So far I think this novel is interesting. I see there are no reviews so I'll make an attempt to say something about the novel. The novel has a pretty low rating. This could have something to do with his harem (not sure). Most of the time my rating is below average, but here it's the other way around for me. I like reading novels every now and then that have consecutive cases. Here we have a lawyer taking up different types of cases, often including the police.

MC is a... more>> genius lawyer who transmigrates to an alternative earth. He wakes up in a new body in court, being accused of mu*der on a friend. The trial is almost ending and looking through the documents MC thinks his lawyer has little chance to get him free. Conviction would result in him being executed. MC takes up his own defense and manages to get the key evidence against him (finding a body in the trunk of his car) dismissed and the case against him dropped.

Going through the memories of his original body, MC realizes that someone is trying to kill his entire family. His parents and 2 brothers have all died in accidents the last few years. He orders his people to sell part of his assets and decides to flee with a woman given to him by the friend who was killed. We later find out she was apparently raised to protect him.

MC finds some things that points to some secrets about his family he doesn't know anything about.

As soon as the case against him is dropped, MC flees. A few weeks later he arrives at a new place where he decides to build up a new life. He buys himself into a one man's lawyer's office as companion and decides to go to school to learn languages and some extra things. He also opens a company to get patents on things that haven't been invented yet, that could earn him a lot of money.

This new world resembles earth in the 40s / 50s, with some differences. For example the China region has been conquered by the west 1000 years ago and most Chinese look up to western people.

Pretty soon MC is caught up in court cases and has very little time to attend school. He only visits school a few times during the first year he lives in the new place and very quickly builds up a name as a great lawyer.

The story consists of description of the court cases MC takes on and how he gets his clients free or when he helps the DA, how he gets people convicted.

It also shows how he develops, slowly getting richer from companies he gets involved in cq patents he gets (velcro for shoes, 3 point seat belt, etc).

I like how the court cases are described and how MC has things investigated and succeeds in what he wants.

Minus point for me is MC's harem. Most women seem to become part of his harem. In my opinion this was completely unnecessary. He even agrees to become the boyfriend of a 12 year old girl and helps other girls of same age, telling others not to touch his woman. It is said in a way that MC is not serious about it, but the girls do have / get thoughts about MC. MC is 19 at this point

So far MC has decided to accept 4 woman as his concubine. These are all above age of consent and one of them, a blue eyed, blond haired western woman even has an 8 year old daughter.

I am enjoying reading about all his court cases and how MC develops. I am also curious about the secrets of MC's family. His first concubine (who has a split personality), seems to know, but she tells him he should first get stronger before he finds out.

MC doesn't pretend to be a saint, however he does often spend a lot of his own money investigating stuff for the cases he is involved with.

With a few court cases I didn't understand how MC came to certain conclusions, but that could be me.

In one case MC comes to the conclusion that a 9 year old child killed someone. He finds out that the child is an illegitimate child and the wife decided to accept and raise the child, but secretly switched the baby, so her husband didn't raise his own son. I have no idea how MC came to the conclusion the baby was switched. It seemed far fetched to come to this conclusion.

Since there have been no new translations since january I am considering reading the RAWS, depending on easy the MTL can be read. The novel has a lot of repeating characters so far, so I'm not sure how much of them I'd remember if I stop reading for now and continue later. <<less
