My Husband is Suffering from a Terminal Illness

Description

Xie Yang struggled in the post-apocalyptic world for many years until he was too tired to go on. Then he transmigrated into a young adult entertainment circle novel where the protagonists have easy, sweet, and satisfying lives.

The male protagonist of the novel is not just handsome and smart, he’s also reborn. The female protagonist of the novel is not only beautiful and works hard towards her dreams, she also has a cheat in her hands.

There’s a lot of male and female supporting roles, each having pretty face, nice figures and someone strong behind them. Get into any one of their bodies, and he could close his eyes and just enjoy life. But he didn’t. Instead he transmigrated into a young idol secretly married to the biggest villain of all — the male protagonist’s maternal uncle.

His title is husband but it’s more like a nurse. Because this novel’s biggest villain is a terminally ill patient who is gloomy and sick in the head (actually sick). Their marriage was to counter the bad luck (illness).

Xie Yang: Who cares if you’re the male lead, female lead, male supporting, female supporting, villain or protagonist. Get in the way of my comfortable life and you’ll die (:

MC transmigrated into a brainless romance novel from the zombie apocalypse. He starts out fairly depressed and gradually decides that living in a brainless novel is fine compared to the actual apocalypse, and it’s kind of nice to be alive and not constantly afraid and in pain. I don’t hate the premise. I mean, there’s no zombies here but if I transmigrated into a novel where all the 2020 BS didn’t exist and everything was more or less fine, I’d be pretty willing to stay there. MC is fairly sarcastic... more>> and rude to... more or less everyone, but he’s also very clear that his policy is “you push me I will kill push you.” The typical progression of events is 1. Antagonist tries to exploit MC in some way 2. MC counters and face slaps 3. Antagonist decides they’re mortal enemies now and keeps trying sh*t 4. MC crushes antagonist and then continues on with his life.

Shout out to ML for being a unicorn genuinely adorable tsundere. The dynamics between MC and ML are really nice.

About the original female lead...

Spoiler

Her gold finger ability to make people like her also inflicts brain damage on those same people. I don’t remember if this was explicitly said but it is very very strongly implied that she knows this. In the original novel, her use of her ability exacerbated ML’s brain tumor and his mother’s dementia, causing both of them to die. MC, who’s healing ability means that he can save ML’s life (as long as no one comes along and explodes his brain tumor for personal gain) refuses to let her within arms reach of ML once he figures this out.

[collapse]

And as for the original male lead

Spoiler

his mother was ML’s sister. Sister married her husband over the objections of her own family, and it turns out that her husband was a total s*um just like the rest of his family. Sister died tragically early, due to the ab*se of her husband and his family. She very clearly understood her mistakes but didn’t explain the complicated emotional betrayal to her 5 year old son so he doesn’t really have a clear idea of what happened. Original male lead was raised in his father’s family and they taught him that his uncle and grandmother were Big Bad Meanies who abandoned his mother and would probably try to go after him too. Meanwhile, the uncle, ML, openly hates his sister’s in laws but has been secretly planning to leave his entire company to his nephew once he can be sure his nephew isn’t being controlled by his fathers family. He’s got some convoluted but fairly genre typical plan to “hone” his nephew into a successful person by positioning himself as his nephew’s opponent. In the original novel, the original ML “wins” against his uncle basically because uncle lets it happen.

MC thinks that the nephew is an idiot, and is happy to say that to nephews’s face, but he only really stops the nephew whenever he’s blatantly trying to take advantage of his uncle.

Simply beautiful; the characters, the plot, the translation even the comments under each chapter captured me.

Edit: I came here as soon as I saw that this novel was completed, still loved it and now it raised my standards concerning CPs in any genre of novels, anime & manga 😅

These are the stuff that I especially liked:

... more>> ☆ The white was sheep's wool fox x The world's sweetest sugar jar (comes with it's own vinegar) pairing

☆ The ML's mom; she made me wish that she was mine... 😖

☆ The trusted employees (MVP status to them)

☆ The way how the rivals, antagonist and villain were dealt with (*chef's kiss)

☆ The mysterious and events were handled nicely with no over the top complications and it made sense.

☆ And last but not least, the true fans of the MC

P.S: I wish that the MC told the ML about his past life tho (๑-﹏-๑)

I literally just started this novel today and I couldn’t stop myself from reading all the chapters! This is a really good story and I enjoy the build up between the MC and the ML relationship. The MC is also really funny and it’s satisfying to see all the face slapping that happens. 10/10 would recommend!!

To summarise: The terminal illness thing is a low-impact part of the background, so don't expect a lot of tense drama on that front. This is much more a show-biz story than anything else. The fun part is th relationship between our two leads. It's a low tension, cosy read where you watch the main character be clever and make people who do him wrong face humiliation for it and a slow-brew relationship.

Plot wise; the story takes all of the right steps, but doesn't show case a lot of really... more>> new or novel ideas. It's well executed and well paced, but don't expect anything unpredictable or any great twists. There is an antagonist, but you never come to a place where you think she'll overwhelm the MC for long or make him suffer losses.

Charaxter wise, our leads and villains alike are fairly basic. But they are very fun to watch. Our two main leads in Particulate are the trait of both being tsundere, which leads to their scenes actually being really fun to watch.

One thing in particular that I like is that our MC is genuinely not dependant on the ML's wealth and status. You know those stories where the MC proudly insists they are capable of taking care of themselves, but end up relying on the ML for everything? Yeah, in this, the MC exploits the ML for small stuff only. Most of the success is the MC's own clever thinking. I like seeing the concept done propyl for once, and it makes the relationship between our two leads seem much more even.

Translationg wise; it's just really good. Solidly done. Seriously, not a single word of complaint. A+. <<less

I really like the character of the MC. He’s a bit OP but not completely inhuman. And I usually don’t go for the tsundere type of ML (cos most of tsundere I read use that reason to be an ahole) unless the significant other is thick skinned and can keep up with the ML’s smart ass.

I've read upto ch 49 in the translation and ch 79 in the MTL. My original score is 4.25~4.5 but I enjoyed the ML's tsundere vibes too much to score it below 5.

This is the 1st novel where I love the ML more than the MC. He's a variant of the overbearing CEO type and I don't agree with how he began his relationship with the MC (No s*xual assault/non-con or dubcon, or at least not upto what I've read. Don't worry) The ML is a major TSUNDERE! ?And sometimes... more>> I just want to pinch his cheeks to tease him ? But his tsundere nature makes the romance pretty slow, like many shoujo romance novels. Overall, the ML seems good to me. He can be overbearing at times but I feel that he respects the MC and his wishes. I can understand why he hesitates though and it's a completely rational choice. As for the MC, he's the typical OP transmigrated MC. He's very scheming and clever. There hasn't been any actual bloodshed till now, which is surprising (and a bit disappointing for me ? Considering
Spoiler

the MC's original world was a zombie apocalypse

[collapse]
Most of the fights are related to showbiz or at best business management, which I don't hate, so I guess it's fine. The original ML & FML seem like cardboard cutouts to me and are useful only in case of moving the story forward. Although, in the latest chapters, the og ML seems more redeemable, the FML just seems like a complete cannon fodder. The plot itself isn't that unique but there are certain interesting quirks like the MC's original world, the slow burning, but somewhat realistic approach to romance between two strangers who've been thrust together and most importantly, the biggest tsundere ML I've seen in novels ?

Now, this novel isn't without it's share of shortcomings. The plot has many loop holes. The pace of the romance is realistic but the beginning isn't.

I would've enjoyed the novel more if the author had mentioned some songs from real life as a comparison to make us understand the music since it's a bit difficult for a noob like me to imagine the musical pieces. (I've read other novels that did that and I've enjoyed them) but that's a strictly personal preference.

Tl;dr - good novel with very slow burning romance. So you could give it a try. <<less

Good and sweet read. The MC is smart, relatable, and very understanding. The ML can be very dishonest with his feelings but it’s understandable given that he’s facing death.

MTL is easy to understand.

Sweet. And satisfying.

The romance may be “slow” but it’s pretty obvious early on that they like each other. I’m not huge on tsunderes but the ML is the adorable kind. He’s all cold ceo on the surface and a timid cutey pie underneath. His character makes perfect sense given that he’s going to die soon.

MC is a bit black bellied but it’s all aimed at drawing the ML out of his shell. His reading Always feels sweet (and funny when ML blushes/panics/escapes) but never crosses the line.

So even though it... more>> takes quite a while for the ML to face a future together that may be short, there’s plenty of sweetness early on.

This wasn’t the standard “face-slapping s*upid bullies” that I expected. Yes, the novel’s protagonist is s*upid, but there are a lot of different issues layered up, which made it feel satisfying despite the general ease with which the MC handles everything. And honestly, the idea of the system was terrifying. I wouldn’t want to face it, in any case. It changed the vibe from the MC facing a s*upid selfish ex-protag to trying to counteract a creepy, pervasive virus that could be in anyone. Which I personally dug.

No real relationship drama. They trust each other early on and there aren’t s*upid angsty misunderstandings that could be cleared up with simple communication.

ML is SUPER respectful btw. No dub con or controlling/overbearing issues. This cutie only gets a backbone when it comes to mc’s health or safety.

So if you’re on the fence about reading because it might be an uncomfortable enemies to lovers type thing in the beginning, don’t be. They’re both adorable start to finish. <<less

This novel is really amazing. I love the personality of the Shou, so smart and strong, and that of the gong so strong, formal and cute. I read a lot of novels and none like this. This is an interesting twist in the transmigration and system assist novel. Very exciting.

ML is the cutest thing in the world, he's so clumsily overbearing yet timid, and just lethally adorable, lol. MC is very OP but he's likeable and smart enough so I have no complaint.

It's a good read overall. The villains are pretty good as well, kinda wacky but super evil too.

Quite a different a but refreshing way of transmigration; Xie Yang, a survivor of a zombie apocalypse is transmigrated into a mob character of a novel.

The original owner's fate is to die at the hands of the main actors but since savage Xie Yang has arrived, no need to fear! His little butterfly wings will slowly "turntables" the original plot and Xie Yang will be able to sit on a big. Pile. Of. Money!

The story progresses smoothly and the characters have personalities of their own. I think the best way... more>> to describe it is a QT BL novel featuring the "show biznez" but everything is more detailed.

The ML is pretty interesting but the story focuses more on Xie Yang's independence of dealing with his problems so most of what you get out of the romance is cute bickering and the slow progression of Xie Yang's relationship with a tsudere.

I haven't finished it yet but Xie Yang's character is so funny and interesting I immediately came to review.

Read it. The MC being a total savage is more than enough reason. He always brings a smile to my face with his witty remarks.

My all time favorite quote: "Take medicine when sick."

If yk, yk ;)

100/10

When I say this story is really cute, I mean it! The relationship between the two lovers starts off a bit rocky and unbalanced, but they gradually open up to each other. What I love the most is that even as their romantic relationship evolves, they stay true to their personalities and grow together.

I also appreciate the competition and the presence of an antagonist not just any antagonist, but one who’s actually intelligent (But don't worry our MC is smart 😉). MC isn’t perfect either he has moments of vulnerability,... more>> which makes him feel more real.

The story isn’t just about romance it also explores themes in the entertainment business. It doesn’t focus solely on the main couple, the secondary characters get their moments to shine, too. And it’s worth highlighting that the main characters don’t fall in love instantly. They continue living together, and the way the protagonist positively influences the male lead’s life makes the story truly touching. <<less

This book helped me out of my reading rut in just the first few chapters, I literally couldn't put it down.

Characters were amazing. I do love how talented the MC was and just sorting out problem after problem in such an EPIC way. The build up to how he crushes the "villains" were just phenomenal and entertaining, it gave me goosebumps every time.

ML was so adorable, one of the VERY FEW tsundere characters I love, and he's not even that much of a tsun. LOL. He's soooo so damn sweet,... more>> biggest green flag, and my god,

One of my most loved chinese novels, despite numerous plot holes. Chemistry between main characters and signs of their unspoken affection are just so damn good.

The only thing I can't get over is how redundant reincarnation & system tropes are here. You could remove them completely and the story wouldn't change much.

MC's unbothered attitude? Tough childhood.

Sly white lotus charmes people at first sight? Beauty and communication skills ... more>>

which she learnt to escape her tough life in the village.

MC has a fever every time he travels? Stress and overworking, he is a human after all.

Miraculous healing of ML's disease? Qiu Xing just got someone to live for and started to actually care about himself. There is only so much a doctor can do for unwilling patient. Besides, he still had to go through a surgery.

[collapse]

Spoiler

The whole «main system» plotline was so unnecessary, it's painful. It's neither original, nor served any purpose in the main story. If anything, it's just cheapened value of the characters. Because now they are characters in the fictional novel inside a novel, and readers are twice as detached and indifferent reading about them. Why should you care about their world particularly if there are millions of others, more complicated? The question about difference between a «character» and a «real person» is never even asked.

I feel like author just looked at the market oversaturated with these tropes and incorporated them in the story without much thought. There really wasn't any need to.

[collapse]

Spoiler

And finally, Tao Yang, the main problem. Although his arc got quite a bit of time, I still feel like it was less developed than even the one of Mu Zhouyi. I just have a feeling Tao Yang only exists because Xie Yang's character setting at the beginning was «mysteriously killed by someone in the novel».

The idea of what should be considered an art and what artists should be allowed to do for it is interesting, but it's too complicated to be smashed in the end of a fantasy-showbiz-romance novel.

It is still possible that author kept this idea in mind, but failed to explore it properly. After all, there was a short commentary about how stage blinds artists so much they forget what truly matters, and how much a «true» artist should be concerned about money and popularity, and how schemes behind the stage corrupt people. But in the end all these points are just left in the air; there is no clear theme to tie them together, no conclusion, not even clear question to ask yourself and think about after completing the story. It just feels like such a waste.

[collapse]

I still return for the romance and main characters. After all, you cannot find lots of CEO in the novels as adorable as Qiu Xing. However, I cannot shake this feeling that the story could be so much better, if only author let go of overused tropes and focused more on one specific topic. <<less

Dropped at chapter 122

It's not a bad story, I just don't care about entertainment fluff. I enjoyed it well enough in the beginning but there's really nothing left to resolve at this point. I was also expecting this novel to be more focused on the relationship development of the MC and ML and instead the focus is on the MC and his entertainment career. The MC gets pitted by various people and each time he solves it using PR tactics and retaliates. It's interesting at first but now that the... more>> other conflicts have been resolved, I don't want to stick around to keep reading about just that.

Spoiler:

At this point in the story, the main antagonist (female protagonist of the story the MC transmigrated into) is gone, the MC and ML have both officially acknowledged they like each other and announced it publicly, there's a way for the ML's illness to be fixed and the MC's career is going great. So what are the remaining 50ish chapters even going to be about? I honestly don't care to find out which is why I'm dropping it. <<less

Too much of the MC razing down cannon fodder that had no relevance to the overall plot imo, makes no sense that even after the MC gained so much power there are still ppl popping up left and right to oppose him for s*upid reasons. Skimmed through this.

Also feels like neither of the MC or ML actually encounter any form of real difficulty/has actual good relations outside of each other (and their assistants/professional relationships). Pretty much everyone who converted to the MC's side got 0 screentime afterwards. ML and... more>> MC's banter was pretty cute in the beginning but I kind of got really bored of ML eating vinegar after about 100 chapters of it.

I really wish there was at least one person who knew the ogMC and who also wasn't a purely evil person. They don't even need to be "good", just not a s*umbag and with some level of deduction skills and suspicion LOL. It would have been so interesting to see how the MC deals with someone/conflict in a way that isn't just utterly destroying their reputation.

I also think that there was so much lost potential with the whole apocolypse + systems conflict. It was extremely anticlimatic how easily it was dealt with, and I was really dissapointed to see that the final battle

Spoiler

was purely metaphysical didn't even leave any sort of physical real world consequence. At least the MC should have been injured or did that trope of coughing out blood or something LOL.

[collapse]

I was also pretty hyped about the MC's statements in the beginning, on how he didn't need to care about his image because rather than becoming a star in the limelight, his end goal was to lead a company. Technically, this wasn't false, but it was also quite a letdown to see that the plot focused solely on his entertainment career and hardly on his management/business one.

That said, I actually did like the story quite a bit up until the ogFL lost the battle. I think she was the only real variable that could have opposed the MC and everything afterwards was a boring mix of useless cannonfodder suffering with no actual threats.

Spoiler

Like that literally singlehandly resolved all of the problems regarding competition with his professional career (+ defeating enemies here actually felt a little satisfying bc at least they had a central cause) and also the problems regarding the ML's health. I waited so long for a second host / person from the apocolypse / epic power systems battle to appear after that and keep the rhythm going but all we got was the og system becoming the MC's food bank in the remainig ~80 chapters 😭

The plot, the characters and the translation were all top notch. And because it's a transmigration theme, the MC had a capability that helped him along the way. However, it did not render the MC as invalid because he's full of wit. Truthfully, even without his capability, I think he can do just fine. I like that he accepted the fact early on that he's in a different world and that he should appreciated every little things in life. He never saw himself as an outsider looking into other people's... more>> life, like other transmigration story. And because of that, his relationship with the ML progressed smoothly. <<less
