragic as they represent a forced love, an immoral love, or a socially unacceptable love:

Captor and captive,

s*aver and s*ave,

General and singer,

Guardian and ward,

Stepmother and stepson,

Buddhist Master and disciple.

This is actually a large plot point, because the punishment of Heaven and the judgement of society are instrumental to motivation behind the main villain's actions, as he is one of the people above.

In fact, Heaven itself — the Great Dao, the law that governs the universe — can be considered as an important character in the story. It is Heaven that created the different realms and Heaven that destroys them. After being dissatisfied with the gods, immortals, ghosts, demons, Heaven created the weak and frail humans; to protect them, Heaven then punishes the most powerful players in the other realms, solely for being too big of a threat. This forms the core of the conflict, as the people being destroyed for such a reason are obviously not happy about it. <<less

Its gooood but its not something I would read again. Why?

1. In the first chapter, it is indicated that the MC transmigrated, but this concept was completely abandoned by the author and never mentioned again. Idk why but its like MC never even remember his life before transmigration. Its like he never transmigrated.

2. The author focused too much on the side characters, to the point where it feels like the main characters are just there to observe their stories alongside us. And for some reason, all of these side stories... more>> always end in tragedy. I do enjoy the stories, but I wish the main characters had more presence.

3. The translation often feels off, as if the translator never bothered to proofread. There are so many mistakes that it gets really frustrating at times. But its quite readable so its guess its okay.

4. There are some plotholes throughout the story.

If it wasnt for these I wouldve given this a 5/5. I still enjoyed reading this. I recommend readers to give this a try. <<less

I haven't written a review in so long but I felt kinda obligated to for this one.

I was really hesitant to pick this novel up because whilst most of the reviews are good, there are an abnormally large amount of 1 star reviews. All I have to say though is I'm glad I eventually got bored enough to overlook those.

The plot of this novel is actually really good. I think it approaches morality well and displays the nuances of the subject without the story itself being super heavy or serious.... more>> As in, at least for me, the ideas the author tried to portray were quite easy to digest.

I will say however, that the writing is somewhat immature. It's noticeable even with all the translation errors and inconsistencies.

The language and descriptions aren't bad, it's just the way order in which details were presented could have used some work. I feel like there were times when the author intentionally tried to mislead the reader but by doing it so early on in the novel, they accidentally painted the MC as someone a lot more incompetent than he really is. I'm not sure if it's a translation discrepancy but the story seems to be told from Si Lan's perspective and yet, at the same time it was like we were seeing Si Lan from Haowei's perspective rather than Si Lan's. I think that made the sequence of events, along with Si Lan's personality a lot more difficult to grasp than it ought to be. At points it was even like we were seeing the main characters from the villain's perspective yet there wasn't any obvious change in perspective. Honestly I think the author maybe just tried TOO HARD to add twists to the story when there really wasn't a need for one. I think it made people frustrated because there were times when the MC seems completely unaware or oblivious to something and only people who paid attention to every detail would then realise a chapter later *poof* turns out the he MC knew everything from the start and everything was going to plan.

Despite this and the uh inconsistent translation I think the plot of this novel makes it worth reading. <<less

Overall it's good, but it's also suffocating. I like to read fluffy romance, comedy, OP characters, and smooth sailing plot. I always feel suffocated when I as reader can see who the villain is but the MC always miss it. I also seldom like when the same villain 'survive as villain' through the story until the end. This story is good, I like MC and ML. But I skip many parts especially tragic story of side characters. Skipping this part don't affect much, well some of it contain foreshadowing of MC and ML past.

After almost all of the misunderstanding solved, MC and ML together at ch 50. I'll read the rest of the story when I don't remember this suffocating feeling anymore.

The MC is quite the Demon lord... and not in a good way. He doesn't have the aura of a demon lord at all and doesn't seem to be respected much either from what I've garnered over the 4 chapters I've read so far.

The ML disdains him too at first lol, expected since he's the heavenly emperor and should be wayyy older than the thousand year old MC.

Quze (MC's disciple) is being manipulated too, wonderful.

Im a little sad MC's parents died in the first chapter (died naturally, not killed) since... more>> they sounded quite interesting but yeah, MC seems really careless and doesn't appear to have a very smart brain, I'd say he has a lazy and carefree one.

I can't say I like it very much but I don't really dislike it. My pickiness mainly comes from the MC's personality probably so I won't rate for now. <<less

Had to log in to my long forgotten account just to write a review.

This sh*t is good. Mfs in the comments giving low rating are crazy. It follows the typical route of chinese martial arts denmai, like going around solving mysteries only to find out there was a mastermind behind them, blah blah.

But still, this is good. MC is smart and powerful, not a damsel in distress neither an overpowered character that can solve everything in the world. Just a dude who is of noble birth and has been living... more>> as such.

Sadly there is no smut, but it's still enjoyable. MC and ml's relationship is nice, and there is no such scenarios of "why is my heart beating so fast? I must be sick" sort of bs. <<less
