Absolutely love this novel. I find the MC so admirable, he carries so much burden and is truly worthy of all the power he has. He is extremely selfless too, I just want more chapters to be released fast, I wanna see him be happy for once

This is badly planned story imo. Author patches story along the storyline so the MC looked imposibly unlucky. The ridiculous thing is MC choosing hard imposible way to avoid death flag because of the usually seen japanesse humanism (lol) and heroes complex. MC is one of the strongest character in the story surpassing heroes and saint but accepting to become test subject. He could simply seek asylum to another country imo. This is disgusting to extreme.

I just dont understand why the author keep using humanism and heroism pretense on every... more>> stories nowdays. It plainly borish and lack essence of reality. <<less

Strong start but the MC slowly turns into the typical Japanese Emo as many other stories, especially because more and more its inner monologues and not his actual speech (which makes the story so fun in the beginning)

The initial chapters were good. Afterwards the story fell apart and it was not appealing to me. Romance though mentioned is too slow. I like reading novels with romance and plot going hand to hand or completely no romance. But this one had the romance between characters but neglected it.

I liked it overall, but the MC is solely responsible for all of the dangers he faces. He is solely responsible for everyone hating him too.

The synopsis says: "Can Kazuki evade the mountainous amount of death flags and advance through the survival route !?"

But after like chapter 10 he doesn't even try to evade anything. He joins some knight order knowing full well his mouth can't be tamed and people will dislike him for it. He toys with trained knights because he remembers their moves from the game he played, not thinking at all about how the higher-ups will react to some nobody knowing ALL the moves their knights know. He gains a massive amount of infamy for no reason other than he can't shut his mouth and validates rumors spread about him.

With the exception of the very beginning of the novel (saving the girls mom/LP farming/gaining support of his families soldiers), I can not think of a single situation that the MC turns around in his favor. His situation just goes from bad to worse while he inwardly claims to cry about his 'destruction flags'.

Really a great book, give it a shot.

The MC is transported inside a game he is familiar with as one of the most hated characters of the game. Though he takes over the npc's body, the previous personality still remains within.

What this means is that our MC can control the body's actions, but when he speaks, it's in a very insulting tone, with facial expressions that match. Essentially his actions are that of a caring individual, while his speech is that of a cold hearted aristocrat.

If you like... more>> martyrdom, self sacrificing MC's, and 'pure' romances... this novel is right up your alley.

Also the MC is somewhat OP and very capable. <<less

I guess the first part that actually made me enjoy is the non-harem but more focus towards the romance for one pair. I find it more realistic and really enjoy reading the romance part.

As the story goes arc by arc, it really just mainly focus on the MC. Therefore, I think it is depending whether you enjoy this MC character or you don't enjoy it. MC personality/characteristic are fresh to me compared to the typical shounen MC. Although there is not much changes in the MC personality after so many... more>> chapters which is disappointing.

If you are looking for a story that doesn't have an extremely OP MC with no harem, I think this is perfect. <<less

Your average isekai harem adventure. There were some good moments plotwise, but they get solved waaaay too easily. The dialogue of every character is painfully cringy. Everybody either hates or loves the MC - there's NO in between. Oh, and every girl around his age is instantly lovestruck when looking at him.

Great novel, it is seriously underrated. Apparently, it is not that famous in Japan, despite the interesting plot and interactions of the characters in the story. I would recommend to at least check it out and see if you like the cruel-mouthed but loveable and kind MC.
Spoiler

Plus I seriously love that there is a major focus on only one romantic interest for the MC, it feels refreshing from the number of novels that have harems, where it feels like the MC is just collecting women like they are collectibles. Harold x Erica lez go!

2.5 Stars - C48: Dropped

Hmm, it was interesting at the beginning with saving Clara and her daughter the new way of planting. It had seemed like ooh, using knowledge to manipulate the world! I also like how he's forced to talk like a villain haha But after that, it didn't really continue? He just seems reactive after that, like there aren't any more events that are on a scale that he can manipulate. Also, not a fan of the misunderstandings that are quite contradictory to what is actually happening but... more>> it's not too annoying. The 2nd arc was kinda me just waiting for the meat of the arc to start but nothing seemed to happen up until that expedition which was concluded in a snap. It was kinda flat. Like all these things felt like a setup, like him joining the Knights! Ooh, training with his roommates and Cody's team! More bonding? Setup for future missions? I wonder what he plans to do to join the Knights so early? Then the final exam and the red fog! Ooh, new monsters to be fought in the future with the knights! And then boom, after all that setup, he fights some brief battles with a one-time villain and that's it? He's going to prison just like that? What a letdown. Now with the new arc, I'm not really feeling the urge to continue hmm

The premise is really interesting, especially since MC is forced to talk and act rude like Harold. I feel like that was a really great change in isekai as we could see how MC struggles to work his way out of the death flags while his mouth spouts villain like dialogue of Harold.

But that quickly became bland because the author made the most ridiculous ways of the side characters to know about MC being actually a good guy. I feel like pulling out my hair reading this sometimes. The slow... more>> updates don't help either as I literally don't remember the plot or characters.

The side characters haven't really had a chance to shine cause they all are like "Wow Harold is a good guy. He sacrificed himself to save us yada yada"

Also I'm mad cause MC doesn't kill. Like he has a sword that eats away at his life force but he doesn't kill the enemies he used that sword on? Like dude can you not act so virtuous...

Honestly I commend the translator Defiring for sticking with this project even now. I gave 1.5 stars extra cause of the translation. I'm serious.

Basically an interesting character trait that didn't get used well in a bland isekai where MC tries to survive and

but becomes a death row inmate about to be executed only to be saved cause the mad scientist villain wanted to test his new lifesteal sword...

I'm just going to give my honest opinion on this series, so fair warning. The reviews are very mixed so far and honestly it's for a good reason. The concept for this story is really cool and when you're first introduced to all the characters and the world, it grabs you in very well. That's exactly why so many people give this series such a harsh score, because it end ups disappointing those expectations. I'm not going to lie and say that this series is horrible when it's not. It's... more>> alright, I'd give it a 7/10, because despite being a bit disappointed in how things are going it's still entertaining. I happen to enjoy this series but I can definitely understand that this will not be for everyone. If you're looking for something to pass time, this will keep you entertained but if you're looking for something smart without plot holes, confusing character moments, and over the top dramatics, this isn't for you.

First let's go over the characters: Erica is the main female lead, she's introduced to be a strong willed girl who is very beautiful and who has a deep sense of justice. She's there to challenge the main male lead, Harold, and to bring out the sensitivity that he hides within himself. Erica was amazing and I think she still could have potential depending on how the author tries to use her from now on. In the previous arcs, in favor of introducing a new character and keeping the MC a lone wolf, Erica has been under developed as a character. For a little bit there was a ray of hope because she had realized she needed to be more assertive about Harold but then that light was snuffed out by Harold himself so it really just depends on the authors whims at this point.

Harold Stokes: everyone is so busy hating him when maybe you guys should be hating the annoying function that doesn't let him speak the way he wants to begin with. There's no reason to hate him when he's trying his best to fix everything that's going on in their world. However, he's still a Gary Sue character if I'm being honest. He's not perfect by any means but too many people believe him to be in this story because of the misunderstandings he has no intentions of clarifying with anybody. He's got no regard for his own life even though he claims he's only doing all of this for himself (spoiler alert: he's a liar.) He doesn't even seem to realize he's not selfish but anyone with a brain can figure out that he's trying to make it so the characters in the game he loved don't have to suffer through what the game would have them go through, and yet he's still strong enough to defeat the enemy. It's clear what his goal is. It's also clear who he's going to end up with seeing as there is no harem tag. That doesn't suddenly make him a good character. He barely has any development throughout the entire series, he treats the other people in his life as if they're characters in the game and as if they can't possibly have their own opinions about him anymore despite the fact that he's saved their lives multiple times. He refuses to consider that he needs to use all of that game info and tell someone or place traps so that the main villain will get caught instead of waiting for events where he KNOWS people will die. He refuses to acknowledge that he's falling in love with Erica as well despite all of the obvious signs. The reason why he's like this is just so that the author can prolong the story for as long as possible and delay Erica and Harold getting together as well and it's very obvious.

There isn't going to be a harem as far as I'm concerned, it's obvious who's going to end up with who. That doesn't change the fact that almost every single women in this series that is the same age as Harold has been in love with him at least once. It's irritating. Why do they all have to fall in love with him before they find someone else? I feel like it would've been better if the author would have just made it as though some of the girls admired him for who he was without being attracted to him in that way. The audience already understands that Harold is a great person, we don't need so many words of confirmation. Don't go into this with super high expectations and you'll have fun. It's a funny, interesting, and cool series but it does have a lot of flaws so just be prepared okay? <<less

I usually make my reviews long so I'll try to keep this one shorter.

5/5, my reason: The author attempted to do something in this novel, and they succeeded greatly.

Characters: Fleshed out, they all got some time to be built and have a good foundation, and each feels like they have their own personality.

... more>> Plot: Really great, seems like things happen in the story because of actual reasons and not just make-believe enemies with almost no motivation.

MC: From how the MC grew (not strength-wise) I feel like it was amazing. At first, the MC was just a normal person but after a while, he started fusing with the person that he's in (aka the past body owners personality)

Glad I kept this review short, anyways I highly recommend giving this a shot and enjoying it as much as I did.

P.S. Where are my new chapters? I need them, I'm hungry for them. <<less

I'm not sure I really agree with the 'Clever Protagonist' tag overall. MC fills this role fine in the very beginning, but that more due to having much greater future/world knowledge than any normal person would have, not him actually being clever. And I would further argue that later actions are actually indicative of the opposite, as MC does a several illogical thing with poor reasoning (ie, contrivances to drag the story in a certain direction). Getting bailed out by being OP doesnt make you clever.

Spoiler

MC are supossed villain and will be slain by the hero but instead changin future he try to stick with history and try to not changing it but try to avoid slain by hero (ridiculious)

he helped his team avoid anhillation and fight some mid boss mage (or knight magician?) but then he irritated interest of higher ups and got sentenced to be executed.

what I find iritates me is that after that he got time skip 5 years, yeah 5 years and then not telling anything about how he get away with 'executed sentence'

later story explained how he got away with executed sentence by becoming human experiment for the final boss (MC SAID IT) yet not explained what the experiment was .

yes he became final boss lab rat for 5 YEARS and there is no such thing as final boss is OP (atleast not mentioned in the begining, for god sake) MC can try poison assasin or just plain kill him and deal with it latter but he became someone like stundere that harsh talk and do the oposside. Instead changing the future and prepare for demon invasion or whatever, he became STUNDERE and do nothing for 5 years dispite he got monicker "knight killer" and "strongest knight in history".

maybe some of you will say that it get better in later story but just the fact that MC is WILLINGLY became final boss LAB RAT despite have a change to kill him and avoid trouble and another victim/being became his experiment and HAVE A CHANGE to escape with life intact is plain s*upid and just a way to keep story go on in roundable way,

the weakness of genre like this is that MC though boss/enemy is supossed killed by the hero, and MC try to became wetstone or trainer for the hero despite he can kill the bos/enemy directly and avoid tragedy,

I truly don't get all the 4 or 5 stars being given here.

The story starts off fine with the main lead preparing for the future and all, but the people in this world is just so darn dumb, and things just got all too convenient after that point.

"LP farming" being a "new" invention because he knew how to craft potions in the game? Errr, surely the "people"in this "real" world would never think of try farming with a potion that can HEAL things...

Swinging a sword twice as big at himself... more>> without any instructor, or any prior knowledge and become masterful, both in technique, and practical applies at it? Sure mate, I'm sword god too, can confirm.

"Oh! He spouting crap all the time, but he is just so pure, so courageous, so big-hearted..." Use this on one or two people only and they become special, everyone thinking so is just ridiculous and, bland af.

I could go on and on forever, but this novel is just bad, the author is just too scared to step out of the safe outline that Overlord or whatever "dark" OP MC novel crap has created, what remains here is just a boring, typical, illogical, and unfunny mess of a novel. <<less

tl:dr Starts off great, falls off pretty quick. Still worth reading.

MC is born as a villain character into a the world from game he played in a previous life. And despite being a good person, anything he says is "filtered" to sound bad, regardless of how he really wanted to say it. Thus, he seems like a prick to most of the characters at the start. However, he can still perform actions normally, so he begins to plan a way for his family to survive the events of... more>> the game and to help out the actual main hero of this world. Not too shabby of a plot, eh?

The absolute biggest problem with this story is repetition. Specifically, the MC repeatedly takes the blame to make himself look bad and edgey in order to help out the hero. The other characters will constantly repeat that they know deep down, the MC is actually a good character and blah blah. It feels like the author is trying really hard for the readers to pity him, but with how often this happens, it ends feeling lazy and annoying.

If you like edgey, lone wolf type of characters being OP, this is the novel for you. Not for me though, sadly. <<less

I have been reading translated novels every day for nearly a decade. You could even say that I am a snob-reader and have read hundreds of translated novels and have put in 1000's of hours into them (instead of TV or netflix, I read novels). I have trouble reading anything that has quality on this website that is less than around 4.3 stars. This novel in particular, is among if not perhaps my favorite translated novel of all time. Everything from the translation, grammar, story, and characters, are each 11/10.... more>> I have read up to chapter 91 twice (and I am finally able to read past that), and I can NEVER read or watch things twice. One other thing that I want to mention, is that perhaps the biggest issue with many other commentors regarding this novel is that the MC supposedly traded some of his lifespan for some power. However, they clearly did not continue reading enough, and shame on them (to avoid spoilers). They also see the MC as an OP character that can beat up everyone, and in a way he is, but he is still only a singular person, and though strong, strength cannot solve everything in this novel for many reasons.

One other thing about this novel is that there is somewhat of a clear continuous trope that the author uses for the MC which stems from his character; the MC cannot control how he talks, which is like an arrogant, rude, self-prideful jackass that cares for no one but himself > however, his actions time and time again, show that he is anything but > other characters figure this out and continue to do so throughout the novel. This can be called the "tragic hero" trope. To me, this is the perfect trope of any novel, and a reason why I love this series so much. The author is a pro at this trope, and to me, it has never once gotten old, especially because characters are NEVER dropped and continuously meet up with each other as they are meant to at the start and continuity of what is meant to be a "game" world (heroes party, basically).

All in all, give this novel a shot. It is well worth it. <<less

One of my favorite novels! I really enjoy how heroic the MC is despite being labelled the villain. His interactions and banter with other characters is fun and charming. He tries to be cold, but only comes off as a tsundere.

The writing isn't perfect, of course, with the MC being OP and overly edgy sometimes. I forgive these flaws because the MC is sympathetic and likeable in my eyes.

If you like clever and scheming protagonists, reincarnation into a game world, politics, and a fun adventure, give this novel a try!

I saw some gripes in certain reviews that there was no explanation regarding why or how he got transmigrated into a game. From what I see in this kind of genre, it is either explained from the get-go that some god or higher being etc, is responsible, or it is so integral to the plot somehow, and it will fall into place at the end. I feel like it will be the latter, so I do not understand why we expect a completely linear story telling where everything needs to... more>> be laid out in chapter 1.

I am hoping that the ending will continue to justify my rating (and won't become a hot mess like a lot of such transmigration stories). But otherwise, I think the world building, characters, motivations, misunderstandings, and the plot itself very interesting. I find the story well written and well translated. One of the better ones out there, so if you like the genre, give it a go! <<less
